Tens of thousands of "Islamophobes" discovered in Egypt: Christians leaving country in droves in wake of Muslim Brotherhood takeover

Father Mina's church has an important place in the history of the Arab Spring. It was struck by a car bomb on New Year's Eve 2010, Egypt's worst sectarian attack in recent decades, in which 23 people were killed.

After the bombing, liberal Muslim groups staged protests in support of Christians, printing posters showing the cross and the crescent interlinked which then went on to be symbols of inter-faith unity during the Tahrir Square protests three weeks later.

Imagine in 1940 reading in the news the following:

After the bombing, liberal Nazi groups staged protests in support of the French people, printing posters showing the French tricolor and the swastika interlinked which then went on to be symbols of inter-nation unity during the Champs-d'Elysees protests three weeks later.

Would you not, upon reading such a report, feel cognitive dissonance and skepticism, and at the very least demand thorough explanation -- not mere parroting of claims -- for how such an odd state of affairs could possibly be true in terms of facticity?

Same for this business about "democratic Egyptian people". I'm going to need more solid evidence they exist (perhaps 23 of them exist...) in viable numbers to make a hill of beans' difference to the problem.

woops -- change that "1949" to "1940" of course...

To the extent that there are Muslims in Egypt who are "liberal," then to such extent does Islam get a pass in the eyes of much of the world. So-called liberal Muslims, like so-called moderate Muslims, are confused people who should not be relied upon long term, or even short term, since relying upon confused people is virtually never a winning strategy.

The fact that many of such folks are "nice" means next to nothing if truly important things like the preservation of liberty and equality under the law are among one's priorities. After all, niceness never wins wars to the death and there's a war to the death going on right now on a global scale, though many people living comfortably in the West have yet to take notice.

As for the number of Coptic churches in the US increasing greatly in the last 40 years, this is a very good thing, just as mosques increasing in America is a total negative, a complete downer. Every new mosque constructed in America functions as an insult to the American Constitution (even though the Constitution to date gives full protection to the Islamic faith), a constitution which Islam would eviscerate if given the chance. What a parasite and hypocrite Islam is. Big time.

"Most of our people are afraid," Father Mina Adel, a priest at the Church of Two Saints in Alexandria said. "Not a few are leaving - for America, Canada and Australia. Dozens of families from this church alone are trying to go too."'

Memo to all Christian jihadwatchers, who may have a Coptic church in their neighbourhood, or who may encounter Coptic Christians (and for that matter, other Christian refugees from Muslim lands; e.g. Pakistani Christians, Sudanese Christians, Iraqi Assyrian or Chaldean Christians, Maronite Christians, and, yes, 'Palestinian' Arab Christians) in the workplace, on campus (perhaps you have Coptic classmates, or your child has befriended a Coptic kid), or your church is involved in a 'refugee welcome'/ integration program, perhaps offering homework classes or ESL classes...Your church may even be *sponsoring* Christian refugees - I know some from Canada have done it.

It is up to you, the islamo-informed, to help your fellow parishioners and co-religionists understand that when you deal with Christian - or other non-Muslim - refugees from the dar al Islam, you are dealing with people who have been savagely and over a long time 'worked over' by Muslims, exactly as people in a very abusive family are 'worked over' and conditioned and harmed, physically, psychologically, spiritually; and what is more, it's not just these people, it was also their forebears, for generation upon generation.

You are dealing with the effects of cross-generational trauma.

You and your church, if you are going to be interacting with people such as Coptic refugees, or Assyrian Christian refugees from Iraq or Syria, or any other newly-freed ex-dhimmis, need to prepare yourself so you can actually *help* them.

Read Mark Durie's "The Third Choice: Islam, Dhimmitude and Freedom". Read - if you are dealing with/ sponsoring/ welcoming Copts, specifically - Bat Yeor's essay, 'A Christian Minority: The Copts In Egypt', in Mr Spencer's anthology, "The Myth of Islamic Tolerance". And then read Durie's other book, short but thought-provoking, "Liberty to the Captives'. Don't just read it: *pray through it*. And if you have people in your congregation who have experience counselling deeply-traumatised people/ domestic abuse survivors, call them in.

If you do this, then you may be able to help people shed all the conscious - and, which is worse, and harder to shake - the subconscious and *spiritual* oppression that the dhimma pact, de jure or de facto, imposes. It will take time, and patience.

And furthermore, Christians who are informed and aware, in this area, will be less likely to 'catch' dhimmitude; and more likely to recognise - should they have dealings with *Muslim* 'refugees' at the same time - the games the Muslims are playing, and... *refuse to play*.

(For dealing with Muslims, besides Durie's two books another good book is M Scott Peck's 'People of the Lie'. Muslims in general are programmed by Islam into the specific and extreme destructive behaviour patterns and attitudes that Peck identifies as *evil* - seriously evil. Know what you are dealing with.).
