UK: Islamic schools teaching hatred of non-Muslims, turning out jihad terrorists

But not to worry: the Department of Education isn't "Islamophobic." They're also watching those highly dangerous Orthodox Jews and Plymouth Brethren.

"Extremism unchecked in schools, secret briefing reveals," by Duncan Gardham and Tom Whitehead in the Telegraph, December 31 (thanks to Raheem):

More than 100 independent faith schools may be radicalising students, the Department of Education has warned in a secret memo which admits that officials are struggling to tackle extremism in state and private schools.

Michael Gove, the education secretary, was one of the key voices calling for a ban on support for non-violent extremism when it published its Prevent strategy to fight radicalisation last year.

But behind closed doors there are concerns about 118 “socially conservative” independent faith schools - the vast majority of them Muslim - where pupils may be encouraged to cut themselves off from mainstream society.

Ministers have been told they do not have “detailed information” about the religious orientation of the groups and movements behind all independent faith schools.

And officials have privately admitted that they also have no system in place to identify institutional extremism in state schools, the Daily Telegraph has learned.

They say there is also “a gap between what we think we know and what we can prove” because they cannot use undercover methods open to journalists.

From January, the Independent School Standards will require a respect for “fundamental British values” including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

Ofsted has not yet trained its inspectors in how to enforce such standards but it is introducing a “specialist cadre” of inspectors to look at faith schools as part of a planned “prioritised inspection programme.”

However, the education department has admitted in briefings that it can only look at the “ethos” of independent schools, rather than how they are actually run.

And the department says it has failed to measure the mindset in state schools because it cannot work out how to “detect” extremism or a “baseline” to start from.

Of course it can't work this out, because it is institutionally committed to the idea that Islam is a Religion of Peace and Tolerance. Yet "extremism" is rooted in the Qur'an and Sunnah, i.e. in the core texts and teachings of Islam. But they can't admit that, because that would show up the absurdity and falsehood of their Religion of Peace dogma. They can't focus on what is taught from the Qur'an in these schools, for that would explode their core assumptions. So they cast about in vain for some other way to "detect" "extremism."

In the state sector, officials are only able to look at data where pupils are referred to a project called Channel, designed to help them move away from extremism.

But there are concerns that the measure is unreliable as some schools with problems may not have made any referrals.

Two teaching assistants in state schools have been involved in terrorism – Mohammed Sidique Khan, the leader of the July 7 bombers in Leeds, and Zahoor Iqbal, who helped a man planning to kidnap and execute a British soldier in Birmingham.

Religious schools are the fastest growing sector of independent schools with 80 new registrations a year.

Among “schools of interest” are three run by the Islamic Shaksiyah Foundation in Haringey, North London and Slough, Berks. Reports have claimed the foundation is run by senior members and activists of Hizb ut-Tahrir, an extremist political group that campaigns for an Islamic state.

The school said they had been reassured by the Department for Education that they have “no concerns about extremism in our schools” and said there was “no involvement of Hizb-ut-Tahrir activists on the board of the foundation.”

Another school, the Alif Academy in Forest Gate, East London, is also on the list. The local council has raised concerns about links with Hizb ut-Tahrir.

Hasib Hikmat, the head teacher, said he was “shocked” [shocked! -- ed.] by the allegations because the Department of Education had registered his school in 2011 and dealt with it “professionally and responsibly.”

Another causing concern is the Darul Uloom school in Birmingham, associated with the missionary group Tablighi Jamaat, where an undercover documentary recorded children being taught a hardline version of Islam that criticised Hindus and Jews.

The document also mentions a proposal to set up a school attached to the Central Mosque in Rochdale, called Darul Ilm, which is also associated with Tablighi Jamaat.

Neither responded to requests for comment.

The briefing document also highlights an application to set up a private school at the Green Lanes Mosque in Birmingham, which has links to fundamentalist “salafi” Muslims in Pakistan, and where another undercover documentary filmed preachers speaking out against homosexuals and non-Muslims.

The mosque said the school would be run by a separate board of trustees who “have not engaged, or promoted any sort of extremist related activity or otherwise” and who were addressing issues raised by the DfE.

To add to the problems the education department faces, included in the list of “socially conservative” schools also those run by Orthodox Jews and the fundamentalist Christian sect the Plymouth Brethren.

What politically correct nonsense. As if Orthodox Jews and Plymouth Brethren were going to hatch a plot akin to the 7/7 bombings. The Department of Education ought to be ashamed of itself for besmirching both by including them in this report. But here again, this comes from their anxiety to pretend that this isn't a problem with Islam specifically.

A Department for Education spokesman said Ofsted inspectors would not go out specifically to look for extremism but added: “Ofsted is working to ensure all inspectors have the necessary knowledge and expertise to determine whether extremist beliefs are being promoted in a school and then to take appropriate action.”

The government’s counter-radicalisation strategy, called “Prevent” warned last year that some people who are supportive of terrorist groups and ideologies had “sought and sometimes gained positions in schools or in groups which work closely with young people.”

The report warned that at least three separate al-Qaeda-related operations had involved people who became involved in extremism while they were at school, including July 7 and the trans-Atlantic airlines plot.

Eleven of the convictions for terrorism-related offences associated with al-Qaeda had been committed by people aged between 15 and 19, it added.

The youngest person convicted of terrorism-related offences was Hammaad Munshi, who was 15 when he was arrested carrying two small bags of ball bearings, a key component of a suicide vest, on his way home from his GCSEs at Westborough High School in Dewsbury.

The strategy also reported that a minority of independent faith schools had been “actively promoting views that are contrary to British values, such as intolerance of other cultures and gender inequality” and had “allowed extremist views to be expressed by staff, visitors or pupils.”

The document said there had been concerns that madrassahs – after-school religious classes attached to mosques - were promoting a highly conservative version of Islam and spreading extremist views, particularly against non-Muslims. It estimated that 100,000 Muslim children attended such schools.

For the Telegraph, it's a "conservative" version of Islam that promotes "extremist views...against non-Muslims," and "conservative" non-Muslims who oppose the spread of that version of Islam.

Extremism, radicalism, NONSENSE!!! It's just the bsaic teachings of Islam.

For me I tend to go with the theorists view of "Accum's razor".

Surprise surprise, and those who speak out such as the EDL are considered the enemy. They are going to keep building school after school after school to handle the influx of Muslims because they need more Sharia teachings. Gheert Wilders is on the money and knows exactly what needs to take place. Stop the immigration and control the out of control Mosques and Imams. Deport those who are caught proselytizing hatred and intolerance.

UK govenrmnet is PC and one that also likes to play with fire.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali should publish an opinion piece entitled, 'I Told You So'.

Years ago, when Blair and co. were still running the UK, she warned that Muslim 'faith schools' - and she singled out the *Muslim* schools, she specifically stated that there was no need at all to panic about, or ban, Catholic or Jewish schools - ought not to be permitted, because of what they would be teaching their pupils. That the Muslim schools - and *only* the Muslim schools - were *dangerous* to the society around them.

She said exactly the same thing, issued the same warning, to the Dutch government and also to the Americans and the Australians.

Here, for example, to show what I mean, is an item that appeared in Jihadwatch in **2003** - NINE YEARS AGO.

http://www.jihadwatch.org/2003/12/dutch-liberals-to-rein-in-anti-islamic-mp.html

"More recently, Hirsi Ali has added her voice to growing criticism of Islamic schools in the Netherlands. The schools have been accused of fostering intolerance and preaching anti-Western doctrines."

And from a 'Guardian' article published on Tuesday May 17 2005* (that is, just two months before the Muslim jihad terror attacks in London) - 'Danger Woman':

http://www.guardian.co.uk/g2/story/0,,1485350,00.html

Danger woman

...

"Muslims wanted their own schools and mosques, and the Dutch government happily provided for and funded them. Just as there had been Catholic, Protestant and secular "pillars" in the Netherlands, there could now be a Muslim one too.

"Hirsi Ali's recommendations to the Labour policy unit were blunt and radical: close all 41 Islamic schools, put a break on immigration and change article 23...".

And from an interview with 'Reason' magazine in October 2007:

The Trouble Is the West' [that is, the PCMC modern west making itself vulnerable]
Ayaan Hirsi Ali on Islam, immigration, civil liberties, and the fate of the West.
Rogier van Bakel | November 2007

Excerpt:

"Hirsi Ali: I think that we are at war with Islam. And there’s no middle ground in wars. Islam can be defeated in many ways.

"For starters, you stop the spread of the ideology itself;

"at present, there are native Westerners converting to Islam, and they’re the most fanatical sometimes.

"There is infiltration of Islam in the schools and universities of the West. You stop that.

"You stop the symbol burning and the effigy burning, and you look them in the eye and flex your muscles and you say, “This is a warning. We won’t accept this anymore.” There comes a moment when you crush your enemy.
Reason: Militarily?
Hirsi Ali: In all forms, and if you don’t do that, then you have to live with the consequence of being crushed...

'Reason: You’re in favor of civil liberties, but applied selectively?

'Hirsi Ali: No.
Asking whether radical preachers ought to be allowed to operate is not hostile to the idea of civil liberties; it’s an attempt to save civil liberties.
A nation like this one is based on civil liberties, and we shouldn’t allow any serious threat to them.

**So Muslim schools in the West, some of which are institutions of fascism that teach innocent kids that Jews are pigs and monkeys—I would say in order to preserve civil liberties, don’t allow such schools.** {my emphasis - dda}.

'Reason: In Holland, you wanted to introduce a special permit system for Islamic schools, correct?

'Hirsi Ali: I wanted to get rid of them. I wanted to have them all closed, but my party said it wouldn’t fly.

Top people in the party privately expressed that they agreed with me, but said, “We won’t get a majority to do that,” so it never went anywhere.

'Reason: Well, your proposal went against Article 23 of the Dutch Constitution, which guarantees that religious movements may teach children in religious schools and says the government must pay for this if minimum standards are met. So it couldn’t be done. Would you in fact advocate that again?
Hirsi Ali: Oh, yeah.

Reason: Here in the United States, you’d advocate the abolition of—

Hirsi Ali: **All Muslim schools. Close them down. Yeah, that sounds absolutist. I think 10 years ago things were different, but now the jihadi genie is out of the bottle. I’ve been saying this in Australia and in the U.K. and so on,** {my emphasis- dda} and I get exactly the same arguments: The Constitution doesn’t allow it.

But we need to ask where these constitutions came from to start with—what’s the history of Article 23 in the Netherlands, for instance?
There were no Muslim schools when the constitution was written. There were no jihadists. They had no idea...".

"...Constitutions are not like the Koran—nonnegotiable, never-changing.

'Look, in a democracy, it’s like this: I suggest, “Let’s close Muslim schools.”

'You say, “No, we can’t do it.”

'The problem that I’m pointing out to you gets bigger and bigger.

'Then you say, “OK, let’s somehow discourage them,” and still the problem keeps on growing,

'and in another few years it gets so bad that I belatedly get what I wanted in the first place...".

"...**Samir Azouz, another young man in Holland convicted of terrorist plotting, attended a fundamentalist Muslim school in Amsterdam which is still open.** {my emphasis - dda}

"He had maps of the Dutch parliament. He wanted to kill me and other politicians. He wanted to cause murder and mayhem congruent with the set of beliefs that he was taught in school using Dutch taxpayers’ money..."

And in the 'Evening Standard', of the UK, in February 2007.

By David Cohen
Evening Standard, 7 February 2007

'Ayaan Hirsi Ali, never one to shrink from controversy, has some words of advice for Prime Minister Tony Blair.

**‘Close the Islamic faith schools today,’ she says.** {my emphasis - dda}.

‘Britain is sleepwalking into a society that could be ruled by Sharia law within decades unless Islamic schools are shut down and young Muslims are instead made to integrate and accept Western liberal values.’

'Hirsi Ali, 38, the Dutch-Somali human-rights campaigner who lives under 24-hour police protection and is in London to promote her provocative new book, Infidel, argues that Catholic and Jewish schools can stay because the values they teach are not a threat to liberal democracy.

‘I haven’t seen anybody coming out of a Catholic or Jewish school advocating violence against women or homosexuals, or wanting to murder innocent people in the name of their religion.’...

‘They [the British] have deceived themselves that the men arrested in the [alleged] beheading plot last week and the 7/7 bombers are a fringe group of radical Muslims who’ve hijacked Islam and that the majority of Muslims are moderate.

‘But they are not. The plot to murder Muslim soldiers in the British Army is consistent with the purest teachings of Islam, which encourages you to kill Muslims who join the infidel army.

"Violence is inherent in Islam - it’s a destructive, nihilistic cult of death. It legitimates murder. The police may foil plots and freeze bank accounts in the short term, but the battle against terrorism will ultimately be lost unless we realise that it‘s not just with extremist elements within Islam, but the ideology of Islam itself.’...

And Mary Wakefield, of the Spectator, interviewing Ayaan Hirsi Ali in November 2007, was told exactly the same thing:

http://www.spectator.co.uk/the-magazine/features/376476/we-are-at-war-with-all-islam.thtml

We Are At War With All Islam’
‘We are at war with all Islam’
MARY WAKEFIELD
WEDNESDAY, 28TH NOVEMBER 2007

...'Are you so sure you understand what is at the heart of Islam? I [Wakefield] ask her. Isn’t there a peaceful prayerfulness — apart from the politics — that an atheist might not understand?
‘I was a Muslim once, remember, and it was when I was most devout that I was most full of hate,’ she says.
...'.

'I say, so let’s assume Islam is hostile and not open to reason, that it needs to be wiped out. The next question then is how? We can’t just ban it. Isn’t it destructive to curtail freedom so much in the interests of protecting it? Don’t you risk loving freedom to death?

'Hirsi Ali looks at me with pity. ‘You, here in the UK, are in danger.
Of course you can’t ban Islam outright, but you need to stop the spread of ideology, stop native Westerners converting to Islam.

'You definitely need to ban the veil in schools, **and to close down Muslim schools** {my emphasis - dda} because that’s where kids are indoctrinated.’..

'And if you close down Muslim schools, don’t you, by the same logic, have to close all faith schools?

‘**Islam is different from other faiths because it is not just a faith, it is a political ideology.** {my emphasis - dda} Children learn that Allah is the lawgiver, and that is a political statement. You wouldn’t allow the BNP to run a school, would you?’..(She could have added, 'you wouldn't allow Neo-Nazis or the Ku Klux Klan or the Mafia or the Triads or the North Korean government to set up and fund a 'school' in your country, would you?')..

Muslim migrants are living in a society which is institutionally racist. Brits must learn to respect and tolerate those who are different.Children should be taught about living religions so that they could learn to respect and tolerate those who are in their schools or who live near their own homes.

Multiculturalism is not about integration but about cultural plurality. It is not about separation but about respect and the deepening awareness of Unity in Diversity. Each culture will maintain its own intrinsic value and at the same time would be expected to contribute to the benefit of the whole society. Multiculturalism can accommodate diversity of all kinds – cultural, philosophical and religious – so that we can create a world without conflict and strife. Britain can assume the role of accommodation and concern for all peoples, for our planet and indeed for our survival. Multi-culturalism is even more important and crucial after 9/11 and 7/7. Muslim youths are also likely to feel alienated by a focus on shared Brutishness, rather than multicultural diversity. Rather than promoting a single British “us” teaching should acknowledge that “us” can be diverse and plural. Children should be encouraged to explore differences in appearance, history and religion to reduce social and educational fears. The pressures of multi-culturalism, racism, bullying and Islamophobia have forced the Muslim community to set up their own schools. There are hundreds of state and church schools where Muslim pupils are in majority. In my opinion all such schools may be opted out as Muslim Academies with bilingual Muslim teachers as role models. Such schools will be able to satisfy the needs and demands of the Muslim children and their parents.

A civilisation is measured not by the rights it grants its majority but the privileges it allows its minorities.
Muslim community not only needs Mosques but also state funded Muslim schools for their bilingual children. They need to learn and be well versed in standard English to follow the national Curriculum and go for higher studies and research to serve humanity. They also need to learn and be well versed in Arabic, Urdu and other community languages to keep in touch with their cultural heritage and enjoy the beauty of their literature and poetry. A Muslim is a citizen of this tiny global village. He/she does not want to become notoriously monolingual Brit.
Muslim schooling is on the rise in the West. Anti-Muslim attitudes in state schools contribute to its growth. there are 240 to 250 private Islamic schools in the U.S and 188 Muslim schools in the United Kingdom and out of that 12 are state funded. The increasing enrolment in these schools reflects the religion’s growing number of Muslims and the desire of parents to shelter young Muslims from discrimination and discomfort they might encounter at state schools. But Islamic schools, like mosques and other Islamic institutions, can be viewed with distrust and even hostility. Jewish Schools in Israel teach Children about Evolution. They has a curious way of teaching it. They said the Jews were made by god and the Palestinians evolved from apes. On the other hand, Muslim schools teach children that human beings are from Adam and Eve(peace be upon them).

It’s very important … for Muslim kids to be able to go to a school that affirms who they are and allows the creative space to be comfortable being Muslim. In an Islamic school they have a feeling of pride … minus some of the other things they might encounter. The Islamic School League of America (ISLA), a non-profit that connects Muslim educators and institutions, estimates that 40,000 students are enrolled in Islamic schools in the United States, a 25 percent increase from 2006. Those numbers are expected to keep growing as new schools open and existing schools expand.
There are plenty of challenges to start-up schools, not least of which is persuading potential students and their parents that the school is academically up to snuff. If you’re dealing with immigrants, you’re dealing with post-colonial attitudes, in many of their countries of origin, The way to move upward was through Western schools. … (In the past) they saw Islamic schools as not where they should put their students if they want their kids to end up in Harvard or in Oxford.

Bilingual Muslims children have a right, as much as any other faith group, to be taught their culture, languages and faith alongside a mainstream curriculum. More faith schools will be opened under sweeping reforms of the education system in England. There is a dire need for the growth of state funded Muslim schools to meet the growing needs and demands of the Muslim parents and children. Now the time has come that parents and community should take over the running of their local schools.

The Muslim community has been passing through a phase of fourth Crusades. The battleground is the field of education, where the young generation will be educated properly with the Holly Quran in one hand and Sciences in other hand to serve humanity. A true Muslim is a citizen of the world, which has become a small global village. We are going to prepare our youth to achieve that objective in the long run. A true Muslim believes in Prophet Moses and the Prophet Jesus and without them one cannot be a Muslim. My suggestion is that in all state, independent and Christian based school special attention should be given to the teaching of Comparative Religion and Islam should be taught by qualified Muslim Teachers to make the children aware the closeness of Islam to Christianity and Judaism which will help them to think about Islam, as “A Pragmatic and Modern Way of Life,” during their life time. Those state schools where Muslim children are in majority may be opted out as Muslim Academies.
There are hundreds of state primary and secondary schools where Muslim pupils are in majority. In my opinion all such schools may be opted out to become Muslim Academies. This mean the Muslim children will get a decent education. Muslim schools turned out balanced citizens, more tolerant of others and less likely to succumb to criminality or extremism. Muslim schools give young people confidence in who they are and an understanding of Islam’s teaching of tolerance and respect which prepares them for a positive and fulfilling role in society. Muslim schools are attractive to Muslim parents because they have better discipline and teaching Islamic values. Children like discipline, structure and boundaries. Bilingual Muslim children need Bilingual Muslim teachers as role models during their developmental periods, who understand their needs and demands.

Jewish schools would teach that Arabs are descended from Abraham and Hagar, not apes. How could you lie like that and think that anyone would want your advice on proper education in a multicultural environment?

You're at best a bad comic and at worst a complete hypocrite. Either way, grow up intellectually and stay, or don't grow up and leave.

Of course there is no mention of closing down those schools which do not ACTIVELY promote GENUINE religious tolerance and multiculturalism.

I would have some sympathy for Iftikhar Ahmed's view if his Quran did not teach hatred of non-Muslims and call for world domination. Islam denegrates all who are not Muslims. Sharia is appalling and Muhammad was certainly no example to follow.

Mr Ahmed's cultural plurality would presumably mean that Muslim men have authority over women and may beat their wives, who of course should not leave the home without their husband's or guardian's permission. Non-Muslims thieves would go to prison and Muslim thieves would lose their hands and feet. The age of marriage for non-Mulsims would be 16 and for Muslims the example set by Muhammad etc etc.

In Mr Ahmed's plurality non-Muslim pupils would be taught that all men and women are born equal. In Muslim schools the rule would be all Muslim men are born equal and have authority over women, but non-Muslims are inferior because as per 8:55 in Allah's eyes they are the vilest of beasts etc etc.

It won't work Mr Ahmed. Islam must throw of the shackles placed on it by the delusional self-proclaimed 'Prophet and Messenger.' Face up to it Mr Ahmed, there is no Allah..... unless of course you have genuine verifiable evidence of his actual existence. DO YOU ?
