U.S. negotiating to sell F-16s and tanks to Egypt despite lawmakers’ objections

They will most likely be used against genuine pro-democracy protesters and/or Israel, but we are not supposed to think about that. “Higher strategic interests” are involved here.

“Military source: US arms deal continuing despite lawmakers’ objections,” from DPA, January 13:

Egypt’s negotiations with the US to acquire F-16 aircraft and M1A1 Abrams tanks are proceeding smoothly, a senior Egyptian military source has said.

The source added that the negotiations are proceeding regardless of statements made by political opponents of US President Barack Obama, in what may have been an oblique reference to calls by US Congressman Vern Buchanan for the suspension of this deal over what he described as the “dictatorship of President Mohamed Morsy.”

He also said that news about fresh military assistance or deals always sparks controversies, which tend to subside when the deals are concluded. He alleged that those Congressmen or officials who oppose supplies of advanced weaponry to the Egyptian army belong to the pro-Israel camp.

He added that demands made by some Congressmen to stop weapon deals with Egypt are motivated by electoral interests, adding, however, that the US administration does not take into account the opinions of voters when it makes assistance deals because such deals are connected to higher strategic interests.

And what might those be, in this case?

Egypt has been getting US$1.3 billion in annual assistance from the US since it signed the peace treaty with Israel in 1979. Since Islamist President Mohamed Morsy assumed power in July 2011, a number of members of US Congress have called for withholding aid to Egypt.

I have said this before and I will say it again – the West’s real ally in countries affected by Islam are jihadists. The West does not want genuinely good people to ascend in these countries. Which is why they ally with the most abhorrent political ideologies in our countries.

That makes it is easy for the whites to claim that there isn’t nor will be any kind of noble sentiment in these countries and so we, the noble race, have to go in and ensure atrocities don’t happen. And then feel superior and treat non – whites at best with condescension, and at worst like non – humans.

All the military action against Taliban and Al Quaeda happened because these men were foolish enough to try to strike at the West too. If these men simply took a decision to direct their terrorist, murderous efforts only towards countries like India, not only would the West not act against them but would actually ally with them.

We have seen this game in India in all modern history. It continues today. And I hope the non – white people will wake up to it and prepare themselves for a two front war – against Islamists as well as against the white west.

What do you have to say about India historically supporting the Jihadi Muslims around Israel against Israel, ever since its independence? It’s not until 1991 (after the Babri Masjid demolition) that India had full relations w/ Israel.

Any Israeli poster would be fully justified in taking what you wrote, substituting ‘India’ for ‘Israel’ and the ‘West’ for ‘India’, and you’d get a pretty ugly picture of India.

So you are one of those noble race people…Does that make you a supremacist? You sound like a standard racist with no new or good ideas…

It’s ironic that a critic of the country that stopped the barbaric custom of burning living wives along with their dead husbands, known as ‘suttee’, uses its language to do so.

However, to the point of the article; what do you think of the bizarre policy of handing top grade weapons to a country that is being taken over by racists who want to commit genocide against the Jews?

Are you suggesting, or iplying, that we should not allow any non-Muslim Indians into our Western countries to live and work alongside the rest of us because they will eventually join forces with the Muslims – strategically, temporarliy – to attack us in the name of revenge?

Noble race was to be in inverted commas. “Noble race”. My mistake not to have used inverted commas. It was how Churchill described the white race. I do not believe that any race is noble.

And you should understand many things. You are also perhaps like those Indians who, when condescended to (though in subtle manner), do not even register the insult.

And what, precisely, do you gain by sniping at *me*???

Why do you seem to think you have a ‘gotcha!!’ and are now harping on it at every opportunity you get?

*I* have never said that I believed that the majority of Egyptians- i.e. Egyptian Muslims – or for that matter, Muslims in any Muslim-majority country anywhere else, were longing for and campaigning to get what westerners would call freedom.

I don’t think you will find a comment to that effect *anywhere*.

Of course, the Christian Copts want freedom and a decent life, instead of the misery of de facto and quite probably, sometime soon, de jure dhimmitude; they want equality before the law and they want the discrimination against and attacks upon them to stop (this won’t happen, can’t happen); they *have* come out on the streets from time to time, and we have seen what the Egyptian army did to *them*, on at least one occasion, so perhaps Mr Spencer might more correctly have said that this military materiel would very likely be used against Coptic churches and monasteries and neighbourhoods and crowds of unarmed and defenceless Coptic Christian protesters, as well as against Israel. There are some eight to ten million Copts, and they *have* come out and protested in quite large numbers, previously; perhaps Mr Spencer was thinking of *them*.

Anyway, I dare you to find any comment by *me* in which I have said that *I* thought that most non-Muslim Egyptians were ‘moderate’ or secular or longing for western style freedom, etc.

And I dare you to produce 25 comments by 25 different jihadwatch posters – from among the *regular* posters, that is, from people who have been posting frequently on this comments floor for three or four years or more – from within the past twelve months, that evince a belief that the majority of Egyptian Muslims (as opposed to Copts, and declared apostates) are in favour of a liberal democracy with full equality before the law for women and non-Muslims.

    Somehow, I don’t think you’ll find any.

dda, you’re the one who started it, by objecting to my complaint in a prior comment, then responding to my response to you by claiming this idea of “democratic Egyptian people” doesn’t exist (or virtually doesn’t exist) in the Counter-Jihad as reflected in prominent luminaries as well as civilian commenters here at Jihad Watch.

Your ideas are jejune and your reverse racism shows most notably. Grow up or go away.

I’d say there is nothing “reverse” about his racism. It belongs in the same category as white->black, black->white, japanese->korean, nazi->jewish, brahmin->Vaishya, brahmin->Kshudra, or hindu->black.
It is true that his racism is showing most notably, but he is not trying to conceal it either. Actually, the weirdo is flaunting it.

    Grow up or go away.

You of course meant “go away or go away”

    Am I right or am I right? :) :)
