You are right that one should assume innocence. But you may be missing the context of those ads. They are in response to an ad campaign by CAIR that tries to present jihad as if it were mainly about the struggles of liberal-minded Muslims to "keep fit," or to "make friends across the aisle," or other completely benign struggles. There are liberal Muslims. But jihad throughout history and in the core Islamic texts has meant primarily military jihad.

Bernard Lewis, eminent historian of Islam and the Middle East, says that in Islam's core texts, uses of the word "jihad" are military in meaning in the overwhelming majority of cases

He writes on page 72 of his book The Political Language of Islam, that

...the overwhelming majority of classical theologians, jurists, and traditionalists [Muslim specialists in the Qur'an, hadiths, life of Muhammad, and Islamic law] ... understood the obligation of jihad in a military sense.

For most of the fourteen centuries of recorded Muslim history, jihad was most commonly interpreted to mean armed struggle for the defense or advancement of Muslim power.

joshua, consider the global human rights situation. Here are bar charts from the international human rights organization Freedom House. The bar chart for the Middle East/North Africa -- the core Islamic region -- shows it to be the most unfree area in the world.

we have 'miriam rove', who was raised in an Iranian Muslim household but has freed himself from Islam; now and then we have a Syrian-background ex-Muslim, 'fineliving' (haven't heard from her for awhile, she was very distressed by all the Islam-fuelled mayhem in her homeland, I hope she's OK)

and we have, from time to time (I haven't seen him for awhile) Bosch Fawstin, a talented graphic artist who was born and brought up in a Muslim family but saw the light, and apostasised.

Yes indeed I have left Islam otherwise I would not be on this forum, I feel almost ashamed to say that I too was raised in a non Muslim environment and joined this cult. Also ashamed to say that I became very involved with it in things like street dawah in fact my videos and photos can still be found on the Facebook page of street dawah Australia I also become very involved with Hizb ut Tharir before coming to see Islam for the sick cult it really is.

As for a new religion I have not yet decided but would appreciate advise as my leaving Islam has occurred recently but rest assure I am a sincere apostate from this religion and would like to spend my time informing others about this religion it's the least I can do after bringing so many others into this religion as well.

Since you say you had some contact with the Hizb ut Tahrir sharia-pushers, I do hope that you have already passed anything and everything you may know, concerning their activities on our soil (and anywhere else), to the Australian Federal Police and ASIO and other relevant bodies, nice and quiet and private-like. You may *think* that such bodies would already know everything; but that may not be the case, there may be something you saw or heard, some name you heard mention or speaker you heard or video you were encouraged to watch, that may form a vital piece of this or that counter-jihad jigsaw-puzzle.

You may also like to consider - once you finish 'detox' so to speak - joining the Q Society.

One of the most important things you can do to rid yourself of the Influence of Islam is to consciously renounce lying/ falsehood/ deceit.

Reconnect with your non-Muslim family and friends or any other decent, sane non-Muslim person whom you feel you can trust. Steep yourself in non-Muslim culture. Feed your soul. Listen to lots of your favourite non-Muslim music. From the sounds of it, you have been deep inside Islam, probably deeper in than Saleem and Istanbul chick were; which means, you have been deep inside a very dangerous human-sacrifice cult that has been warping and controlling human minds for centuries. You will need time - and effort - to clear that cr*p out of your system; if you find yourself having problems - nightmares, flashbacks, panic attacks, anything weird - see a good psychiatrist or psychological counsellor - or a Christian pastor - and tell them you've been involved with a dangerous Cult.

I will pray for your spiritual and physical safety. You would probably be well advised to get a dog, and to sign up for self-defence classes. And: talk to your local cops, nice and quiet. Explain that you used to be a Muslim, that you have apostasised, that there is a law in Islam that those who leave it are to be killed, and that therefore if you *are* found dead someday, and there's evidence of foul play, the homicide team should prima facie assume that a Muslim did it.
