AFDI truth about jihad ads launch in DC Metro stations

In October 2012, Pamela Geller — a blogger and the executive director of the American Freedom Defense Initiative — told TheBlaze in an exclusive interview about plans to expand her controversial DC-based ad campaign that features an image of Osama bin Laden. The ad is meant to shed light on the fact that jihad is a tenet of Islam, but some critics argue that the ad marginalizes all Muslims. Geller and others who support the ad campaign, meanwhile, maintain it is directed at fighting jihad and radical Islamism.

Geller was embroiled in a long battle with New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) over her ads as well, but a judge ruled in her favor. After additional push-back from MTA, the outspoken activist’s ads were permitted so long as they carried a disclaimer stating that the MTA itself did not endorse the message. Geller won a similar case with the DC’s Washington Metro Transit Authority (WMATA) and now, her string of ads have launched in subway stations across the DC-metro area. The campaign, which will run for one month, is also meant to satirize CAIR’s “MyJihad” ad campaign, which seeks to minimize the definition of jihad and portray it as a harmless inner-struggle within one’s-self alone.

The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) has not been a fan of the initiative, needless to say, and has fought to have the ads removed on the basis that it is offensive to Muslims. CAIR executive director Ibrahim Hooper was featured in a Fox5 news segment about the ads on Friday, stating that Geller is “one of the nation’s leading anti-Muslim bigots” and that the Southern Poverty Law Center named her “as one of the nation’s inner circle of hatemongers of Islam.”

Subway-goers were also asked their opinion of the ad, with some saying that they do not like seeing bin Laden’s face given his role in the 9/11 attacks. This, however, is likely Geller’s point as she seeks to have Americans remember rather than forget the extent of damage radical Islam can cause....

vs.

In Arabic, jihad means inner & outer (warfare) struggle
— In Islam, jihad means only warfare (e.g. 9:5, 9:29) against the kuffar (unbelievers)

I'm not sure Geller would use the term "radical Islamism". but that's a minor cavil, given that many media outlets essentially lead off with some meretricious variation of "why do you hate peaceful Muslims so much?".

Exactly so.

Generally, The Blaze in all its forms—magazine, website, and television station—has been refreshingly clear-eyed about the threat of 'radical' Islam—they may not be completely Islamo-savvy, but given the state of the media in general, they are a definite bright spot.

And kudos to Ms. Geller for this latest challenge to CAIR's grotesque whitewashing of Jihad with their #MyJihad campaign.

CONGRATULATIONS~ PAM GELLER is on the list from the backwards Southern Poverty Law Center. she is in good company: FRC ~ FAMILY RESEARCH COUNCIL. fine group, congenial, SMART, tell the truth in a calm manner.

also, just heard on the computer, someone called up one of the people on the dingy SPLC hit list, and a sweet old grandma answered the phone. she and her little old grandma friends were TELLING THE TRUTH about some subject that riled the SPLC.

GOOD FOR GRANDMA & GROUP! CONGRATULATIONS PAM GELLER! CONGRATULATIONS for FRC. as the saying goes, sometimes a peron is well known for the enemies they make.

I am against Bin Laden's image in these advertisements. This man was a mass killer. This man should be reviled, his face e forgotten from the face of earth. Use the picture of the burning twin towers instead.

In just the same manner, when decent people use a picture of Hitler, it is not to show him respect, but to show the face of Nazi evil.

And the fact is that so many Muslims adopt the look of bin Laden, because that is *the* look of the devout Muslim. People *should* know the inextricable link to violent Jihad, truly know it, and Taqiyya will be able to make far fewer inroads.

What was Mohammad's jihad? He wanted to be slain in jihad (killing non-Muslims) to be resurrected and slain again and again. Of course, printing that would only encourage would-be jihadists to blow themselves up in a crowd. Such is the nature of Islam.
