Congress blocked Kerry from giving even more jizya to Egypt

The American economy is in the tank, but at least the Obama Administration has its priorities straight: the Muslim Brotherhood regime in Egypt must be shored up at all costs. "Congress blocked Kerry from offering more aid to Egypt," by Julian Pecquet for The Hill, March 9 (thanks to Jerk Chicken):

Secretary of State John Kerry had hoped to offer considerably more aid to Egypt than the $250 million he announced during his trip to Cairo but was blocked by Congress, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-Calif.) said.

“This is not the aid package that the administration wanted to announce,” Royce told The Hill. The administration wanted to release a “larger sum,” but bowed to the wishes of Royce's committee as well as congressional appropriators, he said.

Royce wouldn't say how much Kerry had hoped to announce, but the State Department has been pressing Congress to greenlight $450 million in direct aid since last fall.

“Our approach is not the full-throttle administration approach of delivering all the aid that they wanted to deliver, but rather a measured approach of tying tranches to results as it pertains to the peace treaty with Israel, to cooperation with respect to smuggling [into Gaza] and with respect to economic reforms to guarantee civil rights and the rule of law within Egypt,” he said. “That's the pressure that we're applying.”

Kerry announced the new aid package last Sunday during a stop in Cairo as part of his first trip overseas. The money includes $190 million in budgetary support that's part of the $1 billion in debt relief President Obama pledged in 2011, along with $60 million for an enterprise fund.

The aid, Kerry said, was a “good-faith effort to spur reform and help the Egyptian people at this difficult time.”

The $190 million comes from the $450 million cash transfer the administration proposed last year to give to Egypt to shore up an economy hammered by the Arab Spring. That money would be culled from funds left over from past Egypt appropriations going back to 2006 (the country gets $1.3 billion in military aid and another $250 million in economic aid every year under the terms of the 1978 Camp David accords leading to peace with Israel).

The forme chairwoman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), and the chairwoman of the appropriations subpanel on foreign aid, Rep. Kay Granger (R-Texas), placed a hold on the money out of concern over the Muslim Brotherhood government's democratic credentials and pro-U.S. stance. A Granger staffer said the chairwoman has been in continuous contact with the State Department over the funds and acquiesced to lifting her hold on the $190 million slice that Kerry announced.

Ros-Lehtinen lost her ability to hold the money when Royce succeeded her as chairman in January. She bristled when asked about Kerry's trip this past week.

“I’m glad he’s wrapping up this trip,” she told The Hill, “because every stop he makes he makes more of a promise of financial aid to our so-called allies. And if he doesn’t wrap up this tour soon, we’ll be further bankrupt.”

At the time he offered the aid, Kerry hinted that more money could be coming if Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi's government can win Congress over.

“The United States can and wants to do more,” he said. “When Egypt takes the difficult steps to strengthen its economy and build political unity and justice, we will work with our Congress at home on additional support.”

“The United States can and wants to do more,” he said.

Hey idiot Kerry, take a look at this number & tell me if it means anything to you:

$16,711,362,971,547.56

Doesn't ring a bell? That's the size of your National Debt, the 16 is the trillions. Your country can't afford to give one cent to anyone, let alone to Muslim countries that hate you.

Giving any aid to the MB is treason...There is nothing in the Constitution about 'giving' American taxpayers money away to despots...
The MB in Egypt is having its own problems...People are rioting and destroying things...The MB could get thrown out, and replaced with who knows what...The US is trying to 'buy' Egypt...The money will go down a rat hole as it usually does...

“That's the pressure that we're applying.” --Royce.

This Royce is almost as delusional as Kerry. As Royce's own comments imply, it is the threat of Islamic murder, mayhem, and persecution that is pressuring these criminal cowards (Royce, Kerry, Obama--the whole damn lot of them) in the U.S. administration to so foolishly and desperately steal the taxpayers' money and fork it over in the form of jizya to these Islamic supremacists. The Islamic supremacists will continue to engage in murder and mayhem, human rights violations, etc., anyways.

If these idiots want to apply economic pressure to Egypt for the above-mentioned reasons, they should simply hold in abeyance the announced sum until Islamic-supremacist-run Egypt actually meets the U.S.'s list of demands, which should include abolition of all elements of Islamic law and custom that result in persecution of women and religious minorities and which are contrary to the U.S. constitution, U.N. Declaration of human rights, etc. Given that the Islamic supremacists are unlikely to meet these demands, then at least the U.S. government will not have burned $250 million of the taxpayers' money.

In the meantime, any monetary aid should go to persecuted minorities in Egypt such as the Copts.

That is, of course, assuming that the American people are in favour of such foreign aid. No governments should be allowed to give foreign aid except in the cause of disasters such as famine, earthquakes, etc., unless voting or at least reliable polling indicates that the majority is in favour of giving such aid.

Maybe going bankrupt is the best thing that could ahppen to America?

At least it would slow down these trolls that are killing America.

There's a funny take on our weird ruling clique in: "Liberal Replicant" at:

http://john-moloney.blogspot.com/

The US economy couldn't be more problematic even if the past three administrations had deliberately set out to destroy it...which given the degree of Muslim Brotherhood infiltration into both major parties seems to be not entirely out of the question.

“When Egypt takes the difficult steps to strengthen its economy and build political unity and justice, we will work with our Congress at home on additional support.”

When Egypt takes those difficult steps, it won't need American aid. Different groups within the country will contribute to its prosperity. Its economy will grow. Tourists will return and maybe the country can become a leader and a force for good in the Middle East.....hey, one can dream!

A "peace treaty with Israel.....and economic reforms to guarantee civil rights and the rule of law within Egypt” are pipe dreams Never gonna happen. This is just more economic jihad on the part of the muslims and leaders of Western nations are blind if they can't see this. Blind, or complicit.

"$1.3 billion in military aid and another $250 million in economic aid every year under the terms of the 1978 Camp David accords leading to peace with Israel".

This is the result of not enabling Isreal to win the war that it clearly won against Egypt in 1973. These payment amount to blackmail by Egypt to keep the so called peace. This was pushed through by the coward and worst president Carter. Both Isreal and Egypt agreed to this since they both had something to be gained by it. The American tax payers were left with the bill.
I wonder how much a payment would be the next blackmail agreement would be with our Taliban loving buddies in Afghanistan after we pull out of that mess?

More Jizha money to Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood thugs "..to guarantee civil rights and the rule of law within Egypt.."?!?!

Watch riot police in Egypt pulling a man to the ground, stripping him and beating him...

http://crossmuslims.blogspot.ca/2013/02/police-abuse-under-morsi.html

I don't pay taxes to my government for them to pay tribute to a country that is unfriendly and has never beaten us in battle.

END ALL TRIBUTE!!!

TREASON: the little kiddies can't get immunizations, and the 6th graders from St. Paul Lutheran GRADE School got their trip to see THEIR White House cancelled due to vindictive obama budget cuts, but TRATORS Kerry & Obama fork over dough to the enemy.

who is it that deals with TREASON cases? somebody is falling down on that job.

Congress blocked Kerry from giving even more jizya to Egypt
.........................................

Good to see some marginal sanity from Congress. Of course, this is after we have already shipped *billions* of dollars in "aid" to Egypt.

More:

The forme chairwoman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), and the chairwoman of the appropriations subpanel on foreign aid, Rep. Kay Granger (R-Texas), placed a hold on the money out of concern over the Muslim Brotherhood government's democratic credentials and pro-U.S. stance.
.........................................

Bravo Representatives Ros-Lehtinen and Granger! Americans—their constituents in particular—should write them with support.

More:

The American economy is in the tank, but at least the Obama Administration has its priorities straight: the Muslim Brotherhood regime in Egypt must be shored up at all costs.
.........................................

Suicidal madness. If Egypt had shown *any* moves toward real democracy or a lasting peace with Israel then some of this *might* be warranted—instead, Egypt is worse on almost every marker—human rights, women's rights, the rights of religious minorities, a free press, relations with Israel—than was Egypt under Mubarak, which wasn't any great shakes either.

At best, we are paying them not to get any worse—with no guarantees or strings attached to guarantee that they won't.

The most troubling aspect, of course, is *military* aid. Who do they consider their enemy? Obviously, it is Israel.

More:

Secretary of State John Kerry had hoped to offer considerably more aid to Egypt than the $250 million he announced during his trip to Cairo but was blocked by Congress, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-Calif.) said.
.........................................

Kerry proves to just as big a tool as I suspected he would be.

More:

Royce wouldn't say how much Kerry had hoped to announce, but the State Department has been pressing Congress to greenlight $450 million in direct aid since last fall.

“Our approach is not the full-throttle administration approach of delivering all the aid that they wanted to deliver, but rather a measured approach of tying tranches to results as it pertains to the peace treaty with Israel, to cooperation with respect to smuggling [into Gaza] and with respect to economic reforms to guarantee civil rights and the rule of law within Egypt,” he said. “That's the pressure that we're applying.”
.........................................

In other words, Obama and Kerry didn't even want to go through the motions of linking aid to results—even though I very much doubt that this is anything but symbolic. Instead, they just wanted to shovel boatloads of American taxpayer's cash at a Shari'ah state.

Madness.

More:

Kerry announced the new aid package last Sunday during a stop in Cairo as part of his first trip overseas. The money includes $190 million in budgetary support that's part of the $1 billion in debt relief President Obama pledged in 2011, along with $60 million for an enterprise fund.
.........................................

We could do with some "debt relief" ourselves...

More:

The $190 million comes from the $450 million cash transfer the administration proposed last year to give to Egypt to shore up an economy hammered by the Arab Spring...
.........................................

It is now over two years since the revolution. If Egypt looked even vaguely hopeful, investors would be *lining up* to deal with them. Instead, anyone can see that they are well on their way to becoming a full Shari'ah state. They are likely to become much, much worse. Even the tourists are staying away in droves.

"Secretary of State John Kerry had hoped to offer considerably more aid to Egypt than the $250 million he announced during his trip to Cairo"

Well, Mr Kerry certainly has his priotities in order.

Help for America's working poor? No, slash and burn economics for you all.

100's of millions for the Muslim Brotherhood? Why, that'll do nicely.

Quality guy

We the People need to DEMAND that Congress stop ALL money, arms, and troops being given to our enemies. The global jihad leaders have declared war on the West, especially on the U.S., and that they will enforce Shariah law on us. Foreign aid is jizya and soon they will expect even more. President Obama bows and pays, but we have to refuse to pay or to submit.
