Grand Imam of al-Azhar hopes that with new pope, Muslim-Christian relations will "return to normal"

"Let's hope now that relations return to normal." Normal = don't quote anyone who says anything negative about Muhammad, even if you emphasize that you aren't endorsing the quote. Normal = don't say anything about Muslim persecution of Christians. Let the Muslim mobs do their work without "interference." Normal = shut up, dhimmi.

"Imam of Al-Azhar hopes papal relations can 'normalise,'" from ANSA, March 13 (thanks to Insubria):

Imam of Al-Azhar hopes papal relations can 'normalise' (ANSA) - Cairo, March 13 - Ahmed el-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, hopes the election of Francis I as pope can normalise relations with the Islamic world, the diplomatic advisor to one of the most influential figures for Sunni Muslims said Wednesday.

Francis's predecessor Benedict XVI angered the Islamic world when in 2006 he quoted a past emperor who called Islam 'evil and inhuman'.

Benedict's appeals on the behalf of Christian minorities suffering attacks in the Muslim world were also seem by some as interference.

"Let's hope now that relations return to normal," the advisor, Mahmud Abdel Gawad, told ANSA adding that el-Tayeb will send Francis a telegram on Thursday.

Normal = shut up, dhimmi. (Allah, Q.9:29 "Fight those who believe not in Allah")

5:51 "O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors"

Ahmed el-Tayeb should be careful what he says...He may be slipping into blasphemy...

"Ahmed el-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, hopes the election of Francis I as pope can normalise relations with the Islamic world" --from the article.

For a thousand years the Church was at the heart of Western resistance to Islamic depredation. Then, with the advances brought about by the industrial revolution, the West was able to raise its voice and at time military might in support of Christians in dar al-Islam, because the Church was still an active factor in the moral life of the West.

This is the norm for the relationship between Church and Mohammedism. And such a clear position is fervently to be hoped for.

In order for this norm to be revived, the Church must again assert its moral authority. No small task, that, given the abuse scandals not to mention the ongoing, mealy-mouthed political correctness that infuses many in the hierarchy.

Seriously, I would like to see him proclaim a Holy War against all Muslims, regardless of their geographical location - smite them hip and thigh till they can rise up no more!

I know that's totally off his agenda. Rather I expect either this Pope or the next to grow much closer to the Muslim infidels. The passion once found in the Catholic Church seems to have been subsumed in social activism. They certainly wouldn't want to hurt anyones feelings.

Grand Imam of al-Azhar hopes that with new pope, Muslim-Christian relations will "return to normal"
....................................

In other words, that is will return to ignorance and denial of the Jihad threat—and if it's too late for that, that it return to cringing dhimmitude.

Somehow, I doubt that *this* is what he has in mind:

"How much our predecessors the Roman pontiffs did labour for the deliverance of the oriental church, we have learned from the accounts of the ancients and have found it written in their acts. For our predecessor of blessed memory, pope Urban, did sound, as it were, a celestial trump and did take care to arouse for its deliverance the sons of the...church from the different parts of the earth..."

And yet, that was "normal" for a millenium ago—when the popes truly understood the threat of Islam, and its terrible, bloody toll on Christians.

And here's what Al Azhar considers a return to "normal" Muslim relations with Christians:

"Al Azhar Scholar: Christian Copts Will Pay Jizya"

http://www.publici.com/content/al-azhar-scholar-christian-copts-will-pay-jizya

Al Azhar got to be the biggest shithole in the middle east.

'Normal' means deafening silence when dozens of Christians are being killed and attacked by Moslems every week. Ah, the good old days!

Christians don't have the right to initiate a lawsuit against a Moslem under Sharia law or defend themselves from attack.

A message for Pope Francis and the Bishop of Worcester:

"To fail to speak a word in defense of the oppressed is worse than any crime."

A word in your ear, Pope Francis: do. not. believe. one. word. that. the. OIC. or any other Islamic entity has to say; unless it happens to be bloodcurdling death threats and/ or demands for jizya.

File all their slyly threatening letters in the circular file.

You should then ring up a little Jewish lady named Bat Yeor, and a certain famous convert to Catholic Christianity, named Magdi Cristiano Allam - oh, and a certain feisty American Maronite Catholic lady, originally from Lebanon, called Brigitte Gabriel, and then there is another wonderful Italian called Giulio Meotti - and invite them to the Vatican for morning tea and a nice long conversation.

Get Bat Yeor to explain to you the phenomenon that she has dubbed 'palestinianism'. What Christians from the churches within Egypt, Jordan, the land of Israel, and Arab-occupied Muslim-ruled Gaza and Judea and Samaria (especially Bethlehem, Jericho, and Shechem/ Nablus) is NOT necessarily the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. They do as their Muslim masters tell them to do; they carry water for the Jihad against the Jews.

You need to gently but inexorably - remembering our Lord who told his disciples he was sending them out, among other things, to 'cast out demons' - confront them on the antisemitism that poisons and cripples their spiritual life, whether it be from elements within their own tradition (though not, ultimately, supported by core Gospel teaching), or absorbed by osmosis or actively copied from the Muslims surrounding and bearing down upon them.

That is why you need to talk to - and *listen to* Brigitte Gabriel, because she - brought up in a milieu where Jew-hatred was as normal, alas, among Christians, as among Muslims - was able to free herself from it, and came to sincerely love, admire and support the Jews and the Jewish state of Israel. I would urge you to encourage Catholics worldwide to heed the likes of Gabriel and Allam, on the subject of tiny and embattled and precious Israel, its fundamental decency and its culture of resolute affirmation of life, and the necessity and justice of its self-defence against genocidal Jihad waged upon it not just by the local Arabs - Muslims and their Islamochristian water-carriers - but, in the end, by the Ummah as a whole, all the world's Muslims, 1.3 billion of them.

I would encourage you also, Bishop of Rome, and leader of the world's Catholics, to read - as your predecessor did - the last works of the magnificent Italian journalist and woman of valour, Oriana Fallaci, and in particular, her searing essay on Europe's siding with the genocidal Muslim Jihad against Jews (in Israel, and everywhere).

On Jew-Hatred in Europe
[article Originally published in Italian in the Panorama magazine , April 17, 2002 ]

Here is how it begins:

“I find it shameful that in Italy there should be a procession of individuals
dressed as suicide bombers who spew vile abuse at Israel,
hold up photographs of Israeli leaders on whose foreheads they have drawn
the swastika, incite people to hate the Jews.

"And who, in order to see Jews
once again in the extermination camps, in the gas chambers, in the ovens of
Dachau and Mauthausen and Buchenwald and Bergen-Belsen et cetera, would sell
their own mother to a harem.

"I find it shameful that the Catholic Church should permit a bishop, one with
lodgings in the Vatican no less, a saintly man who was found in Jerusalem
with an arsenal of arms and explosives hidden in the secret compartments of
his sacred Mercedes, to participate in that procession and plant himself in
front of a microphone to thank in the name of God the suicide bombers who
massacre the Jews in pizzerias and supermarkets. To call them "martyrs who
go to their deaths as to a party."...

"I find it shameful that the Roman Observer, the newspaper of the Pope- -a
Pope who not long ago left in the Wailing Wall a letter of apology for the
Jews--accuses of extermination a people who were exterminated in the
 millions by Christians. By Europeans.

"I find it shameful that this newspaper denies to the survivors of that
people (survivors who still have numbers tattooed on their arms) the right
to react, to defend themselves, to not be exterminated again.

"I find it shameful that in the name of Jesus Christ (a Jew without whom they
would all be unemployed), the priests of our parishes or Social Centers or
whatever they are flirt with the assassins of those in Jerusalem who cannot
go to eat a pizza or buy some eggs without being blown up...

"But I stand with Israel, I stand with the Jews. I stand just as I stood as a
young girl during the time when I fought with them, and when the Anna Marias
were shot.

" I defend their right to exist, to defend themselves, to not let
themselves be exterminated a second time.

"And disgusted by the anti-Semitism
of many Italians, of many Europeans, I am ashamed of this shame that
dishonors my Country and Europe. At best, it is not a community of States,
but a pit of Pontius Pilates. And even if all the inhabitants of this planet
were to think otherwise, I would continue to think so”.

We need a Pope who will stand up and say, like Fallaci did, without equivocations, without qualifications, "I stand with Israel. I stand with the Jews. I defend their right to exist, to defend themselves, to not let themselves be exterminated a second time".

A Pope who will speak up both for the Saturday people and the Sunday people; and who will furthermore remember *all* the non-Muslim victims of Jihad, and not be afraid to speak of their sufferings and confront, head on, those who are *causing* those sufferings.

In addition to the Angelus, Pope Calixtus in the late middle ages instituted the so-called 'Turkish bell', a long peal which was rung at midday to remind the faithful to pray for the defeat of the Turks (that is, of that particular set of Muslims who at that time - and for centuries after - were at the forefront of the Jihad against Christendom both eastern and western).

Wouldn't it be good if the new Pope were to pastorally enjoin all Catholic churches worldwide that possess even one bell, to resume this custom: to 'ring a bell for freedom', and that at the sound of that bell, Catholics - and Christians of other persuasions might be encouraged to join in - should pray: for sustaining grace for Christians suffering Jihad or enduring oppression within the lands of Islam; for the relief and deliverance of *all* non-Muslims assailed by Jihad and/ or oppressed by Muslims within Muslim-dominated lands; for the utter *defeat* of the global jihad; and for the conversion of Muslims to Christ?

I wouldn't hold my breath for this Pope to condemn Islam or defend the Christians being persucuted in Muslim lands. Why, because the Jesuits, to which this Pope pertains, are in the forefront of settling Muslim immigrants under the guise of refugees all over Europe and North America. And besides, the Christians that are persecuted are mostly non-Catholic who the Church does not give a hoot about.

You stated "the Christians that are persecuted are mostly non-Catholic who the Church does not give a hoot about."

The persecuted ones are 'mostly non-Catholic' sez you.

Really?

Have you forgotten the Lebanese Maronites? - who have suffered terribly in the past, and as recently as the 1970s and 1980s - read Brigitte Gabriel's 'Because They ['they' being Muslims'] Hate', to see what Muslims did to Maronite Catholics. And the Chaldean Catholics in Iraq?

I've seen quite a lot of Catholics copping it from Muslims in Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria and Sudan. Lina Joy, the ex-Muslim in Malaysia who became a Christian and was dreadfully treated when she sought to have her identity card changed to reflect her change of religion, is Catholic. There was a Catholic nun martyred in Somalia, and at least two Catholic priests martyred in Turkey. There are Catholic Christians in Albania - and in Pristina, Kosovo - enduring persecution right alongside the Orthodox.

I still find it mind-boggling that you seem to have no qualms about coming to this website - which is run by a practising Greek Melkite Catholic - and spewing non-stop vitriol against the whole of the Catholic Church.

Indeed, the objective result of your repeated and relentlessly negative postings, IF they were taken seriously (which fortunately I do not think they are, certainly when you get on your 'Whore of Babylon' hobbyhorse I suspect most readers 'switch off' and scroll past) would be to put Catholics off reading this forum; and to drive a wedge between Catholics, and Christians of other traditions. Which 'splitting of the camp' of the Infidels - or which exacerbation of disagreements and mistrust that already exist - would ultimately benefit nobody but the Ummah.
