Germany: Government-sponsored conference on Muslims in Germany irks Muslims by focusing on terrorism

Jihad terrorism is just what it should be focusing upon. German officials should be challenging the Muslim leaders in Germany to back up their vague condemnations of terrorism with real action against the promotion of jihad violence in their communities. They should be challenging them to reject and teach against the supremacist doctrines that call for Muslims to work to replace the infidel form of government with Sharia. They should be telling them that they must discard the elements of Sharia that contradict freedoms guaranteed under the German constitution. But even what is undoubtedly the German government’s defanged and politically approach to terrorism in this “dialogue” with Muslim leaders is enough to rile those leaders, who want the conference to be exclusively about concessions to the Muslims from the government.

–˜Terrorism” Irks German Islam Conference,” from OnIslam, May 4:

CAIRO — Repeating earlier years” dilemma, a government-sponsored conference on Muslims in Germany has sparked a storm of criticism for focusing on terrorism as a key subject rather than promoting dialogue between the government and the Muslim minority.

“The conference only makes sense as a dialogue with Muslim religious communities,” Erol Pürlü of the Association of Islamic Cultural Centers (VIKZ) which says it represents 300 Muslim communities nationwide, told the Süddeutsche Zeitung in a report cited by The Local.de.

Taking place next week, the agenda of the German Islamic Conference has drawn the criticism of Muslim leaders across Germany.

The agenda, drafted by the interior ministry, puts terrorism as a key topic for talks.

Though his organization has accepted its invitation to attend, Pürlü made it clear that expectations were low.

Kenan Kolat, chairman of Germany”s Association of Turkish Communities (TGD), voiced similar concern.

“In its current form, it no longer has any purpose,” he said.

The conference was established by then-interior minister Wolfgang Schäuble in 2006 to improve the working relationship between the government and Muslim communities.

Topics discussed at subsequent meetings have included plans to put Islam on an equal footing with the Church, as well as Muslim religious education and the construction of mosques.

Though it was first proposed with the aim of promoting dialogue between the government and Muslim communities, the event has witnessed a loss of support over stalled talks and lack of progress.

Making a shift towards issues of security, several prominent Muslim organizations have pulled out of the talks in the past two years.

Aiman Mazyek, chairman of the Central Council of Muslims in Germany said the conference needed an overhaul.

Ali Kizilkaya, chairman of the Islamic Council of Germany, described the conference as a “train travelling in the wrong direction.”

Equal footing with the church would mean Islam would be subject to all the same criticisms that the church is subject to. And then wouldn’t followers of Islam be expected to react to such criticisms with the same reserved tolerance that members of the church are expected to.

That is unthinkable for a follower of Islam. I mean, how could they behead someone who says a bad thing about their prophet? No, no, that just won’t do.

Interesting…If security and assimilation aren’t the goals of the dialogue what is?

I am always curious about the stated goals of these dialogues.

If the Muslim/Germans are serious about establishing common goals then why NOT discuss security and the prevention of terrorism?

Could it be that the Muslim-Germans have a different agenda than indigenous Germans?

It would be so refreshing if the non Muslims would just wise up and call a Muslim a Muslim, Islam – Islam and stop pretending that Islamic world view mirrors Western world view.

The fact is we do not see the world through similar points of view.

    Wise up.

AMERICANA who also posts as MUXLIM suddenly appeared here on JW in the last several weeks. I strongly believe *IT* to be a paid troll, *Paid* for each post IT makes. I also believe IT is a Muslim, or Muslim sympathizer, or at least an infiltrator to sow seeds of dissent, distraction and division. I have observed IT engage and enrage many regular posters here, in a short period of time, with banal counter-intuitive arguments. IT has annoyed “Champ”, “George”, “Miriam Rove” and many others. In an argument with Champ IT claimed to be a “Female”, which is why I call “IT” IT as IT’s writing style is distinctly masculine in nature.

It is remarkable the amount of drivel IT has produced in a few short weeks and the number of posters IT has offended; and the actual number of IT’s posts is far beyond normal. IT claims to be from the Boston area but with “strong” British connections and British experience (now enhanced to include many international connections and influential family and other connections). IT is constantly morphing and Chameleon- like adopting and adapting to and with IT’s interactions here to become all things to all entities. The truth matters little to IT. IT salts its nonsense with half-truths and dis-information to elicit controversy, thus occasioning responses it can in turn, respond to in an ever-burgeoning morass of garbage. *BUT* IT is paid for each of these so the more we engage IT, the more it profits.

IT tries to position itself as supporting the counter-jihad position but has a host of non-viable platforms, which clearly demonstrate a fundamental lack of understanding of the basic tenets of Islam or it is just deliberate obfuscation. IT’s basic argument is that Islam needs to self-reform and establish an international forum of “moderate” Mullahs to call for reform. Fat chance that. The quintessential non-starter.

IT writes long puerile sections while trying to pretend IT is in agreement. IT”s intent is to draw posters into endless debate about issues that have no traction thus diminishing the value and information in the article thread. All Classic communist agitate/propaganda techniques.

    Ignore IT.

Don’t waste your time engaging IT in any way. Trolls are paid for EACH post. This is why they begin arguments. The more the merrier, from their perspective. If there is no engagement, they move on eventually. Persona is difficult to camouflage. I will keep an eye for additional new monikers.
