U.N. praises Confederacy on rights of African-Americans — no, wait…

Absurd, obviously — and an indication of just how much the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) holds influence over the UN.

“U.N. praises Saudi Arabia on women’s rights,” by Jessica Chasmar for The Washington Times, October 24 (thanks to Kenneth):

As the U.N. Human Rights Council scrutinized Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, only a small minority of democracies raised concerns over the kingdom’s oppressive human rights record.

Out of the 102 countries that took the floor in Geneva, more than 80 of them praised Saudi Arabia, UN Watch reported. Canada, U.K. and the Czech Republic were among those who raised concerns.

The watchdog website said that anti-democratic regimes often engage in quid pro quo agreements. For instance, if China praises Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, the kingdom will return the favor when China is reviewed on Thursday.

Saudi Arabia is poised to win a seat on the Human Rights Council in elections next month.

Ruled under Islamic Sharia law, lashing female rape victims and beheading homosexuals, public flogging, amputations and eye-gouging are common.

Dozens of nations commended the kingdom for steps taken to improve the lives of women and children.

Pakistan commended “laudable steps taken by Saudi Arabia to promote and protect the rights of children and women,” UN Watch reported.

France commended the kingdom “with its progress in the role of women in society.”

And Mauritania, a county that still practices slavery, commended Saudi Arabia “for always seeking to strengthen human rights. “¦ We commend Saudi Arabia in terms of the progress on guaranteeing fundamental rights and freedoms, socioeconomic progress, participation of women at all levels and participation in society.”

Turkey also praised the kingdom’s “rise of women in civil service.”

Women activists have begun driving illegally in the kingdom as a form of protest. Saudi Arabia doesn’t outright ban women from driving, but it also doesn’t issue driver’s licenses to women….

At least four women defy Saudi driving ban

Who better to denigrate part of the history of the US than a newcomer middle-easterner like Robert Spencer. You may have come to America from the Middle East but you still cling to the instincts that come with that culture and those genes, espousing your superiority and loathing for anything that does not conform to your views (not as narrow as those of Muslims, but still…). Maybe you should complement your knowledge of Islamic history with a few books on the Civil War? Which BTW wasn’t fought over slavery. To quote Lincoln:

“I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races – that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race. I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the negro should be denied everything.”

That’s not unusual with peer reviews. Unscrupulous participants take advantage of and subvert the system.

You like to criticize Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia but have you actually been there. During my Hajj I was truly amazed how the people would leave their doors unlocked, with no fear that someone might come into their homes to steal. I would say that Saudi Arabia respects the right of people to their property a lot more than America. As a peaceful Muslim I believe that the best way to a peaceful society is to have a strict hierarchy in society, with clear laws and tough punishments so that people know what happens to them if they disrespect their superiors. America in contrast is a society in which you don’t know who to obey, and you see all kinds of crazy people thinking they are the master of everyone, like this White Homeland person. There only true master for everyone, and that is of course Allah.

  4. says

I suspect that (White Homeland) &(PeacefulMuslim) are one the same where one provides a lead-in for the other on this thread.

Better check that the real first name is not REZA and the last name rhyme with “trash can”

In defense of Saudi Arabia and its satanic influenced religion,
I must reluctantly admit that it is not absolutely 100% evil.

Excellent news. Now our liberal women of USA can migrate to Saudi Arabia to have better treatment instead of dealing with racist, women hating, bigotted conservative American men.

  6. says

Of course, let’s remember that Saudi Arabia is the MOST FEMINIST country in the world.

They ALONE recognise that AS SOON AS a woman’s hands touch a steering wheel, her OVARIES immediately are DAMAGED FOR LIFE!

This compassionate concern is behind preventing women from RUINING THEMSELVES by driving.

ALL of Saudi Arabia deserves a Nobel Prize.

What we see here with “Peaceful Muslim” and “White Homeland” is classic Good-Cop, Bad Cop.

It’s also classic Alinsky, but in a very twisted manner.

The mistake “they” make is thinking that they will have a powerful, disruptive effect by leading us to the marginalization of the “racist” guy, so that we favor the “Peaceful Muslim”.

It’s all very transparent, of course, and is almost laughable – except that these entities are dead, f*cking serious about what they are doing. Make no mistake. These people have an insidious agenda. They seek to divide us – to marginalize us, and therefore to bring on the Mohammedist onslaught.

Don’t engage these people. Ignore them. They seek to divide us. Don’t fall for their tricks. It’s all evil.

  11. says

the U.N. Human Rights council must be islamophobes…why else would they say that the status of women has “improved” in the islamic sharia paradise of eternal justice? it’s an insult to islam to suggest that there is anything amiss or wrong with the lot of women in islamic sharia paradise. don’t they know this? in fact, if things are changing, and women are getting more “rights”, there must be some backsliding going on there in the saudi kingdom paradise on earth.

  12. says

So I guess the trick then is, I need to start torturing and murdering people, and then stop so I can get praised by the UN? Yeah, that makes sense.

The UN needs to stop funding and participating in the UN while they allow monsterous civil rights abusers (the communist bloc, the Islamist bloc) to run their agendas.

How dare you compare the Confederacy with (P)Islam! Seeing the title you put on this article shows me that you know nothing about American history, the so-called civil war & the south! Slavery existed for 80 years in the United States before the Confederacy was even born & at one point even existed in the northern states! According to the 1860 census there were more free blacks living in the South that all northern states! Every one of the Yankee states had laws called “black codes”. These laws prohibited black people from living in their states with Illinois being one of the strictest states in the union on black codes & many of these laws were pushed through the state leg. by Lincoln himself who was an ardent racist! Many of the Southern states (such as Louisiana) had laws on the books making it a crime to needlessly punish slaves! My suggestion to you is read “Time on the Cross: The Economics of American Negro Slavery” by Fogel & Engerman, maybe than you will learn some real history!

  15. says

    White Homeland

I’ve been following this blog for some time, and I’ve never had any reason to think that Robert Spencer is anything other than a very decent man who believes in equal rights for all human beings. Not for an instant do I think that he is in any way a supremacist. So let me ask you, just what evidence do you have to support your offensive accusation?

I’m not going to comment on what you’ve written about Lincoln because I don’t have time enough to look into it. I hope others will.

  16. says

Maybe you should complement your knowledge of Islamic history with a few books on the Civil War? Which BTW wasn’t fought over slavery. To quote Lincoln:

One of the reasons the southern states seceded was slavery – the attempts to block its expansion into the west. Regardless, your sad attempt at making a personal attack based on something that you claim to be wrong still misses its mark. The confederate states supported and practiced slavery, so praising them for their view on the rights of African-Americans makes as much sense as praising Saudi Arabia for its views on women’s rights. Robert’s comparison makes sense.

  17. says

The Lincoln quote you cited in no way disproves the contention that the chief reason why the American Civil War occurred was because of slavery. Better do more homework next time.

Actually, modern historiography on the Civil War has come back around to the view that the primary cause of the Civl War was indeed the issue of slavery (rather than the needless war doctrine, the states rights argument, or cultural or economic explanations). Having myself taught a Civil War course for decades, I too can’t imagine the Civil War occurring if the slavery issue is removed. In fact, Abraham Lincoln himself was of the opinion that, but for the matter of slavery, the union would have been spared the brutal civil war that did occur.

Finally, as wrong as you are about the chief cause of the Civil War, your pathetic attempt to dismiss Robert Spencer as you did is even more revealing about the limited intellect you possess. I don’t know whether you are a sincere person or a baiter, but I do know that your ideas on sundry matters are deeply flawed regardless of the sincerity/deception matter. In short, you’re pathetic.

What repulsive crap. Robert Spencer truly espouses American values”something a witless racist like yourself is incapable of. Your implication that slavery is an American value is sickening.

By the way, I’m as white as you can get”Anglo-Saxon, Celtic, and Breton (Anglo-French). My mother was from England, my father American going back generations.

And yet, *I* don’t consider the practice of slavery a core value of America, either”how inexplicable! sarc/off

And your quoting a practical bit of statecraft from Abraham Lincoln from *1858*”when he was running for office”does *nothing* to invalidate such masterpieces of American freedom as the Emancipation Proclamation and the Gettysburg Address, where he referred to the ending of slaver as a “new birth of freedom”.

All of this, of course, assumes that “White Homeland” is a genuine white racist”it seems just as likely that he is an agent provocateur wandered over from LoonWatch…

Have you traveled through all of Saudi Arabia? Or just through some villages/cities/towns and
you’re extrapolating for all SA? In the town i grew up in decades ago (not in SA, mind you) also has a unlocked door policy. When someone knocks, the reply isn’t “who is it?”, but “come in. Who is it?. That kind of attitude is unthinkable in a larger, more urban city. BTW, is it true that there are plenty of villages in SA who lack things that the westerners consider indispensable, like plumbing, sewer and electricity systems and for all practical purposes people there live like they lived hundreds of years ago?

Also, my experience in other middle eastern countries makes me think that your “unlocked doors” experience in SA is an exception to the general rule.

  21. says

you are correct. There are a few exceptions that i thought you may not know about Saudi Arabia and here they are:

raping and sodomizing 9 year old girl by 40 year old men

    Executing gays

    funding the jihaidsts in Pakistan

beating the shit out of their women

other than that you are correct. m

You’re a liar! I lived in Saudi during the 1990s, prior to the Islamic jihad attack of 9/11. The peaceful, law abiding society you describe did not exist! Women were beaten for nothing, third world country employees were treated like slaves, and worse, and the psychotic killer, Idi Amin, was given sanctuary in Jeddah in return for reciting the Shehadah – I passed his compound almost every day on the way to work.
Name ONE Islamic country anywhere in the world where there is freedom of conscience and respect for human rights. None, there aren’t any! They are repressive, violent regimes.

We don’t want that in the West.

    You’re a clown!

  25. says

Have you been anywhere else in Saudi Arabia? When the people live in such abject poverty that even the Garbage collectors pick through the dumpsters before emptying them. When there are no Kufar left to produce anything. There simply isn’t anything to steal.

The mistake “they” make is thinking that they will have a powerful, disruptive effect by leading us to the marginalization of the “racist” guy, so that we favor the “Peaceful Muslim”.

Which is truly stupid and tells a lot about “their” intelligence if they think any reasonably informed human being would ever fall for that (also, “Peaceful Muslim” isn’t that peaceful, he may not be blowing himself up in a school bus while shouting allah akbar but he certainly has the same goal of making islam rule supreme). One just needs to look at the foundation of the US. Northern and southern states had polar views on slavery but joined forces to fight a common enemy. In muslim occupied Iberia Peninsula christian and muslim rulers often joined forces to fight other christian or muslim rulers. Throughout history the rule has been common adversary > internal divisions.

Besides, the time where muslims could cry “racial prejudice” (don’t know which race is islam, but that’s what muslims cry) is long gone, only brain-dead morons would defend the institutionalized persecution of other human beings based on gender, sexual orientation or religion as being “a culture neither better nor worse than our own and therefore worthy of respect”.

  32. says

“masterpieces of American freedom as the Emancipation Proclamation”

Have you even read the so-called Emancipation? If you had you would see on page 3 paragraph 3 where it states that ANY SLAVE in any state under Yankee control was to remain a slave! Where Lincoln had direct control to free salves he REFUSED to do so! In 1862 in Missouri there was a Yankee general by the name of Fremont who issued Emancipation for the state & Lincoln killed the order & fired the man!

As for Lincoln’s remarks in 1858 (2 years before running for president) he had these views his entire life up until the day he was killed! Lincoln was a life time member of the American Colonization Society, an organization whose only purpose was to depart every black person from the country! Yankee Generals such as Grant owned 3 slaves & refused to free them until Dec. of 1865 when the 13th Amendment was passed. Men such as Robert E. Lee & J.E.B. Stuart did not own a single slave!
So learn so history before opening your mouth!

  33. says

Yes slavery was “One” of the reasons, but not “THE” reason. Lincoln states in his first inaugural address that he had no constitutional right to interfere with slavery as it existed, but that he was going full force with the Morrill tariff an unconstitutional tax against the Southern states alone, raising taxes in the South by as much as 40%

  34. says

I have been a student & teacher of this part of history for more than 40 years & slavery was no more the reason for the war than the Jews & the holocaust was the reason for ww2. Slaver was already on its way out with the beginning of the industrial era. More & more slaves were being freed across the South & the 1860 census shows this as there were more free blacks living in the South than all of the north! If slavery would not have existed the war would still have happened because of people such as Lincoln, and Henry Clay (Lincoln’s political mentor) who pushed for corporate welfare (called internal improvements), high taxes & government control of everything! If you were a student of history as you pretend to be you would know this!

  35. says

You, sir, are an idiot. Of course defending its “peculiar institution” was the main reason for the secession of the Confederacy. And odd how you mention the 13th amendment only in passing, as though it were some entirely unrelated accident of history.

Moreover, I notice that in you impassioned apologia for the institution of slavery”which good Americans fought and bled to overturn’that you have *nothing* to say about the appalling lack of freedom in Dar-al-Islam, which is the whole point of this piece.

Given your lack of love for the fight for freedom, however, this is *hardly* surprising. *Ugh*.

  36. says

Yeah and just recently Shia Muslims were attacked and killed on their way to Hajj, so peacefulmuslim I guess you could leave your doors unlocked if you attacked or killed every stranger.
