The Dutch authorities are probably shocked that Radio Ghurabaa would be broadcasting anything but moderation, mutual respect and tolerance. After all, aren’t those things what Islam is all about? They know that Islam is a Religion of Peace that has been Hijacked by a Tiny Minority of Extremists, and it no doubt never occurred to them that any of those “extremists” could possibly be working at this wonderful new radio station. But oddly enough, they were wrong.
“Dutch counter terrorism body warns fledgling Islamic radio station,” from Dutch News, February 11 (thanks to Blazing Cat Fur):
The Dutch counter terrorism organisation NCTV is trying to have a fledgling Dutch Islamic radio station closed down for transmitting ‘jihadist ideas’.
Internet based Radio Ghurabaa has been broadcasting Dutch and English language sermons for just three weeks but the NCTV fears it could lead Dutch youngsters to travel to Syria and take part in a ‘holy war’.
The organisation has contacted internet service provider Versio warning that the radio station may not be lawful. The station broadcasts speeches by Anwar al-Awlaki, said to be a leading light in the al-Qaida terror movement who was killed in a drone attack in Yemen in 2011.
The provider sent the mail to the radio station which placed it online, saying it is being demonized by the NCTV.
The NCTV said it regretted the fact the mail has become public and that any further action will be up to the public prosecution department.
