Seattle: Muslim who tried to burn down crowded gay nightclub said “homosexuals should be exterminated”

Pamela Geller is spot on: “Where are the left wing, the gay and LGBT organizations denouncing the Islamic texts that inspire such mayhem and murder of gays? Where is that fierce gay leadership condemning Muslim oppression of gays under the sharia? Where are those brave activists who rushed to condemn me when I ran an ad campaign highlighting Muslim oppression of gays under the sharia? Gay organizations in America say nothing, but loudly condemned my ad campaign highlighting Muslim oppression of gays under the sharia. Why haven’t we heard from SF City Council, the Human Rights CommissionSFHRC head Theresa Sparks, and the enemedia? They called my ads hate and issued a resolution against my organization for merely quoting Muslim political leaders, spiritual leaders and cultural voices in the Muslim community who call for the torture and death of gay people. I  was denounced by gay and transgender leaders in the US for our work to highlight the Muslim oppression of gays. The San Francisco City council issued a resolution condemning our AFDI ad campaign (the first of its kind) focusing on the vicious oppression and subjugation of gays under Islam.”

An update on this story.”Friend said gay club arson suspect ‘may be planning terrorist activity,’” by Amy Clancy and Alison Grande for KIROTV.com, February 14 (thanks to Pamela Geller):

KIRO 7 has uncovered explosive new details in the case of the Capitol Hill arson at a popular gay nightclub.

Suspect Musab Masmari’s motive may have stemmed from his “distaste for homosexual people.”

Masmari is charged with arson for allegedly setting the fire at Neighbours nightclub shortly after midnight on New Year’s Day.

According to investigative documents filed in King County Superior Court, the 30-year old Masmari told a friend “that homosexuals should be exterminated.” That friend, a member of the local Muslim community, went straight to the FBI because he believed Masmari may have also been planning a terrorist attack. That friend became a confidential informant.

According to the documents, Masmari first met the informant at Fatima’s Cafe near the Masjid at Taqwa Mosque on Seattle’s East Union Street, shortly after the fire at Neighbours.

The informant contacted the FBI soon after meeting Masmari because he was “concerned” that Masmari “may be planning some terrorist activity” because he spoke of “something he’s planning.” The informant told investigators that Masmari told him “he had obtained a rifle.”

The unidentified informant also said that, in the numerous conversations after their first meeting, Masmari often expressed a “distaste for homosexual people,” and that Masmari “opined that homosexuals should be exterminated.”

“Exterminate is a word you think of – you exterminate rodents, you exterminate roaches, not people,” said Shaun Knittel, spokesperson for Neighbours nightclub.

Knittel would like to see hate crime charges added on to the arson charge. “If that doesn’t fall into the law of a hate crime, I don’t know what does,” said Knittel.

He said Masmari asked the informant during that conversation “whether they shouldn’t be the ones taking the responsibility upon themselves.”

Masmari was living in Bellevue when he was arrested. Neighbor Doug Poirier recognized Masmari from the picture on the news.

“We were all freaked out and concerned when we found out what happened,” said Poirier. “That’s just a sad hate crime to do something like that – to try to burn down a night club just because it’s gay oriented,” said Poirier.

Prosecutors allege it was Masmari who was captured on surveillance video the night of the fire, carrying what appears to be a gas can. He’s been charged with one count of arson and remains behind bars with bail set at $1 million. But this new information could lead to federal hate crime charges.

          I’m sure the 12th imam would get a laugh out of it — if he has internet service down his well.
          It’s even more laughable when you consider that public education in any islamic state consists of islamic indoctrination. A fact that is increasingly being extended to the US educational system from public schools through higher education.

        • Doug says

          The one encouraging aspect of this story, if true (and there is no reason not to suspect that the reporter is taking to some journalistic license) is that the perp was reported to authorities by a member of “the local Muslim community.” Perhaps some “education” influenced this action. I always look for sincere denunciation of the terrors wrought by jihadists from other Muslims but it is difficult to come by. This, if true, was a brave act by a lone Muslim. We need more of it, to be sure.

    • Free Speech says

      Which culture? Gay or Islam? If it’s Islam, well good. If you’re talking about gays, well, you’re simply deluded and should go to therapy.

    • RodSerling says

      Here’s what Salah cites so agreeably from Barnhardt (see part 2): “As I said recently, sodomy MUST be a felony-level offense or else the society is doomed.”

      So, yes, from that favorable and repeated citation from Salah, we can take it that he is not just talking about punishing them in hell (as some readers might assume). He wants them to be punished here and now. He believes society has a responsibility to legally prosecute and punish homosexuals. If society doesn’t implement those punishments, Salah believes, then society is doomed.

      On a more general note, a request to our resident IslamoChristians, whenever a story arises about some victims of jihad or sharia who are homosexuals, atheists, etc.: Modern Western Christian ideas, and non-Muslim commentaries generally, are welcome, but please, hold the “Islamo.”

      • says

        You’re wrong Rod. While I admire Ann Barnhardt’s analysis, I never said I approve every part of it.
        My positon is clear: this disgusting ideology or culture must be exterminated, otherwise the society is doomed.
        Fighting against a certain ideology does not necessarily mean fighting against people.
        As for the punishment thing, I am not qualified to agree or disagree with Barnhardt. I simply don’t know. That’s why I said: this CULTURE must be exterminated.

        • RodSerling says

          Salah,

          Re punishment, how can you not know what you want? If you support punishments of some sort in the here and now for those who engage in homosexual acts, then I’m not wrong on the general point. Decide that you are against punishing them, then I’ll admit I was mistaken–albeit by a source you cited as representative of your own views. Also note, in a previous thread you said you agreed with JessieJames, in response to my comments describing my understanding of him as supporting sharia punishment, on this issue.

          “Fighting against a certain ideology does not necessarily mean fighting against people.”

          I’m not talking about homosexuals being punished for discussing or spreading an ideology. The issue is whether someone should be punished for engaging in homosexual acts. If you want to stop the action, but the people doing that action don’t want to stop what they are doing, and resist persuasive and other attempts to get them to stop, then how are you going to stop them, without the use of force or threat of force? (Note: Putting people in jail or requiring them to submit to corrective “therapy” involves the use of force).

          “As for the punishment thing, I am not qualified to agree or disagree with Barnhardt. I simply don’t know. That’s why I said: this CULTURE must be exterminated.”

          Behavior is a part of culture. Homosexuals don’t just talk about what they do; they do it. Surely you are not talking about stopping people from talking about a subject. Again, if society is “doomed” if we don’t stop homosexuals from engaging in homosexual acts, then by that reasoning, on those assumptions, some pretty drastic measures would be justified to curtail those acts. Do you believe we should stand by and allow society to be totally destroyed, as you suggest will happen if we don’t stop homosexual acts?

        • says

          Sorry, Rod. I agreed with JJ on a particular point: homosexuality IS A SIN. Period.
          According to my Christian beliefs, a sin, ANY sin, even a simple lie, deserves a punishment.
          I also know that our Lord said to the adulterer woman (who is no different than any other sinner, including homosexuals): “I do not condemn you, go and sin no more.”
          In imitation of our Lord’s action, I think we should educate people by saying: Homosexuality is a sin, “go and sin no more” (in an effort to exterminate the Culture). We must also remember that God gave us a free will, we must respect that.
          Now, if a special kind of sin is harmful to the whole society ( abortion, homosexuality), then the law must deal with it accordingly.
          Ann suggests to treat homosexual acts as felony offenses. She could be right, she could be wrong. I don’t know. I’ll leave to the Church and honest lawmakers to decide.
          Is it wrong for me to simply say: I don’t know? I don’t know how we should treat homosexuals, but I surely know how we should deal with this disgusting culture.

    I think there is a better way to deal with this issue, innocent ppl might be hurt in the explosion.

    We Muslims need more allies to deal with these affronts to Allah swt. We need to make peace with the Christians, stop treating them badly in our countries, make sure that what they pay in jizya is no greater than the zakat that Muslims pay and allow them to build and repair their places of worship. Together with the Christians, we can be an unstoppable force to subdue the unbelievers in the one god Allah swt (even thought the Christians believe our own Prophet Isa (saw) to be one with Allah). We will subdue the idol worshipers and take their women for ourselves, half to our Christian allies and half to us, to aid in bringing into existence more believers, Allah willing.

    • CornHolio says

      Well Squeezie, I don’t think that’s gonna work out so well. I just don’t think Allah is gonna allow you to make friends with the Christians, so you’re offer of a “partnership” is likely to fall on dead ears, and be considered the very temporary “truce” it so obviously is, and a transparent attempt to get some anti-homosexual allies that you can discard later.

      You see, Allah will never forgive the Christians for their belief that Jesus is part of the Trinity. Ever. And I think you know that.

      [4.116] “Surely Allah does not forgive that anything should be associated with Him, and He forgives what is besides this to whom He pleases; and whoever associates anything with Allah, he indeed strays off into a remote error.”

      Get lost, but before you do, dimwit, consider this one matter: Christianity and other religions call for punishment in the next world, or for life again in this world, for wrong behavior (e.g., you go to Hell or you come back as a turnip or a cow, etc.). Only Islam, in its theological blueprint, mandates its followers to exact punishment in this world for going aginst religious dictates. Such a theological position is incompatible with any decent legal system deisgned for the widest latitude of opinion.

      Islam alone demands that its deluded believers act upon God’s will in the world we live in. No other religion does this in its theological structure. Learn this, refute my reasoning here with cogent arguments, or go away. No fourth alternative. Your turn.

However, we do not kill homosexuals, but pray that they would put aside their sinful lifestyle; just as we pray Muslims would put aside their blasphemous belief that Jesus did not die on the cross and is not God incarnate. We also pray that Muslims would recognize that when the Qur’an says that we worship Mary as the third person of the Holy Trinity, it is a lie (we say that in the ONE substance of the Godhead there are the three persons of the Father, Word [Son], and Holy Spirit–a brief exploration into a handbook of Christian theology would show this to you).

    I’m absolutely not impressed with the LGBT organisations who remain silent on Muslim homophobia (and that’s unfortunately the vast majority of LGBT organisations). Esp. since thanks to Muslim homophobia several (European) cities have become at least in certain areas dangerous for gay & bi people who can be identified as such.
    That even applies to cities which have previously been considered to be extremely gay friendly cities, like Amsterdam.
    The only good thing about this change is that many Dutch people, regardless of sexual orientation, are very aware of what is happening to their country.

    Are all of the LGBT organisations run by well off gay people who can afford to live in a more affluent area and as such don’t realise that most Muslims don’t think very highly of gay people?
    The double standard by many of those LGBT organisations is just ridiculous though the most tragic thing about this is that LGBT people who aren’t well of and can’t afford to move into a more affluent (and safer) area have hardly anyone to speak for them. They’re just left behind in neighbourhoods where they have the choice between hiding their life to an extent that resembles paranoia or be less careful about hiding all the gay traces and risk physical violence.

  16. Champ says

    Jesus condemns sin but loves the sinner …

    Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins and God’s wrath *if* we receive Christ as our personal Savior.

    Notice that Jesus did not condemn the woman caught in adultery, but condemned the sin and instructed her to go and sin no more once everyone who was prepared to stone her–walked away. Essentially Jesus saved her life by posing the question: “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” — John 8:7

    As to whether or not someone is born a homosexual–I think not. There are passages from both the old and new testament which make it perfectly clear that homosexuality is a sin. And all sin is a choice, and the wages of sin is death (more on that later at the end of my comment).

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    “What does the Bible say about homosexuality?”
    “Homosexuality is cleared condemned in the Bible”
    http://carm.org/bible-homosexuality
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    So whether there are genetic mutations that contribute to some people’s homosexual tendencies may be debated, and it’s certainly not a proven fact. But as to it being God’s purpose, intent, or design? No – He did not create them that way. He created only male and female.

    “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” — Genesis 1:26-27

    And I think that since God finds homosexuality detestable, then it stands to reason and would be safe to assume that God does not create people in a manner that he finds detestable.

    OK so why didn’t Jesus explicitly state that homosexuality is a sin? Some may ask, “Hey I find nothing *written in red* where Jesus speaks out against homosexuality!”

    One of the most common arguments made in support of homosexuality is that Jesus Christ did not explicitly condemn the practice. Supposedly, since Jesus never stated specifically: “Homosexuality is a sin,” then His failure to denounce the lifestyle can be interpreted to mean that He approved of it. This reasoning is riddled with error.

    For instance, where does Jesus explicitly state that bestiality is wrong? Where in the new testament does Jesus state that polygamy is wrong? Where are the “words in red” that specifically condemn pedophilia?

    The idea that silence from Jesus on a subject means He approved of or condoned the practice is ridiculous and cannot be substantiated …

    And Jesus did, in fact, speak against homosexuality. On numerous occasions, Jesus condemned the sins of adultery, sexual immorality and fornication. These terms describe any type of sexual intercourse that is not within the confines of a marriage ordained by God. Jesus then proceeded to define exactly what God views as a morally permissible marriage when Jesus stated:

    “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh”? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.” — Matthew 19:4-6

    Regarding whether or not Jesus approves of stoning–no He does not!

    The old testament prescribed the death penalty for the crimes of murder, attacking or cursing a parent, kidnapping, failure to confine a dangerous animal resulting in death, witchcraft and sorcery, sex with an animal, doing work on the sabbath, incest, adultery, homosexual acts, prostitution by a priest’s daughter, blasphemy, false prophecy, perjury in capital cases and false claim of a woman’s virginity at the time of marriage.

    But it must be emphasized that, according to the new testament, we as Christians are no longer under the harsh old testament law (John 1:16-17, Romans 8:1-3, 1 Corinthians 9:20-21). The concern with punishment is now secondary to Jesus’ message of repentance and redemption. Both reward and punishment are seen as properly taking place in eternity, rather than in this life.

    And I’ll end with some more food for thought concerning this complex issue …

    Lastly, if we die in our sins and without Christ, then Jesus is clear that you are condemned to hell. In fact, Jesus spoke more about hell than He did about heaven, and this surprises many people. But that’s a whole other topic that I won’t elaborate on here.

    Seattle: Muslim who tried to burn down crowded gay nightclub said “homosexuals should be exterminated”
    …………………………………..

    This just confirms his motive.

    And Infidels here who are anti-gay would do well to keep in mind that pious Muslims are perfectly happy with violently targeting straight nightclubs, as well.

    More:

    Pamela Geller is spot on: “Where are the left wing, the gay and LGBT organizations denouncing the Islamic texts that inspire such mayhem and murder of gays? Where is that fierce gay leadership condemning Muslim oppression of gays under the sharia?
    …………………………………..

    Yes—their not speaking out is just more of the suicidal “political correctness” we see so often in the West, especially on the liberal left.

      Yep.

      The Sari Club, Kuta Beach, Bali 2002. Husbands, wives, newlyweds, families, groups of friends, dancing and having fun. All blown up. 202 people killed (88 of them Australians) and 209 injured (many very seriously, left with permanent scarring or disabilities).

    Thanks, re “Secondtonone”:
    “Elsewhere, he came out in favor of FGM.
    Deeply disturbing—this poster is no Anti-Jihadist.”

    Agreed. No doubt he is a troll, just not sure which kind. He seems way too over-the-top on the anti-homosexual stuff, way too graphic and vulgar for a Westerner who truly opposes homosexuality and wants to communicate that message. And if he is pro-FGM too, then he’s definitely not one of us. If those are his views, then he is an “Islamo-” something or other.

    If one is sincerely trying to make one’s case, one does not, if one is a rational, sensible actor, portray oneself as some kind of vulgar villain. His portrayal of the stereotypical yahoo is itself stereotypical. He appears to be someone eager to portray the site in a negative light, and has no concern whatsoever that young people are part of the readership. Not sure yet, but he could be some “Loonwatch” type getting his kicks by playing this obviously buffoonish character.
