This is the streaming video of my talk at Cal Poly — California Polytechnic State University — in San Luis Obispo, California, on Tuesday evening. The actual event starts at 8:19, so skip up to that point unless you want to watch people coming in and taking seats.
The event was preceded by the usual Muslim Students Association grievance-mongering and bogus claim of victimhood status, with an article in the campus newspaper complaining about my imminent appearance, making wild claims about what would happen if I spoke, and asking that the event be canceled. Student Nate Honeycutt and the Cal Poly College Republicans stood firm, however, even under heavy pressure from a Professor of Religious Studies (who did not have the courage to attend the event, after promising to do so) to cancel.
The crowd of about 150 was made up of about 50 non-Muslim Leftist students, about 50 Muslim students, and about 50 people from the area. Things get interesting during the question and answer period, when the Leftists ask hostile questions, people from the town ask illuminating questions, and the Muslim students remain absolutely silent. I heard later that they were sending questions via email or text to the leader of the MSA chapter, who was near the back of the room, for his approval before they asked it, and he was nixing every one. Hmmmm. I wonder why.
