Syria: Jihadists kidnap two female Italian aid workers

MarzulloRamelliThese girls appear to be surpassingly naive, but the fault does not lie with them: they have almost certainly been taught nothing about Islam except that it is a Religion of Peace that inspired a great civilization and numerous inventions and innovations. They were almost certainly never taught that the kidnapping of Infidels is justified in the Qur’an (47:4) and Islamic law.

“Two female Italian aid workers who ignored their parents’ pleas and snuck into Syria have been kidnapped by Islamist militants,” by John Hall, Daily Mail, August 14, 2014 (thanks to all who sent this in):

Two female Italian aid workers have been kidnapped by Islamist militants in northern Syria.

Greta Ramelli, 20, and Vanessa Marzullo, 21, were working on humanitarian projects in the embattled city of Aleppo the Italian foreign ministry said, admitting that contact with the women is ‘impossible’.

Today Salvatore Marzullo, the father of Vanessa, spoke of his ‘sickening’ fear for his daughter’s safety, as Italy’s deputy foreign minister said the country is working ‘belly to the ground’ to find them.

The group that has kidnapped Miss Ramelli and Miss Marzullo have not yet been formally identified, but Jordanian newspaper Assabeel was quoted as saying investigators believe they an armed Islamist group which has previously kidnapped Western activists and journalists.

Although official details of the kidnapping remain sketchy, the newspaper cites a local activist as saying the women were kidnapped on August 1 and taken to the town of El Ismo, west of Aleppo where they were transported to the home of the head of the local ‘Revolutionary Council’.

The newspaper claimed the activist told them that details of the abduction came from Italian journalist Daniele Raineri of Il Foglio, who they say was taken along with the woman but managed to escape.

Speaking to the Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera today, Miss Marzullo’s father said he had pleaded with his daughter not to travel to Syria to distribute aid, but she had insisted on doing so.

Apparently speaking in a voice cracked with emotion and anxiety, Salvatore Marzullo said: ‘What could I do? Vanessa is an adult, a golden girl, brave and responsible. I tried to reason with her, I tried to convince her in every way I could not to do what she had in mind.’

‘But when you realize that all your talk, your thoughts, and eventually all your prayers are not heard, what can you do?,’ he added.

‘I could not stop her from doing what she wanted. It’s not like you can take a person and tie them down. Tell me what I had to do. Was I wrong? I had to tie her down?,’ he went on to say.

Mr Marzullo said his daughter had long sympathised with the plight on Syrians and had taken part in a number of protests and demonstrations in her home city of Bergamo.

While studying Linguistic and Cultural Mediation at the University of Milan, her interest in activism grew – as did her desire to travel to Syria and help.

Mr Marzullo said the family – including younger brother Mario – tried to convince the 21-year-old to stay in Italy and set up a foundation, but she said it wouldn’t be enough and that she must do more.

According to their Facebook pages, the two women have made several visits to Syria since 2012.

On their latest trip they flew to Turkey before sneaking into Syria through Atma – a huge refugee camp on the border between the two countries – according to La Stampa.

Miss Ramelli’s most recent Facebook update was on July 31 and showed a picture of a young boy holding a rifle in a heavily shelled area of Aleppo.

Meanwhile Miss Marzullo’s latest post read: ‘Red, red like that crib, and in the crib the battered little body of the girl of Aleppo whose legs were pulverised by an explosion.’

‘Red like the bloodstains encrusted on the walls and the floor – in the corner of the room where you have been tortured until you want to die, until you die in an unspeakably horrible way,’ she added.

Miss Ramelli and Miss Marzulo are not the only Italian citizens held by militants around the world.

Aid worker Giovanni Lo Porto, 38, went missing in Pakistan in 20212, while clerk Gianluca Salviato, 48, and technician Marco Vallisa were kidnapped in Libya in March and July respectively.

    @ gravenimage – I wasn’t planning to come back for this final note, but a woman can fairly change her mind when the Holy Spirit’s nudge is there suggesting it. Thus to honor what will probably turn out to be the memory of these three Muslim-abducted, raped and sexually enslaved women I am setting the record straight that there were in fact unwarranted, vile pro-rapist comments made here today in disrespect of them, their friends and their families, specifically:

    “bicky
    August 14, 2014 at 2:12 pm
    Probably they were excited about becoming sex slaves, that is the only logical explanation.”

    I agree; we will both probably be blasted”

    “Oliver

    I have no sympathy for these two women; probably will be criticized for that.”

    “Oliver

    To Philip J & Jan F.

    About kidnappings, etc.

    I am unrepentant.

    I have no sympathy for them.”

    I can’t help feeling the girls were aware of that possibility of being sex slaves. If not they are worse than stupid. They were probably swooning over the Boston bombers as well. Not being a psychiatrist, I can only assume they are insane.”

    I know that this makes me a bad person, but I have to admit: I always get a good chuckle when libtards get the business end of Islam for their efforts.”

    What is wrong with people commenting on this list that they would go to such a hateful pro-rapist place? (Rhetorical question; I’m not returning.)

    Others didn’t show a shred of real compassion for these abducted women, as if to jump on the bandwagon against the rape-targeted women and appease others who comment regularly on JW, e.g., —

    I’m finding it difficult to summon up much sympathy for these very foolish girls….”

    The 100+ plus comments here in significant part to criticize young female victims of Muslim abduction, rape and sex slavery sicken me about the haters who are reading and participating in JW. Bad enough to have to face the cruel evil of Islamic jihad without so many of the commenters jumping on the bandwagon of pro-rapist misogyny. Maybe stop watching so much sex-slave online porn featuring trafficked women and get your souls back, or get a backbone of your own so that you don’t have to “me too” the haters here.

    Those who persistently commented as above-indicated are a deal-breaker for me despite other friendliness from the non-hater commenters. The God I follow tells me to shake the dust off my feet and move on without returning here as a commenter. Hope those whose hatred is so great will find repentance and Jesus Christ, because He loves all sinners, and because living in your vitriolic minds must be appalling. Best wishes to all here who have shown that you are lovers of life and truth, and to all of who are decent and caring, a sincere good-bye. But not before this closure —

    To the beautiful, kind, open-hearted, compassionate, beloved Greta Ramelli, age 20, Vanessa Marzullo, age 21, and the Italian journalist Daniele Raineri who IS [Islamic State] sadists kidnapped with you — please know that (1) anybody who is a decent human feels compassion with you for your terror, desperation, pain and horror at what you’re being forced to see and do in service to satanic forces of Islamic men, (2) anybody who is a decent human sends strong prayer and/or loving wishes that you escape the evil that is coming to pass in your experience at the hands of cruelly sadistic kidnapping rapists and sex traffickers, and (3) if your escape cannot be, then know the fond and cherishing hopes of any decent human for you to be comforted internally and released from your suffering, and that my fellow authentic Christians (not in name only) hope to later see you in the hereafter as God’s children who are precious in His sight.

      Jan, I must address your unfair characterisation of me. You claim that I “didn’t show a shred of real compassion”, but you’re deliberately omitting comments where I did demonstrate at least a “shred of compassion”, here …

      I wrote:

      “I hope and pray that these two women are returned home safely.”

      Jan, I stated the above comment 3 separate times on this thread–in different comments–so shame on you for your gross mischaracterisation of me, and others, as well.

      Also, I did admit that “I’m finding it difficult to feel sorry for them”, which means that I would *like* to feel sorry for them, but I don’t, and I make no apology for simply being honest. Revealing my weakness on this particular matter was NOT an opportunity for you to rub it in my face and judge me.

      And you also accused me of this nonsense:

      “…as if to jump on the bandwagon against the rape-targeted women and appease others who comment regularly on JW, e.g., —”

      How ridiculous. Again, you have made gross mischaracterisations of me and Mirren10; and to paraphrase you, without a “shred of real” evidence.

      Get over yourself.

        Hi Champ, hope you are doing well my friend.

        Seems we are on the same page on this.

        • Champ says

          Hi Davegreybeard! …I’m doing fine thank you. Yes I feel conflicted over this situation, too. I feel tremendous sadness and grief for what these women are suffering–and for what their poor *families* are going through (I couldn’t imagine!) …but they *knew* the risks of what could happen and they did it anyway. Like you I feel anger over their choice. This awful news is just so much to absorb and process …take care, my friend :)

    • Davegreybeard says

      Well Jan, seems that this is your segue into that oh so wonderful feeling of self-righteous Christian rage.

      I can’t help but think that this has been building for a while. But FINALLY you got the chance to let it all out and tar a whole big bunch of us at here JW as “pro-rapist misogynist haters.” Good for you. Bet you’re feeling pretty smug about it all. And by all means, “shake the foul dust of JW off your feet.”

      Personally (not that you would care of course, and I wouldn’t want to get in the way of that righteous anger that you’ve worked yourself into,) I am conflicted about this whole affair. I feel great sadness that two beautiful young girls are to be undoubtedly raped and probably slain. I feel rage at those who will torment these young women. And finally I am angry at the willful stupidity of these girls.

      It is that very same willful stupidity, which those of us who are serious about fighting Islam, battle every day in every conversation we have with our willfully ignorant fellow Infidels. That same stupidity that is born of the PC/MC meme that these foolish, foolish girls became intoxicated with. Sure they “meant well” and sure they “had big hearts,” all very, very PC/MC, but when it came time to recognize Islam for the pure evil that it is, they were clueless – as those of us whom you have branded as “haters,” have noted .

      But it seems like you are more interested in enjoying your own little “righteous rage” at all the “haters” here than being useful in combating Islam. Fine.

      Come back when you come to your senses and get down off that oh so high horse, and maybe we can have a useful conversation.

      • Champ says

        Great response to Jan, Davegreybeard :)

        And it seems we’ve lost the only “decent” poster on JW, ho-hum …

        • Champ says

          And of course I’m being sarcastic …Jan is not “decent” but a sanctimonious coward. She referred to herself as “decent”, so I was funin’ her on that doozy, lol!

        • CA girl says

          Hi Champ,

          Haven’t you identified yourself as a believer? I am not necessarily taking Jan’s side, and I think your defense of yourself through your previous posts was fair. But I must say that these last couple of posts are a real turnoff to me in terms of your nasty, sarcastic attitude. Perhaps you were wounded by her accusations, which is understandable. But I think a defense with facts rather than a distasteful attitude toward another poster (“ho-hum…”) is a better witness.

          I have learned a lot from reading the posts but lately I have seen a lot of nastiness and unfair attacks (I’m not including trolls in this description). Methinks it is time to stop reading the posts!

        • Champ says

          Oh brother …

          Strange that “CA Girl” considers my lightweight sarcasm more distasteful than bald-faced lies!! …which is exactly what “Jan Fourowls” presented here to several of us. But nary a word from “CA Girl” to “Jan”. Whatever …

          Yeah I was sarcastic …so what, and God loves me anyway. Being a Christian does not mean being perfect, doncha know. And I’m careful NOT to lie, which is much more important than sarcastic joking around. So if I’m caught in a lie then of course an apology is forthcoming, but for minor sarcasm? …nah! Sorry, no apology for that one (oops, I apologized). Hey I think a little sarcastic humor is a-ok, so lighten up. “Jan” had it comin’ … :)

          Peace to you and yours.

    • Reality Check says

      Jan Fourowls,

      Would you please spare us the never-ending spectacle of your deep spiritual wonderfulness because it’s getting old already? You have done everything to demonize a group of seasoned posters who I do not remember being pro-rapist on any thread – but what really bugs me is your claim that you are doing this on a “nudge” given to you by the Holy Spirit.

      Have some realism and humility, woman. If you really think the Holy Spirit directs you with a touch, you are beginning to remind me of Mohammed who thought, or pretended to think, that he was doing everything on command from the Archangel Gabriel – but what makes you even worse is that you quote people selectively because you’ve skipped many parts where they actually expressed sympathy for the girls.

      Why? Because the good parts simply don’t fit your agenda. So let’s do a little “edit” here and there even if that changes the truth.

      To cut a long story short, I think you are a troll and the cleverest I’ve seen here so far. Your exalted spirit makes you too hard to bear and I really don’t care if you are “Fourowls” or “Four Owls” – you have engaged in too many ad hominem attacks to make me trust you.

      • Champ says

        *Exactly* right, Reality Check! …Bravo!

        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        And some might be thinking ‘Hey Champ is a Christian, so why isn’t she taking Jan’s side since she’s a Christian, too’ …well, I don’t side with those that LIE. And clearly “Jan” wrote some caustic lies about each of us.
        Hopefully, under the prompting of the holy spirit, Jan will return and offer an apology, but I won’t hold my breath …
        Oops, I was being sarcastic again ..gosh how unChristian of me, hehe :)
    After everything that the muslims have done to Italy, one would think they would be more vigilant.
    These poor girls are the victims of a seductive and deadly dawa campaign that has formed a lasting and unholy alliance with leftist ideologues who have surreptitiously injected it into institutions of higher learning all over the planet.
    The sooner the whole of the non-muslim world comes to terms with the threat posed by Islam, the sooner we can begin to remove it from planet Earth.
    These girls have good hearts, but, even though they had travelled to Syria before, you would think that they would know how to watch their backs better, or have some kind of handler ( a trusted Syrian) to watch over them. Maybe they did but got ambushed or something. Maybe someone they trusted either sold them out intentionally or was threatened themselves. Damn these kids who just want to do good need to be more careful. I’d be armed like a Mississippi Riverboat Gambler ; like Pancho Villa, with a criss cross ammo belt and grenades hanging off of my coat, dangling like pine cones in the wind. Hopefully they will be ransomed to their families and not to another Islamist group. What a horror for any family.
    Having just read all the way through this wildly-meandering comments thread, here’s some advice for anyone else new to the site and the subject, who may have lobbed in here, or who will lob in here, in future, and may actually have similarly read all the way down through the comments, in bewilderment and dismay.
    *Go right back up to the top and reread the posted article, together with Mr Spencer’s brief but pithy framing comment*.
    That is a good thing to do, whenever there is a massive flurry of largely offtopic activity in the comments section, and *particularly* whenever mohammedans – such as, in this case, the very obviously tag-teaming posters (or is it poster?) calling themselves, or itself, “mazo” and “semeru” – turn up and get busy.
    *Go back up to the top and reread the article*.
  12. Gardener says
    These girls almost certainly didn’t know everything normative Islam teaches and that Islamic values are radically different from Christian and Western values. Some things that are considered acceptable and even good in Islam are seen as abhorrent in the civilized world.
    Perhaps they thought all religions are the same, or perhaps they rejected some things they heard about Islam because those things seemed so horrible that retreating into denial was a more comfortable solution than calmly and analytically observing and evaluating the evil and its tentacles.
    Indeed, it is sad that denial seems to be the favored option at all levels in the civilized world when faced with evil. Instead of endorsing such a childish defense mechanism in both ourselves and others, we should inculcate the young to learn to face even difficult realities with courage, objectivity, and moral integrity. Denial never solves anything. On a societal scale, it makes every problem worse.
    The kidnapping of these two girls reminds me of the kidnapping of Amanda Lindhout in Somalia. From what I remember seeing in the media since she was freed, she always talks about the cycle of war and violence. Whether she really understands Islam’s role in both that cycle and what she experienced, I don’t know.
  13. SpiritOf1683 says
    Unfortunately, because of 50 years of political correctness, this sort of thing could potentially happen to anyone educated or should we say miseducated from the 1960s onwards. Political correctness has replaced common sense, so we have produced generations of gullible well-meaning Westerners who are ill-equipped to face the liars and deceivers of today’s world, and think everyone is the same and there is no good and evil or right and wrong. These young women are the victims of what they’ve been taught. Anyone who tells the truth about Islam and its founder gets branded as a racist and a bigot by liberals who are intellectually too lazy to discover the truth the easy way, and unfortunately, there is no sign of an end to this wilful ignorance. Churchill pegged Islam almost like no other, but he would have been branded a bigot today for his writings about his days and his observations on the Northwest Frontier in The River War and The Malakand Field Force, by those who owe their very existence to him.
    When will Italy and the rest of the Western world wake up to Islam? Probably when its too late.
    It depends on what you mean by “too late”. If the West only wakes up after a few million of its people have been mass-murdered in various ingenious terror attacks over the coming decades (with countless more wounded and infrastructure damaged here and there), that certainly counts as “too late” — but nonetheless does not mean we will have ultimately lost and will not be able to have finally gotten our excrement together to manage the problem through stopping all Muslim immigration, total deportation of all Muslims, and an international quarantine of the Dar-al-Islam setting up an “Iron Veil” that would be the reverse of the Iron Curtain, whereby that was intended to keep freedom-loving people imprisoned within a totalitarian regime, while this will be to keep freedom-hating people from trying to emigrate into (read: invade) the free world.
    Sarc off, but I think rational immigration policy considering Islam and Muslims would be great.
  21. Mazo says
    @Jihadski
    Illegal Filipina mail order brides however can be deported from USA. I’m not sure if they have any provisions in American law allowing for transsexual Filipinas specifically to obtain citizenship from marriage to American citizens. We can’t help you with that issue.
    If you can’t find any western white woman who wants to marry a looser, go marry a desperate eastern european mail order bride next time. It doesn’t come with the stigma of the Filipina since they can’t tell where they are from without asking them.
  22. says
    A Muslim by definition cannot truly be a citizen of any non-Islamic polity; though they can pretend to be — and be supported in that mendacious pretense by Westerners still thinking in terms of PC MC. Once the West realizes that, by virtue of Islam, a Muslim “citizen” never really became a citizen but actually is, as long as he is Muslim, an enemy of the state (for every Western country’s definition of a citizen necessarily includes that the citizen, even if only implicitly, pledges to not treasonously subvert the nation of which they are supposed to be members), it will not be a matter of revoking their citizenship, but of restoring the proper understanding of what they always were qua Muslims: deadly traitors (and/or aiders and abettors of same).
  23. Tradewinds says
    Voegelinian, I understand what you’re saying. Muslims loyalty is to the ummah and only the ummah. Everything else is pretense – deception – to invade infidels’ lands and eventually take them over.
    “War is deception.” – Muhammed
    Also, I think you should report the constant verbal abuse levied at you by Jihadski.
  24. says
    Thanks Tradewinds. I don’t mind Philip Jihadski’s constant demeaning abusive hostility as much as I do fellow JWers (some I considered friends) not taking him appropriately to task for it. But to me, PJ’s deranged hostility is far less important than the ideological softness vis-a-vis the problem of Muslims which he purveys in the passenger seat (albeit without a seatbelt) of that recklessly speeding vehicle of road rage — and more disquieting to me than that, even, is the seeming acquiescence, tacit approval, or passive myopia among fellow JWers in the presence of it, vociferously expressed and repeated.often multiple times in one thread, and spread out in multiple threads going back months now (and thus difficult to miss).
  25. Tradewinds says
    Well, I do mind Jihadski’s constant name-calling verbal abuse to you and it should be stopped. You’re far more intelligent than him.
  26. gravenimage says
    Philip, your constant denigration of Voegelinian as a “Jackass” is inappropriate and unprofessional.
    If you disagree with his opinions, say so—but there is no need to resort to this kind of name calling.
  27. gravenimage says
    More nastiness from Mazo.
    Notice that he has *no* condemnation of his pious coreligionists for kidnapping aid workers and journalists, but somehow believes he is making points here by denigrating an Anti-Jihadist for falling in love, marrying, and having mixed-race children.
    He then goes on—especially bizarrely—to suggest that the mother of his children was a “transexual”. Perhaps someone should explain simple biology to this Muslim supremacist…
    Most likely, of course, he is just hoping—ludicrously—to further disparage anti-Jihadsists, hoping that everyone is as homicidally anti-gay as orthodox Muslims are.
    I think we know who the “looser” (sic) here is…
  28. Philip Jihadski says
    @Tradewinds:
    “Well, I do mind Jihadski’s constant name-calling verbal abuse to you and it should be stopped. You’re far more intelligent than him.”
    _______________________________________________________
    I don’t give rat’s ass what you mind, or don’t. It’s very clear why I challenge Voegelinian, and it’s very clear why over the last couple of weeks that I have chosen the moniker, “Jackass”. But just to remind you…Voegelinian refuses to concede that deportation of American Citizens is prohibited by law. In fact, what he is advocating is SEDITION – that is, usurpation of our Constitution and federal law. As a patriot and one who cherishes our Constitution, you’re damned right I’m going to call him out on it until he either retracts, concedes, or ceases to promote sedition.
    And one more thing, Tradewinds – my father, grandfather, brothers, cousins and friends have fought for the rights of American Citizens. Some of them gave their life. So again, you can dislike my comments all you like, and you can claim abuse, or Gravenimage can claim “unprofessionalism” as much as she likes (oh, and GI? This site is not about who is, or who is not professional – it’s about free-speech, and last time I checked, disparaging comments fall under the umbrella of “allowed”). That will not change my tactics, unless and until – as I said, he either quits with the sedition, concedes, or retracts.
    It’s as simple as that, and if you don’t like it – tough luck.
    Got it?
  29. Philip Jihadski says
    @Oliver:
    “While deportation of American citizens (involuntary deportation) might be illegal, in this country…”
    ____________________________
    No. There is no “might” about it. American Citizens cannot be deported – period. And if you think about it for just a few seconds, you would realize how absurd the notion is; where are you going to deport an American Citizen to ? America?
    I keep harping on this, because Voeg seems to just want to gloss over the notion, and keeps insisting on Total Deportation (including American Citizens, who happen to be Muslim.)
    This is seditionary and he is advocating sedition. Simple as that, and I will not let it stand.
    http://www.miracoalition.org/en/resources/enforcement/deportation
    “3. Can U.S. citizens be deported? U.S. citizens cannot be deported. However, the government can attempt to take away the citizenship of a naturalized citizen if they can show that his/her naturalization application was “fraudulent” or contained certain omissions or mistakes (for example, if a person failed to disclose an arrest or conviction). A person whose citizenship is stripped may again be vulnerable to deportation.”
    And one more thing. I want to ask you this question, because you are very intelligent, and I’m sure you will give me the answer I already know…but let’s see.
    Assume Congress changes the law and allows for “deportation” of American Citizens. Never mind their religion or anything else. Just American Citizens.
    Where are you going to deport them to?
    Semeru is not an apologist for Islam and does not hold any positive sentiment towards Islam, he made that very clear.
    I have already noted that Semeru is a much more equivocal figure than is the repulsive Mazo.
    More:
    What he does is debunk “anti-jihadists” who tell vicious lies…
    ………………………………………
    His MO is to try to poke holes—usually without success—in any perceived shortcoming of Anti-Jihadists, either of Robert Spencer or of any posters here.
    He spends *far* more time on this than he does on the evil of Jihad itself—which is in itself telling.
    He is often, to use a biblical turn of phrase, straining after gnats, and swallowing camels without comment.
    This itself is a frequent tactic used by those who seek to falsely discredit a good and decent movement—in this case, that standing against the horror of sanguinary Jihad and brutal Shari’ah.
    But if it is sometimes difficult to ascertain what Semeru’s purpose is here—certainly, he also shows occasional flashes of decency—there are *no* such mitigating factors with the horrifying Mazo.
    More:
    You are the same liars as those Islamists who put up pictures of Tibetan self immolators and earthquake and Thai tsunami victims, and claimed they were Rohingyas getting killed by Buddhists.
    ………………………………………
    What absolute crap. There is a virtual *mountain* of evidence of Islamic savagery here at Jihad Watch, day in and day out, most of it from large and completely reputable media outlets.
    His implication that all of this horror is somehow trumped up by ‘Islamophobes’ is just grimly laughable.
    If he has a problem with all the evidence of Islamic evil, then he should take it up with his rabid coreligionists—but he won’t, because he approves of it.
    More:
    I have never tried proselytizing any kind of ideology or religion to anyone here…
    ………………………………………
    No, because this is not Mazo’s MO. Instead, he tries to debunk the idea that Islam presents any threat to others—and he does this with a sandstorm of trivia, verbose off-topic crap, and misleading half-truths.
    He figures if he can distract us enough that we will forget all about the savagery of his coreligionists—that we will forget about the ugly kidnapping of these poor aid workers while we mull over obscure and irrelevant topics like whether Tibet’s border dispute with China in the 1930s was legitimate or not.
    Too bad for him—it’s not working.
    More:
    It is clear that you know you are the one defending liars and telling lies yourself. A cowardly, miserly, craven liar.
    ………………………………………
    More crap. Our entire purpose here—save for trolls like Mazo, of course—is to stand against the terrible threat of Jihadists like the kidnappers of these poor girls.
    Any occasional errors made by any posters here—myself included—are minor matters. If someone points out a mistake on my part, I acknowledge it—and usually thank the person who points it out.
    My aim, of course, is to be accurate in every particular—but Mazo’s implication that one must be omniscient or else one has no right to stand against evil is simply ludicrous and false.
    We don’t have to be infallible to stand against the terrible threat of Jihad—we just have to care about opposing the greatest evil of our time.
  37. gravenimage says
    Also note Mazo’s appalling denigration of the erudite and decent Dumbledore’s Army as “Voldemort’s Army”—as though opposing the evil of Jihad were evil itself.
    *That* gives you an idea of his appalling inversion of standards of moral decency. *Ugh*.
  38. says
    Mazo cites a compact paragraph of unverified assertions based upon private interpretation from Kepha (including the usual anecdotal evidence we get from asymptotics about the grand nice Muslims they have personally known); but a Christian Wilsonian like Kepha is of dubious usefulness for the Counter-Jihad. Kepha’s “DDA” refers to dumbledoresarmy, whom Mazo in juvenile fashion, resembling PJ’s puerile style, calls “Voldemort’s army”:
    @DDA: Mazo is historically right when he points out that Pattani and that area were conquered by the Ayutthaia Kings back in the 1400′s. Yes, Buddhists beat up on the Muslims at that time.
    Oh? And were Muslims magically absent from SE Asia before the 15th century? Or does Kepha buy the myth that Muslim expansion into SE Asia was “peaceful”?
    But I happen to know that many Muslims in Thailand are perfectly loyal subjects of the Prabhat Somdet PraChao yu Hua–including the Mandarin-speaking Hui of the northern regions…
    Beware of Counter-Jihad softies who claim apodictic knowledge about how good some Muslims are, based upon an apparent ability to mind-read Muslims.
    As I’ve said elsewhere, I have a sneaky hunch that the anonymity of the terrorist groups in S. Thailand may indicate that a lot of the Muslim population is not sympathetic to their cause.
    The deadly danger of Muslims (in a symbiosis of violent jihad and stealth jihad using precisely the type of disinformation taqiyya that fulls gullible Wilsonians like Kepha) and our inability to tell the difference between harmless Muslims (if indeed they even exist) and dangerous Muslims should lead us to the grim conclusion that if we are going to have to make guesses based on “sneaky hunches”, we should never do so by granting any Muslim the benefit of the doubt.
    Or they could become like Amanda Lindhout, the naive Canadian amateur journalist who convinced her boyfriend to go with her into the hellhole of Somalia, where they were soon “set up” by their Muslim “fixer” to be abducted, and she was subsequently submitted to horrible gang-rapes and physical and psychological torture (including beatings, and Russian Roulette with a rifle). Interestingly, she and her boyfriend decided early in their ordeal to convert to Islam — but her Muslim captors continued the torture and raping of her nonetheless. Finally, after 15 months of suffering this nightmare, they let her and her boyfriend go after a ransom of half a million dollars was scraped together by her family.
    Afterwards, she gave some speeches and did some interviews, and wrote a book about her ordeal, then founded a starry-eyed Wilsonian human rights organization, the Global Enrichment Foundation “which supports girls’ and women’s education in Somalia and Kenya”.
    In an interview she gave after having been back home in Canada safe and sound and having begun her starry-eyed Wilsonian salvation of her abusers and the Muslim people who, of course, must be “victims” like she was (a recklessly Islamonaive conceit shared by quite a few Jihad Watchers, I have noticed over the years), she recounts a crucial epiphany she had while in Islamic captivity, an epiphany which she says is really the founding core of why she founded her starry-eyed Wilsonian human rights foundation, and how it represents her way of saving herself after nearly being physically, sexually, and psychically destroyed:
    In answering the interviewer’s question about how and when she found the hope out of her ordeal, she says it happened in captivity.
    “I had one specific moment… it was a moment where I had absolute clarity of understanding, that the boy who was abusing me was the product of his environment. And in that moment, what I felt for him, surprisingly — surprisingly most to me — was compassion for this boy who I understood in this moment was a product of his environment, who was shaped by the violence and the war around him and whose suffering was maybe bigger than mine…”
    The reader (or viewer) may not realize what is being said here by Lindhout: She had an epiphany — at the same time as she was being raped — that the Muslim raping her was suffering more than she was… There you go: the mental disease of PC MC morphing into the grotesque Stockholm Syndrome redemption of one’s abusers in order to find narcisstic salvation as a Guilty White Savior-Suffering Servant whose whole meaning of life now finds repose in the White Man’s Burden of “helping” Muslims in Somalia.
    And she’s not the only white idiot endangering our lives thus with their PC MC disease. There have also been Yvonne Ridley and Joanie de Rijke; and others.
    PJ has said he has worked somewhere in the Muslim world (more than once I believe), not sure where but perhaps Saudi Arabia or one of the Emirates. As far as I know he never said he “knew some good Muslims” from his experience there; I just made a smart insinuation once that perhaps something “rubbed off on him” whilst there.
    “The thing is, nasty temperd and hateful as he is, Jihadski said no such thing, he said he hates all Muslims.”
    As far as I know, PJ has never said he “hates all Muslims”. And given that his position on this — at least the semi-incoherent morass one can try to make sense of — regularly seems to refer back to a baseline anxious to protect the speculative category of the innocent Muslims, one would not reasonably err on the side of presuming he hates all Muslims at all. Given this, it is likely his experience working in the Muslim world involved a few relationships with Muslims he deemed to be trustworthy, friendly, more or less secularized; the usual type of Muslim which so easily fools the gullible Western traveler in a Tom-Friedman sort of way; and that these personal experiences inform his CJ Softitude. Deeper than this, I hypothesize a psychological paradox that seems to typify the CJ Softy: deep down, precisely because they have learned as much as they have about the dark side of Islam, they feel that all Muslims are dangerous; but an internal censor, still infected with the PC MC virus, sets up a psychological roadblock to thinking that through rationally; and this leads them to transfer the psychological energy from the enormous tension of reasonable concern, dismay and fear that is built up and project it onto someone who articulates explicitly and out loud what their deepest psyche is already feeling. And thus their internal censor in its vigilance doubles its effort, not only to attend to the thought crime of the conscience inside him, but also to lash out at his neighbor who reminds him of that inner voice he has been so assiduously trying to quell inside himself.
    I spent some time trying to plumb this rather complex psychological phenomenon in my blog essay “Ethical Narcissism” —
