Yazidis say Sunni Muslim neighbors enabled jihad attack, and joined in

Killedbyfriend.jpgThe above photo and its caption are from the June 19, 2013 New York Times. They illustrate how the call to jihad can override all existing loyalties — such that a Syrian Alawite can suddenly be murdered by his Sunni friend. There are innumerable other examples, such as Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s 9/11/11 throat-slitting murder of his Jewish “best friend.” In September 2013, Christians in Maaloula, Syria said that their Muslim neighbors had aided jihad attacks against them. And in July 2014, Christian refugees from Mosul said that their Muslim neighbors had helped drive them out of the city.

An anecdote from the Ottoman Empire in the late nineteenth century:

Then one night, my husband came home and told me that the padisha had sent word that we were to kill all the Christians in our village, and that we would have to kill our neighbours. I was very angry, and told him that I did not care who gave such orders, they were wrong. These neighbours had always been kind to us, and if he dared to kill them Allah would pay us out. I tried all I could to stop him, but he killed them — killed them with his own hand. (Sir Edwin Pears, Turkey and Its People, London: Methuen and Co., 1911,p. 39)

“Iraq Yazidis say Sunni Muslim neighbours enabled jihadist attack,” by Serene Assir, Agence France-Presse, August 14, 2014 (thanks to Twostellas):

Yazidis fleeing a jihadist onslaught in northern Iraq say neighbours took up arms alongside their attackers, informing on members of the religious minority and helping the militants take over.

“The (non-Iraqi) jihadists were Afghans, Bosnians, Arabs and even Americans and British fighters,” said Sabah Hajji Hassan, a 68-year-old Yazidi who managed to flee the bloody offensive by the Islamic State (IS) jihadist group.

“But the worst killings came from the people living among us, our (Sunni) Muslim neighbours.” “The Metwet, Khawata and Kejala tribes – they were all our neighbours. But they joined the IS, took heavy weapons from them, and informed on who was Yazidi and who was not. Our neighbours made the IS takeover possible,” the distraught white-bearded Hassan said.

The IS attack on Yazidi villages in the area of Mount Sinjar began nearly two weeks ago, the latest chapter in an offensive that has seen the jihadist group seize large swathes of Iraqi territory, forcing minorities either to convert to Islam, flee or be killed.

The IS onslaught in Iraq, which began in June and has since overrun chunks of five provinces, is the culmination of a more than year-long surge in violence in which hundreds of Iraqis have been killed each month.

The Sunni tribes in our area were given a choice by the IS: either they collaborate or they get killed. So they joined them,” said Mahmud Haidar, a 24-year-old Yazidi who managed to flee.

Haidar is a former member of Iraq’s security forces. “Every Iraqi knows how to handle a weapon, so the tribesmen did not need training. The IS gave them heavy weapons, armoured vehicles, AK-47s and rocket-propelled grenades that they had captured from the Iraqi army,” said the gaunt young man, puffing nervously on a cigarette.

Speaking to AFP in a transit camp run by the local Kurdish authorities for the displaced, Haidar said his childhood friend was among those who joined the IS.

“I was shocked. The IS brainwashed him, and he started informing on who was Yazidi,” he said. “I would have been executed immediately had they found me.”

Several of the displaced gave harrowing accounts of how the IS chased Yazidis fleeing through the streets, gunning some people down and kidnapping others.

“They took all the women in my family, and even little girls,” said Hamid Kurdo. “There were corpses everywhere in my village,” said Khodaida Hussein, a 46-year-old man.

“They were telling people that either they join Islam – their Islam – or they die,” he said, adding that they were given a 72-hour ultimatum that kickstarted the mass uprooting.

One 18-year-old with thick curls was extremely distressed as he spoke of his father, his brother and his two uncles’ disappearance.

“They had rifles, and they decided to fight the IS so long as they had ammunition, knowing they would lose, but hoping that it could buy others time to help them escape,” said Sibashe Khodr.

“I tried to reach them by phone. Someone answered and said they were in IS hands. Now, their phones still ring, but no one answers,” Khodr said.

Tens of thousands of Yazidis have managed to reach the relative safety of Kurdish-controlled territory in northern Iraq, but the IS onslaught and their dramatic displacement has been a major blow.

“They kidnapped the women, including two of my nieces. They did everything they could to put an end to our community in Iraq,” said Khodaida Bakr, 35.

“They say we are heretics. But look at how they act. They are the real heretics.”

“It is not merely the bitter, icy cold that haunts Morris Rosen’s memory, nor the visions of those who lagged behind, unable to keep up.

    It is the smiles.

The smiles of those who watched and did nothing to help as Morris and hundreds of other prisoners who were weak, sick and dying struggled to endure a death march in February 1945.”

    IslamoNazism Did Hitler copy Islam?

Islam is the “Big Lie” excuse.

Defense of the alleged (Humiliation of Muslims) is the excuse for shameless supremacist vanity.
__ The irony — Because of this mindset Islam’s Muslims have much to be ashamed about.

Islamic ‘Purity’ is the excuse to label others as subhuman.
__ The irony — Muslims act like savage beasts.

Yes, Jay Boo—Hitler *did* copy Islam.

he quite consciously based the Holocaust on the model of the Armenian Genocide. This, from a document dated August of 1939, right before he invaded Poland:

“Accordingly, I have placed my death-head formations in readiness — for the present only in the East — with orders to them to send to death mercilessly and without compassion, men, women, and children of Polish derivation and language. Only thus shall we gain the living space (Lebensraum) which we need. Who, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?”

That last line says it all. He also used many of their methods.

Every muslim in europe and elsewhere is a terrorist sleeper cell. If they”ll get the chance to kill infidels and get away with it, they’ll do it without blinking an eye. Such is Islam.

  4. Jaladhi says

Jihadi or non-jihadi Muslims they all get together when its a matter of exterminating non-Muslims!! But all Muslims are jihadis, there is no non-jihadi Muslim, jihad being at the core of Islam. When its a matter of killing non-Muslims, all Muslims unite , sunnis, shias, sufis, ahmedias and every other stripe of Muslims.

Not surprised to hear that sunnis joined the jihadis t o kill Yazdis!! We have seen it other parts of the world – India, Bosnia, Sudan, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and other countries where Muslims live.

Obama and the MSM will try to tell us that this is all the fault of the non-Sunni leadership in Bagdad but Islam is based on filth; Islam is based on Muhammad.

    • Jaladhi says

Exactly right! These people white wash to erase the blood bath of Muslims with non-Muslim blood. That is what the “progressive” liberals media does!!

Muslims killing their non-Muslims neighbors with whom they lived for centuries is repeated again and again in several countries.

Very true, Jaladhi—we’ve seen this just recently in Nigeria, in China, in Pakistan, in Egypt, in Iraq, in Sudan, and in Syria. Just horrifying—but perfectly Islamic.

It is also just what happened during the Armenian Genocide.

Every mosque should force its membership to view the video clip that was posted on this website “We are being butchered under the banner of there is no god but Allah” but they won’t because in spite of the talk of this has nothing to do with Islam every Muslim on the face of the planet knows full well that this has everything to do with Islam.

There is no depravity too low that Muslims won’t sink to when it has a possibility of promoting an Islamic caliphate because vanity is at the root of this satanic verse based religion.
Islamic caliphate is the Pavlov’s bell that makes every Muslim salivate and froth at the mouth like a dog with rabies.

Islam is not a democracy where the ‘peaceful majority’ get to determine what happens. Let me know what the ayatollahs, mullahs, sheikhs, muftis, and imams (oh my) think and I’ll let you know what is going on in Islam. Peaceful, or bad, Muslims have learned to stay away from mosques, keep their mouths shut, and generally have no influence in the religion.

  8. pongidae rex says

Muslims all over the world say this is non-Islamic, yet share happily in the territorial and material spoils of conquest once the bloody work is done. One thing is for certain, people who survive being displaced by Islam have no ‘right of return’. A more base hypocrisy of the human mind has never existed. That Western leaders join in this transparent charade is sickening.

    • Beagle says

Good points. If the “right of return” is to mean anything, it’s time to discuss the Islamic expansion out of Arabia. Not to mention the Jews of Arabia, a term you don’t hear much these days.

  9. Myxlplik says

This is what our immigration policy in regards to Muslims has in store for for our future generations. It’s just sickening, because we have a duty (like Gert Wilders said) to pass on the same birthright of freedom we had passed onto us.

This should not surprise—Muslims there have done just the same thing to their Christian neighbors:

Yes—and this is nothing new. A Hadith accounts how a new Muslim convert suddenly turned on his Jewish employer and murdered him. When the killer’s brother chides him, and says that the employer had always been kind to him and had treated him like a son, the murderer notes that he killed the man because he wasn’t Muslim—and that he would do the same to his own brother without compunction. Instead of being horrified, the brother is so impressed with this callous savagery that he himself converts to islam on the spot. How “edifying”…*Ugh*.

Not only does this further illustrate this savage mind-set, but it also likely shows the position of any possible few who objected to this barbarism—being ignored and silenced.

I believe many in the West see ISIS as *occupying* parts of Syria and Iraq—but this shows that in many cases these bloody barbarians have been *welcomed* with open arms by the “ordinary” local Sunni Muslims.

And never mind that so many in ISIS are foreigners—it’s not as though many of these local Muslims have any loyalty to Iraq, either.

This is also mainstream Islam—these kidnapped Infidel women are now sex slaves—who can be raped with impunity or forcibly “married” to Jihadists. Any children they conceive will—by Islamic law—be raised as Muslims.

This is out and out genocide.

    God, I hate Islam.

Amazing the horrible things you find in ahadith collections. Go for the personal grooming ‘tips,’ and stay for the religiously-sanctioned murders. I spent one long night in around 2002-3 reading the MSA-USC collection, my first prolonged run in with the “sayings of Muhammad”. I started with jihad of course. But then when I was finished with that I moved on and kept reading, amazed to discover that jihad is not even the worst of it in some cases.

      • gravenimage says

Semeru is full of crap. This was a thread on a story about honor killings—where it was asserted, quite factually, that Muslims are responsible for most of the world’s “honor” murders (over 90% of them, in fact).

Semeru, of course, pointed out one ugly case where Yazidis had followed the lead of their vicious Muslim neighbors and had perpetrated an honor killing themselves.

He then claimed that I must believe that Yazidis are actually Muslim, because they committed an honor killing themselves.

So—he was hoping first to draw attention away from the barbarism of Muslim honor killings, and now to try to discredit me—and, by extension, any criticism of Yazidi genocide—by implying that commenters on Jihad Watch are ignorant about the identity of the Yazidi.

        What a grotesque—and ham-fisted—apologia for evil. *Ugh*.

  11. sdnikko says

This is exactly what happened as the Nazis rose to power. People who once pretended to be your friendly neighbors suddenly allowed to unleash their underlying hatred with no negative consequences. This effect is only multiplied when someone is raised to feel that the “other” is hated by God as well. At it’s worst you see people with criminal sociopathic tendencies now finding a home.

  12. R. Craigen says

Is this not motivated/justified for muslims by a hadith in which a fellow kills his own brother after converting to Islam, to show his loyalty?
