The Islamic State will not succeed in advancing this far, of course. But they will murder many people as they try.
“The Structure of the Islamic State (ISIS),” by Col. (ret.) Dr. Jacques Neriah, Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, September 8, 2014 (thanks to Victor):
Much has been written and said about the Islamic State in Iraq and Sham (the Levant) — ISIS. Most of the commentators have looked at ISIS as another terrorist organization, an al-Qaeda off-shoot, waging a guerrilla war with cohorts of unorganized thugs. The Afghani-style gear, the pickup trucks, the all black or army fatigue uniforms which most ISIS fighters wear, the unshaven beards, the turbans, hoods and head “bandanas” with Arabic inscriptions have added to the confusion.
In fact, ISIS is much more than a terrorist organization; it is a terrorist state with almost all governing elements. Over the last three years, since the beginning of the civil war in Syria, the Islamic State developed from an extremist fringe and marginal faction participating in the civil war to become the strongest, most ferocious, best funded and best armed militia in the religious and ethnic war that is waged today in Syria and Iraq.
But first, what is the name of this entity and what are the borders of the Islamic State? From the first days of its appearance in Syria in 2011, the organization was known as ISIS. However, since the declaration in Summer 2014 of the establishment of an Islamic Caliphate headed by Ibrahim ‘Awad Ibrahim Al Badri al Samarra’i, alias Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi — now the self-declared “Caliph Ibrahim” — ISIS has been transformed into the “Islamic State” (Al Dawla Al Islamiya ) in order to stress the fact that the Caliphate is not to be limited to Iraq, Syria, Israel (Palestine), Jordan and the Levant, but its ambitions lie well beyond those limited borders.
According to the maps published by the Islamic State, the Islamic State will include Andalus in the West (Spain) and stretch from North Africa — the Maghreb — (and the whole of West Africa including Nigeria) through Libya and Egypt (considered one geographical unit – Ard Al-Kinana), include what is called in Islamic state terminology, Ard el Habasha (from Cameroon in the west, Central Africa, the Victoria lake states, Ethiopia and Somalia), the Hijaz (Saudi Arabia, the Gulf States), Yemen until Khurasan in the east – defined as the Central Asian Muslim Republics beginning with Azerbaijan and including Pakistan and the South west part of China, land of the Muslims of Turkish origin, the Uyghurs. The Islamic State includes also Iran and Turkey (named Anadol) in their entirety and parts of Europe (mainly the Balkans, more or less conforming to the borders of the defunct Ottoman Empire with the Austro-Hungarian territories)….

Islamic 5-year plan

China huh? Let them try!

All pretty simple to bring them down. Switch off the internet and telephone coverage in the controlled area. Destroy the power and water supplies. Bomb every tanker that moves toward Turkey. Freeze all the bank accounts. Reissue all Iraqi banknotes and coinage making their haul from Mosul useless and starve them out. Pretty simple with no need to bomb?
If these morons are deprived of their audience like all bullies and fools they will fade away

And while you are doing all those things they will still be able to murder thousands upon thousands of people

That is, assuming the US (more accurately, the powers that be in the country) actually wants to wipe out IS. I expect Obama is trying to work out how to bomb Assad’s forces in the mayhem and help the Islamic State flourish while not actually appearing to support them.
Too bad they showed their hand too soon and too publicly with their pesky beheading telecasts, Obama has his work cut out for him now.
If tomorrow, IS were to reach Israel’s borders and if Israel were to start getting the upper hand in the ensuing battle, wouldn’t surprise me to hear accusations of disproportionate response.

They’ve got their foot in Syraq, Af-Pak, the Sahel, Libya, Sinai, NE Nigeria, Somalia, and Yemen. They’ve got a tentative presence throughout. They just need to add another 995 years to their projections, that’s all.

Good point, John …and this map appears daunting; like looking at the spread of death and destruction or even cancer: the black plague of evil islam.

Actually I think you guys are underestimating what may very well happen.
So far nothing substantial has happened to isis since the start of their campaign, western leaders still can’t avoid the politically correct garbage, and where the hell were the NATO air forces and why are they not pounding the stuffing out of anything that moves on the ground.
We can’t point out the true evil so we just dance around it.
I think in 5 years we will all be a little shocked.
Let’s all enjoy our first world problems while we can, something far worse is on the horizon unless we can come to grips with the fast approaching reality.
David E. Gilchrist says
If our Western leaders are afraid of blowback, all the better to hammer the host of hell led by Abbadon out of those ISIS demons in human flesh.
You cant reason with demons, you just have to cast them out. You cant have a peace deal..
Islamist extremists have to be crushed. And no other way around it but to send in the heavy artillery.
Robert C Thompson says
You are so right Highlander. I shudder every time I think of it.
The West needs to wake up and smell the coffee, with alacrity, before they start beheading people in the streets of Europe.
And you know where they’ll be headed next.

Yes, the slim (and soft) majority of the informal Jihad Watch community tend to underestimate, in many ways, the gravity of the problem, not only of ISIS, but of Mohammedans in general.

…………………………………….
No, they won’t. But then, there never was a “Thousand Year Reich”, either—yet the Nazis caused the deaths of millions and the suffering of even more.
And we would do well to recall the horrific inroads Islam made into Dar-al-Harb in its first years, as it tore across the Levant, the Mahgreb, Spain, Mesopotamia, Persia, and to the gates of India, Byzantium, and Western Europe right after the death of the “Prophet”.
And clearly, they want to regain all the lands they conquered and the people they oppressed for centuries in Spain, in Portugal, in Sicily, in Greece, in Israel, and in the Balkans.
And why? Because any land once taken by the Muslim hordes is considered to be Muslim forever.
Jay Boo says

So have the Spaniards, no longer bullish, but cowed (remember their shameful capitulation to Islamophiliac Leftism after Muslims mass-murdered Spanish citizens in Madrid ten years ago).

Uncle Kepha has his own plan:
From Morocco to central Algeria will be Mauretania; eastern Algeria to Tunisia will be Africa; Western Libya will be Tripolitania; eastern Libya Cyrene; Misr will be Aegyptos; the southern Levant ‘Eretz Yisroel; Lebanon and Syria west of the Euphrates will be called Syria (including the Hatay: Antioch as capital); northern Iraq to be divided between Assyria and Kurdistan; Anatolia to Erzincan will be Anatolia with its capital at Hagios Theologos (Turkish: Ayasoluk); east of Erzincan to Nagorno Karabakh, Armenia; as for Africa south of the Sahara, I’m sure the various Christianized peoples there will be able to sort a few things out for themselves…
And maybe a China liberated from the Communists will be able to claim the birthplace of its great poet Li Tai Bai somewhere in the vicinity of Almaty….

I don’t think ISIS really intends to invade Europe by themselves as some sort of grand Islamic Jihadist army. They are letting massive Muslim migration and the resulting demographic changes do their work for them. On the map above they include Austria and Slovakia in Central Europe as part of their goal before they take over the rest of Western Europe. Whole sections Vienna, Austria now has Muslim majorities and the same applies to Linz and Salzburg. Demographics are on their side. I suppose ISIS included Austria and Slovakia in their Caliphate because the Ottoman Turks briefly occupied the outskirts of Vienna in the 1600s and intruded into Slovakia during the same time period. If Muslims weren’t invading Europe through migration I would think this was all a crazy pipe dream. They are deadly serious and I think they might succeed by 2040. God help Europe if this happens.

“I don’t think ISIS really intends to invade Europe by themselves as some sort of grand Islamic Jihadist army. They are letting massive Muslim migration and the resulting demographic changes do their work for them.”
True, but you are strangely ignoring the tandem parallel tactic of the Stealth Jihad — Violent Jihad (through terror attacks, along with criminal violence & civil unrest). Muslims are banking on a combination of the two working over time to weaken the West sufficiently to be able to be taken over. For this to work, Muslims need millions of Muslims inside the West, being trusted by the Kuffar to be harmless. And this is exactly the situation Muslims enjoy now, and for the foreseeable future.
For all that, however, I don’t think Muslims will succeed — but, as Spencer says, they will be able to wreak mayhem and mass-murder merely in trying — but failing — to succeed.
Tom Davis says
Ha! Either these guys are not serious or else they forgot their history. The Golden Horde in Russia and Ukraine is outside of their black empire. That should be included! And if they include Vienna (presumably on the basis of the Turkish army that gave siege to the city) should they not include Sicily, southern France and eastern Poland? Heck, go for broke and add every spot that jihadist sandals touched: lots of coastal enclaves in Italy, France, England, and even Iceland!
Amateurs!
voegelinian says
There is an Islamologic to the ISIS bucket list: first, they need to “purify” the Dar-al-Islam (which includes lands whose “impurity” is either that they have lost their Islamic control altogether — e.g., Spain — or lands whose Islamic governance is not sufficiently Islamic); then they can proceed with the global expansion mandated by the blueprint of the Islamic desideratum of Mohammed. (This doesn’t mean they won’t try to attack the West in various terror attacks in the meanwhile as part of a tandem operation of fending off their “enemies”.)

@Mazo
And how “aggressive” is Christian proselytizing in China? Mostly by word of mouth and examples of believers. Zhao Xiao, an economist sent by the PRC government to study the economics of the USA, became a Christian because of his researches into Western economic history. Add to this, immigrants from Mainland China to the USA have proven surprisingly open to Christian witness. Maybe some of these Christianized scientists and businessmen in the USA have an impact on kin back home, too. Many Chinese Christians I have met both inside and outside of China also strike me as patriotic about their homeland, even if sometimes critical of their government.
And, could there be something about the bankruptcy of Marxism-Leninism that abets such a movement? Let’s not forget that it wasn’t too long ago that Marxism-Leninism’s scientific pretensions led it to unleash much violence wherever it went and against anyone who got in the way or whom it thought insufficiently “progressive”.
BTW, I make no apologies for Christian proselytizing or for having done it myself. Jesus commanded that we make disciples of all nations right after he rose from the dead. I’ll also add that the way Scripture commands us to do it (regardless of what some have done in the past or may be tempted to do now) is by prayer, preaching, teaching, and ethical example.
BTW, the more I study history, the more I’m convinced that everything great and good in the West has been a gift of God’s grace.
