There are reports that gunmen remain on the roof of the Parliament building and are taking shots at press and emergency services on the street.

Hence why people are being urged further and further back.

Gunman shot dead inside Parliament

CBC is reporting that a gunman has been shot dead inside the Parliament building.

Earlier, a construction worker on the scene told how he heard a gunshot, and then saw a man dressed in black with a scarf over his face running towards parliament with a gun.

The man stopped a black car at gunpoint and hijacked it, construction worker Scott Walsh said.

The driver got out safely, then the man drove the car to the Centre Block on Parliament Hill, where construction work is underway.

The gunman rushed past a woman with a child in a stroller, who ran away screaming. He did not attack the woman or child, Walsh said.

‘They’re targeting first responders’

Political columnist John Ivison is another journalist on the scene.

He says police told him the scene was not secure because of “multiple” armed assailants.

“Move back, they’re targeting first responders,” a policeman said.

The man was described as a white male with long, black hair.

He was said to be wearing a black and white headscarf around his head….
