Anyway, the UK, like other Western countries, continues to make no attempt to discover why so many young Muslims find the Islamic State appealing. They have no idea what a caliphate is or why it is significant. They just wave it away as un-Islamic, and that’s that. Meanwhile, however, the appeal remains.

A teenager has been charged with preparing to commit acts of terrorism.
Kazi Jawad Islam, 18, was arrested by the Metropolitan Police on Wednesday, August 13.
Scotland Yard said he has been charged with preparing to commit acts of terrorism, contrary to Section 5 of the Terrorism Act.
Islam, of Manor Park, east London, has been remanded in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
The charge comes a few months after the national terror threat level in the UK was raised from substantial to severe, meaning a terrorist attack is “highly likely”. This assessment is separate from the evaluation concerning police officers….
