UPDATE: Victory!
—–
Mason High School is in Mason, Ohio. Several parents have passed on to me the notice below, which they received from the school. Note that the Muslim Student Association is involved — a group with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. When is A Cross-Wearer’s Challenge day at Mason High? When is A Yarmulke Wearer’s Challenge day at Mason High? Or is it only Islam that gets this treatment?
Also, I am looking forward to Mason High’s Uncovered Girl Challenge, in honor of Aqsa Parvez, whose Muslim father choked her to death with her hijab after she refused to wear it; and of Amina Muse Ali, a Christian woman in Somalia whom Muslims murdered because she wasn’t wearing a hijab; and of the 40 women who were murdered in Iraq in 2007 for not wearing the hijab; and of Alya Al-Safar, whose Muslim cousin threatened to kill her and harm her family because she stopped wearing the hijab in Britain; and of Amira Osman Hamid, who faces whipping in Sudan for refusing to wear the hijab; and of the Egyptian girl, also named Amira, who committed suicide after being brutalized for her family for refusing to wear the hijab; and of the Muslim and non-Muslim teachers at the Islamic College of South Australia who were told that they had to wear the hijab or be fired; and of the women in Chechnya whom police shot with paintballs because they weren’t wearing hijab; and of the women also in Chechnya who were threatened by men with automatic rifles for not wearing hijab; and of the elementary school teachers in Tunisia who were threatened with death for not wearing hijab; and of the Syrian schoolgirls who were forbidden to go to school unless they wore hijab; and of the women in Gaza whom Hamas has forced to wear hijab; and of the women in Iran who protested against the regime by daring to take off their legally-required hijab; and of the women in London whom Muslim thugs threatened to murder if they didn’t wear hijab; and of the anonymous young Muslim woman who doffed her hijab outside her home and started living a double life in fear of her parents, and all the other women and girls who have been killed or threatened, or who live in fear for daring not to wear the hijab.
When is their day? When will anyone stand in solidarity with them? Women who don’t wear hijab in Muslim countries are far more likely to be victims of violence than hijabis in the West. Who speaks for them?
Please contact Mason High School Principal Mindy McCarty-Stewart at mccartym@mason.k12.oh.us or (513) 398-5025 and politely and courteously ask her why Islam is being accorded this special treatment, what observances she has planned to honor Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism and Buddhism, and how she plans to alert students to the all-too-common oppression of women who don’t wear headscarves in Muslim countries. Remember that over at Hamas-linked CAIR they will be licking their chops and ready to pounce on any indication that McCarty-Stewart has been getting “hate messages” or “threats.” Do not give them ammunition in their jihad against freedom: be calm, respectful and reasonable in all communications, limiting discussion to asking why Islam is getting this preferential treatment in a public school.
Mason High School is blessed to have a unique and diverse student body. In order celebrate this diversity and promote open mindedness, the Muslim Student Association is inviting all female students to participate in “A Covered Girl Challenge” which will allow students to wear a headscarf for the whole school day. Afterwards, there will be a discussion (open for all students, male & female) held in Z223 to share experiences and reflections.
In order to participate, students and/or parents should attend the informational meeting offered and turn in the attached permission slip to Student Activities or Mrs. Jenkin’s room in Z223.
On the morning of April 23rd, there will be booths set up in A2, C1, and Z1 to help participators adjust their scarves and answer any questions.
To learn more about what the Covered Girl Challenge is all about and what a headscarf is watch this video: https://youtu.be/_WosD_GTz_E

When will the system be equal to all religions n not only glorify religions.. Protest instead for the people killed for not wearing the scarf… where is the wear the cross day?? in the age when muslims r killing Christians i find this very offensive and i bet those students who don’t wanna participate will be called islamophobes
Charli Main says
In Britain, wearing a cross necklace could well cost you your job. There have been many cases where Christian folk have been told to wear their cross under their tops so as to not offend non Christians.
I wear a large cross that’s in full view to others, when I´m out and about and if that offends them, they can go xxxx themselves.
epistemology says
I know the case of a woman working for BA, she only wore a small cross, but she got sacked for that. Could be offending muzzies.
MargeInOz says
Jesus didn’t die for them too, did He? Strange you are happy to wear a huge cross but fail to share the love of Christ for them!
Charli Main says
Because I´m human not divine. Only morons “love” people whose only objective it to murder, rape behead and crucify them.
Jesus said” love your neighbours “. Muslims are not my neighbours They are the enemy that have being destroying for the last 1400 years, everything I believe in.
brenda southerland says
Have this school lost its min. We are fighting these people all over the world and our schools are promoting it. Let them put the cross of Jesus up oh yeah they want do that what is it all of a sudden doo they want to promote a religion that stands against every traditional holiday and ways we have. I would never allow my child or grandchildren to go to something like that.
Linde Barrera says
Is the school superintendent a political appointee with a background in public relations or marketing and not education? What lame brain would ok this? Parents have the right to opt out, and they should. (Of course any Muslim girl who must wear the head covering should do so without interference.) It sounds like this is a contest for ” best ethnic costume” when the Islamic head covering is religious, not regional. How utterly stupid. I would criticize the superintendent, principal and anyone else involved in this ridiculous idea.
A.L. says
This whole thing is optional. People would have to “opt-in” not “opt-out”.
brends southerland says
it is going on because people allow it. All the parents should get together and keep the kids home have a Christian challenge day and requ
e all the muslim students to carry a christian cross let us see how well it goes over.

Don McKellar says
What in the hell is wrong with these schools? Why do they keep doing these things? Are they so completely clueless as to the implications? All the women of America who fought so hard for equal rights and freedom and here these people are, trying to get the kids to embrace and empathize with an evil death cult unchanged from the Dark Ages, that takes the rights of women away and treats them as second class humans? Just like they do anybody who is not a member of the cult. All of it clearly mandated in the Koran and the hadiths. Are these “teachers” proud of themselves for being all politically correct? They are teaching the children that women should be subjugated. In a public school in the 21st Century! Insanity.
Beagle says
Muslim Brotherhood front groups are very influential in this country.
Keith says
Muslim brotherhood front groups are very influential in ALL western countries. That is why we are getting dragged down into the same s**t holes that the Muslims come from.
Wellington says
You ask, Don, what the hell is wrong with these schools? It’s a valid question to be sure and my answer to it, after spending a third of a century in education, could be summed up in one word: “Everything.”
From the mediocrity of most teachers, to the abysmal textbooks that are being used, to a bloated administrative situation, to excessive concerns about being sued, to the implementation of those twin idiocies, political correctness and multiculturalism, to teacher unions which are far more concerned about benefits than education, to a dumbed-down curriculum which destroyed a far better one, to an emphasis on self-esteem and not self-respect——-and on and on and on along these lines this is what plagues American education today, from kindergarten to graduate school. Just about the greatest public educational system in the world back around 1950 has been made into a parody of itself. Schools no longer are about education but rather indoctrination and lots of other stupid stuff.
Tragic. But oh so real.
Western Canadian says
And not restricted to just the U.S…..
ermin says
Our own greed & short sightedness created that mess when we allied ourselves with the insane idealogy & it’s regimes in the middle East Saudi Arabia, Qatar, emirates, Jordan, Kuwait,Egypt, Pakistan, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya etc we have supported many if not all of those countries with technology weapons expertise , we didn’t care what they did or how they did govern their people as long as they swore their alliance to us so we made sure to support their cruelty & their use for islam to keep themselves in power & ruin peoples lives , in short we fed the monster
Don McKellar says
It’s the ones profiting from the feeding of the monsters of Islam who are enabling them further and corrupting government to do so.
1) The US Military Industrial Complex makes billions of dollars from high tech arms sales to the monsters and billions more from taxpayer funded arming and protecting of the monsters.
2) US Big Oil makes billions from contracts working with the monsters and their money buys big influence.
Until America has leadership which is not corrupted by these interests, the advance of the Islamic supremacists will continue and never will government officials in any position of power speak honestly about Islam and the agendas of the Islamic monsters.
And that’s just the way it is.
ermin says
Totally agree , let’s not forget those morons (not rich ) who support those rich by being their tool
Michael Copeland says
Girls, make it “Hug a dog in your hijab Day”: post a picture on social media.
Keith says
Good idea why don’t they hug a dog and hold hands with a boy. That would really piss off the Islamists.
cs says
Dear madam, it is with absolute dismay that I just read the awful news, that your school is pushing Islam into the your young ladies students.
Let me remind you how Islam see what women are for, that is clear stated in Surah 4 verse 34.
“Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband’s] absence what Allah would have them guard. But those [wives] from whom you fear arrogance – [first] advise them; [then if they persist], forsake them in bed; and [finally], strike them. But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand.”
Sorry madam, but those concepts are completely at odds with values of equality that this country holds. The situation of women in all Islamic countries is appalling to say the least, why try to reinforce those medieval code upon your pupils?
The other point is, why Islam? Is it a multicultural society? So why not the other religions? Are the Muslim students interested in wearing Kippa to honor the Jews? Or wearing crucifix in solidarity with the Christians that have been massacred in the Middle East and in Pakistan? Or the ex-Muslims who are in jailed because they choose Christianity?
I hope you have understood my point and will reconsider your decision.
Best Regards

1 Timothy 2:9-15
9 In like manner, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefastness and sobriety; not with braided hair, and gold or pearls or costly raiment;
10 but (which becometh women professing godliness) through good works.
11 Let a woman learn in quietness with all subjection.
12 But I permit not a woman to teach, nor to have dominion over a man, but to be in quietness.
13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve;
14 and Adam was not beguiled, but the woman being beguiled hath fallen into transgression:
15 but she shall be saved through her child-bearing, if they continue in faith and love and sanctification with sobriety.
Hmm…isn’t that interesting.
Linde Barrera says
To Mj- Thank you for quoting 1 Timothy 2. I accept all the passages of the Old and New Testament, even though “modest dress” in today’s world may not be and look exactly as described in the Bible. But you forgot to mention 1 important inference regarding Eve succumbing to the serpent in the Garden of Eden: that serpent was Satan in disguise. So it took a supernatural creature to deceive Eve!

If there are challenges for a covered girl than it is self inflicted by Muslims!! Why the non-Muslims have to have that experience. These moronic school officials will do anything to show it to Muslims our inclusiveness – do Muslims care?? They want to stay away as far as possible from us. If they can have it they will want a new country cut out for them!
Jay Airahs says
The hijab is perfectly ok — apart from Islam.
Loretta Pienaar says
Correct me if I am wrong… the last I knew was that the USA is a huge country made up of mainly indigenous (NO! the are NOT Islamists) people, Catholics and other Christians, Jews… so, pardon the French… who the hell wants to wear a desert outfit????
Jay Airahs says
School administrators will soon patronizingly teach all of their Muslim students that their Islam is actually a happy wholesome smiley face religion just as the school administrators imagine and desperately wish it to be, lest Muslim students be tempted learn otherwise from actual Muslims.
pongidae rex says
How about a Nazi armband day? Islamic dress codes in the 21st Century say exactly the same thing as Nazi armbands said about their wearers in the 1930s. Exactly the same.
epistemology says
That’s what I’ve been thinking as well. The swastika armbands are only a piece of tissue same as the hijab. And they’re a symbol of political supremacy, the wearer is something better.
Wellington says
Agreed, epistemology. When I see a woman in a burqa or wearing an hijab or some Muzzie guy wearing a skull cap, I see the equivalent of someone wearing a swastika. Islam is spiritual Nazism (no wonder Adolf said positive things about it) and the sooner the world realizes this the better. Hasn’t yet. Better do so soon. Hope you are doing well, my friend, in this goofy world we live in.
God, what a pain in the ass Islam is, no? It’s the turd in the religious punch bowl. No doubt at all about this in my mind.

Pigs are treated worse than muslims in this country…maligned all of the time as *dirty*…and seen as ham and bacon and pork chops and roasts…and yet, doctors have found they have some internal systems much like humans. And some have even saved their owners from fatal accidents, illness and fires.
Why not show sympathy for pigs and wear a pig nose for a day?
Speaking of pigs….just love that ad where the guy chases the pig all over town in order to *feed the pig* some money.
This *wear the slave woman’s head-covering, and get it fixed just right in school day* is all a part of the beast getting more and more people…esp the young…to bow down to it and worship satan. No good will come of it.
mariam rove says
You are correct about pigs and human body. My son, when he was in the Marines had extensive training on pigs because of their similarity to human. They would actually injure a pig and my son and who ever else was there they would train to keep the pig alive for up 8/9 hours in case help was not around. Therefore to give Muslims a pig’s nose is an insult to the pigs!!!!!!!!!! M
somehistory says
That’s very interesting about your son and his training, Mr. Rove.
I recall some years ago when the medical community began looking for ways to keep people alive who had severe trauma or disease in vital organs, they were studying the anatomy of pigs and finding just how close these systems are to us.
I also agree with your final sentence. Which to brings to mind that old song with the words, “Or would you rather be a pig?”
St. Michael Defend Us says
In class, I remember having a blind awareness session or day, in which we were to wear blindfolds to experience being blind for increased understanding. Another time it was earplugs for deafness.
So, what are they saying? Really, then they are admitting that wearing the hijab is a handicap and a burden, self imposed or imposed by their parents. They should have a “discard the hijab” day so the girls can find out what it is like NOT to HAVE to wear one.
mortimer says
Misogyny is the issue in the Islamic veil. A veil-wearer is declaring she is a Muslimah submitted to a Muslim and that as his personal property, no man may touch her. However, Koran 33.59 declares that the unveiled woman may be raped because she is not ‘identified’ as ‘protected’ and it may be assumed she is ‘impure’, a slave or a dirty kafir.
There is no punishment for raping a dirty kafir woman. Not even ‘sorry’.
It is a crying shame that Westerners do not realize the Islamic veil is a threat to non-Muslim women…then they would ALL want to ban it.
Carlos Danger says
Can guys wear that hijab on the 23rd too? Or is it girls only?
Briars says
Yes they can if it is a disguise protecting them from detection in the implementation of a violent act against non believers or those considered apostates of islam.

Islam_Is_Islam says
Dear Madam Principal,
I write to you in hopes that you will reconsider Mason High’s decision to host “A Covered Girl Challenge”.
The most obvious reason to cancel this Muslim Student Association (MSA)-sponsored event is that it should not be held in a public school since Islam contains a component of religion that is expressed by female head covering. Of course individual students are supported by the first amendment to wear the hijab. Please note that this constitutionally protected right of freedom of religion and expression is not why I have written to you; however, because of the religious component of Islam, the “separation of church (mosque) and state” should give you pause for thought in allowing the planned school-supported event to go forward.
The less obvious but vastly more significant reason to cancel this event is that the submission demanded by political Islam for both believers and non-believers is overtly symbolized by the wearing of the hijab. It is a fact that Islamic (shari’a) law and our constitutional republic cannot coexist. This fact of incompatibility has most recently been reflected by the results of polls conducted in both Muslim and non-Muslim populations in the UK, Australia, and the US. Truly one need only look through daily current events to see the tragic and deadly consequences of this morbid incompatibility–an incompatibility that your “Covered Girl Challenge” would potentially cover up. Disclosing the real oppression of shari’a will likely be discarded for addressing the vague discomfort expressed by the women in the explanatory youtube that is suggested for viewing by the event’s sponsor: https://youtu.be/_WosD_GTz_E.
My concern is that the danger of political Islam is hidden from students and parents by events like the one that you have scheduled for April 23rd. Please cancel it and substitute a showing of Dr. Bill Warner’s Why We are Afraid, a 1400 Year Secret (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_Qpy0mXg8Y).
Sincerely,
MasonMom says
My kids attend Mason schools, with my oldest son currently attending Mason High School. I received the email from Ms. McCarty-Stewart. We have never been asked about any other religion. We do have cultural days, which I am fine with. However, this is specific to religion, and one that treats women horribly. There will not be a Jewish day, a Christian day, because we do not mind offending those religions (I am a Christian). But if we even breathe a word against Islam then a huge uproar happens. Mason is a wonderful district, despite our superintendent. But this just smacks of stupidity. I will send the principal an email for sure.

The whole Koran is a BS story. well except for the part about Mo consummating with a 9 year old. That part is probably very true and no amount of discussion about maturity and different times will change that. Remember, he took her at 6!!!! yes 6!!!! and consummated at 9!!!! In no place on the planet at any time in history would this be considered ok by any civilized country. 9!!! Remember that!! 9!!! Think about the most grown up 9 year old you know and then think… 9!!!! He was a Pedophile and nothing more. well, except maybe a militant hater of Jews. that too…
voegelinian says
Actually, the part about Muhammad taking his child bride Aisha at age six and having sex with her at age 9 (wow, he was respectful enough to wait three years…) is in the hadiths.
The hadiths collected by the most authoritative hadith-collector in Islamic tradition, Bukhari:
Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 64. See the following for the full skinny:
http://quotingislam.blogspot.com/2011/06/canonical-hadiths-say-muhammad-in-his.html
And remember, Muslims do not merely follow the Koran — they also follow the hadiths. Collectively, what Muslims follow is the Sunna — which includes Koran, hadiths (the sayings of Muhammad), sira (stories about Muhammad and his “Companions”, the early Caliphs), tafsirs (exegeses on Koran and hadiths), and fiqh (legal study & rulings based upon all of the aforementioned).
See my essay:
The Koran is important — but don’t forget the Hadiths
http://1389blog.com/2012/07/24/the-korans-important-but-dont-forget-the-hadiths/
This is not only important not only generally speaking, but in the spirit of the battle space in the war of ideas theater concerning “Know-Thine-Enemy” this knowledge of the extra-Koranic aspect of mainstream Islam helps us against the typical taqiyya attempts by Muslims insisting that they are “Koran only” (or slyly implying such without actually saying so).

Students are subjected to mandatory gender and racial-sensitivity, (diversity), training akin to thought reform. Faculty members and administrators are made to understand that their careers are at risk if they deviate from the accepted viewpoint….Meanwhile, professorships increasingly look like self-perpetrating sinecures and university presidents and boards, (not unlike corporate boards), look increasingly like fearful faculty puppets.” There has been a total downsizing in academic standards; to make way for unqualified liberals totally lacking in the traditional academic disciplines which they have made no secret of ultimately wanting to eradicate. “The over-riding goal: do whatever it takes to choose diverse or feminist candidates regardless of qualifications.”

Good level headed comments and facts. Of course the administration will not respond. Seems they are afraid of having their heads cut off, their wives and daughters raped and made sex slaves. After all, that is in the Muslim holy book.

I just got a response back.
Hello,
Thank you for your suggestion but this is the event we are going with. This suggestion doesn’t actually promote any kind of religious understanding or tolerance since the majority of female students actually don’t wear a hijab and only 10% of Muslim females in America wear a scarf. All we are trying to to do is to understand the minority.
Thank you,
MSA

While you try your best to say its not religious, its actually much worse. Its condition to make it a norm for the future then it will be mandatory when everyone gets use to it

Nice try, but by the logic of your own liberal, fascist agenda, this is a violation of the Separation of Church and State which you liberals are so proud of slapping people in the face with when they want to exercise their rights under the Constitution of openly and freely expressing their faith in the Judeo-Christian God.
I find it interesting that you carefully choose whom to support and whom to shun based purely on the fact that those whom you shun are the ones whose God command that they practice meekness and temperance, while those whom you embrace are the ones whose god commands that if you do not embrace them they are not only “allowed” but commanded to “subdue them until they feel themselves subdued”, meaning, cut your heads off, hang you from a bridge by your intestines, dismember you or set you on fire.
You are cowards and I wouldn’t want to live five minutes in your skin.

I cannot believe what I’m reading. As a current (white Catholic) student at this school, I love the fact that this opportunity is being presented to us! In NO WAY shape or form are they trying to preach the entire Muslism religion to us on this day and forcing us to convert. They are trying to expose us to something that we may no otherwise get to experience, and I don’t see anything wrong with this. Many students who CHOOSE to wear the hijab everyday choose to wear it because of their religious texts and beliefs, NOT because of some extremists around the world. If you believe you shouldn’t send your child to school on this day, fine. But just know they WILL have classes with women who choose the wear the hijab EVERYDAY. Why on earth protest this one day when this is an everyday thing here at Mason? Love the (lack of) logic there. This is NOT the church combining with the state, this is a STUDENT RUN ORGANIZATION. Please don’t send hate to the school, not only is it tasteless but it’s pointless. Our principal is NOT forcing all 3000 students to become Muslism and wear all the hijab. This is one religion trying to educate their community. Religion is supposed to be about accepting others, a point clearly some of you ‘Christians’ forgot. And the students who do participate are going to gain the experience of a lifetime. I am so jealous of the Muslism girls around the school that daily wear the hijab. They proudly stand for their beliefs and consciously know they look different but have the strength and confidence to continue wearing it everyday. THAT’S what the hijab is about, and that’s what these women are school are trying to share with their fellow classmates. Shame on you if you can’t accept any religion but your own. Please try to open your eyes a little, I promise the hijab won’t bite.
Russell says
That is okay because the Catholic religion is a farce also. Pagan Rome rule was switched over to Papal Rome rule and nothing really changed. G-d’s people were still persecuted any way. Until G-d’s people are no longer persecuted by Papal Rome, Moslems, Arabs, or anyone else, I will continue to hold out hope for Jesus’s return. Hopefully, you are not too indoctrinated to learn what you will need to know to stand with Jesus in Heaven. Do not bow down to political correctness and lose your place in Heaven. But it is really your choice. Enjoy.

“I am so jealous of the Muslism girls around the school that daily wear the hijab.” I presume you’re just another unskilled liar for Islamofascism. There’s no need to be jealous. Please don your niqab or hijab asap, and live like that for the rest of your life. Do it now. Remember, if you take it off you’ll be seen not only as a slut or whore, but one that male Muslims can abuse and rape at will – as taught by senior Islamic clerics when defending gang-rapists.
See for example http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/nation/muslim-leader-blames-women-for-sex-attacks/story-e6frg6nf-1111112419114 where Sheik Hilali says:
“If you take out uncovered meat and place it outside on the street, or in the garden or in the park, or in the backyard without a cover, and the cats come and eat it … whose fault is it, the cats or the uncovered meat?
“The uncovered meat is the problem.”
The sheik then said: “If she was in her room, in her home, in her hijab, no problem would have occurred.”
Do you care at all for any of the girls and women MURDERED because they didn’t cover in the Islamic way? It’s interesting that you don’t address *any* of Mr.Spencer’s concerns above. Are you a psychopath?
Do you care that girls from the age of 10 are explicitly physically threatened if they don’t wear the hijab?
See Sheikh al-Jabali instructing an audience from 12.02
“By the age of 10 it becomes an obligation on us to force her to wear hijab. And if she doesn’t wear hijab WE HIT HER”
Perhaps you might like to join the Iranian clothes police? See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuclPsnoTTc
If you care at all for humanity, speak out against clothing rules which demonize women and girls, and make them targets for abuse. If you don’t care about humanity… well, the time will come when you’ll be marginalized to the fringes of society with the other neo-Nazis, and if you try abusing girls with your hijab rules, you’ll be jailed, as in France.

Paige, my heart soared when I read your comment. I was stunned at the hate, ignorance and bigotry that I was reading here. Interesting that so many apparently informed parties are posting on this topic. Jihad Watch over the years has posted articles much like this about various schools (whether grade school, high school, or college) and other institutions; but it’s rather unusual to see so many commenters here from the very same school and/or institution in question (or personally involved and/or familiar with it).
It’s also of interest — though of course utterly unsurprising — that the commenters defending Muslims and opposing the opponents of the hijab decision use inaccurate language to describe most of us. Such as, for example, “Christie”, who wrote:
I was stunned at the hate, ignorance and bigotry that I was reading here.
I don’t see any “hate” or “bigotry” here. These terms are typically used by the PC MCs (and their more caffeinated cousins, the Leftists) in Orwellian fashion, deployed as labels intended to demonize the opponent, without any evidence to back it up. And as for our supposed “ignorance”, just look at the comments of, for example,

If I were a muzzy and if I were able, I would try to be at the school for this event and if I were to see any skin other than eyes of any female teacher or employee I would hope to badly beat them into submitting to alla as women so rightly deserve. Any body part other than eyes and eyebrows could be an open invitation for men to rape them as they would be advertising their disgusting sex and of course I would be unable to control myself. Any ambulances in attendance could be seen as an insult to alla unless they are identified with the glorious Red Crescent which mohamd invented and patented. Females dragged into those ambulances could be examined by a cair representative and have their genitals mutilated to honor mohamd.
This whole concept of grovelling to islam is bull$ht.
Citizen Ghost says
Paige,
what you are missing is…well…the entire big picture here. First, you’re right, they are not trying to preach the “entire muslim religion” with this activity. You are being lulled into practicing it bits at a time until you become used to the idea of practicing it all the time. Those of us who understand history and the tactics used by muslims for the past 1,400 years, are always called paranoid and Islamophobic and all the cute little names which the historically uneducated people on your side like to label us with, but history bears out the fact that Islam deliberately uses this tactic, among others to subdue the lands they migrate to. I won’t hit you with terms like “Taqqiya” or “Hudna”, since you have no clue what they are or what they mean. But suffice it to say, it’s intent is working well on you. It has you in it’s grip, obviously. We who are watching it happen right here in our country are begging, pleading with you to study history instead of blindly embracing their motives without any knowledge of their history and what their Qur’an commands them to do. It isn’t about what the so-called ‘extremists’ are doing on the other side of the planet. It’s about what the subtle, crafty, stealth-muslims are doing right here in our country with your help. You are falling to their carefully implemented measures, as so many in Europe, Asia and elsewhere have done for nearly a millennia and a half.
Secondly, where is the outcry from your side regarding the Separation of Church and State, as is so often cited when a Christian or Jew wants to do some activity on school campuses around this country? The hypocrisy is so thick in this whole thing, I feel like I have to take a shower to get it off of me.
Finally, I see all this well articulated support of this event which raises suspicions of an orchestrated and concerted effort to shush the opposition and promote the event. Is that paranoid, too? No. It might be, if I haven’t seen it so many times before on other issues, in the comments section of so many other articles. Especially considering that I am vastly experienced in how the liberal left operates, always hitting perfectly on the talking points, not presenting personal narrative, but an agenda-driven, rehearsed teleprompter-like speech, going from why the opposition is wrong, to how this is a harmless event, and then on to how shocking it is that anyone would oppose this “once in a lifetime opportunity” as you so strategically inserted. Really? Once in a lifetime? It’s quite so grand and wonderful, and yet no big deal all at the same time? Staged, practiced responses are easily exposed when one knows what to look for.
voegelinian says
“Especially considering that I am vastly experienced in how the liberal left operates, always hitting perfectly on the talking points…”
Yes, it’s pretty clear that a whole diverse swath of anti-Western Westerners — ranging from Communists to their less caffeinated cousins, the Leftists, and including many more naive, even more decaffeinated cousins, the PC MCs — have realized that this is a war of ideas and that several types of sophistry tactics are effective, including what Citizen Ghost is alluding to. This of course has been going on long before the Internet, in the 20th century, but has picked up pace with the Internet and its amazing opportunities of communications technology, including Facebook, Twitter, email tactics, and comments threads of various forums.
And not only has this diverse swath been deploying these various tactics, but it’s evident that Muslims have gotten in the game. It’s not clear historically how long Muslims have been savvy about tactics that seem to have been invented by Communists and Nazis. (A closely related issue is whether, or to what extent, there has been an inter-flow of ideas between this Western anti-Western swath and Muslims; one doesn’t want to exaggerate the evil of this swath, however, and impute to all of them a knowing collusion with Muslims, rather it is more reasonable to suppose that the phenomenon of “Useful Idiocy” can account for most of the confluence & consanguinity between the swath and Muslims.)
The reason I find it problematic to conjecture that Muslims were doing this long before the 20th century is that the situation between Islam and the West from the 7th century clear up to the mid-20th century was one of frank mutual hosility (with the gullibly naive Westerners in the minority and not dominating mainstream culture — the exact reverse of our situation now in the 21st century) — not to mention virtually no inter-penetration of Muslims inside the West, unlike the West in the course of the past 50 years, during which an astounding influx of millions of Muslims has occurred, totally unprecedented in all history from the beginnings of Islam in the 7th century.
Thus, given that for the first 1,300 years, Muslims were facing an enemy who for the most part was frankly suspicious if not hostile toward Muslims, and given that Muslims enjoyed no substantial presence in numbers and infiltration inside the West during those 1,300 years, it seems illogical to conclude that they developed the kinds of elaborate stealth jihad which we have good reason to know they have in fact developed in the last half century — since Muslims had no need nor opportunity for such stealth jihad prior to the 20th century; and I can’t think of any other culture or civilization other than the West prior to the 20th century on whom Muslims could have “practiced” such a strategy.
Given all this, it seems reasonable to conclude that the recent strategy of stealth jihad Muslims are in fact deploying throughout the West in so many ways — from propaganda to disinformation to deceit to infiltration as false moderates — is an innovation (Oh, the irony!) based upon a tradition of generally counseling tactics of deceit whenever expedient, but going far beyond that tradition in order to accomodate and exploit the unique circumstance the West is offering Muslims on a silver platter — inviting Muslims into the Enemy Camp (the Dar al-Harb) by the millions, bending over backwards and salaaming forwards to “respect” them, protect them, and placate their every desire and whim, even going above and beyond the call of duty by pitching in, in various ways, to actually help Muslims with their own propaganda in glorifying Islam while denigrating the West!
At this novel situation, this subtly spectacular reversal of a millennial situation, Muslims must thank Allah five times a day for such a colossally stupid Enemy!

of this event, beginning on April 20 (Hitler’s Birthday)
and culminating on April 23 (Shakespeare’s Birthday).
You probably have a pedagogical purpose in mind for
the historical and literary allusions of these dates.
But the wording of your announcement is troubling.
You invite “all female students” to take part in this
celebration, but a females-only restriction does not
sound very inclusive. Is this event also open to male
transvestite students? In addition to Lesbian students,
do you also invite Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Queer,
and all other students in the LGBTQWERTY panoply
of lifestyle choices? I sure hope so!
The more participators and participants, the better.
I hope your event will be a big success, and will
lead to more and more diverse-attire days in which
everyone wears the same clothing.

“Covered Girl Day”, isn’t that kind of sexist and demeaning to women? To force women to wear subservient clothing. The Muslim Holy Book speak of women as being less than half the value of a man. That their men are allowed to and encouraged to beat them. Yep, really a good way to build the self esteem of young women.
ninetyninepct says
Having only the young women participate in this is sexist, racist and screams discrimination. In order to make this more realistic and give a truer exposure to islam, the young men have to wear ugly black beards, dress in black and bring sticks to beat any female showing anything more than eyes and eyebrows. All the while, the young men are in the building or on the school grounds they must scream alley akbar at the top of their lungs.
The females of course have to stand back, bow their heads, and allow the males into the building first. In class the females have to stand at the back of the room, separated by a divider from the males seated in front. I also suggest that at the mid-day break the males hold an auction to buy a female or two, treating them like any other muslim possession. The males cannot be charged with assault as that would be racist.
F.L. says
I go to MHS and am really appalled by the negative attitude that is being drawn towards this event. This event is not mandatory, it is a COMPLETELY optional activity for anyone who wants to participate. It was organized to help people of other beliefs to get an insight on the Islamic religion and the truth of its teachings, if they so please, in a time where this religion is getting a bad reputation because of extremist groups like ISIS. It is also organized by a group of Muslim girls (who are my friends and happen to be some of the most respectful and kind individuals I’ve ever met) who are by no means trying to convert people to their religion. This is just a way to create interfaith understanding and respect in our community, and to help people see that Islam is not a doctrine of oppression and violence. By the way, there ARE clubs for other religions and groups (like younglife) in our community, and if one group of people doesn’t feel represented, they can easily take the initiative and start their own club. They can also organize their own event like this one.
TheBuffster says
Hi, F.L.
You said: “This is just a way to create interfaith understanding and respect in our community, and to help people see that Islam is not a doctrine of oppression and violence.”
It’s true that many Muslims are not interested in jihad and don’t even want to live under Sharia law. Many Muslims I have known have never even read the Koran, or the Hadith or Mohammad’s biography. If you go to a Muslim apostate’s website where people write about why they were Muslims and why they left the religion, you’ll find that many of them left the religion when they finally read their primary religious texts. They had gotten their previous knowledge of their religion second-hand from family and from Islam-lite imam’s who softened the religion to something palatable for people living in the modern world.
But if you read those texts, as many of the people here have done, and if you read histories of Islam, as many here have also done, you’ll see that the violent Islamic State jihadis *do* have a strong basis in the religion for their actions. And you’ll see, if you look at what’s happening in the world today, that there is good reason to be concerned about what the Muslims among us believe, what kind of Muslims they are, and what is being preached to them at Mosque.
If Muslim students are being treated with disdain, rudeness, or cruelty, then it’s appropriate for the school to inform the student body that you can’t read a mind through a hijab. Muslims vary in their level of religious observance, knowledge, and dedication to the religion. Like anyone else, Muslims can “cherry pick” what they accept out of their religion. Also, I’ve found that among apostates – including even those who have concluded that there is no god – many continue to wear hijab and to go through the religious routines until they can leave home, either because they don’t want to break their parents’ hearts, or get kicked out of the house before they’re ready to leave, or – in the less common, most extreme cases, get beaten up or killed for apostasizing and bringing shame on the family.
Islam, in its demand that believers conquer the unbelievers and bring them under Islamic rule until all the world is for Allah, is different from other religions. While Christians have, at times in history, persecuted unbelievers and heretics, there is no episode in Jesus’s example that justifies that persecution. He was truly a man of non-coercion, and anyone emulating him will refrain from initiating force against anyone. Not so Mohammad, who was – according to the Islamic literature – a warrior and a ruler who approved when his followers murdered those who mocked him.
As I said, not all Muslims want to conquer. Not all want to live under Sharia law. Not all Muslims would be considered Muslims by those of the jihadi mentality, who seek to emulate Mohammad in spreading Islam’s territory and rule by the sword. But it is a mistake to say that Islam itself is not a doctrine of oppression and violence. It is.
I’ve been studying it for years.

I am by no means an expert on the topic, but all I know is that the violence you talk about is not the interpretation of Islam that my Muslim friends live by. They preach peace and tolerance, and I don’t see how the covered girl activity is harmful. These girls wear the hijab as a personal choice, and are not forcing anyone to wear it. This activity is a way to battle the negative stereotypes hijabis face in an American high school. They just want to show people that the girls who wear it in the halls of MHS aren’t radicals or terrorists( they are high school students who are not very different to us.

I understand, as I noted in my original post, that not all Muslims abide by the worst in the stories of Mohammad’s example, nor have even read the whole Koran. But the doctrine of Islam in itself *is* a supremacist one, and it’s one that has had the upper hand in the Muslims world for most of Islam’s history. The resurgence in fundamentalist, supremacist Islam has been growing for decades, and it does pose a threat to all who do not embrace or submit to its rule in politics as well as religion. It’s a threat, also, to any Muslims who reject the political side of Islam.
That is what this website is concerned with – the jihad and those Muslims whose aim is to create a parallel system of Sharia Law in non-Muslim countries, and who hope to eventually bring all countries under the rule of political Islam, one way or another.
You said: “These girls wear the hijab as a personal choice, and are not forcing anyone to wear it.”
TheBuffster: Understood.
You said: “This activity is a way to battle the negative stereotypes hijabis face in an American high school. They just want to show people that the girls who wear it in the halls of MHS aren’t radicals or terrorists( they are high school students who are not very different to us).
TheBuffster: I do understand the need for hijabi high school girls to fight false assumptions about themselves, especially if those assumptions are leading to unjust treatment. I can see how wearing a hijab for a day – especially off-campus – might lead to a non-Muslim finding out first-hand the uncomfortable or suspicious or outright rude way some people react to a girl in hijab these days. Wearing it on-campus, I can see how it would be a symbolic act of kindness and support of Muslim students who have been mistreated through prejudice.
However, if part of the lesson is that Islam is *really* a religion of peace, and that the terrorist groups like ISIS and the many others around the world fighting jihad, are not *real* manifestations of Islam, then no matter how innocent the *intentions* of your Muslima friends are in this project, they are passing off a false image of the established doctrines of Islam.
If they are clearly stating that they, as individuals, only accept those bits of Islam that are compatible with the principles of the American Bill of Rights, that they, as individuals, would not place the political rules of Islam, the Sharia, above the principles the US Constitution recognizes as the bedrock rights of every human being, great! But they should also openly state that Islam itself in its orthodox and political form is grossly at odds with those principles. They should not whitewash what the non-Muslim world is facing from those who are fully dedicated to the aim set forth by Mohammad, that Muslims should fight the unbelievers until the whole world is under Allah’s – Islam’s – rule.
As long as the whole picture is presented to students, without misleading as to what Islam is or lulling students into believing the jihadis do not truly represent the religion, fine. The whole truth and nothing but is the way to go. But if the project “…was organized to help people of other beliefs to get an insight on the Islamic religion and the truth of its teachings…This is just a way to create interfaith understanding and respect in our community, and to help people see that Islam is not a doctrine of oppression and violence…” then it would not be going for the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Instead, it would be going for propaganda that – intentionally or not – would serve the aims of those whose goals are more sinister.
I’m sure many Muslims are indeed nice and loving and warm-hearted, and take non-Muslims as real friends. But the actual religious doctrine is not nice or cuddly or warm-hearted towards unbelievers. That’s something we need to know and face.
voegelinian says

ISIS is not the only source of the “bad reputation” of Muslims. There have been thousands of reports from all over the world for decades now (more acutely post-911) that have nothing to do with ISIS, which would give any group a “bad reputation”. Only a person who has been living in a cave and not educating him or herself on this issue of great moment in our time would blithely assume that ISIS is the only problem we face emanating out of the Muslim world.

Hello I found this site on Facebook because the school is in my area. First, as a Christian, let me say that I have many Muslim friends. They have all been some of the nicest people. They have invited me to some of their events at their mosque, I have invited them to my church events. We all praise God, just a different way. As a student, let me say that their are Christian days too. There is a bible study club, an interfaith dialogue club. This special hijab day is a new idea, and whenever new clubs form they send out emails regardless. If it were appropriate for a male to wear a hijab, I would. I’m sorry to be disrespectful, but you all sound extremely ignorant and old fashioned right now with some of the statements you are making. You people are the real problem. Not the Muslims who are trying to go about their lives in peace in the U.S. (not extremists so don’t give me that). We are a country of immigrants with different beliefs and values. We need to cooperate, not single out a group of people for something a sect of them did. My rant is over.

I am a student at MHS just like Paige, and F.L. Like Paige, a white Catholic, I am jealous of the Muslim girls who get to wear the hijab daily and am disappointed that you Christians don’t accept other religions but your own. You should open your eyes and try the Muslim religion and that’s all this “covered girl day” is for, just try it. You will see wearing the hijab is about standing up proudly for the teaching of the prophet and the Koran. I agree with F.L. that this event is not to force every student to convert to Islam. It is just to let everyone see the insights into the religion and the truth of Islam. There is no force. And these Muslim girls are some of the most wonderful and kind and loving people I have ever known. Islam is NOT a doctrine of oppression and violence. These girls wear the hijab everyday because the sharia law requires it and the fathers and husbands require their women to be covered. As I stated, as a Christian, I am jealous that I do not get to wear the hijab every day, but, like John, the Muslims are some of my best friends and when I go to mosque with them I do get to wear the hijab. I don’t know why you Christians are so worried, this day at school is just for understanding and for girls to try out the hijab and learn that Islam means to submit and it is the religion of peace. Just try it out.
TheBuffster says
David Marks, please have a look around for the long post I made in answer to F.L. in this thread.
“Trying” Islam by going to mosque with Muslim friends or wearing a hijab teaches you nothing about the religion. Read the Koran, the Bukhari Hadiths, “The Reliance of the Traveller”. Read histories. Read Islamic scholars. Read my long post to F.L.
Also, Islam mandates death for anyone who decides to leave the religion:

” and when I go to mosque with them I do get to wear the hijab”
Really, “David Marks”?
The most hilarious thing about all these musloid posters posing as Christians is that they think we’ve never seen their like before.
Sadly, they’ve become less and less of a challenge over time, as none of them are smart enough to pull it off.
Linde Barrera says
To David Marks- I have no issue with any human, as that is what I am. But did you know that in the Holy Book of the Muslims, the Quran, there are many passages that instruct Muslims to kill “infidels” which are non- Muslims. The dictionary defines “infidel” as a person who does not believe in God, an atheist. But the Islamic world has extended the meaning of “infidel”. Muslims will either deny or deflect these passages, or they are honest and say these doctrinal verses do exist. So why would anyone want to part of a religion that, according to a doctrine of their own making, instructs to murder, rape and lie (taqquiya) ??? 99.9% of all Muslims are non violent But that 0.01% take the Quran at face value. Now that I have explained this, do the research on your own. You will find I am correct. Don’t get suckered into their smooth talking propaganda. Thank you for taking my message. PS- I am a retired NYC public school teacher, and a Christian lady. I will never convert to Islam.
ninetyninepct says
Hey David – I call you out on your bull$ht. Males don’t wear a hajib. You are full of crap.
“Islam is NOT a doctrine of oppression and violence. These girls wear the hijab everyday because the sharia law requires it and the fathers and husbands require their women to be covered.” Those two lines contradict your every statement. You are muzzy hiding as a human.
Champ says
Oh please “David Marks” is a Christian and I’m the Queen of England …
Get lost liar.
Cassie Whitelaw says
Yes then the Muslim girls might like to wear a crucifix for a day.
tilda says
“…a white Catholic, I am jealous of the Muslim girls who get to wear the hijab daily and am disappointed that you Christians don’t accept other religions but your own.
1. Your color is irrelevant and does not provide you with any kind of credibility in this matter;
2. Your name is * David* and you’re jealous of muslim girls who wear hijab? Okay, whatever floats your boat;
3. “…you Christians…” Big assumption — who said everyone here is Christian?
4. As for not accepting other religions — you might like to have a look at the claims Islam makes for itself vis a vis other religions. (Although I suspect you already know.)
cayla99 says
Just wonderin’….what ever happened to separation of church and state? You know, that little thing that has banned Christians from bringing bibles to school. That has banned even mentioning the name of Jesus. Does it only apply to Christians? Funny, I read “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion…” Never saw the word Christian there….isn’t Islam a religion? What about diversity? Muslims kill Christians, Jews and the entire LGBT communities…..aren’t they offended?
BC says
What would be the response if a school asked the Muslims girls to come to school without hijab for a day?
Outrage and claims of victimisation I have no doubt. Tolerance is a one way street for Muslims

I am so proud of the students that I am seeing on these comments. Whatever your feelings about this event, the rude, obnoxious, bullying comments are entirely unnecessary. I am embarrassed that adults would say these things to teens calling them ignorant. But I am so proud of the teens for their intelligent, strong comments that did not include any bullying. You will go far. Thank you.
LArry says
you probably think anyone that disagrees with you is bullying you am I correct? Let’s be honest, in many ways our high school kids are ignorant. They are impressionable and easy to indoctrinate. I think you know this. Ignorant also is not a derogatory word. Look it up! It’s a word that describes someone lack of knowledge of a give topic. This is VERY true. Until these students have had time to grow and experience the real world they are IGNORANT of what is out there. so take your thin skin somewhere else. Tired of PC folks like you!

@Christie, Paige, Mason Mom and others
I am a fact presenter not a hater or a bully. Here is a copy of the email that I have sent to the Principal, Mason City School Board members as well as the short message to the Muslim School Association Representative.
Dear School Board Member,
I write to you in hopes that you will reconsider Mason High’s decision to host “A Covered Girl Challenge” on April 23, 2015.
This fact of incompatibility has most recently been reflected by the results of polls conducted in both Muslim and non-Muslim populations in the UK, Australia, Canada, and the US. Truly one need only look through daily current events to see the tragic and deadly consequences of this morbid incompatibility–an incompatibility that your “Covered Girl Challenge” would potentially cover up.
Disclosing the very real day-to-day oppression of shari’a by the follow-up MSA-facilitated discussion groups will likely be discarded for addressing the vague discomfort expressed by the women in the explanatory youtube that is suggested for viewing by the same MSA sponsor: https://youtu.be/_WosD_GTz_E.
My concern is that the oppression of political Islam is hidden from students and parents by events like the one that is scheduled for April 23rd at Mason High. Please use your authority to cancel it and substitute a showing of Dr. Bill Warner’s Why We are Afraid, a 1400 Year Secret (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_Qpy0mXg8Y).

To: masonhsmsa@gmail.com
Dear Muslim School Association Representative,
As you can see, I have sent the following email to Principal McCarty. I have also sent a similar email to each of Mason City School District’s school board members and to Superintendent Cline.
I suspect that you see yourself as one who is supporting tolerance and diversity.
I wonder if you might have dear friends and perhaps even family members who with the best and even holiest of intentions might succumb to the 3-sided jihad triangle described here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjvfaZIDLCg
Please reconsider your determined effort to hold this event which is nothing more than propagandist indoctrination disguised as merely “trying to understand the minority”.
Linde Barrera says
To islam_is_Islam- You hit it out of the park with your email. Thank you for your succinct and truthful assessment of Islam and all its ramifications. 5 stars! ☆☆☆☆☆
Largebill says
Holy crap! I live in an adjacent town and am disgusted by Mason doing something so stupid.
I do disagree with the idea of contacting the principal. She obviously is a nut and will not be influenced by a rational explanation of how awful and idea this is. However, even nuts have bosses in bureaucracies. Contact the school board. School boards are usually NOT career indoctrinists and likely would understand why this should never take place in a public school. Here is a link to school board members which includes their contact info. I hope they are just unaware that this rogue principal is training future islamic sympathizers (if not ISIS wannabees).

Mason says
So you can’t say a pray during school because it might spread people’s beliefs on kids in a public school but you can host a day where people get to learn all about Islam. Isn’t that the same thing? Why’s it different for one religion than all the others
Larry says
Mason, SMH.. What in the world is wrong you morons? This isn’t about respecting a religious belief but rather celebrating the oppression of women. Are you guys completely insane?!?!?!?!
;) says
After seeing this article on Facebook and proceeding to read the comments I am extremely annoyed. To the people responding so badly about this event: Do you really think anyone cares about your opinion? No. Especially not to anyone who is important. As a former student now attending a university (so I should be able to converse with the self-loathing, ritcheous, what’s up your ass? people). To be honest if I was still a student at Mason High I wouldn’t be partaking in this event, not because I don’t agree with it but because some of the students may just not CARE. (my opinion) I do actually think it would be interesting to see, but again I would not care if we had it or not. Now you might take that in a bad light when I say I don’t care, what I mean is that if these students want to have their event and it gets the go ahead then who cares!!! You don’t have to take part in it, do you? The students don’t have to take part in it, do they? and the faculty doesn’t have to take part in it. So it’s clear that you don’t have to take part in the event now, good. Let’s take this time to remember that this is a PUBLIC school. If you have a problem then when you have kids or if you already do, send them to a private school where they won’t be subjected to diversity as seen in public schools. You all must be forgetting that times are changing and the younger generations are much more excepting. Bad things will always happen in the world, no matter which way you look at an issue someone will be against you. Yes, someone could protest about the abused and murdered women, you are right! With the beauty of PUBLIC schools, I’m sure that if they can make a day of awareness for the women who want to wear the hijab then they can make a day of awearness for the women who have suffered. I just couldn’t help myself as I was laughing at the comments and I had to say something. Do you gain credibility in this online forum with such tasteless jokes? Calling someone a plant? You’ve got to be kidding me hahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Get off your high horse and get over what a town in Ohio is choosing to do. Find something better to do, I sure hope you can. (btw (“by the way” for you old folks) I’m not trying to be professional in any way, especially not trying to compete with you seasoned commenters) I just had an opinion to share like everyone on this forum. I’m not any different than you. And if I’m wrong then you are wrong, because we are both technically just sharing opinions. Opinions aren’t fact and quite frankly won’t matter in the grand scheme of things lol.
MissyT says
Dear Student: You believe you are so wise and your pontification simply shows how little you know how students are being manipulated and used to the disadvantage of women in this case. This stunt is actually the reverse of what is happening in the Mideast with women putting their lives in jeopardy to demonstrate without the burkas and hijab, so perhaps you should actually do some research on the issue and see the big picture, rather than defending the indefensible. But then again, women manipulating women wouldn’t be so new, just don’t buy into the wonder of doing something so silly when women are being mutilated under the thumb of Sharia and the culture. Google Honor Diaries to hear how these women suffer. If someone wants to follow Islam and that is their choice and not their husbands or fathers and wishes to do whatever they wish to do that is fine, but elevating this as a symbol of solidarity is ridiculous for many of these women if not all with few exceptions wish to live free, and they should do so.
Linde Barrera says
To ;)- My opinion is that your opinion about opinions is just wrong! An opinion, if enough of them are collected, can vote a candidate into or out of office. An opinion if given by 12 people as one jury, can sentence a prisoner to death, to prison time or declare the prisoner innocent. An opinion, if expressed by a large number of people with the same opinion, can create a best selling book or potato chip. An opinion, if given by a large number of people, can send an astronaut into space. Of course every opinion must be based on some knowledge of sorts, of evidence, of testimony, or doctrine. So I think you should reconsider your ideas about the power of opinion!
MissyT says
This is insanity. As a feminist I cannot believe the BS that is infiltrating our culture utilizing symbols of a culture that insists Sharia law is the way. Are we to support female genital mutilation? Suppression of women’s rights to drive, leave the house without male escort, throw GLBT people off the highest building in the town for existing? Where are the feminist organizations? Where is the National Organization for Women, Hillary, Steinem? Anybody???? Now this clearly revels that these organization and people have NO interest in women, rather they are interested in aggrandizing themselves and gathering $ for themselves under false pretense and hidden Agendas! The women overseas in the Mideast are fighting for rights NOT to be covered in garb and suppressed and this women and those who join here are just bullshitting themselves that they are doing anything worthwhile – they are helping to suppress women!! What a crock of cr*p, really! Appalling!
pfbonney says
Their hijabs should have pig and/or pork designs on them. Or images of Muhammad. The boys should also get in on the act, dressing up like sheiks (who function as mayors in the Islamic world), wearing flowing bright white robes, and start bossing people around (particularly actual Muslims). And perhaps they too could have images of bacon strips, pork chops and pigs printed on the fabric.
It wouldn’t take the school too long to rethink its policy.
Sue says
I believe this is a student-sponsored event, and participation is voluntary. I’m a Christian, and I’m appalled by the hateful comments that are being posted.

hi, another mason student speaking. as an senior I wish somthing like this would have been available in past years. I think this opportunity is great insight. everyone who is shooting this out of the sky needs to butt out leave. nobody in the student body stands with racism, hell for that matter we don’t degrade fellow students because of their beliefs.. you guys who are massively hating on this are the annoying Christians who stand outside of reds games… quite frankly I thought here in America we got over racism and bigotry. all you ‘adults’ posting the garbage here need to find a job get a life.
Steve says
When will enough be enough? I’m sick to death of the religious views of Christians being completely put aside so we can make allowances for Muslims. We have to be tolerant of them? This is our country, so if they live here let them ASSIMILATE into our culture. In their countries we would be forced to do so but we keep giving away our culture bit by bit. ENOUGH ALREADY!
BrendA iSAJIW says
I’m with you 100%, Steve!

This is not a Christian country. Maybe you should go back and read your history.
FBA says
Actually it is you who needs to go back and re-read your history. That old chestnut your peddling has been exposed for the lie that it is. Get educated before you post stupid garbage like you did.
marr says
I think you just said I was stupid. Angry mean responses to my “food for thought” comments will not get you angry mean responses in return. I am very comfortable in my well-informed opinions and history indeed was and is included in my considered opinions. History indeed speaks volumes as to the practices and outcomes of fundamentalists from cultures all over this planet.
Me says
Actually our country was founded by Christians. And that’s a fact!
TheBuffster says
It was founded by Christians and Deists. Thomas Jefferson was a Deist, for example. He didn’t believe in the miracles in the Bible, and he was critical of various aspects of the Bible, but he did admire Jesus’s example and philosophy, which is why he created the Jefferson Bible – just the non-miraculous sayings of Jesus.
But those Deists and Christians recognized that the government must be based on the recognition that every person has the right to work out his beliefs for himself, and to have the equal protection of the laws no matter what his views on religion. The government was not to take sides on the issue of religion.
Jefferson said: “Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call to her tribunal every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blindfolded fear.”
The United States was founded in an era, the “Enlightenment”, the “Age of Reason”, when reason was prized over faith, and the right of a mind to seek truth for itself, without having to fear government enforcement of religious edicts, was the ruling principle that guided the founding of the USA.
Yes, this came out of an historically Christian culture, but the principles of individual rights (Liberty) – while compatible with Christianity’s best principles – are ones that any honest mind needs in order to live in good conscience, whether that mind believes in God or Jesus or not. The USA was founded on an understanding of individual liberty, not on a dedication to Jesus or Christian doctrine or any other religious doctrine.
Linde Barrera says
To The Buffster- Your comments about Thomas Jefferson, Christians and the founding of America are so well put and truthful. Thank you. (In my opinion, no country should have a “state sponsored religion” of any kind.) Keep writing!
Margaret says
I’m with you Steve! let’s ask Muslims to carry a rosary for a day!
Thereaa says
Here is my letter:
“I am curious about “A Covered Girl Challenge” which will allow students to wear a headscarf for the whole school day. What really are you trying to accomplish here? Will there also be a day where all students are invited to bring rosaries to school, or wear a crucifix, or perhaps a Star of David? Will you ask students to wear a yarmulke? Or are these types of symbols not acceptable? What about symbols of the Hindu Faith, or perhaps Buddhists? Will there be a chance for those students to be honored in such a way? How do you feel about how women in Predominantly Muslim countries are oppressed, especially if they do not wear a hijab or burka? How do you feel about the subjugation of women and female children in those countries, where it is common for them to not even be offered an education? How about the fact that many of those women went through female genital mutilation as young girls? Is that ok? Will it even be brought up for discussion at your schools “event”?
I await your thoughtful reply.”
Anne Harpen says
This is the high school I graduated from. They have since cancelled the event
Libby says
i think it’s an awful thing that they took this opportunity away from the students. They have the right to be able to do this for a day to open up their eyes to a different world that society its trying to make all of us fear.
JR says
The problem with this idea is that it goes too far. Covering your head in Islam has meaning, it’s not just like trying on native garb from differing countries. Can you imagine a public school offering ‘wear a cross around your neck, day’? If not, why not?
There is a huge difference between a lecture on the subject, or a course in comparative religion with actually wearing religious garb. But if you were actually to do the latter, then you’d better have a day where each major religion does the same thing. Else it smacks of indoctrination.
Larry2332 says
but people wear crosses to school everyday. This is an opportunity to learn about another culture. It was also left up to the students CHOICE to do so, nothing was forced on them.
poor persocuted Christians
Linde Barrera says
To Larry 2332- You are so damn right “poor persecuted Christians”. How about if I nominate you for persecution?

Religion has no place in schools. Are they going to have an atheist day for non-believers?
Having said that, please remember that there are many many law abiding muslim citizens who have the same values as christians and jews, etc., wanting their children to grow up educated and contributing citizens to this wonderful country of ours.
Citizen Ghost says
They already have ‘atheist day’ every single school day of the year, because of the hypocrites that atheists are, by shoving their fantasy religion of evolution down the throats of every kid in school, but refusing to offer an alternative view, like oh say CREATION!
xxxcChurch100 says
Dear Citizen Ghost
Evolution / Creations’ alternative ,
Therein you have identified a problem not only within our schools but throughout our Christian Churches .
Did God really say 6 days of Creation and then a day of rest ? Seemingly no .
This non acceptance of Gods’ account regarding His own Creation has resulted in the undermining of the authority of His Word , which is now manifesting worldwide in Churches.
Jesus was truly the “Son of God” , Jesus warned that many would come and try to for fill His claim .
Mohammed claimed to be the last and final prophet of God with the final revelation from God ….
But , to the issue at hand , the wear a “Hijab” experience ,
Islam believes Mohammed , and usually delivers his message at the point of a sword but not in this instance. Why don’t the organisers offer more than the hijab experience , the full deal , the completely covered women , the “non- existent” woman like you see in Afghanistan, Iran or Iraq ?……. most married off by age 12 to men 3 times their age ..
Will those issues be explained by the organisers of this event ?
Jerry says
Next they will ask them to wear a suicide vest for a moment.
keith says
It is just a matter of time before these kids will be strapping on explosive vests to wear to school.
Tori says
As a student at Mason High, I find the absolutely sickening. This is exactly what we were wanting to do, raise awareness that these girls go through. “Walking in another persons shoes” was our goal…the fact you ignorant adults are condemning these young ladies, for sharing something they believe is bs. We do celebrate others, we celebrate every race, religion, and even sexuality. So the fact of this article, just proves how closed minded you all are.
Lee says
@Tori “…what we were wanting to do, raise awareness that these girls go through.”
No you weren’t. Why weren’t the boys going to wear the hijab? What better way for *all* students to understand this aspect of oppression. And when were the lectures on Muslim oppression of girls through the hijab planned – the Sheikh-approved physical threats, the shaming, the clothes police, the murders?
As to your claim “we celebrate every…religion” – when did you celebrate Scientology?
You have been manipulated, or you are a liar. The fact is, there’s only one Jihadi death-cult, and that’s the only one you wanted to promote.
marr says
Tori, you are the future. Stay strong, love knowledge. The anger and venom you are experiencing from these rapid closed minded adults is also an unfortunate part of a young person’s education….the recognition that life is filled with plenty of folks less intelligent and educated than you yet they will demand their dogma is righteous. Tori, you give me hope.
Linde Barrera says
To marr- So based on your message to Tori, if I don’t want to wear the religious garb of another religion, or advocate that others do it, I am a rabid, closed-minded individual? If your answer is “YES” then you have an agenda! I wonder wonder wonder what your agenda is? Can you provide more details marr, or do you just want to continue bullying and name calling?
Lee says
Tori, did you ever see the movie ‘Cape Fear’? It features the criminal Max Cady (played by Robert De Niro) who manipulates an impressionable schoolgirl in it. ‘Marr’ the Islamofascist is Max Cady – read his comment, watch the movie, have a laugh – I think he even copied some of the script into his comment!
marr says
If you would really like to witness some real-life extreme manipulation of impressionable young minds, attend any evangelical or fundamentalist “old book” revival of any religion in any culture. In other words, the character from Cape Fear could be any delusional adult forcing dogma on the impressionable.
Lee says
“the character from Cape Fear could be any delusional adult forcing dogma” – no, Max Cady is a *criminal psychopath*.
Given you’ve come onto this board and refused to condemn Islamic abuse of women and girls over the hijab – including the murders Mr.Spencer links to, or the links I provided of the Islamic clerics preaching the *beating* of girls from the age of 10 if they refuse the hijab, the Iranian clothes police harassing women, or the Islamic clerics justifying gang-rapes where the girl wasn’t wearing a hijab, I think you’ve pretty much outed yourself as a psychopath.
Schools giving uncritical validation to such abusive aspects of Islamic ideology is dangerous, because it encourages people to disregard the suffering of others. Such a shame you are not able to care for people, only Islam.
marr says
Hmmmm. We strap baby boys to a board and remove parts of their penis while they scream bloody murder and this is a US practice based solely on old book traditions and continued to be pushed by US people who idolize their old book. We are so very much more advanced in our old book values than anyone else. I read here more hypocrisy than I read intelligent meaningful sense. We are so much better than everyone else.
Linde Barrera says
To Marr- I heard a general news report years ago that stated ” Women of any society get less cervical cancer when the men of that society are circumsized”. Men are also considered “healthier” if they have this procedure done”. Painful it is, but it is temporary pain thank God, and the benefits last a lifetime. Baby boys who are withiin newborn to a few weeks old are in the most advantageous position to have this done. So without getting personal, I don’t understand your issue with circumcision.
marr says
Regarding old book traditions……pick one any one. I chose our old book because I know it well and live amongst its practitioners and I chose a very old barbaric practice here at home to show how we pick and choose bits and pieces of evidence when and only when they agree with our old book beliefs and traditions.
Living here at home I have learned: So many people living for heaven create so much living hell. Let’s look at one example, circumcision. I see it apropros since we are talking about the decision to wear or not wear a hood based on beliefs established in the old books of the local culture: Bhagavad Gita, Bible, Buddhist Texts, Divrei Torah, Mormon Texts, etc.
From the AMA and American Association of Pediatrics Group: After a comprehensive review of the scientific evidence, the American Academy of Pediatrics found the health benefits of newborn male circumcision outweigh the risks, but the benefits are not great enough to recommend universal newborn circumcision. The AAP policy statement published Monday, August 27, says the final decision should still be left to parents to make in the context of their religious, ethical and cultural beliefs.
There is science and there is old book belief. We choose to perform this surgical procedure on defenseless baby boys MOSTLY out of religious old book traditions. (Aside: If evidence indicated that the removal of part of me prevented illness in another, I would responsibly consider this as a smart caring adult.) The modern day scientific evidence still does not substantiate this surgical procedure, IT REMAINS VOLUNTEER and based on “beliefs.”
Faced with the decision for hood or no hood, our culture permits us to make this choice by looking into the really old texts idolized in your culture for the answers. Religion trumps evidence whenever it is contrary to belief. And since we have been butchering babies for far longer than medical studies have been conducted, this practice was and remains based mostly on people believing a supernatural deity requires this practice and had some man write it down for him. But, I forgot, our supernatural deity and our book are the one and only true ones and thus the reason for all the horror at a public education building permitting a day of awareness of another cultural belief. This would then acknowledge that there exists cultures that are aware of the eternal salvation offered by ours and choose another. It’s like they aren’t afraid of hell.
We a born in a culture waving one old book, they are born in a culture waving another old book, and over there….. they are born in a culture with yet another old book and traditions. And we stand facing and screaming at each other like frantic rabid sports fans. We and only we have access to the one and only true team.
I say look at the fruits the cultural beliefs bear: incarceration rates, murder rates, capital punishment rates, state of public education, unequal opportunity for women and minorities, unequal pay for equal work, the assault on women at universities, bigotry, racism, war, ………
Until we get our own house in order, perhaps we could show a bit more humility. But then that would require a civil secular empathy and that is not a value held with significant regard. People who live for an afterlife have very different values than folks who do not.
The dogma pushers will forever be at each others throats…..no matter any evidence revealed to the contrary of their faith.
We are very afraid to teach our children how to learn because they may grow and learn and one day disagree with us. And then perhaps we would have to learn. Most prefer to teach what to think out and not how.
A fact is still a fact whether you believe it or not.
Thus endeth the rant of marr.
Fern says
Honestly you all can continue to attack this event but even if it isn’t sponsored by the school, hundreds of MHS girls support the event and nothing can stop them from wearing head scarves next Thursday. This is just bringing more attention to the event and inspiring more people to stand up for diversity. Peace out
Citizen Ghost says
Awesome! Well then, let’s just begin plans for the “A Christian Girl, Come Meet Jesus Prayer Breakfast” for Back to School in the Fall. Think that’ll go over well, or might that be where the school administrators draw that handy little “Separation-of-Church-and-State” line that no one can cross without a court case, Hmm? The fact that this event was ok’d in the first place, knowing that a Christian event like the one I just named would never even be discussed or considered is what we’ve been talking about here.
Yeah, now you’re awake, aren’t you?

Any public school in the United States shouldn’t be supplying a forum, publicity, furniture or a meeting place for a religious group.
What kind of a moron would ever approve such an event to begin with?
Steph says
This isn’t correct. This is what Mason High School sent out after finding out about the event. get your facts straight before you go on a rant.
Dear MHS Family,
Earlier today, you received an email about a Covered For A Day event.
This communication should not have come from our Student Activities Department because this was a student-led initiative, rather than a school-sponsored activity. We will put procedures into place in the future that ensure that any communication from a school email is for a school-sponsored event, and not merely supported by a student-run group.
I appreciate that the student group’s intention was thoughtful because they sought to make sure parents were aware of the event, and to include them so that they could participate with their child. I apologize to any of our Mason community members, parents, staff and students who were offended by the message.
Mason High School is committed to being an inclusive and safe environment for all students – regardless of race or religion. The students sponsoring the event only want to combat stereotypes that they face when wearing head coverings. Mason City Schools’ diversity is a source of pride. I am committed to continuing to celebrate all of our cultural richness.
As the event spread beyond our school community, however, we received many strong messages that made me reconsider the event’s ability to meet its objectives. I now realize that as adults we should have given our students better guidance. After much consideration and after talking with the student event organizers, we have cancelled the event.

What does it say about the level of trust and faith you have in your god if the day in the life of a high school can cause the replacement of your god with another? And BTW: The slogan “In God We Trust” has been around only since the 1950s when we were so afraid of the godless communists. And today we live here afraid of so very much more. I find it very enlightening to read and hear all the fear and anger by those who have aligned themselves with an almighty god. Indeed, so many living for heaven create so much living hell. Thanks for reminding me.

”What does it say about the level of trust and faith you have in your god if the day in the life of a high school can cause the replacement of your god with another?”
What does the above comment say about your cognitive skills ?
The issues are not about ‘one day in the life of a high school’, but, as various commenters have pointed out, far deeper.
1. Separation of religion and State. If Christians are not allowed to proselytise their faith in public schools, with prayers etc. why should islam be an exception ? Why should islam be allowed to flout the law, with the collusion of the school ?
2. No-one is stopping, or attempting to stop, any muslim girl wearing a scarf, who wishes to do so. The point is, this ‘day’ is attempting to inveigle others into doing so, in order ‘to see what it feels like’. If you think those who refused to participate wouldn’t have become the target of subtle bullying, you know zero about teenage girls.
**More importantly**, why is the school not suggesting muslims come to school wearing a cross, or a kippah, or a namiste, or any of the outward trappings of any other faith ? You haven’t addressed this, at all. Is it because you are well aware how such a suggestion would be received, not just by muslims, but people like yourself ?
Neither have you addressed the fact that wearing a hijab *may* be voluntary for some muslim girls in the US; for millions more, all over the world, it is literally a matter of life or death. And neither has the school addressed *this** fact.
You say;
”I find it very enlightening to read and hear all the fear and anger by those who have aligned themselves with an almighty god.”
There are *many* commenters here, and I am one, who have no religious faith, and yet find this totally reprehensible, on the grounds I have outlined above. Many comments show this. Your implication that only those with a Christian agenda would find this ‘day’ appalling, holds no water.
You say;
” Indeed, so many living for heaven create so much living hell.”
I take it your phrase ”living for heaven” refers to Christians, and not muslims.
Do you seriously consider that Christians, or any other religion except islam, or agnostics, or atheists, who object to their daughters being inveigled into wearing a symbol of submission, and misogyny, have created a ”living hell” ? For whom ? Have any of these people stopped, or attempte to stop, muslim girls from wearing it ? No, they have not. So where is the ‘living hell’ ?
Finally, I would remind **you**, that the only religion, today, which, by ‘living for heaven’ (or Jannah), and which creates a **living hell** for others, is islam.
I would hazard a guess you have never actually read the koran, the hadith, or read the life of mohammed, the founder and creator of islam. May I suggest you do so. I think you may find them enlightening, especially in terms of the conduct of muslims, throughout the world, every day, following the tenets of their religion. One of which, enjoins on muslim females that they wear the hijab.

I have read most of the writings held sacred by most cultures over decades. And because the list is lengthy, permit me to say both eastern and western books of faith/scripture (Koran included), their authors, their history and yes I am speaking from deep within the bible culture where the dogma of this culture is on billboards, TVs, roadsides, my public buildings and…….. So when I say heaven I refer to all the afterlives and supernatural wishes for which anyone becomes so sufficiently indignant and righteous that they war with the other indignant or brainwash rather than educate or experience the only opportunity for heavenly bliss…..now. And I will likely forever be at odds with anyone who holds sacred a text or tradition or practice that perpetuates us all remaining at odds with others. I am only interested in a universal truth that resonates with the infinity of everything and places us in the happiest place we can all be. I ain’t found it in any one book, in any one place and from the mouth of any one person.
Kinda back to kindergarten for me with a library of books about stars, and flying, and frogs, and insects and into the woods to find them and MORELS and under the dark sky inside the infinite…………ahhhh, heaven. Step right up folks, Don’t miss out. It is a one time only short film. Blink. You missed it. Maybe? Could be?
Create good memories and help those around you create good ones too. Everything else seems to just get in the way. Good day.

To Mirren10- Your comment to marr was first rate. Thank you for your truthful eloquence. I am glad I subscribe to Jihad Watch because what I learn here cannot be located in too many places, at least that I know of.
Mirren10 says
Thank you, Linde.
You’ll note that marr has not dealt with *any* of my points. He, and others like him, simply want to wallow in a sort of amorphous, kumbya glow, feeling themselves superior, whilst determinedly ignoring terrible realities others point out.
Such as he will never grasp this, however.
marr says
“You’ll note that marr has not dealt with *any* of my points.” Well yes I did, not all only some because you started off with a passive aggressive personal attack with the opening question: “What does the above comment say about your cognitive skills?” You did not encourage me to take much else you had to say with much consideration or regard. So, here is a point: History his replete with examples of atrocities (living hell) in the name of religion (i.e. the crusades, jihad, the inquisition, 30 Years War, etc. ). Three of the four were christian.
Then you said “Such as he will never grasp this, however.” “Such as he…..” is again passive aggressive.
Life is too short to engage mean people or bullies. They too make life a living hell.
Good bye.

marr you are a sad joke with your MIXED ANALOGIE
marr goes from specific events to conveniently obtuse which proves that marr cares little for truth.
marr conflates 1400 years of Islam’s bloodbath, including non stop honor killings into a neat little generic PC package called (jihad).
When marr says jihad marr means to imply ‘misunderstanders’ of Islam.
Even Ben Affleck says ‘jihad’ is bad.

I fail to see my comment about your ‘cognitive skills’ was any more ‘passive aggressive’ than your snide sneer;
”What does it say about the level of trust and faith you have in your god if the day in the life of a high school can cause the replacement of your god with another?”
However, your comment is merely an attempt at a face saving excuse not to deal with any of my points. Your assertion, based on nothing you said, that you did so, is patently untrue.
Life is too short to engage with fools.
Mason Parent says
As a Mason parent, I don’t get the xenophobic psychosis over the headscarf thing. Kids reach out seeking to understand each other, and that’s somehow bad? Walking a mile in someone else’s shoes is always enlightening. That’s the real way forward. As adults we should be setting a better example than that, and in this case, learn from our kids. There will always be haters and trolls; we move past them.
Mirren10 says
Then, as a ‘Mason parent’, I’m sure you will be contacting the school, to suggest that the **muslim** students come to school for a day, wearing a cross, a kippah, or a bindi, and greet each other with the Namaste, in order to ‘see how it feels’.
I think you will find the ‘xenophobic psychosis’ thus generated most interesting.
