NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WHAS11) – On Tuesday, Sept. 22, officials from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Hackensack, N.J. executed a search warrant that resulted in the detention of a juvenile suspect.
New Albany Chief of Police Todd Bailey said a 17-year-old juvenile is suspected to be involved in several ongoing local cases.
According to Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli, the investigation revealed the juvenile was using the internet to send threatening messages towards the President of the United States and the White House. The Juvenile, according to police, also made threatening references to being involved in an attack at the 9/11 memorial, and to having “friends” in ISIS who were planning to attack New York City.
A separate and independent investigation, initiated by the New Albany, Indiana Police Department, identified the juvenile as a suspect in several “swatting” incidents in New Albany. New Albany’s investigation revealed the threats were being made from the suspect’s residence in Hackensack, N.J. “Swatting” is when a person tricks emergency responders into deploying a SWAT team to an unsuspecting person’s home under false means.

Additional charges may follow pending computer forensics of electronic devices that were seized during the execution of a search warrant at the juvenile’s home, Molinelli said….
