Nigel Farage, UKIP’s former leader and someone who once seemed to have a solid understanding of the jihad threat, recently campaigned hard against counter-jihad candidate Ann Marie Waters in her bid for the UKIP leadership, vowing to form yet another new party if she became UKIP’s leader, and saying after she was defeated: “I very much hope she leaves today.”
And now this. Trump himself said it best, tweeting yesterday evening:”.@Theresa_May, don’t focus on me, focus on the destructive Radical Islamic Terrorism that is taking place within the United Kingdom. We are doing just fine!” The real question is not whether this or that video is accurate, but whether there is a problem with jihad terror and Islamic supremacism in Britain and elsewhere. All that is being lost in the controversy over Trump’s retweets, and Farage of all people should know better.
Farage’s disgraceful cowardice doesn’t surprise me. Last year I approached him at an event where we were both speaking, introduced myself, explained that I had been banned from Britain for noting correctly that Islam has doctrines of warfare against unbelievers, and asked his help to overturn the ban. The 300-watt smile he was beaming in all directions suddenly vanished, along with his confident mien and the color in his face. He began to stammer and sputter. “That’s very difficult,” he muttered. “That’s very difficult.” And that was that. Farage had no reason to stick his neck out for me, of course, but his obvious discomfort over even the prospect of speaking out against my ban suggested a larger discomfort with confronting the real life-and-death problem facing the UK today: Sharia and Islamization, and the present government’s disastrous policy of appeasement and accommodation of Islamic supremacists.
Now Farage’s unwillingness to deal with this problem is manifest to the world.
And again: these were videos of Muslims being violent. They’re only “anti-Muslim videos” if one believes that all Muslims condone this behavior. Is that what LBC thinks?
“Nigel Farage Says Trump Got It Wrong Over Anti-Muslim Retweets,” LBC, November 29, 2017:
Nigel Farage has criticised Donald Trump for retweeting anti-Muslim videos, saying he showed “poor judgement”….
At least one of the unverified videos has been found to be fake, but the White House insists the point about “border security” remains.
Broadcasting from Brussels, the Ukip MEP and Trump ally said the Republican should hold his hands up.
He said: “I do think these videos are very bad taste and he showed poor judgement.
“Of that I have no doubt at all.”
Speaking of the White House’s defence, he added: “I think that was a mistake.
“There are times when perhaps its better to put your hands up and say ‘I got this wrong’ and frankly try to move on”.
