And it’s likely that no one who allocated or spent this money had any idea why women are discriminated against in Afghanistan, and why “harmful socio-cultural norms” kept them from making major progress. They have no clue about this because it’s all about Islam, which is likewise not mentioned in the article below. All too many on the side of freedom become as politically correct as any leftist when it comes to Islam, jihad, and Sharia.
The Qur’an teaches that men are superior to women and should beat those from whom they “fear disobedience”: “Men have authority over women because Allah has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because Allah has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them.” — Qur’an 4:34
Muhammad’s child bride, Aisha, says in a hadith that Muhammad “struck me on the chest which caused me pain, and then said: ‘Did you think that Allah and His Apostle would deal unjustly with you?’” — Sahih Muslim 2127
The Qur’an likens a woman to a field (tilth), to be used by a man as he wills: “Your women are a tilth for you, so go to your tilth as you will” — Qur’an 2:223
It declares that a woman’s testimony is worth half that of a man: “Get two witnesses, out of your own men, and if there are not two men, then a man and two women, such as you choose, for witnesses, so that if one of them errs, the other can remind her” — Qur’an 2:282
It allows men to marry up to four wives, and have sex with slave girls also: “If you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, marry women of your choice, two or three or four; but if you fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly, then only one, or one that your right hands possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice” — Qur’an 4:3
It rules that a son’s inheritance should be twice the size of that of a daughter: “Allah directs you as regards your children’s inheritance: to the male, a portion equal to that of two females” — Qur’an 4:11
It allows for marriage to pre-pubescent girls, stipulating that Islamic divorce procedures “shall apply to those who have not yet menstruated” — Qur’an 65:4
Islamic law stipulates that a man’s prayer is annulled if a dog or a woman passes in front of him as he is praying. “Narrated ‘Aisha: The things which annul the prayers were mentioned before me. They said, “Prayer is annulled by a dog, a donkey and a woman (if they pass in front of the praying people).” I said, ‘You have made us (i.e. women) dogs.’ I saw the Prophet praying while I used to lie in my bed between him and the Qibla. Whenever I was in need of something, I would slip away. for I disliked to face him.” — Sahih Bukhari 1.9.490
Another hadith depicts Muhammad saying that the majority of the inhabitants of hell are women:
“I looked into Paradise and I saw that the majority of its people were the poor. And I looked into Hell and I saw that the majority of its people are women.” — Sahih Bukhari 3241; Sahih Muslim 2737
When asked about this, he explained:
“I was shown Hell and I have never seen anything more terrifying than it. And I saw that the majority of its people are women.” They said, “Why, O Messenger of Allah?” He said, “Because of their ingratitude (kufr).” It was said, “Are they ungrateful to Allah?” He said, “They are ungrateful to their companions (husbands) and ungrateful for good treatment. If you are kind to one of them for a lifetime then she sees one (undesirable) thing in you, she will say, ‘I have never had anything good from you.’” — Sahih Bukhari 1052
And in another hadith:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went out to the musalla (prayer place) on the day of Eid al-Adha or Eid al-Fitr. He passed by the women and said, ‘O women! Give charity, for I have seen that you form the majority of the people of Hell.’ They asked, ‘Why is that, O Messenger of Allah?’ He replied, ‘You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religious commitment than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you.’ The women asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah, what is deficient in our intelligence and religious commitment?’ He said, ‘Is not the testimony of two women equal to the testimony of one man?’ They said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Is it not true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?’ The women said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘This is the deficiency in her religious commitment.’” — Sahih Bukhari 304
Another statement attributed to Muhammad: “If a husband calls his wife to his bed [i.e. to have sexual relation] and she refuses and causes him to sleep in anger, the angels will curse her till morning.” — Sahih Bukhari 4.54.460
“The U.S. Spent $787 Million On ‘Gender Equality’ Projects In Afghanistan,” by John Hawkins, Bongino.com, February 18, 2021:
A report issued by Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction noted that even though the United States spent more than $787 million dollars on “gender equality projects” in Afghanistan since 2002, “harmful socio-cultural norms” kept them [from] making major progress.
The report did note that some small advances. The number of pregnant women receiving prenatal care rose, that more women are working in healthcare and the literacy rate among women grew. However, the report also noted,
The positive story of gains across these sectors is tempered by the reality that significant barriers—including restrictive sociocultural norms and insecurity— continue to impede progress for Afghan women and girls.
• Girls’ access to education is constrained by the lack of female teachers and infrastructure, and pressures on girls to withdraw from school at puberty.
• A lack of female healthcare providers, restrictive sociocultural practices, lack of education, and prohibitive costs pose barriers to women seeking health care.
• The quality of health care and education remains a problem, and education gains have been largely at the primary school level.
• Gains across sectors have been geographically uneven, with rural women and girls experiencing significantly less improvement overall.
• Women who have ventured into non-traditional and historically male-dominated areas—such as the media, security forces, and politics—are at higher risk of retaliation by the Taliban and anti-government elements.
• Gender disparity is still a persistent characteristic of the Afghan labor force.
None of this is exactly a shock given what the country is like. Read this quote and you’ll get an idea of the culture is like in Afghanistan,
“Men in our community think the role of women is to sit at home and cook,” a woman from Nangarhar Province said, as part of a series of SIGAR-commissioned interviews. “If their mothers tell them to behave well with their wives, so they do, and if their mothers order them to beat their wives and misbehave, so they also do.”…

The United States was attacked on 9/11/2001. Unfortunately the lessons of that attack have still not been learned. The attack came from inside America by adherents of an enemy ideology who had been allowed to enter America.
Bill Clinton and George W Bush allowed a Trojan Horse to enter America. Neither had a clue how to prevent that 9/11 or further 9/11s. So long as Islam exists America will be vulnerable to further attacks from adherents of an ideology which mandates conquest.
Monitoring potential Muslims terrorists who come into America is costly, but is to be preferred to the approach taken by George W Bush who wasted American lives and treasure by killing terrorists in Muslim countries while praising the ideology which produced the terrorists.
Madness is a good word to describe that policy.
Barring entry is the most sensible policy, but that will never occur until a majority of Americans accept that Islam is not a religion. It is a supremacist, totalitarian, imperialist, political, conquest ideology with irrational – purportedly religious – aspects. Until Islam is recognized for what is the conquest will continue.

Thank you Robert Spencer for this excellent summary of Muhammad’s doctrine of misogyny. I am sharing it with the women I love.
So why is this anti-female dogma off limits for western feminists? And why. has Muhammad not been a target of the Me Too Movement?
Is it that Islam and feminists have a common enemy? Is it that terrorism works? Is it a case of See What Brown Can Do For You?
What else is it?

Here are some of the reasons why misogyny and equality are prevalent in Afghastlistan and WILL CONTINUE to be prevalent until these texts are debunked.
The hadiths of Mohammed that insult and degrade all women. The following are the words of Mohammed:
– I think that women were created for nothing but evil
– Women have ten ‘awrat (vulvas). When she gets married, the husband covers one, and when she dies the grave covers the ten (of her shameful parts)
– A straw mat in the corner of the house is preferable to a barren woman
– Women are toys, so choose (your ‘toys’)
– The woman is a toy, whoever takes her, let him care for her [or do not lose her]
– Had it not been for women, God would have truly, truly been worshipped
– Men perished the day they obeyed the women
– Obedience to a woman’s advice causes regret
– Consult women and act contrary (to it)
– Sneezing, drowsing, yawning in prayer, also menstruation, vomiting and nose-bleeding are from Satan
– When…your affairs are in the hands of your women, the interior of the earth (hell) will be the better for you than its surface
– If a woman offered one of her breasts to be cooked and the other to be roasted, she still will fall short of fulfilling her obligations to her husband. And besides that if she disobeys her husband even for a twinkling of an eye, she would be thrown in the lowest part of Hell, except she repents and turns back
– Mohammed asked some women, “Isn’t the witness of a woman equal to half that of a man?” The women said, “Yes,” He said, “This is because of the deficiency of the woman’s mind.”
– I have not seen any one more deficient in intelligence and religion than you (women)
– I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers are women.
– Bad omen is in the woman, the house and the horse
– After me I have not left any affliction more harmful to men than women
– Don’t wear false hair for Allah sends His curse upon such ladies who lengthen their hair artificially
– Treat women well for they are like domestic animals and they possess nothing themselves. Allah has made the enjoyment of their bodies lawful in his Qur’an
– Women, slaves and camels are the same
– Prayer is annulled by a dog, a donkey and a woman
– “Women are like cows, horses, and camels, for all are ridden,” is in fact recorded in Tafsir al-Qurtubi (see vol. 17, p. 172)
– If you relax the woman’s bridle a tiny bit, she will take you and bolt wildly. And if you lower her cheek-piece a hand span, she will pull you an arm’s length … Their deception is awesome and their wickedness is contagious; bad character and feeble mind are their predominant traits
– “[A man’s wife] fears him, while he fears her not, a kind word from him satisfies her, where nothing of hers has importance in his eyes, it is she who must tolerate the presence of concubines, and it is she who worries when he is ill whereas even her death would leave him indifferent
– If a man calls his wife to his bed and she refuses, and he spends the night angry with her, the angels curse her until morning
– Treat women well, for they are [like] domestic animals [awan] with you and do not possess anything for themselves. You have taken them only as a trust from God and you have made the enjoyment of their persons lawful by the word of God, so understand and listen to my words…
– Muhammad’s last words on women during his farewell speech:
– God allows you to put them in separate rooms and to beat them but not with severity. If they refrain from these things they have the right to their food and clothing with kindness. Lay injunctions on women kindly, for they are prisoners with you having no control of their persons. (Sirat Rasul Allah. Translated in English by A. Guillaume. First published by Oxford University Press, London in 1955)

it was the nation-building sentiment that was at fault, Infidel. at the time, i, too, was an advocate of nation-building. i can’t speak for anybody else, but the reason that i believed we could build an islamic “republic” was because i didn’t understand *ANYTHING* about islam, thinking that islam was just another religion. and of course, because i was (and am still) a born-again christian, i had no intention of converting to islam, and thus, noting that nobody “important” was warning of the dangers of islam, i felt that there was no need to check it out, especially since i had been unable to understand islam while reading the quran online after 9/11. in short, i was a hard-core leftist’s wet dream – an intellectually lazy fool too stupid to check the hard left’s proxy army for myself.
part of why i believed in nation-building was that i saw that it had worked in japan after WWII, and in india after the withdrawal of the british. in the former case, i had not known that the allies had forced religious changes in shinto after the war, and in the latter, i was unaware that in spite of the largely hindu nation adopting much of british thinking on freedom, socialism (also learned from the british) guided its government for decades. i believed that if U were nice to people, and helped them establish freedom and capitalism in their nations, they would respond in kind. it worked in japan and india, right?
my intellectual sloth had no excuse, but it is far worse when supposed experts in the government display it. these people have the duty of *knowing* about the things for which they are making policy. in my case, little was affected, as i had – and continue to have – zero influence on the government; the “experts,” OTOH, were criminally irresponsible for not knowing. if a highly-placed administrator is too stupid to assign at least one person to learn about the details of a situation for which he is responsible, then he is too stupid to deserve a paycheck from the taxpayers.
thus, i must agree with U; we should have handed off control to the northern alliance and left that s**thole nation. the only way that nation-building in the s**thole nations of the ummah would word would be if we militarily occupied *all* of them, outlawed islam, and continued the occupation for at least 500 years. there is *NO* scenario in which that would be acceptable to *any* free nation, so the next-best solution would be to isolate the ummah (with *some* limited contact allowed) and severely whack whichever s**thole allowed these monsters to attack us again.

I’ll confess that I supported both the Afghan and Iraq wars, believing that they’d be needed to crush islam in the region. However, the change in the focus to writing new constitutions for both Afghanistan and Iraq and indulging in nation-building quickly changed my mind. After the overthrow of Saddam, I discovered JihadWatch and started participating here, and I’d read countless columns by Hugh urging a complete withdrawal of our troops from Iraq and Afghanistan and let them devolve into a civil war, which would hopefully educate the rest of us about muslims. Ultimately, a civil war did happen in Syria, but then St Angela Merkel decided to throw the doors of Europe open to muslims from all over
I’m disappointed that Lloyd Austin has decided to stop the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan. It’ll just mean more money down that drain

Beneath the Veil of Consciousness says
The feminists are cowards. They only respect power and pick on those who
would defend them with their lives.
Islam is seen as too powerful a force
to be challenged as they are higher
(more powerful) on the victimhood
ladder. They, like their Islamic supremacist brothers, sacrifice and abandon their own in furtherance of their self-interests. Their is a strong correlation to be drawn between the way Islam ignores the muslims in China and how feminists ignore women in Islam.
Sylvia Drummond says
Beneath the Veil of Consciousness – What is it that you would have feminists to do for islamic women? Western women have had a hard fight of their own over the years against attitudes promoted by the Christian Church and enacted in law that were not unlike those of islam. Child marriage, dowries, the taking of a married woman’s money by her husband, the taking of her children if she left him, the impossibility of divorce or a vote. In the 1960s university places were hard to get for young women, they were not allowed into the Stock Exchange and jobs in accountancy and the law were made very difficult by men. . The fact is that islamic women, like everyone wanting their freedom, are going to have to fight for it. The modern western woman, holding a job, bringing up a family, paying their share of a mortgage, feels every sympathy with another woman living in desperate circumstances in a far country so again, what is it that you would have feminists do for islamic women?
saturnine says
Fighting for women’s rights implies a universal mission. If feminists aren’t willing to engage in the fight outside the West, they should only claim to be fighting for western women’s rights.
gravenimage says
Sylvia, I do think that it is important for good people to speak out against *all* these atrocities against women.
Sadly, there *are* a lot of feminists who give Islam a pass.
Walter Sieruk says
Sadly the tragic truth is that America has wasted $787,000,000 of American’s taxpayers money because Islamic is such a terrible misogynistic religion that no amount of money spend , with good intentions, will change of reform the heartless brutal misogyny of Islam , In Afghanistan or any other Islamic nation for that matter.
In Afghanistan, with Islam, women will never have equal rights with men.
It will only become worse for women after the Taliban regains in power in that country.
For example, on the morning of April 17, 2019 on FOX NEWS television the subject was covered about the idea of having “peace talks “with the Taliban. Viewing the history of the Taliban when they were in power in Afghanistan and the brutal ruthless misogyny they had engaged in was both vicious and malicious to the extreme.
Therefore the question, naturally, was brought up, now that peace talks” might soon begin, the Taliban was asked if they return to power in Afghanistan “ would they respect female rights ?”
To that question the Taliban replied “that when back in power they would respect.
Women‘s rights but only to the limits of the cultural of will they permit those rights of women.”
The point is that the “cultural of Afghanistan” is really the religion of Afghanistan, which is Islam.
Therefore the reality is that female rights, for both girls and woman, will not exist in a future Taliban controlled Islamic state of Afghanistan . For Islam is a religion of harsh and malice- filled misogyny.
As explained in the book, by Brigitte Gabriel, of the title THEY MUST BE STOPPED. Her book informs the readers on page 172. “Woman in Islam are considered unclean, deemed inferior even to dirt.”

Whenever I see those hideous tent thingos that quite a lot of Muslim women are forced to get around wearing as in the photo included in this report, I think, this is the 21st century and I cannot believe that any ideology can be so staggeringly primitive and backward that it thinks that people should get around dressed in such a way. Islam truly is like some sickeningly primitive left over from mankind’s far distant past, yet here it still is stinking up the 21st century. That any people should be living life in such a primitive way in the modern world is ridiculous and disgusting. The world’s feminists should spend almost all their time attacking islam, this vile and barbaric ideology, which says woman should get around wearing tents like the outfits shown in that photo.
