Biden’s handlers: forever projecting weakness on the international stage.
“US quietly ditches Greece’s EastMed pipeline project to ship Israeli gas to Europe,” by Ragip Soylu, Middle East Eye, January 11, 2022:
The US government silently abandoned an eastern Mediterranean pipeline project that would carry Israeli gas through Cyprus to Europe this week by submitting a non-paper to Athens explaining its reasons, Middle East Eye has learned.
The US non-paper, according to the Greek media, described the project as a “primary source of tension” and something “destabilising” the region by putting Turkey and regional countries at loggerheads.
A non-paper is an unofficial diplomatic correspondence.
A Greek diplomat, speaking anonymously to Middle East Eye, said the media reports were exaggerations.
Greek public broadcaster ERT claimed that the non-paper also listed three reasons to explain why the US no longer supports the project: environmental concerns, lack of economic and commercial viability, and creating tensions in the region.
The project angered Ankara in 2020 after Greece, Israel and the Greek Cypriot administration signed a deal to build a 1,900-km long natural gas pipeline in the eastern Mediterranean, passing through disputed maritime territories claimed by both Turkey and Greece.
The Trump administration and its secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, had been strong supporters of the project, as well as the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum that excludes Turkey, under the pretext that Europe needs to diversify its energy needs vis-a-vis Russia.
The US State Department, now under President Joe Biden, abruptly changed that policy on Sunday and said that Washington was shifting its focus to electricity interconnectors that can support both gas and renewable energy sources….

Biden isoipenly sabataguing Isreal. Where is our Congress??= Ken
mortimer says
Agree … ‘openly sabotaging Israel’. Despicable. They are sabotaging several countries that need this project, including the EU.
The Red-Green Axis of Evil is on full display in this counterproductive decision.

Some of the senators are trying to thwart the destruction biden and his henchmen/handlers are bringing everywhere, in every corner, but they don’t have the numbers to get the votes.
g.soros and “bo” are infamous for staging attacks, fomenting evil, oozing corruption….anything evil they can do, any trouble they can cause… we should just expect it. And so should people in other nations.
Esp if it’s something that will benefit islam’s spread and the terror that spreads along with it.
Wellington says
Just one more example of how Biden and his ilk are disasters to truth, justice, common sense and courage.
Biden is a piece of shit. So are his “handlers.” They are kind to the cruel and cruel to the kind.
I loathe Biden and his “handlers.” I have every right to. I also have zero respect for anyone who ACTUALLY voted for Biden—unless such fools have completely repented by now of their vote in the 2020 election.
gregbeetham says
What gets me is the Biden crew are associated with corrupt activities and the FBI has that laptop which is apparently incriminating but nothing seems to happen, what would have happened if that had been Trump’s laptop?
What’s wrong with the justice department? There are those protestors being held in hellish conditions in violation of human rights and not being charged with anything, just held prisoner for reasons unknown. Why isn’t somebody doing something to right that wrong when the law is so obviously being broken?
Wellington says
“What’s wrong with the justice department?”
Much.
Phil Copson says
“What’s wrong with the justice department?” The same that’s wrong everywhere, ie – “The Long March of the Left through the institutions.”
GreekEmpress says
It annoyed Ankara and the madman Erdogan.
Infidel says
So Biden doesn’t like the Keystone pipeline in the US that enriches Americans, or the East Med pipeline that enriches Israelis, but is fine w/ the Nordstream pipeline that enriches Russia
Isn’t it time to call back Robert S Mueller III to find out whether Biden is a stooge of Putin?
commonsense says
Good one, Infidel!
Infidel says
I’m not an advocate of hostility towards Moscow, but by the standard they set, the Dems should be impeached for everything that’s happening in Ukraine

Four of the Greek Americans in Congress are Democrat; two–one just elected this last year–are Republican.
Infidel says
True about Jews and Hindus as well. A lot of stupid minority groups who put their trust in the Dems not recognizing that the latter is now wholly owned by the ummah
gravenimage says
Yes–not uncvommon, unfortunately.
Infidel says
I can’t make out whether this move is to spite Greece or to spite Israel. Maybe both!
On the military front, Israel should start doing deals w/ Russia so that they get more support, especially vis a vis Turkey and Iran. On the economic front, Israel should open up big in Asia – particularly w/ Japan, Taiwan, India and Thailand, and be less dependent on the West. That’s the only way that the power of Western wokes on them can be reduced
Boycott Turkey says
It spites israel Greece and Cyprus his trying to appease Turkey also Russia would be happy to as the East Med pipe line would have been competing with Nordstream 2 also probably Ilhan Omar influenced his decision she’s a agent of Erdogan in my opinion
gravenimage says
Not that it ultimately much matters, but I think this is more to appease Turkey than to spite Greece and Israel. That doesn’t much improve matters…
Kenneth J Johnson says
If there are not enough members of Congress to stop Biden, God help us.

Infidel says
There ain’t. Not until January 20th next year

I wonder about those fiction books that have Russia placing a mole in the US that works dilligently for 40 years, and when he reaches a position of responsibility, l,ook out.
Biden was a pretty average Congressman for 40 years, but the last year hjas not been the least bit averge., KEN
Oren says
I am not clear if the project is dead because the Biden administration has declared its rescission of support. Hopefully that is not the case. Hopefully the Israelis, the Greeks, the Cypriots and the EU reject the Bidens attack on their neighborhood.
Overall, it seems like we are discarding the idea of allegiances, and instead embracing A might makes right situation. That is good for the Jews and the people of the west to acclimate themselves to from this horde of tyrants. Also, the turks and the eastern Mediterranean and the Russians, are not to hard to destabilize and provoke. The rest of the world is A large number of manipulatable places from the Israeli perspective. How strong is your union, democrats? Good for the goose, good for the gander.. In G-d I trust.
Infidel says
Yeah, it’s good for everyone if European countries and Israel ended their dependence on the US, and the US too stopped being so actively involved in Europe. In fact, given how dangerous the Indo-Pacific theater is, it’s past time for us to withdraw from NATO

It gives a 404 error. What were they arguing?

Huh–the link worked fine yesterday, Infidel. I wish I could give you a detailed analysis, but I am not an expert on this topic.

Biden’s handlers ditch Greece’s EastMed pipeline project in order to appease Turkey

Sickening kowtowing to Turkey–and who cares about our ally Greece?
Michael says
If Biden had to put up the refugees from Iraq and Syria, forced out by Erdogan’s damming of the Tigris and Euphrates, and the Afghans displaced by his own catastrophic bungling, he would back Greece.

Biden should back Greece because Turkey is the aggressor.

https://t.me/englishabuali/3227 Abuali Express reports that Israeli natural gas is being resoled to Lebanon Via Egypt. State dept. denies facilitating, but does not deny it is happening. Also someone had to waive US Embargo and that someone knows exactly who is selling what to whom.
Col. Bill says
A minor correction, the natural gas pipeline will transit via Jordan. Egypt facilitated the arrangements.
Johnny B says
From that point of view ANYTHING that goes against Turkey’s interests is a “destabilising factor”. It’s the same when it comes to Islam, where the order of the day, here in Europe at least, has become “Don’t say anything bad about Islam. As a matter of fact don’t even talk about Islam, it’s offensive to the poor, poor Muslims.” That’s pretty much how the various caliphates ensured peace and stability, just like any other brutal totalitarian regime in history throughout the ages.
Linde Barrera says
To Johnny B-I have 2nd and 3rd cousins who live in eastern and western Germany. They told me that most of the politicians in Germany said pretty much what your comment said about “the poor Muslims”. And when I told my cousins that the doctrines of Islam state to kill innocent people who do not want to convert to Islam, they said “It is not considered politically correct to say that in Germany.” ???
James Lincoln says
Linde,
Yes, “correct” is vastly different from “politically correct”.

Too true, Johnny and Linde.

it is importand to understand that the biden administration by renouncing support to the east med project they are recognising the illegal turkey-west libya memorandum of exclusive financial zone which illegaly includes the exclusive financial zone of greece and cyprous in a manner completely out of international maritime laws in an imnaginary turkish whole east mediteranean…
this imaginary exclusive financial zone that was declared a couple of years ago even includes greek islands and gives none of the greek islands any exclusive financial zone contrary to international maritime law which gives islands the same rights to exclusive financial zone as the mainland has… it is the maximalist insane claim of the new ottomaniac empire, or just one of the claims with which it blocks the east med project and conquers the whole of the east mediteranean if you see the maps disregarding greek islands and depriving of greece its legal exclusive financial zone that contains endless hydrocarbons….
the shame is all for the hellenic goverment that has done nothing in reaction to the turko-libyan memorandum in order to appease turkey and make sure there is not going to be a war… other than arming with new planes and making contracts three years later for frigattes…. it is a slow shameful incapable government that does anything it can to appease turkey and islam internally… like all his predecesors the primeminister is a rotten establishment puppet that cares not for the national interests but for his own political gain…
they believe up there in athens that they are going to avoid war with turkey by surrendering all of the underground wealth of the country that could save us from the deep economic crises… they are blatantly wrong as the turks have not removed their army from battle position for the last five years at least and will not stop hijacking our exclusive financial zone… next is going to be the islands of the agean being attacked when they choose is the right time for them…
gravenimage says
Yes–this is what I fear.

Wouldn’t the EastMed pipeline make energy-hungry Europe less dependent on supplies from Russia?
https://www.financialmirror.com/2020/05/12/eastmed-pipeline-will-change-europes-gas-landscape/
Infidel says
Different countries though. Russia supplies to Germany and via them, to Western Europe, while this pipeline would supply Greece, and maybe the Balkan countries
James Lincoln says
Thanks for the added info, Infidel.

The USA wants to sell natural gas (delivered by tanker.) That’s why it’s against these gas supply pipes to Russia and now Israel.
