Jihad in Russia: Suicide Bomber Kills at Least 37 on Train Near Chechnya

"A suicide bomber blew himself up inside a crowded commuter train in southern Russia today, killing at least 40 people in what President Vladimir V. Putin denounced as a terrorist act intended to disrupt parliamentary elections here this weekend." So says the New York Times.

"The explosion, which occurred at 7:42 a.m., wrenched apart the second carriage of the train only moments after it left the station in Yessentuki, near the foothills of the Caucasus, not far from Chechnya. . . .

"While there was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing, Sergei N. Ignatchenko, chief spokesman for the Federal Security Service, said in an interview that it bore all the characteristics of terrorist acts by Chechnya's separatist fighters. . . .

"Over the spring and summer Russia suffered a wave of terrorist attacks, many of them carried out by suicide bombers. The attacks — at a rock concert in Moscow, a bus stop and military hospital in Mozdok and government buildings in Chechnya — killed more than 250 people. . . .

"Officials have attributed the attacks — as well as the siege of a theater in Moscow last October that ended with the deaths of 129 hostages and 41 guerrillas — to Chechens aided by international Islamic extremists."

Here is their motivation: traditional jihad theology.

The Russians seem incapable of understanding why they should be backing the U.S. to the hilt. They, far more than we, face an internal threat from Islam. The United States has no claims on Russia; Islam and China are its only potential threats, and Islam, I submit, is far more sinister in its demographic penetration. It was folly to give away, in a Yeltsinian stupor, all of Central Asia; the U.S. and Russia must work to ensure, coute que coute, that any hint of Islamic political Islam (that is, Islam outside of the Five Pillars -- jihad, dhimmitude, the strict division of the world between dar al-Islam/dar al-Harb) must be kept at bay. If that requires alliances with unsavory local leaders, so be it. (In World War II we backed Soviet Russia to the hilt, in the fight against Hitler, and were right to do so.)

If those who make policy, in the Pentagon or elsewhere, have their wits about them, they will make sure that www.jihadwatch.org becomes daily fare. It has made itself indispensable, to anyone who realizes that there is a world-wide Jihad, that it existed, in posse, in recent decades as it has for 1350 years, and that what brought it to the point of explosion was not a change in doctrine, which remains immutable, but the oil wealth that made madrasas, mosques, and mujahidin worldwide all possible. The doctrine has not changed (though many persist in refusing to recognize it); only the wherewithal, and the self-evident failure of Islamic societies and peoples, which led to a fury, and a refusal to realize that Islam is not the solution, but the problem. That view will not die; it is necesary that a sufficient number of non-Muslims educate themselves as to Jihad and Dhimmitude -- how many is unclear, but at the moment there are not enough. Thank god for this website.
