Arab translators cheered 9/11

Although Jews and other non-Muslims have had difficulty getting government jobs as Arabic translators, it seems from a WND report today that at least some of the people they did hire may not have been fully loyal to the U.S.: "In a shocking revelation, an FBI whistleblower claims some Arab-Americans translating Arabic intercepts for the FBI spoke approvingly of the terrorist attacks on America more than two years ago.

"Former FBI translator Sibel D. Edmonds says translators of Middle Eastern origin working for the FBI's Washington field office maintain an 'us'-versus-'them' attitude that's so strong it may be compromising al-Qaida investigations.

"She cited examples of mistranslations and security breaches within the FBI's language division, where translators with Top Secret clearance interpret sensitive terror-related information for agents."

If this is true, it is not altogether surprising. After all, there is a strong sense in the Islamic world that a believer must not under any circumstances side with an unbeliever against another believer. While this, like any core belief, is not universal there, it is very likely responsible for the fragging attack of Sgt. Hasan Akbar, the American soldier who attacked his commanding officers last year in Kuwait, and for the British soldier who went AWOL rather than go to Iraq. (After all, the Qur'an says: "If a man kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, to abide therein (forever)" (Sura 4:93).)

Edmonds "made the explosive charges Monday in a letter to the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, an independent panel investigating the 9-11 attacks and U.S. intelligence leading up to them. WorldNetDaily has obtained a copy of the 9-page letter.

"Edmonds, a translator who worked closely with FBI counterterrorism and counterintelligence agents at an office within blocks of the Washington field office, said she overheard some translators express sympathy for the 9-11 terrorist attacks. 'During my work with the bureau, I was seriously taken aback by what I heard and witnessed within the translation department,' she said. 'There were those who openly divided the fronts as "Us" – the Middle-Easterners who shared certain views – and "Them" – the Americans who were the outsiders [whose] arrogance was now "leading to their own destruction."'

"Not long after the attacks, Edmonds said one translator said: 'It is about time that they get a taste of what they have been giving to the rest of the Middle East.'

"She says the remark was made in front of the unit supervisor, also of Middle Eastern origin. 'These comments were neither rare nor made in a whisper,' Edmonds said. 'They were open and loud.'

"She says such attitudes call into question 'the integrity and accuracy' of information Arabic translators are feeding agents."

Indeed: "She says she caught a Turkish translator intentionally blocking intelligence from being translated by labeling it as 'not pertinent.' The translator also intentionally mistranslated documents and other information, she says. And she alleges the same linguist, Melek Can Dickerson, was granted security clearance by the FBI despite ties to targets of FBI investigations.

"After she brought the alleged breaches to the attention of her supervisors, Edmonds was fired by the FBI. Her termination letter does not state a reason.

"Edmonds filed a lawsuit, but Attorney General John Ashcroft and FBI Director Robert Mueller got a federal judge to block it by asserting the extremely rare claim of 'State Secret Privilege.'"

With all the Israelis/Jews and other non-Muslims there are who can speak Arabic, it shocks me that the FBI would make use of these people who are putting the security of the U.S. in danger!

"Political correctness" is one of the most potent weapons the enemy has.

I heard not long ago that soon after the need arose for large numbers of translators and interpretors, many Sephardic Jews, loyal American citizens, offered to help (Sephardic Jews are those who migrated across North Africa instead of across Europe), but they were turned down by the FBI because of PC.

What are we to do? The course our "protectors" are taking is suicidal.

Would not Maronites and Copts, along with Arabic-speaking Jews, provide a pool of potential translators? French Intelligence has found Berbers (Kabyles) most trustworthy, particularly those who detest the forced arabization of Berber culture (and in France it is among the Berbers that one finds the highest level of lapsed or ex-Muslims). Of course they would have toa be carefully vetted; those Copts, for example, who had relatives subject to pressure from the Muslim government of Egypt, or those Maronites who, like Elie Hobeika, ended up working for Syria, would have to be carefully filtered out; the problem of dhimitude does not end once someone arrives on these shores. Many, but not all, Christians among the Palestinian Arabs in the U.S., as in Israel, promote the Islamic geopoligical agenda -- i.e. the Jihad against Israel, either for reasons of putative self-preservation,i.e. internalized dhimmitude, learned in an Islamic environment, or because some appear to believe that their "Arab" identity makes them, willy-nilly, defenders and promoters of Islam, as if they cannot quite bring themselves, as self-defined "Arabs," to reject Islam altogether (just as celebrated "secularists" such as Nasser and Saddam Hussein in the end reverted to Islalmic rhetoric and Islamic beliefs). But there ought to be enough translators among Maronites, Copts, Berbers, and Arabic-speaking Jews, so that the absurd and suicidal reliance on Muslim interpreters and translators (as far as one knows, the U.S. government is far from possessing an infallible taqiyya or kitman-detecting machine, and "war is deception," as Muhammad says in one hadith, is taken to heart by Muslims including most of the "moderates" now busily misinforming millions of unwary Infidels. The U.S. government really has to grow up, and if this means wholesale replacement of naive or trusting personnel with other Americans, far more inured to the deceptions that are second nature to Jihadis, and indifferent to offending Muslm sensibilities in order to protect what is, after all, our non-Muslim polity, so be it.

President Bush is a devout Christian, and as such, projects onto Islam attitudes which he derives from his own somewhat more congenial religious experience. In his faulty view, the "real" Islam espouses the principle of "Do unto others that which you would have them do unto you," and uses persuasion, not force, to gain adherents.

Islam is using clever stealth tactic by disguising itself as a religion and its war manual as a sacred text. By this means, it gains a certain "untouchability" by the West. For Bush and the rest of us to fall for that ploy is foolish. Little Red Riding Hood didn't fare well by failing to see the danger under the disguise, and neither will civilization.

Bush must somehow "get real," take off his rose-colored glasses, and deal with Islam for what it really is, a movement no less bent on conquest by any and all means than Fascism or Communism were. He must confront it in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief, not as a religious comrade who is disappointed with the "hijacking" of a "religion" by bad people.

It is not sufficient to control dangerous administrative areas, such as Iraq, that have Muslim populations. The very nature of Islam must change; its fundamentally flawed ethics and epistemology serve Muslims very poorly any time, but especially now, in the 21st century.

Islam, in its present form, has no future. Unfortunately, it is dragging millions of otherwise happy, productive, intelligent people along with it into the abyss.
