US wants major Islamic charity group to be branded terrorist

Several Islamic charities in the U.S. have already been closed for terrorist links. Charities collect obligatory zakat donations from Muslims, which are then distributed to radical groups -- apparently unbeknownst to many of the donors. Now the Saudis, anxious to improve their anti-terror credentials, have joined the U.S. to go after another. This from the Hindustan Times, with thanks to Jean-Luc.

The United States and Saudi Arabia have jointly appealed the United Nations to declare a major charity group, Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation's branches in Pakistan, Kenya, Tanzania and Indonesia as terrorist organisations.

US Treasury Secretary John W. Snow, top State Deprtment officials including Counterterrorism Coordinator Cofer Black, and Adel Jubeir, Chief Foreign Policy Adviser to Crown Prince Abdullah held a joint press conference yesterday at the US Treasury to make the appeal to UN.

US Officials said these four countries have resisted action, though it has been tarred as terrorist in both in the US and Saudi Arabia for some time, "in part out of fear of appearing to do the bidding of the United States."'

"We are working closely with our Saudi friends. I have personally seen great improvement in the cooperation," Black said.

Al-Haramain figured prominently in the indictment earlier this month of Sami Omar Hussayen, a University of Idaho doctoral student in computer science, on charges of conspiracy to promote material support to terrorists. It raises millions of dollars for its charities every year. The charge is that though it has genuine charities, Al-Haaramain also funds terrorism.

Saudi Ambassador to the US Prince Bandar bin Sultan said in a statement that terrorist financiers are now targets of a US-Saudi task force that is pursuing money laundering through charities and other front groups.

This message for Terise:
God bless you Terise,i just wish there were more like you out there.
Saudi Arabia is our number one ennemy, regardless of what they say.
They are the ones that are financing terrorism across the world,in the hope of bringing the whole planet under the islamic flag, one day in the future.
Most terrorists are saudi citizens,a result of the islamic teachings in that country, theachings that not only they don`t want to give up,but they are pushing it throughout the western world by building mosques and staffing them with fanatic imams.
Wake up America!

Why only four countries? They are all over the world...this is a tiny bandaid on a gaping wound.

Yes, it is a gaping wound crying out for major surgery. But the patient is thrashing around and a bandaid is the best we can do at the moment.

Response: Greetings to all. I agree with the opinions made in the previous posts regarding the Saudis. I have a few Muslim friends that I've had several conversations with regarding the arrogant behavior that many (not all), but many of the Somalian population in Columbus, Ohio demonstrates which, not only continues to irritate the white population, but has created heavy friction with the African-American residents as well. One African-American gentleman stated in a Columbus publication, that the Somalis "seem to have the attitude that they are superior to African-Americans."

I've spent many years working in the Professional Wrestling and Healthcare industries. I've worked with decent, hard working people from many different cultures. Through these experiences, I've written several columns in local newspapers in Franklin and Licking Counties (Ohio), and had even been engaged in an altercation with a few of our illustrious friends at C.A.I.R. One of my Muslim friends told me that it isn't customary in Somalia for them to be so arrogant, and the reason they behave this way here is because of Saudi influence, which from what my pal tells me, is instilled in them before their arrival in the United States.

According to another Muslim friend of mine, who is African born just like the Somalis, they treat him with disrespect as well, because he isn't Somalian, as he stated that Somalis are giving "Muslims a bad name, because most of them act like idiots."

If anyone remembers, when Vice President Cheney visited Saudi Arabia, our V.P., who has a well documented heart condition had to repeatedly bend forward to shake hands with the Saudi leaders, because they didn't have enough respect to put their drinks down and get off of their fat asses to greet him with proper etiquette.

During the horrible events of 9/11/01, one of the Saudi Princes, (I'm not sure of his name, I just remember thinking that he had a strong resemblance to Saturday Night Live's "Father Guido Sarducci"), presented a huge amount of money (10 Million Dollars comes to mind) to the City of New York. In the process of this donation, he made the remark that the United States should reconsider their foreign policy with regard to the Middle East. From what I understand, Mayor Rudy Giuliani respectfully declined the donation.

Despite the whining of being targeted and discriminated against that we hear from C.A.I.R. and other Muslim activists, our Government is closing in on the terrorist sponsoring organizations inside the U.S. and abroad. Screaming about violations of civil rights through this process should remind them of one thing, that they are in America, which allows them to piss and moan about such issues without having their tongues cut out (or worse), like they could be in some of the nations they appear to love so much.

Freedom of speech in America is only one of many liberties that American soldiers have fought, and even died for. With that being said, immigrants need to realize this and respect it, instead of bringing their sorry asses over here from third world countries, crying about the way our Government goes about protecting us. If you don't like it, then go back to the "paradise" you came from. What? You can't? There's nothing there for you? You'll be in danger? Then shut the hell up and live your new life that Americans have afforded you.....

They, and the far left need to open their eyes and look at a bigger picture. Civil rights are very difficult to exercise when we're dead, which is exactly where the terrorist networks want to see us. This is not an issue of discrimination, this is an issue of our survival in a free society.

May God Bless Us All,

The more of these "charities" we can close down and they should be closed permanently, the better off the U.S. be.There is nothing peaceful about islam and if all of us "infidels" do not convert then we are to be killed. That is what is in parts of the quran. The comment made that this is a band aid on a gaping wound is very true. But this is not like an enemy this country has faced before. Radical muslims have been brain washed that the West, especially the United States is islam's biggest threat to their plan of world domination and whatever means need to be used is acceptable and tolerated. We do not see other radical religous groups strapping bombs to their body and PURPOSELY targeting men, women and children to get into paradise. These people are sick and dangerous. They have no regard for life, liberty and freedom. That is why they hate us so much, freedom and liberty. However, we need to take out these radical muslims now and use whatever means we must use. I am not shy about spreading the word and I will take the occasional
nasty, verbal abuse to wake this country up!

Saudi arrogance. As they hold oil assets, they believe they should rule the world. (The guy with all the gold should make the rules.) Because of this belief, they have proceeded on a long-term project of creating their empire through gile, propaganda, and their terror-client employees. These people are in the royal and family and in the monied elite class and are showing us how they will behave to the rest of us peasants if they ever get into power. A true oligarchy of power that will make Stalin look like a Sunday school teacher.
