How extensive are those sleeper cells? This from The Herald, with thanks to Mohamed Ibn Guadi:
Islamic terror commandos are being infiltrated into the US in preparation for "an American jihad" from within, according to intelligence sources.Dozens of radicals trained in camps in western Pakistan and Kashmir are already believed to have slipped into the country and been absorbed in sleeper cells in unsuspecting Muslim communities as the vanguard of a holy army estimated to be several hundred strong.
An FBI spokesman said al Qaeda and allied organisations were thought to be operating in 40 American states, awaiting orders for terror attacks.

Since we now know this.....perhaps it's time for a rousting of the Muslim communities in the United States. Like I said in another post...Forget their civil rights...because some of them have been, and continue to violate ours.....Remember, when we were younger? When someone in class would do something wrong and the teacher couldn't find out who it was that did it? So the whole class was punished. Same theory here...guilt by association.
Forget political correctness....for this is an issue of National Security....not politics. Seek and destroy these pukes.
Sounds like the Jihadists want to find out what true American Justice is really all about. Hey, Radicals.....I have a friend named Winchester that would love to meet you. I know people, who know people, who know other people that are in the same frame of mind.
I went to the Pro Gun Show this past weekend, and I wish these radical, bigotted, immoral, unscrupulous terror/murderers could have seen all of us there......They have no idea what they're in for....do they?

Posted by: D.C. Watson at February 11, 2004 1:19 PMThe sleepers are expendible, DC. But their terror masters are state-supported. If we make it clear that any links to terrorists found after an attack will cause retaliation against the countries fostering the terrorists, we may affect their decisions. The mullahs in Iran don't want to be brought down.
Cause, effect.
Posted by: basil at February 11, 2004 1:52 PMTwo things make me feel a bit safer through all of these threats. Bush is our president and for now Ohio has really nice gun laws.
Posted by: bartb at February 11, 2004 1:54 PMThanks Bart.......And to Basil, I know you're right about the state sponsors.....but the sleepers are so close......and stupid enough to follow the commands of these lunatics.
I just wish they'd remove themselves from the U.S., but since it doesn't look like that's gonna happen, they'll have to be dispatched....I think the Saudis and the Iranians are the wolves in sheep's clothing here......The Saudis pretend to be our friends, and the Iranians pretend that they have nothing to do with anything....although the recent terrorist summit in Tehran didn't do much for their credibility on that issue.
Libya wised up......Khadafi admitted our actions in Iraq frightened him......So this is working.....but like I said...the Saudis are sponsoring the radicalism in the Mosques right in our own yard....They're not our friends....neither is Iran....but at least they don't pretend to be like the Saudis do.
I guess I'm just ready for a good donnybrook with these bigots. We've been threatened for long enough.....and it's getting old. If they want to bring this to our streets, I know some neighborhoods they don't want to go into trollin' for trouble.

The really big problem is that the Muslim community in America absolutely refuses to cooperate with the authorities (principally the FBI) in exposing the Jihadists and their supporters. They will do nothing against their Muslim "brothers". As long as this is the case, there is little chance of uncovering the "sleepers" before it is too late.
Posted by: Realist at February 11, 2004 3:00 PMhmmmm... I say..Bring it.

Lets get it on!!!!

And to Realist......You're right....
Muslims won't turn their brothers in.....even though their "brothers" would cut even their throats.......but this is our land, not theirs.....this is our home.....not theirs. They try to use our constitution against us.....they try to disrespect us....in our very own yard...
They need a harsh lesson in respect and more importantly, they need a lesson as to what century we're in. Some buckshot in their ass might wake them up.....

Posted by: D.C. Watson at February 11, 2004 3:12 PMI just don`t understand how these muslim terrorists could have sneaked into the US?!
Aren`t we aware that our national security is in danger here?!
And to root them out ,i think we should do the following:
give the muslim communities throughoutAmerica an ultimatum:either you give us the names of the sleepers within 24 hours,or you all go back home, and stay there.
Also give all muslim countries,or rather their governments an ultimatum:you will be held responsible for any of your citizens attacking us,and you will pay for it,dearly, and promptly.
I do believe this should do it.
Adela, you are being far too generous...I say give them 24 seconds, not hours to give up the sleepers......or onto the big, leaky boat they go....
Someone forgot to tell them that they are visitors here, and should behave accordingly.

Posted by: D.C. Watson at February 11, 2004 4:11 PMAnyone with a dollar or two can bribe the corrupt Mexican officials and get across the Mexican border. Even though one of the people who participated in the first bombing of the World Trade Tower was given amnesty CITIZENSHIP as a "farm worker" no one has done anything serious about the immigration sieve.
Unfortunately, my husband Jim (oops I mean Zeus) and I have concluded that there will have to be another major attack inside America before the people will rebel en masse and force the government to close the borders.
We can get rid of most Mexican illegals by taxing money transfers to Mexico at a prohibitive rate. If they can't send their money back home, they won't come here to work and the U.S. treasury will get some money for all the social services we have provided in the past.
I only WISH that the US government would get on the ball and clean house. BEFORE something even more awful happens. But I am afraid that they will wait until the fit hits the shan before they will act.
Meanwhile, how many Americans will have to die first?
Posted by: Ed2010 at February 11, 2004 4:39 PMUnfortunately, it is true that inertia has set in once again. We will not take preemptive action to protect ourselves against Muslim immigrants until another attack takes place. It is an election year, and no one wants to start the ACLU screaming about "civil rights". Unfortunately, we will pay a price in blood for such foolish pandering.
As for how they arrive here, passports and visas are on sale in many countries around the world, including our neighbor to the south, Mexico.
Posted by: basil at February 11, 2004 5:38 PMJust who do you think will stop them, or, for that matter, allow the American people to stop them? Bush? Kerry? Turn out the lights, Americans, the party's over.

Posted by: Doug at February 11, 2004 9:20 PMGun ownership does little to prevent suicide terrorist attacks. Owning one doesn't make you more powerful, more patriotic, or any of the nonsense expoused here. I've got nothing against them. Enjoyed time at gun ranges in the past. But don't confuse it with substantial terrorist deterrence.
Living here in DC, deterrence means regular sweeps for radioactive material coming into the area and biological testing in the mail and metro systems.
Actually, if you want to seriously reduce the effects of terrorism, start fighting for some more funding for transportation systems in large urban areas (the evacuation options here in the District or dismal) and emergency response training and funding.
Posted by: john at February 11, 2004 11:31 PMI'm aware that having a gun is certainly not a cure-all for terrorism. However, nonsense most likely isn't an completely fair terminology for what I've posted.
The problem is that terrorists have infested us....they're not on the way...they're here, most carrying names so similar that it's difficult to distinguish them. Muslim "charitable organizations" are asking for donations on a continual basis, then sending the money over to the sand for the terror netwroks. If we don't kill this off, it's eventually going to hit our streets. If you read Dr. Pipes' 11-12-2001 article titled "We're going to conquer America", it may give a broader perspective of the radicals, their agenda to overthrow our Government and replace it with Islamic rule.
The terror networks are being suffocated by our soldiers and our intel. They're having recruiting problems, and having trouble mounting an offensive here, which is the purpose of those of them living among us.
Without major arsenal at their disposal, the Jihadists may have to resort to kidnapping, hostage taking, or violence in the street. If indeed this happens, hollering "trick or treat" at them won't work. So I'll be relieved to look down and realize that I have my 12 gauge with me.

Posted by: D.C. Watson at February 12, 2004 8:48 AMSorry John, but I have to disagree with you on the gun ownership issue. Does it stop all terroist attacks? Absolutely not. The only thing that could possibly stop them is a totalitarian society, which, ironically, is just what the islamists are seeking, under the rubric of sharia.
However, I tend to doubt very seriously that the sort of gun battles experienced in an area such as Kashmir would ever take place here, as even the islamists have to realize that pretty much everybody has a gun, and that most people have no problem in using a gun to protect their families and themselves.
Again, in a free society there is no foolproof way to stop a committed islamist from attacking. But having the means to defend one's self has to give pause to those looking to commit anything other than a massive suicide attack. As to stopping those sorts of attacks, that is an issue that needs to be dealt with at the federal immigration policy level.
Posted by: Doug at February 12, 2004 9:02 AMI appreciate the basic patriotism seen here, being a vet, but what is not known, is the hidden reasons in this issue, and hidden enemies.
The ACLU engraciated itself firmly before exposing its true agenda, that being distroying the Constitution, and Moral strengths here at the level the Muslim countries know so well, children programming in schools. Strike one on guilt by association for the ACLU. The other is the impact on the Muslim world by their Media there, as they are not noted for truth, rather propaganda, and a retaliation on American muslims would sway all who are thinkers over to the crazies mentality. In other words , before you act, think.
Personally I find it strange, these tiny little despot countries holding the world hostage, over a commodity, easily in this age dispenced with through technology, perhaps greed by our own? , because developing this would alter the tax base.
A good agenda would weed out our own social terrosists first, and spread outward.
Personally, I just cannot trust any person who espouses Islam. They either are ignorant, blind to, or lying about what is actually there, and thus they are all time bombs waiting to be set off by some sermon at some mosque.
To me, the only real answer is for someone, be it Bush, Kerry, Blair or even Chirac, but the best might be NATO, to issue a warning to ALL Islamic states that "an attack on us will bring extraordinary destruction onto you, somewhere, in some form." The Saudis are our enemies.
Posted by: Budd at February 12, 2004 9:33 AMAt this appointed time gun ownership is not really going to help stop a terrorist attack. But sooner or later the radical islamists are going to start their steady stream of suicide bombers in the US. This is the real terrorist threat that I really fear because if there is anything that the US people do not like it is an inability to stop a problem. We citizens of the US tend to have little patience for anything. The only way that I can see to stop suicide bombers is by the American people carry weapons and defending themselves.

9/11/01 proved many things. One of them being that these radical thugs will resort to anything. There have been intelligence reports that show preachings in Mosques to kill Americans, which included walking up and stabbing them on the street.
If an Islamic fanatic makes an attempt like that in my presence, they will soon be headed into the next life.

Posted by: D.C. Watson at February 12, 2004 1:08 PMThere is one solution so simple no country will allow it in the west, and it is the only one, the civilized world needs above all, "give to them according to their standards".
It is biblical, check it our for yourself, and is why they, the radicals leer down their noses at christianity, as Christians don't understand the basic rules, and have glossed over many things required by our faith, as well as what is right.
David was a "Man of Blood" , check what that means as well while you are at it.
No, to lie down with dogs , and you share the fleas, in our case, any who side with those who are avowed to kill a Christain as part of their faith, are in the bed with them sharing those fleas, BUT, BUT, better make sure, of which ones you are against, as some do subscribe to the old faith of Islam, not at all like what you are familiar with, and are our allies, and hope, Someone, anyone, will give to them according to their own odeous standards".
Amply give it to them totally , once and for all time, to rid the world of those who would distroy humanity, if given the chance, as they are too far gone to redeam, and must be eradicated for the good of the human race or they will find a way to do it to us.
Gets kinda complicated don't it?. As we are commanded not to harm the innocents !!!
We.....yes......unfortunately, Islamic fundementalists, extremists, terrorists.....take your pick, don't follow those guidelines......I know some Muslims personally, who simply live life with everyone else. They drink, smoke, shoot pool......I don;t mean them....I mean the ones that want to kill us......they need to be removed from the rest of us....by whatever force is necessary and available.

As Christians, we are to resist that which is evil. The cult of Islam and its followers is evil. One of its purposes is to destroy us. "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." James 4,7. Resistence is not passive. Resistence is not to ignore and hope it goes away. Resistence is not to turn and run and hope the enemy does not chase you. We are to do battle with the Evil one, Islam. Islam is a cult of death and destruction. It is the spawn of the devil.

Posted by: D.C. Watson at February 12, 2004 2:22 PMI have often wondered if it is alright to have war even if I am a Christian. I have since decided that it is only alright if it is justified and we don't glorify in our victories. War is only necessary if it will stop greater more evil. An example would be us finally stopping the WWII concentration camps. Another example would be the US stopping Saddams murdurous reign. Here is a great Q&A from Billy Graham.
I have a friend who says Jesus would never have wanted His followers to go to war, no matter what the situation. But I'm not sure I agree with that, especially if we were trying to stop someone evil like Hitler. Do you have an opinion? -- D.W.
Dear D.W.:
I'm sure your friend is sincere, and I respect him for his concern for peace. But evil is a reality, and my own view is that sometimes we must fight evil openly -- even if it means war.
That doesn't mean war is good, or that we should glorify it or engage in it without considering its horror and death. The Psalmist mourned because so many people around him wanted war instead of peace: "Too long have I lived among those who hate peace. I am a man of peace; but when I speak, they are for war" (Psalm 120:6-7).
But sometimes war is necessary because if nothing is done, evil people will only take advantage of the situation and do even greater evil. Nations and individuals have a right to defend themselves, and the Bible sees both police and soldiers as a necessary part of our fallen world. John (who announced Jesus' coming) didn't tell soldiers to abandon their jobs, but to be honest (see Luke 3:14).
Pray for our leaders (and the leaders of all nations), that God will guide them as they make momentous decisions. Pray also for those who serve in our military -- particularly during these difficult and dangerous days. Most of all, pray that Christ will come again soon. When He does, "Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore" (Micah 4:3).
After reading my last post it appears that you can use your Winchester to protect yourself DC because you are recieving death threats. And the Christian faith does not outlaw self defense.

Posted by: ted at February 12, 2004 4:09 PMSounds like another in a long list of good reasons to shut our borders down.....We can still do our free trade without inviting every foreigner known to man here. We don't need them.
To sum all this up in a nut shell.....
People for the most part have a short memory. This country is not some weak, cowering dog with no teeth. We have a long history of spilling blood, even our own. Though we seem to be caught in the whirlpool of political correctness, and “lets not offend anyone” eventually we will be spit out the other side.
As tragic as it was, 9/11 was a small affair as far as spilt blood for this country. I still believe in this country. It’s still full of patriots, men who will defend her to the death. They will do what is best for them and the ones they love at all costs. They will do what is most important to them regardless of what some peace loving tree hugger in Northern California thinks. I am not talking about protecting cars and houses. I'm talking about the important things, like children, wives, family, and above all our Freedom and way of life. We know we have the right to attend church or not attend church. We have a right to grow corn or wheat or let our land sit while we watch NFL football. To watch family oriented Television with our kids or porno when nobody is home, or to eat chicken or a fat piece of warm ham.
When a terrorist or Islamonazi attacks Middle America I.E. Not New York or Los Angeles. When they start blowing up malls full of Christmas shoppers in Birmingham Alabama, Then there will be hell to pay. That's when you will see Joe Shmuckatelli dealing death wholesale at the local mosque. We have a weird way of lumping all the apples good and bad into one basket and saying they all smell bad so lets toss ‘em.
This is not the Middle East. We see them and they stand out, and for the most part we already throw the suspicious eye at them when we pass them in airports and in malls. Whether they come to terms with it or not they are a minority here, and Americans in general loves to hate the bad guy. I think it would be best if they keep the blowing sh:t up to places that the United States will not take personally. I believe their lack of understanding of our history and their complete underestimation of Americans as a whole will not serve them well in the end.
Now that.....was the best post on this issue.....props Wild Hare
From D.C. Watson.....very well written.
That is what will do it - a incident that can be traced back to perpetrators supported by US moderate Muslims, where we can legally and publicly brand CAIR as a terrorist organization.

Posted by: Jay Stevens at February 13, 2004 12:56 AMGuys, guys, guys!
The war is, as most of you point out, a real war. But the opponents are NOT "Christianity" (or any other religion) vs. Islam, they are REASON vs. Islam. If we forget that, WE are the losers, whether We overpower Them or They overpower Us.
Re: the gun issue. True, the fact that you have a gun in your home and know how to use it will not prevent another attack--but then, neither will the fact that we have the Homeland Security Act and possess advanced weapons systems.
"Prevention of attacks" is not the issue where gun ownership is involved. The issue is that when someone threatens you and enters your property to carry out the threat, you can protect your own, private world--your home and your family--with your gun.
As an aside, I would like to point out that there is something called "the ethics of emergencies." It calls for a change in behavior in the event of an emergency. It happens in medicine all the time. During normal conditions, the patient in greatest danger gets access to all the resources required to maximize his chances for survival--he gets treated the fastest, with all the personnel, medication, and machines that are available. In case of emergency, however, everything changes. Imagine a mass casualty situation, where there are more patients than there are resources available to treat them all. Instead of those with the least chance of survival, the resources are dedicated to those with the greatest chance of survival. The Titanic disaster was a demonstration of "emergency ethics" also; there were fewer resources (lifeboats) than there were people in need, so many were refused the use of the resources in order to give the greatest chance of survival to those who could safely use the lifeboats.
I'd like to inject a comment about the attitudes displayed here (has any of us ever seen a more vigorous response to any of Robert's postings?): I am delighted to see people beginning to take the threat seriously and in greater numbers.
Self-defense is a morally appropriate action. In order to do the best job, however, we must keep our thinking very clear. We should not waste valuable resources in this emergency--and I truly believe it to be an emergency--with a scattered, emotion-only based response.
Instead, for starters, why don't we begin a vigrous campaign of activities like:
1) writing letters to our congressmen about important issues such as controlling our borders, checking the cargo of all flights, increasing security at our ports, etc. (it appears that a few of them are beginning to listen);
2) following the example of another person who recently stated that he had written to CAIR, basically letting them know that Islam has "awakened the Sleeping Giant" (remember that anxious statement made by a senior Japanese military officer after the attack on Pearl Harbor?), and while our "learning curve" is impeded by PC, we are learning, nontheless;
3) Refer all our friends and associates to Robert's site and books, as well as to many other useful sources.
The reason that this is a good and effective start is that it takes the support of only 10% to 30% of a population to achieve a "critical mass" and get a "movement" going. The American Revolution was accomplished with the support of only 30% of the population. I think at least 50% of the American population wants to eliminate the threat that faces us, and with a few activities such as those described above, that support could be garnered. I believe that all our friends and neighbors need in order to join us in a more active approach to the problem is to know that they will not be alone.
Please start by joining me in a letter-writing campaign to CAIR. Please keep it professional, dignified, short, and clear. Let them know, quietly but firmly, that we are on to them.
Thank you, and good luck to us all.

Cubed is right. However, as well as writing to CAIR, add others to the list. Incumbent and aspiring politicians - national, state and local. Write to the various social and religious organizations about your concerns. Keep your letters short and to the point as long missives probably won't be read.
Our letters will not be considered if we use the wild rhetoric which we among ourselves. Remember that our fellow Americans are blinded by our ideals, especially that, in this case, of fairness. Our case will be lost if we sound bigoted and hateful.
Whenever possible, chat up your friends, neighbors and colleagues. Prepare yourself in advance with facts and literature. As this is the end of the election cycle, going will be a little tough.
Good luck to us all.
Athena: As a Mexican I want to advise you: don't rock the boat. If mexicans in the US can not send their money here, then there will be another 25 million people suffering hunger, which means...millions more to enter the USA. See, Athena, the US can not afford NOT to help Mexico out. It's us together for history, like it or not. And thank God that you have us as neighbors. The Russians have the Muslims as neighbors, ask them about it. And...Mexicans are human beings, with lots of virtues and some vices, like most of the same genus (Sapiens Sapiens), so don't be so harsh on us. :) Believe me, I can think right of the top of my head about more than a hundred countries that you wouldn't want to have as neighbors if you could choose Mexicans instead. how about it? :P Some tacos? enchiladas? guacamole? how about a Corona? hahahaha....
