Five New York men have been convicted of trafficking in untaxed cigarettes in order to get money for jihad. From AP, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm.
Five men were convicted of federal charges for their role in a multi-state ring trafficking in untaxed cigarettes. U.S. Attorney Michael Battle says the men were found guilty Wednesday after a three-and-a-half week trial before Chief District Judge Richard Arcara in Buffalo and five days of jury deliberations.Convicted were 54-year-old Mohamed Abuhamra of Lackawanna; 27-year-old Aref Ahmed of Niagara Falls; 52-year-old Rmzy Abdullah of Buffalo; 31-year-old Nagib Aziz of Cheektowaga; and 36-year-old Azzeaz Saleh of Dearborn, Michigan. They were found guilty of money laundering and trafficking in untaxed cigarettes.
They could face a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, a fine of at least $500,000 or both. The men were accused in a massive scheme that used an Indian reservation smoke shop to put millions of dollars of untaxed cigarettes for sale on the black market in Michigan and New York.
Prosecutors say Ahmed provided about $14,000 to five of the so-called Lackawanna Six so they could travel to Afghanistan and train at an al-Qaeda terrorist training camp.

Posted by: Wild Hare at March 4, 2004 12:39 PMThey want to die, so they say......so maybe we should keep them alive, in captivity. Why give them their wish? The only reason not to is the costs all of the tax payers will have to absorb in keeping him fed and sheltered.
I think we should use the monies in the frozen bank accounts of these "Muslim charitible organizations" to keep convicted terrorists and jihadists maintained, not our tax dollars.

To keep these monster alive,to feed them ,to provide them with an education while incarcerated,cable tv,muslim diet,muslim chapelains,etc and to give them the opportunity to spread their venom into our prison system.....that is a ridiculous idea.
Adela, you know that you have my respect. I guess my vision of prison for this lousy bastard is a bit different from most people's.
I picture a wet, cold, dark 5'x6'cell, no tv, no chaplain, no books, water dripping on top of his head a drip at a time 24-7 no matter where he sits, and complete isolation from anyone else. A peephole to look out into the sky to see what a free world looks like without him in it.
40 years of that would be a torture worse than death for someone who wants to die for his cause anyway. Wishful thinking on my part I guess.

But such a prison cell does not exist in our beautiful,civilized,political correct country.
If it existed,our beloved ACLU along with the liberal left,would make all hell break lose.
I know...like I said, wishful thinking on my part I guess....These terrorists that are convicted should also get a taste of 30 years hard labor, or 30 years working on a chain gang.
Solo of course, seperate from others, so that they can't spread their poisonous venom into the minds of some of the less intelligent prison population.
