Purported Qaeda Letter Says U.S. Strike Near Ready

More threats. I hope they turn out like the ones from last November, but it would be unwise to dismiss them out of hand. From Reuters, with thanks to DC Watson:

A letter purporting to come from Osama bin Laden's militant Islamist al Qaeda network said a big attack on the United States was in the final stages of preparation, a London-based Arabic newspaper said on Thursday.

"We bring the good news to Muslims of the world that the expected 'Winds of Black Death' strike against America is now in its final stage...90 percent (ready) and God willing near," the letter said.

The letter, signed by the Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades which said it is part of al Qaeda, was sent to the London-based al-Quds al-Arabi newspaper. A copy of the letter was faxed to Reuters in Dubai.

It was not possible to independently authenticate the letter.

I can identify three groups of Muslims.
a) terrorists who commit terrorist acts in the name of jihad.
b) terrorist supporters who don't commit violence, but fund, support, and voice support of jihadis
c) others. The largest group, these people do not encourage the jihadis (so they say). They also do not resist the jihadis, do not provide information to authorities, do not remove radical imams from their mosques, do not attempt to prevent their religion from being controlled by madmen and murderers. They are silent for fear of being labeled "un-Islamic".

Because the third group will not clean up the mess in their religion, outsiders will have to do it. In World War II japanese-americans often joined the military to prove their loyalty to America. Todays' Muslims won't even speak out against the enemy. Their silence will cost them the right to determine the future of their religion. Non-muslims will fight, and win, this war without them. It seems Islam means never having to take responsibility.

I have no doubt that another attack is coming. Anyone who believes otherwise is nieve and foolish.

Will it be President Bush's or his current administrations fault if this occures? Will it be the intel service falling down on the job? Or should we say its John Ashcroft?

I say it is every administration since Carter who is to blame, for not taking the growing threat of terror seriously. Yes that includes our beloved Reagan and Bush 1.

None the less if someone is hell bent on causing us harm. And of course we know they are. In a free society like ours it is very easy for them to hurt us. We can't even stop domestic crime. Only punish those who commit them.

We have done well so far at hindering attacks. It's only a matter of time though. Question is... what will we do when it happens.

but seriously these guys rantings sound like b movie scripts if i close my eyes i can picture Dr Evil ranting on and on

Posted by: jimmytheclaw at March 12, 2004 11:05 AM

jimmy, you seem to be the kind of person that disregards everything, until they hit you, wich is usually too late to react in a reasonable manner.
They are not ranting,i wish they would, but they are dead serious.
Death to infidels is all they want, nothing less, nothing more.
Like i said before,it looks like the muslims are digging their own grave.

here is something i really do not get about christians. if heaven is better then earth then why are christians so hung up on not dieing and staying on earth?

and if you die in a jihadi bus bombing do you then become a christian martyr thus guarenteed entry into heaven?

Posted by: joseph at March 12, 2004 2:28 PM

joseph,
you have no clue about Christianity.
jihan

Posted by: jihan at March 12, 2004 2:37 PM

Joseph, God gave us life. Only God can take us back to dust. We are not suicidal, for that is a straight ticket to hell. You know, where you're going to end up, Mr. Athiest.

For no other reason, I would never commit suicide and go to hell because I'd have to put up with ding dongs like you and all of the idiotic Muslim radicals that believe killing themselves in order to kill the so called "infidels" is their ticket to paradise.

God put us here to test our will against temptation. Temptation to lust, temptation to worship other Gods, temptation to choke people like you into oblivion, (you get the picture), and earn a place in his kingdom. Perhaps if you bothered to pick up a book and read it, or in your case have someone read it to you, you'd learn something, and spend less time writing goofball remarks like you regularly do.

Joey..

That was one of dumbest things I have seen you post yet....

There is no way you can be that dumb. You have got to be kidding right?

GAZE!

wait a second getting killed by a terriost is not suicide.

if im sitting in a bus with no clue that there is someone on it who is going to blow it up and they blow it up and i am killed in the blast then
god took me out of the world. I did not commit suicide....

Posted by: joseph at March 12, 2004 3:50 PM

Joey,

Here is something I don't get about athiests. If you are an athiest and a jihadi blows you up while you are sitting on the train, do you go to hell? Or just in the ground?

Followup question, if you are an athiest, why are you so interested in what Christians believe? And what does it have to do with the topic of this board?

Posted by: basil at March 12, 2004 7:00 PM

Joseph, are you trying to tell us you're going to blow yourself up, or are you just getting our hopes up for nothing?

Posted by: Hal at March 12, 2004 7:11 PM

I believe when I die i will cease to exist. my point is if your faith is so strong then you are going to heaven that you believe in. you would only be scared of death if you had some reservation about what happens to you after you die. I am not going to hell because I do not believe in it.

but who knows I dont know what happens after death nor do any of you.

Posted by joseph at March 12, 2004 07:43 PM
That's where you are wrong. Jesus died and came back from the dead. He told us what it is like. If you reject him and what he did, then you are condemning yourself. It doesn't matter how strongly you believe in something, it's what you place your faith in that is important.

Joey,

If you have a point, which i doubt, it has nothing to do with this article. I think it says something about your arguments when you can't address the topic at hand. I don't know if the trains in Spain were full of athiests or Episcopalians, but those people are dead. Islam has declared war on you, and all you can do is consider fuzzy theological arguments. You lack a sense of self-preservation, and common sense. You are the dodo of modern Europe, Joey.

no actually i was being sarcastic as for the group the article mentioned claimed things that weren't terror just bad accidents

Posted by: jimmytheclaw at March 12, 2004 11:25 PM

"Winds of Black Death," indeed. More like they're downwind from their own flatulence again.

Posted by: Tex at March 13, 2004 6:34 AM

Hey, PEOPLE! We digress! It isn't whether we think or do not think a) there is an afterlife, or b) there is a supernatural being that is the question here! Let's stay on task, and not let arguments over points which are not germaine to the problem facing us, which is the objectively demonstrable immorality of Islam.

They are immoral basically they hold death, not life, as their ethical standard of the good. They want us out of the picture.

Unless we want to experience the equivalent of the Permian Extinction, we must not expend our energy with unproductive arguments. Remember, Thomas Jefferson once said he didn't care if someone believed in "twenty gods or none." Do not exclude from our ranks in this fight for survival anyone, atheist, agnostic, pagan, Christian, Jew, Hindu, Buddhist, etc. who is on our side. We can throw mud at each other later, under the protection of a still functional Constitution.

Refer back to Basil's post; he's got it right. The Muslims among us don't publicly object to the efforts to destroy us because they AGREE with them, and at the very least, they will not oppose the effort. Robert said it best--they are all walking time bombs.

Let's try to stay focused, people.

So, if the 'Winds of Black Death' hit and suddenly you appear before your Creator, what will you say when He asks, "What did you do with my Son, Jesus?" If you don't have an answer, go see the moive "The Passion of the Christ" or better yet, read chapter 3 of John in the Scriptures...soon.
