Why am I thinking of an old episode of Mayberry where Barney Fife was left in charge of the town?

In all fairness to the man, I am sure he means well and in fact I am sure most European Intelligence Services mean well. In fact, many European Intelleigence Services are some of the world's best. I guess I am most troubled by the public opinion in much of Europe that creates the Zapatero's of Spain.

Well, it's a beginning. Although Europeans have lived with terrorism for years, apparantly terrorism didn't hit them where they lived, down deep in their psyche until the train in Spain was bombed. In point of fact, the European Union did announce the creation of EU-wide arrest warrants right after 9-11 to avoid lenghty extradition proceedings for detained terrorist suspects. But so far the parliament`s of 5 EU countries have failed to enact the required legislation. There is that bog of bureacratic tape that hopefully Mr.De vries may be able to cut and unite under one umbrella of solidarity against terrorism , as was just pointed out in the awakening of the consequences of the Madrid train bombings.
