Britain: flag burnt as extremists cheer bin Laden

_1564626_hamza150.jpeg
Abu Hamza (BBC)

This Telegraph story (thanks to Jeffrey Imm) makes sure to assure us in the first two paragraphs that the flag burning was done by only a tiny minority of extremists, ignored by the vast majority. Unfortunately, however, that tiny minority has the appeal of "pure Islam" on its side.

Islamic fundamentalists burned a Union flag and chanted the name of Osama bin Laden yesterday in defiance of the vast majority of mosques, which backed calls for Muslims to co-operate in the fight against terrorism.

A small number of extremists gathered outside two London mosques to protest but they were largely ignored by thousands of moderate Muslims leaving Friday prayers.

Imams across the country echoed the concerns expressed in a letter sent to more than 1,000 mosques last week by the Muslim Council of Britain, which warned against "mischievous elements" provoking "illegal activity".

But leaders also criticised the West's handling of the Middle East, the detention of Muslim suspects without trial and the "insensitivity" of the police.

One prominent imam argued that the council's letter could add credibility to the misleading impression that Muslims were harbouring terrorists when, in reality, 99 per cent of them were peace-loving citizens.

Mohammad Shahid Raza, the imam of the Leicester Central Mosque, said: "Some of the members of the community are interpreting this letter as something through which the larger community may criminalise the Muslim community.

"They may interpret it as 'Muslims are holding terrorists in their mosques', while 99 per cent of Muslims are peace-loving citizens in this country and have always co-operated with the authorities and the police forces."

Abdul Qayum, the imam of the East London Mosque in Tower Hamlets, said in his sermon that true adherents of Islam "could not conceive" of killing people unlawfully.

But he warned the international community against confusing this with the "freedom movements by the oppressed people of Palestine, Kashmir and Chechnya against the occupation forces".

In other words, his idea of "killing people unlawfully" may differ somewhat from that held by non-Muslims.

In an apparent reference to the anti-terrorism raids in the South-East this week, he added: "We are very worried about the reports of police insensitivity when arresting Muslims and the media coverage that follows."

At the London Central Mosque at Regent's Park, Abdesselam Daoud, a spokesman, said although the council's letter was not read out in full, its concerns were reflected in the day's sermon.

But as several thousand worshippers left the mosque, about 20 supporters of Al-Muhajiroun, a fringe fundamentalist group, burned a Union flag and chanted: "UK, you will pay, bin Laden on his way."

Anjem Choudary, a spokesman for the group, said: "There is nothing me and you, or the British services or the Government, can do about stopping an attack in this country. There is nothing MI5 or MI6 can do to stop al-Qa'eda from bombing London."

The overwhelming majority of the worshippers ignored the radicals, though a few shouted abuse.

Abu Hamza, the radical cleric, held his usual Friday prayer meeting outside the Finsbury Park Mosque, north London, watched by uniformed police officers.

He told nearly 150 Muslims that the only person who cared about the council's letter was Tony Blair.

He claimed that the alleged bomb-making material found by the police this week was "created material" and the arrests were a "conspiracy against these brothers".

The council's letter said that, according to the Koran, the murder of one individual was "tantamount to murdering entire humanity".

It added: "Islam categorically forbids violence and killing of innocents, let alone indulging in violence which can cause death and mayhem."

Iqbal Sacranie, the secretary general of the council, praised mainstream Muslim leaders for playing "a very important role in society".

He dismissed comments by Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad, the spiritual leader of Al-Muhajiroun, who said Muslims should not co-operate with the authorities against members of the same faith.

The threat will become reality. Mainstream Muslim leaders claim that a small group of radicals are perpetrating the violence shows that they know generally who they are. They have not claimed that they don't know them, only that they "always cooperate."

If that is true, then, ' "There is nothing me and you, or the British services or the Government, can do about stopping an attack in this country. There is nothing MI5 or MI6 can do to stop al-Qa'eda from bombing London." ' would not be true. True cooperation would prevent further violence. Muslims are prevented from informing on one another, thus, their loyalty is only to each other. That's bad citizenship.

Look at them - going into overdrive. In pure English terms, this is called "an abuse of power and influence". This tel-a-lie paper has many reporters often writing stories from their apartments in Tel-a-viv.

I am so sorry for you, its just irrelevent to even comment upon.

epg: True cooperation would prevent further violence.

HJ: Cooperation will never happen until the monopoly of the Jews on foreign affairs and internal affairs is curbed. We see nothing but the victimisation of Muslims by this racist Talmudic lot.

Whether we corporate or not, it will never be enough just like racist will always find an excuse to monkey at people like you said:

Muslims are prevented from informing on one another, thus, their loyalty is only to each other. That's bad citizenship.

I rest my case because you are an irrational people, and I hope you safe yourselves before you commit suicide or take an overdose like all Nazi activists.

Posted by: Hood Jihadi at April 3, 2004 1:43 PM

Bravo, Hoodie. This what I expect from you, a visceral attack that misuses the word "irrational."

Cooperation is a two-way street. Cooperation does not meaning caving in and accepting dhimmitude under Imperialistic Islamic ambition to restore the Caliphate to which all Muslims aspire. That is your loyalty, not to the country where you live.

I love pigs, apes, and monkeys, they certainly have more humanity and compassion than you will ever have, dear old Hoodie. Rock on.

Posted by: epg at April 3, 2004 2:06 PM

epg: .. accepting dhimmitude

Hood Jihadi: At least you are fantasising about being a dhimi; by the way there is no word for dhimi in Arabic. It only exists within the Jewish tradition because all man is equal in Islam.

We are the true dhimis, the ones who thought they were earning money when in fact they were slaves to Enron, the ones sent to school full of Mexicans demanding to change the official language to Spanish, the ones destined for penitentiary, OH the list goes on and on....

How about that stupid?

Posted by: Hood Jihadi at April 3, 2004 2:33 PM

The supposed quote from the Koran that murdering one person is like murdering all of humanity was taken from the Torah! One of the few good things that was stolen.

There is no word for 'dhimmi' in Arabic?? It is an Arabic word and refers to all non-Moslems who have to be treated in an inferior manner!

cheya: The supposed quote from the Koran that murdering one person is like murdering all of humanity was taken from the Torah!

Hood Jihadi: Look at him reading some Torah saying blacks were born with a cursed seed. I am glad Islam did not inherit some gutter believes like that then. Judaism is not a religion, but a story book with no moral tales to tell except the teachings of greed and the destructions of other nations.

Posted by: Hood Jihadi at April 3, 2004 3:09 PM

Dear Chaya,

"Dhimmi" is, in fact, an Arabic word. It means "protected" or "guilty" people. It refers, as you have noted, to the system of discrimination and harassment mandated for Jews, Christians, and other "People of the Book" under Islamic law.

The passage of the Qur'an you're referring to is Sura 5:32: "We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people." It is interesting to note, in light of rampant Muslim anti-Semitism, that this verse is couched in another warning for the Jews. It continues: "Then although there came to them Our messengers with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land. The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter."

So instead of this being a wonderful exhortation to mercy, it is actually a warning of fearsome punishment.

Cordially,
RS

For the sake of truth and accuracy I am again going to respond to this man's distortions and untruths.

"Hood Jihadi" wrote: "Look at him reading some Torah saying blacks were born with a cursed seed. I am glad Islam did not inherit some gutter believes like that then."

In fact, of course, there is no such statement in the Torah, but it is interesting to note that there is in Islam:

“Muhammad said, ‘When Allah created Adam, He hit Adam on the right shoulder and the white race sprang out, while the black race came from the left shoulder. Allah said to those of the right hand to Paradise you are and to the left to hell you go.’” (Mishkat Al-Messabih, vol. 1, no. 119)

This hadith may be based on the Qur'an, Sura 3:106: “On the Day when some faces will be (lit up with) white, and some faces will be (in the gloom of) black: To those whose faces will be black, (will be said): ‘Did ye reject Faith after accepting it? Taste then the penalty for rejecting Faith.’”

Cordially,
RS

Spencer: Got you! Mr Spencer quoted:
(Mishkat Al-Messabih, vol. 1, no. 119)

Background: Mishkat Al-Messabih was engaged in localising Islam in Eastern Europe. To gain support of the Chritian Caucus, Mishkat Al-Messabih was also involved in spreading a lot of racism towards the Jews in the hope of gaining sympathy from the Christians. Did that solved your little problem Mr Spencer.

You see Hadiths are something you should keep your hands off; they are like the bible. Every man with an opinion can write their own Hadiths with the usual omissions of blah blah heard the prophet say etc.

Oh and the Sura you mentioned, is it not sad the way you linked the day of judgement to today. Are you also saying just like the Jews, we are black because we are cursed. I can smell bad Funk from Mr Spencer!

Posted by: Hood Jihadi at April 3, 2004 3:47 PM

I respond for the sake of any interested reader who is seeking the truth. As always, I am just reporting on what Islamic teachers and sources say. The idea that being black carries a curse comes not from me, obviously, but from the Islamic hadith collection Mishkat Al-Masabih.

The quote from Mishkat has nothing to do with Jews, and thus HJ's response is incoherent. It is also extremely unlikely that such a book would have been used to appeal to Christians, since it also contains this: "When judgment day arrives, Allah will give every Muslim a Jew or Christian to kill so that the Muslim will not enter into hell fire" (Mishkat Al-Messabih, vol. 2, no. 5552).

As for Mishkat itself: "Mishkat al-Masabih of Shaykh Wal al-Din Muhammad Tabrizi is in actual fact a revised and enlarged edition of Shaykh Abu Muhammad Husayn al-Baghawi's Masabih al-Sunnah and is recognised by scholars of Hadith of all ages for its literary and academic value." -- Mawlana Yunus Patel, Madrasah Sawlihaat, Durban, South Africa

"Each man can write his own hadith." That is the true part. However, hadiths inspire others to violence, and they stick around for centuries, long after the situational context is not longer in effect, but the decree of the hadith is still honored and followed. That is the danger of hadiths.

There are decrees in the Bible that no one would follow because they don't make sense in today's world. You can't shape today's events based ONLY on decrees made centuries or even thousands of years ago.

Well, looks like Hood Jihadi think he's grown a set. I know some of you said that you kind of like having him around, but after browsing more of his rhetoric, my opinion of him being a brainwashed little racist stands.

Like Jojo, he mixes his lack of knowledge with a unique brand of confidence and arrogance. Hoodie, keep an eye on the T.V., for when our military exacts revenge for the barbaric actions of your brothers, you'll notice the cavemen ducking and hiding like the spineless cowards they truly are. This might work for a few minutes, but they'll all soon get their wish of meeting Allah granted.

If you Loons think Iraq is Somalia all over again, you've severely flattered yourselves and terribly understimated out President.

You're not men. hell, instead of cherishing women, you punks are afraid of them. Most likely because their intellect is higher. So, you keep them down, hiding their beauty under hijabs and sheets.

You're very disgraceful. Say hello to your master Satan for all of us. If you like to hang with the radicals, remember, the Vatican is our Holy Ground. Just remember that....The Pope is a wonderful servant of Jesus Christ, and wants peace throughout the world. Your pals need to remember though, millions of us aren't quite as understanding as this great man.

Oh, and don't forget the Mafia over there in Italy. They're not nice people, but unlike Jihadists and their supporters, I respect them.

Too bad we can't have these conversations in person, little man. Do your best, Hoodie.

Hal and D.C., you are droll fellas. Poor guy, his hand, his eye, what else will be taken off. We have some obliging gators here…No, Robert will never allow that.

I can't beleive you all are letting him get away with the "Bible is racist" crap. Nowhere in the Bible does it state that being of a darker skin color means you are less of a person. As to the interpretation that the darker skinned people came out of Noah's son, Ham.. That is sheerly a rediculous interpretation which cannot be supported by the facts - unless you want to say that Noah and his wife had three different "colored" children. This portion of the text was used as a pretext in the times of slavery to support the idea that slavery wasn't a horrible institution, but it isn't supported by the biblical text.

As to the idea of black people being "substandard," the idea is incredibly ludicrous, unless you want to say that Moses marriage of a Cushite woman (black) was an example of his intollerance. In fact, Miriam (his sister) complained to Aaron about it in private and for that she was punished severely (with tzaraat - leprosy) for a whole week. Then, there is the tale of the Queen of Sheba (again black) who visited king Solomon and is alleged to have brought forth a child because she wanted it and he obliged. I think the person with the racist problem, is the one who is crying racism every time he posts on these boards. In psychology, we call that a projection.

It is well known that britons are fearless and ruthless when attending a soccer game.
Spectators chant their team hymns and sing heroic songs for the entire duration of the game, and after they leave the stadium,if their team was defeated, they roll over cars, they beat up the rival supporters and they even burn and destroy property.
Strangely enough, when muslims are openly announcing their intention to turn Britain into a kaliphate, when they burn union flags and when they express their disgust and hatred against the briton infidels, the fierce warriors of the soccer stadiums ,turn into quiet, obedient, little lambs.
The bad news is ,if the muslims will have their way in Britain, there will be no more soccer games,no more beer in the pubs,no more rock and roll bands, and pretty much no more everything that used to be the glorious, beautiful, beloved,Great Britain.

The British people are pussys, they only fight when they're tanked up on their piss(they call it that, not me) When they're not pissed they are like little mice.

Posted by: Umar at April 5, 2004 11:02 AM

Umar, you'd know all about mice, gerbels, and other little rodents that crawl wouldn't you? You're a punk. A disgrace to air breathing people.

You know little about the Brits, which is about as much as you know about everything else.

Piss ant. Just another angry Muslim that isn't exactly sure of what he's mad about. Thinks he a tough guy, but isn't. Are ya now? Little man.
