French National Charged Under UK's Anti-Terrorism Law

From AP, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:

LONDON (AP)--A 39-year-old French national who was arrested in Britain last week was charged Friday under anti-terrorism legislation, police said.

Jacques Karim Abi-Ayad was arrested on April 2 near his home town of Ipswich, southeast England on suspicion of holding false documentation.

Hmm. Just like in Venezuela.

He was questioned by officers from the Metropolitan Police's Anti-Terrorist Branch and charged Friday with possessing a document "likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism."

He is scheduled to appear at Belmarsh Magistrates Court in London on Saturday.

A 38-year-old man, arrested with Abi-Ayad, has been released on bail and ordered to report to a central London police station in July. Police didn't name him and provided no further information about the arrests.
