Is France going to crack down on radical Islam?

BREST, France, April 16 (AFP) - France has deported an Algerian Muslim cleric seeking asylum in the country who was accused of trying to convert young people to a radical form of Islam, police said.

A police statement late Thursday said Abdelkader Yahia Cherif "has just left on a regular ferry for Algiers," under a deportation order issued April 5.

The cleric, imam in the northwestwestern city of Brest, was arrested as he left a police station in nearby Quimper after renewing his request for asylum in France. He was transferred this week to a detention center in the southern city of Marseille, from where he was deported.

The ministry said Cherif's message to young people contained "strong anti-Semitic connotations and the maintenance of active relations with the national or international Islamic movement linked with organisations advocating terrorist acts."

It also accused him of "a call to violence and hatred against people simply because of their origin or their religion."

His lawyer David Rajjou has said Cherif denies all the accusations and said "his life would be in danger" if he were sent back to Algeria.

A Rennes court on Thursday turned down his lawyer's bid to have the deportation ordered withdrawn.

France?!!! I guess if someone complains they'll change their mind and let them back in.

Stupid France Bashers...
I canīt hear that crap anymore. I mean, itīs not even funny anymore. In the beginning it may have been a little funny. But now: Any article containing the word "France" or "French" always gets 20 replys with some variation of: "Oh, theyīre gonna surrender soon". HA HA.

Anyway...what have we won by deporting such persons. They possibly just continue inciting hatred in their home countries, which doesnīt make us any safer. Every country should have its own Guantanamo where they can put persons like that and never let them out again.

At least France has the balls to deport someone.
George BeataroundtheBush would be afraid that if we deported that dirtbag hed lose all the votes
from the illegal immigrant terrorist crowd.
France is also trying to ban the wearing of muslim
headscarves in school.

They will have to deport thousands before any effect will be felt. Yes, indeed, this cleric will only return to his home country to spit out hate and encourage more violence. But violence is not the real danger. It is only the distraction that keeps our attention from the slow, inexorably islamization of society.

The tipping point has not arrived for us in the United States. One wonders what will have to occur before "they" understand what we know and then take action.

France has a massive 20% MUSLIM occupancy.
It is too late for them.
They turn a blind eye to Antisemetic attacks and villify isral and Amnerica in the hope that the Islamists will not rise up and slit their throats.

Oui, Maginot, nous voudrions savoir le situation en France. We would like to know what the French 'street' thinks about the numbers of Muslims in the country and what the future of France looks like if immigration continues. The birth rate of Muslims is much higher than that of the French, n'est pas? How do people in France plan to cope? Did I not read where an Arab said, "We don't need to raise arms against France, we're just going to move in and take over." or something to that effect. How does that make the French feel?
Thank you.

I was in France a few weeks ago talking to an estate agent (realtor) who brought up the subject of Les Arabes. He said if they encroach any more he will move to Spain. This was before the Madrid bombings. The French street feels completely helpless. Blame the elites, not the people - I love the French.

1. Im not french. Iīm german. So thereīs no need to demonstrate me that you have learned french. Wie waers mit etwas Deutsch stattdessen?

2. While youīre right about the problems you mention, you donīt seem to get my point. Iīm just saying the french donīt have some strange "surrender-gene". The common french is no more a coward than you and me. They still have a lot of national pride. And France has already put into action some very good laws, containing muslim influence. By implementing the ban on headscarves for example, they went much farther than the leftist/green german government would ever do. And probably much farther than the american government would do.
The problems derive from different sources. In europe - as well as in america - itīs left/pc media and education. After the attrocities of world war two, it was an easy game for the left in germany to silence everything like national pride, pride for your culture etc. Pupils in german schools are taught by old hippi-teachers, that "war is ALWAYS bad" and that "violence only produces violence" and all that stuff. Of course you believe all that as a kid, because it sounds so nice and it seems quite logical.
So, what we face here is more a common challenge to ALL western societies by leftists in the media and especially the educations system.
It is not something that results from some european genetical disposition.

The French?
How about this quote from a lovely French person,

"I think we should take him on his offer - why do we want to bother with this killer? Let the Americans deal with their problem. We should make a peace with Al-Queda"
Henri Talleuire, Paris, France

For a people who are so justifiably proud of their many cultural contributions to civilized society, it is a crying shame that the French are going down the tubes to Islam, which is so clearly inferior to the French.

A "sacrifice" is defined as the giving up of something of greater value for something of lesser value.

France has sacrificed itself to Islam.

Bummer.

in general, maginot, americans have been quite deferential to the french throughout our history due to their contribution to helping us defeat the british in our revolution. the marquis de lafayette is a national hero here. we have also always been very appreciative of the gift of the statue of liberty.

it is the french themselves who have created the state of animosity we now find ourselves in, starting the the gaulists several decades ago, and then the outright lying followed by condescension from both jacques chirac and dominique de villepin. it doesn't help that "le monde" is a violently anti-american publication. this has been interpreted as a betrayal by the french. yet, due to our history with the french in ww1 and ww2, americans have consoled themselves in the cynical stance that "the french are always there when they need us."

americans do not feel the same animosity toward germany since the germans never gave us assuredness that they would back us in a military campaign in iraq. despite the venom of the anti-american rhetoric that radiates from the intellectuals in germany, at least the government has been straightforward in their diplomacy. indeed, the germans have made certain overtures to reassure us that iraq is a one issue situation and contribute quite valiantly in afghanistan as well as helping to train new iraqi police.

quote:" ...."his life would be in danger" if he were sent back to Algeria."

wow, wow, wow!!! His life would be in danger in a moslem country and he's safe in a kafir country, yet he promotes violence against kafirs? How's that again????

Nice one Jasmine. So far I have yet to encounter anything in Islam that has logic or rationale.

And they want everyone to be like this?
