If Hamas, Hezbollah, and all other groups of terrorists who have a local habitation and a name were to disappear tomorrow, this would change nothing. All Infidels, including Christians in Nigeria and the southern Sudan and the Philippines and the Moluccas, are better off with Rantisi dead and Hamas on the run, though the connection to many is not yet obvious.

Instead of berating Israel, European leaders should openly, or secretly, be thanking that beleauguered country. Many Europeans do, including Oriana Fallaci, Bat Ye'or, Cardinal Biffi, Alexandre del Valle, Magdi Allam, and many others whose ranks are swelling. They know that the Jihad is coming soon, to a country or county near you. In fact, it already has. Why are they permitted to meet in groups of more than three or four at all? It is telling that the assorted murderers of Gaza can congregate without fear -- a clear sign of Israel's absurd, kidgloves policy. Let just one of those crazed corteges to be bombed, and there will be no more of them.

The government of Israel has been criminally prodigal with the lives of its own citizens, such as the 23 revervists who died in Jenin because Israel refused to bomb Jenin from the air. It would be folly if the American military were to mimic Israel. American soldiers' lives are valuable, and all weaponry should be used to enforce the lesson to the mobs of Fallujah, Najaf, and elsewhere: We have the Gatling-gun, and you have not. And you won't.

Used to Israel's mild tactics, the Arabs seem a bit put out by the Marines in Fallujah. That was very mild compared to what American forces permitted themselves, quite rightly, against the Nazis and Japanese militarists. The Arabs have not faced an enemy willing to use real force (the Israelis certainly have not done so, not even in the 1973 war, when they could have gone to small nuclear weapons). Lessons need to be taught; real damage should be inflicted, by the too-compliant Infidels.

Both were committed terrorists who got what was coming to them. Isreal has nothing to lose by elimnating both men along with the rest of the Hamas leadership. Hamas vowed revenge for the killing of Yassin too, the fact that they have not been able to launch an attack shows the targeted assasinations are effective. Hamas leaders are forced underground and must live in fear not knowing if there is a missle with their name on it.Which is good. I see no reason why Hamas leaders should be able to ride in cars in safety while Isreal children face death on buses from suicidial terrorists.

By Sherman's making sure those who supported the rebels also suffered he helped ensure that no one would ever attempt to secede from the US again. The south was soundly defeated and knew that they were defeated and did not rise again. The same thing happen to the Japanese and Germans in WW2. When nuclear fission was first postulated as a munition in the 1930s, as war was again looming, the A-bomb was conceived as a "meta-weapon", an ALTERNATIVE to the slaughter of the battles of WWI.

In WWII, the Allies feared that the A-Bomb was being developed by the Nazis & that they'd have no counter. However, the Manhattan Project wasn't able to deliver its devices prior to the Soviets taking Berlin in May, 1945. But with furious conflict against Imperial Japan continuing in the Pacific, the new A-Bomb was assigned to end the struggle in that theatre.

In view of the sheer, suicidal ferocity of the fighting in Manila, Saipan, Iwo Jima and Okinawa, Washington worried that the four Bombs that were operational in mid-June '45 would prove inadequate to extract surrender from an enemy whose mentality was agitated to so stratospheric a pitch of fanaticism.

Nevertheless, hastened by the prospect of the 1-1/2 million Red Army men, by June sweeping into Manchuria, Inner Mongolia, northern Korea, the Kuril Islands and northeastern and northwestern China, the US took the risk and dropped the Hiroshima and Nagasaki devices.

It did this to spare the appalling casualties to US personnel and local civilians that were estimated for an amphibious, conventionally-armed offensive on Japan and to abort Stalin's ambition - as an "Ally" of the USA and the British - to seize 1/2 of Japan (as he'd managed to take 1/2 of Germany and Europe at Yalta in February), should the option of conventional warfare there have been pursued.

During the period 1945 to 1949, America had the monopoly of nukes. Dr Edward Teller, "Father of the H-Bomb", called this a "window of strategic opportunity" and declared it to have been wasted. The Kremlin would have been vulnerable to US pressures then, but these were never exerted.

Once the USSR acquired the Bomb, the role of nuclear weapons became confined exclusively to that of instruments of mutual deterrence, staying thus through 5 decades of Cold War tensions.

However, with the Cold War finished and in light of technological advances, nuclear weapons no longer need to remain solely as deterrents and armaments of final resort, but can nowadays additionally re-assume their original status of "meta-weapons" once more.

Fresh circumstances have released them for selective use INSTEAD of committing large quantities of OUR forces to nasty, costly, gruelling combat, on the terms set by the cruel and maniacal antagonist: bitter room-to-room fighting in the foul and twisting casbahs of teeming, squalid towns.

The new "nice nukes", judiciously applied, could shut down the "War on Terror" before the Islamo-fascists contrive some episode which'll hand them the momentum to tip the Earth into the horrific conflagration they indefatigably seek (in which the utilization of WMDs on innocents could become routine and the number of lethalities so much the higher).

Using a mini-nuke would constitute the true "shock-&-awe" that was ante-climactic in Iraq a year ago, indubitably weakening the morale of the Islamo-fascists, their supporters and sympathizers, confronting them with a fait accompli they haven't the wherewithal to answer - in a language with which they are fully conversant.

This crumbling of their confidence will take place when it dawns on them that they've bitten off a lot more than they can chew, since there are plenty more nukes on alert and the US' old qualms about employing them have suddenly evaporated.

They'll be confounded to see that America's assimilated that this is a war to the death (which the Islamo-fascists themselvers have initiated, declared and characterized as such): the USA has therefore become mortally serious about it; the gloves are off; no more "Mr Niceguy".
