Australia: Terror suspect 'used government website'

Lodhi allegedly observed satellite images on a NSW Government planning website, detailing infrastructure and transport links

From the Sydney Morning Herald, with thanks to Jean-Luc:

The alleged mastermind of a planned terrorist attack in Australia used a NSW Government website to get maps, data and satellite images of potential targets, including Sydney's Centrepoint, the Parramatta CBD and transport systems.

"He was using it during office hours to look at things like the numbers of floors in a building," a former colleague of Faheem Lodhi told the Herald. "He was interested in areas dead smack in the middle of the city."

Lodhi, 34, also bought a map of the country's energy supply system, which gave details of the routes of gas pipelines and the location of power stations and high-voltage substations. The ready availability of information, including on city infrastructure, revealed by the case is expected to fuel the continuing debate about the terrorist threat and the application of new laws to investigations.

It has also emerged that when the deported Frenchman Willie Brigitte arrived at Sydney Airport on May 16 last year, Lodhi was waiting for him. Brigitte is said to have told French interrogators that he had regular meetings with Lodhi "to prepare a terrorist act of great size in Australia".

Ok. I realize this may be well of the context of this story, but:

He met with a Frenchman?

The guy who got caught in Texas came there by way of France?

French officials made millions (billions?) in regards to Oil-for-food? So that Saddam would Not be ousted?

Is anyone else seeing that France is Not Our Friend?

Ah, the French, duplicitous even before Islamization. Remember that the French "helped" the fledgling Continental Army only to best the English and perhaps gain a windfall of territory if the new conferation of colonies couldn't hold it together. Then there was the XYZ Affair and other intrigues throughout the past two hundred plus years. This is a "friendship" in name only.

The twentieth century brought our participation in two world wars that saved France. Now they sniff and look down their noses when this is mentioned, accusing the U.S. of a cynical and self-interersted participation in those two conflicts and in the rebuilding of Europe.

As they are the Muslim world seem to share the same attitude about the role the U.S. plays in helping others, perhaps it would have been better if we had left them to the wolves or to grovel in the rubble after WWII. For all our efforts we only get a sneer and a kick in the teeth. They deserve each other.

Paragraph 3 above - "As they are the Muslim world seem to share the same attitude" should read "The French seem to share the same attitude as the French…" sorry!
