While jihadists in Afghanistan are threatening to kill those who vote, and those in Kashmir are cutting off ears, their compatriots in the Philippines are much more moderate. They are merely issuing guidelines for voters, trying to ensure that no female candidate gets elected. From Qatar's Peninsula Online, with thanks to Twostellas:
MANILA: About 125 Moro religious leaders calling themselves the Bangsamoro Supreme Council of Ulama (BSCU) have issued a “fatwah” (ruling), laying down guidelines for Muslim voters for the May 10 national and local elections.BSCU head Sheikh Jamil Yahya, 59, spelled out the six-point religious diktat during the Friday prayers at the Grand Mosque in Marawi City.
Since Shariah is not applied in the Bangsamoro homeland, Yahya said, Muslims’ religious obligation is “to choose the lesser of two evils,” one who stands less as hurdle in the practice of Islam, dignity and freedom.
Parts of the fatwah are the prohibition in electing any woman candidate for any position ...
Yahya, known as staunch human rights advocate, graduated at the Madina Islamic University in Saudi Arabia.
Yahya also condemned the alleged persecution being suffered by the Moro people.

November elections are coming up in the United States. One could hope that the American electorate would not allow itself to be swayed by threats or fear of terrorism or that any Muslim in the U.S. would be inclined to issue a fatwa that would bring about a terrorist threat or attack.
Muslims claim that their's is a "religion of peace," but as long as fatwas calling for violence, peaceful overthrow, or Islamization of this or any Western country, expecting that Muslims would obey this obligation, no non-Muslim will be able to have trust in their presence. Muslims must emphatically and without reservation refute this practice. As this has been their practice for over 1500 years, I seriously doubt that they will comply with this request.

Posted by: christian at April 27, 2004 8:13 PMAS the Muslim population grows in America and elsewhere in the democratic West, couldn't an Imam or whoever is in charge, issue a fatwa to all Muslims to vote for a certain person who will help carry out the overtaking of government by Islam?
Doesn't it seem strange, that because of our laws regarding freedom of religion, that we must allow the immigration of people who's leaders and 'priests' have threatened to overthrow us and that these 'churches' are allowed to sprout up everywhere in the very countries they threaten?
An especially dangerous situation that no one is talking about, ( and with reason, because there is a taboo to bringing it up), is that radical Islam is allowed to proselytize in prisons where most of the people held there are already filled with anger and hatred for most of what this country stands for and those who hold power in it. These hundreds of thousands of prisoners, many already affiliated with gangs, could be easily swayed to act in hostile ways against this society - and this time, with a legitimacy based on serving 'Allah'. Imagine all of the rage that can be unleashed: whitey AND infidels, all in one!
The fact that the US government is obligated to condone and support this conversion to a 'peaceful' religion in federal prisons while the leaders of this religion are threatening and preparing unspeakably horrible terrorist acts againt it and it's citizens in 2004 - is nothing short of movie material. American citizens must pay for the room and board, entertainment and general upkeep of huge numbers of angry men while 'high priests' of a dangerous death cult, known to be sowing terror and unrest all over the globe, come in and hold 'services'whose basic premise is that they should rightly kill and maim these very citizens in the name of Allah!
