Hasn't anybody got the guts to accuse the worst perpetrator in this whole Abu Ghraib prison debacle - CBS and 60 Minutes II?
What do you call it when, in time of war, someone takes military intelligence and turns it over to the enemy, who in turn uses it to kill Americans?
Isn't that the definition of treason? Did Benedict Arnold do worse? Did Julias and Ethel Rosenberg pay with their lives for something like this?
It has already been well established, and CBS certainly knew, that the military announced to the press back in January that allegations had been made concerning treatment of prisoners and were being investigated.
In March there was another announcement that the allegations were still being investigated and certain service personnel at Abu Ghraib were relieved of their duties and might be court marshaled.
In other words, while America was fighting a war, the military had already taken the allegations seriously, were investigating them and were taking steps to correct the situation. In other words, it was being handled, and handled well.
These things happen in war on all sides, and though they are not excusable, they are kindergarten exercises compared to car bombs, ambushes, rocket launchings and dangling burning bodies over bridges - and this is what the interrogators at Abu Ghraib were trying to find ways to stop.
Freedom of the press is precious to us, but you can abuse any liberty and stretch it out of shape until it becomes license, and concerned citizens will call for limitations.
In this case, if CBS had really cared about the country, about our military, about doing the right thing, they would have taken these pictures, (which they had illegally) and asked the military and the Pentagon what was being done about the abuses (Although they most likely knew it, they would have been told that the matter was in hand and being taken care of).
Indeed, a general implored them not to publish the pictures because of what he knew would happen as a result.
CBS could have cared less.
In their mad competition for rating points, dollars, and seeing a great way to blast the President and the war effort in Iraq which they have continually denigrated and opposed, they broadcast they abhorrent pictures – and not just to the United States, BUT TO THE WORLD!
Knowing full well that we were walking a tight rope, trying to fight a war, quell disturbances and build a republic for Iraq in the midst of all the terrorist resistance, CBS published these abhorrent pictures knowing they would destroy completely our image and standing in the Muslim world.
And what about Osama bin Laden? What about the terrorists? What about America's image with all our allies around the world? And what about America's own self image and confidence in their leaders?
And what did the beheaders of Nick Berg say, just before they callously sawed his head off while he screamed, "This is in retaliation for what you Americans did to our people at Abu Ghraib!" And how did they know about these interrogation abuses?
Though poor Mr. Berg blames George Bush and Donald Rumsefld, it is incontrovertible that his son would be home with him right now had it not been for the publication of those pictures. Mr. Berg is pointing his finger in the wrong direction.
And as a direct result of CBS callous and patently unpatriotic action, America is suffering great loss of prestige around the world, and will for decades.
America has lost credibility with Muslims and the Arab world internationally, perhaps forever; and every American life is in far greater danger from terrorist reprisal, no matter who and where we are!
Freedom of the press is a cherished commodity, guaranteed by our Constitution. But freedoms, if they are to be maintained and to have the original meaning, must be treated with grave responsibility and restraint.
For me, CBS has become "the enemy within", and I hope never to watch the network again. I think most Americans ought to reflect on the results of their irresponsible and unpatriotic behavior and perhaps narrow their viewing options by one network. The next time America or Americans suffer at the hands of terrorists, thank CBS.

Following the conquest of Constantinople in 1453, Sultan Mehmet II seized Armenia a predominately Christian country and put it under Muslim rule and subjugated the Armenian population to extremely harsh treatment and relegated them to second class citizens. They were viewed with contempt and had their belongings and property seized and at times they were killed by their Muslim leaders. Young Christian males were subjected to a unique tax called devshirme, were they were forcibly taken from their home and enslaved as soldiers in the Muslim armies to fight in their conquest of surrounding countries. Yes that is right Muslim conquest and subjugation of native people in their homeland.

The Ottoman Empire, yes empire the root word of imperialistic, began is rapid decline and loss of influence in the world in the 19th century. One of the causes for this decline was the fact that the empire never understood economic development much like today. They ruined industry by excessive taxation. The Muslim’s saw themselves as rulers and administrators. They cared very little banking, trade, agriculture and commerce or any other aspects of business that produced profit. They began to relegate these tasks to the Armenian people, as well Greeks and Jews who were fleeing Europe and the Spanish inquisition. Unfortunately this could not stem the tide of decline of the Ottomans and in their anger they persecuted the Armenians often using them as scapegoats for a failing society.

There was in fact a full scale massacre of the Armenians in 1894-1896 and again in 1909 followed by another series of massacres in 1920. With the onset of World War I full scale genocide had began.

In 1908 the then ruling government was overthrown by the “Young Turks” and in late 1914 and early 1915 the current Islamic Turkish Government ordered the deportation of all Armenians from what is now known as Turkey. In fact it is understood that this was well thought plan of extermination of the Armenian culture from our planet.

It is well documented that all able bodied men and boys were rounded up from the cities and countryside, taken away and executed. The remaining people mostly woman, children and elderly were then systematically herded south in long columns. These columns were constantly attacked by the soldiers pushing them south, and angry mobs of Muslims. Most of the population suffered greatly. They were forced to endure cold blooded murder, gang rapes and mutilation and torture. Many of them died of starvation and exposure. Those who did survive where abandoned in the deserts of Syria. There was no humanitarian relief from the Middle Eastern countries to help these people. The then League of Nations the predecessors of the modern United Nations did nothing to assist or stop this barbaric treatment of the Armenians. Thus the entire nation of Armenians was destroyed and a thriving population of 2 million people were effectively eliminated from their homeland of 3000 years.

I was turned on to this site just a couple weeks ago and found it interesting. Reading the stories and comments. It seems the first couple people comment on the article then all of the sudden it's "my Granddaddy raped Indians and the muslims are going the rape me and my grandchildren are going to be muslim and rape me" and it's like this everyday. Yes, KAMA, I remember reading about that twisting of Algonquin history too. How outrageous these Muslim liars are! Trying to rewrite history so it looks like all lands were once Muslim. Of course, their belief is that any land that once had Muslims is Muslim today and forever. They tried this in Australia too. So sneaky and devious. And evil. And some teachers are so eager to accept anything that gets a dig at the "white oppressor" that they propagate these lies. But they picked on the wrong people, when they tried it on the Algonquins. One thing I know about Canadian native bands, is that they are fiercely proud of their heritage, and they will not put up with anyone messing with it. Good for them. But it's a shame if lots of kids got taught these lies before they were caught out and are going around believing it today. DCWatson, yes I think you're right, AJ is based in Qatar, but it seems to have a pretty low profile apart from that. As for Islam reforming, and becoming an asset to humanity - who can honestly feel optimistic about that happening? If Iraq turns out well, and the Arab League can be pressured into meaningful reform, then there might be a chance, but I'm not holding my breath.

Muslims believe the Qur'an is the final, divine word of Allah, which would seem to preclude any sort of "reformation" of Islam.

I wouldn't worry about it. This is typical muslim inferiority complex. They have made such a mess of their own countries they prefer to try to claim our (non-muslim) successes. When they start saying they invented the wheel, ask them why muslim countries are all failed states. Or try to engage them in discussion of the islamic paradises of Somalia, Libya, Saudi Arabia, etc.

lobo91, it does seem unlikely that Islam can be reformed. Whichever way you slice it, the Koran will always contain verses which command Muslims to wage war on infidels. Containment is our only option, for the forseeable future. Also, I'd bet my life that, if referenda were held in the UK/USA/Australia right now, asking whether Muslim immigration should be stopped, the vote would be a big YES.

The chapter written by Ms. Shabbas and Abdullah Hakim Quick claims that Muslims from Europe were the first to sail across the Atlantic and land in the New World, starting in 889, the report says.
"The idea that English exploreers met native Indian chiefs with Muslim names in the middle of the Northeast woodlands sounds almost like something a hollywood film writer dreamed up for a spoof:, the report says.
The current 1998 edition of the Notebook has "no evidence or documentation to support key historical "facts" that serve to advance their political views or religious beliefs:, the report says.
"One can only wonder if this has ever been questioned by the teachers who use its materials, or if they feel they must agree to any claim made by Muslims as an "alternative perspective" or risk being labeled insensitive, Eurocentric or racist.

Hello again everyone,
Despite my occasional swings at the Mahmoud-clone and the Reza-droid, I honestly can't say I expect much dialog of/from them. (Or their 'brothers') What is the old saying? "I argued many hours with a fool, till I found him similarly engaged." They seem like millions of other wahabi mullah-led, muslims. A few of my observations from varied boards:
1) It doesn't matter what you say to them. There is no fact, argument or logic that will work to explain a position to them. They are not interested in facts, logic or common sense. You are wrong, because you are not muslim. Period. They will obfuscate, BS, and whine to get their way. Whatever works, just like any two-year old.
2) There is no "bottom line" for them. They have no real internal locus of control or morality. No act too horrible for them to consider, if it is against a non-muslim. Snipe a 2 week old baby in its fathers arms? Fine. Kill old men and women? fine with them. Gangs of armed men to attack a kindergarden/kibbutz full of children? Says they can in their holy book. Blow yourself up in a group of women pushing prams from temple? Sounds extra good to these jerks. In fact, it serves their purpose to make you THINK they are interested in dialog or exchange, while the planners continue working on attacks.
3) They can be the worst sort of hypocritical whiney,snot-faced bullies. I hold a 'hypothetical' example here. We'll use him,
as an example of this principle: He has no problem stealing from his own people, sending out murderers,rapists, then lying and denying he's helping to hide these same jerks...until finally PO'ing the Israeli's enough to attack his compound...then screaming like a muslim woman into his cell phone, whining and sucking snot to any world leader he could raise, crying to get the other leaders to stop the mean-old-Israelis before he was killed. What a man!, What a shining example of (Muslim){tm} leadership!
I have had the honor of meeting and knowing some fine people who happened to be muslims..these guys ain't them.

I've been wetting myself laughing at the latest revelation on how arabs/muslims "discovered" the Americas. (Nobody discovered America, the people who had been living there for thousands of years before Columbus didn't need anybody to "discover" them, did they?)
To demonstate the kind of loony science used to "prove" these fatuous ideas, here's a little spoof of my own -
The Navajo refer to themselves as "DINEH" which i understand translates as "the people", well, the Gaelic word DAOINE can mean "a person" and the Welsh word DYN means "a man" does this "prove" therefore that Celtic tribes from the British Isles sailed their little coracle canoes across the Atlantic, trooped all the way across to the American South West and set up shop in the Arizona New Mexico area? No it bloody doesn't, it's a simple linguistic coincidence!
