"There was some people out there that wore long clothes, but the only time we ever saw them was at the post office"
What they're thinking in the town where the Feds say Abu Hamza was hoping to set up a terrorist training camp. This article and this one at Dhimmi Watch show how important it is for Americans to have a full and working knowledge of Islam and the goals of Islamic radicals like Osama bin Laden and Abu Hamza. From AP:
Dean Lawrence used to think it was a joke when he heard all the talk about terrorists thinking about training on a sheep ranch outside his tiny hometown of Bly, Ore.He was rethinking things Thursday after the arrest of a Muslim cleric in London on charges of trying to establish a terrorist training camp near Bly, a logging and ranching town in the sagebrush-dotted high desert of southern Oregon.
"A small town like this - I read in the paper one time there was 15 people came down to look" at the ranch, Lawrence said Thursday in a telephone interview from the gas station he owns in Bly.
The townspeople have been slow to believe terrorists were really targeting their town.
Two people connected to a mosque in Seattle, Semi Osman and James Ujaama, were charged in 2002 with trying to start a training camp for Al-Masri, but the charges were dropped in exchange for guilty pleas on lesser charges.Authorities have said Ujaama sent al-Masri a fax proposing a camp outside Bly, and al-Masri sent two representatives to evaluate the site. The two were reportedly disappointed that the property had no barracks for trainees, and the camp was never developed.
The Klamath County Sheriff's Department got a tip from Interpol about the ranch in 1999 and sent some deputies to keep an eye on it, but they did not notice much beyond a dozen people taking target practice, said Sheriff Tim Evinger. The shooting was not enough to catch the notice of neighbor Don Wessel, a retired logger who himself is used to taking shots at gophers on his ranch. He saw the news about Al-Masri's arrest on television.
"There was some people out there that wore long clothes, but the only time we ever saw them was at the post office," said Wessel.
Finally one wonders, "Why Oregon?"
Oregon had a brush with terrorism in 2002, when seven Portland-area Muslims, most of them American-born, were charged with plotting to join the Taliban to fight in Afghanistan.Only one, accused ringleader Habis Abdu al Saoub, made it to the battlefield, where he was killed by U.S. forces last year. The others met with visa and money troubles and returned without firing a shot. They pleaded guilty to various charges and are serving three to 18 years in prison.

This highlights the importance of knowing what is going on in our own areas...Not to be intrusive, but an American without an illegal agenda should not mind his neighbors knowing what he is doing with his land...
Some friends of mine were on a vacation from PA in 1997 or 1998 and got lost in Virginia, they drove up a mountain and were stopped at a gate on a dirt road by men dressed in robes and wearing head scarves like Arafat wears...They were told to turn around and leave, No small talk no friendly mannerisms...These men were dead serious and my friends wasted no time doing what they were told. On reflection one wonders what they were doing there...
Posted by: susanc at May 28, 2004 8:21 AMSusan - those people should have been reported to the authorities immediately!! And a SWAT team should have been sent there!! What the hell is going on that terrorists can 'take over' some area they want and nothing is done about it!!! What more has to happen before people demand that these people leave the U.S.??

Hindsight is 20/20 isn't it? I am sure that if my friends knew then what we all know now they would have called someone...But who? Today we all know the FBI has a specific tip line for terrorist information...Did they in 97 or 98?
It is TODAY that we need to be vigilant about...If the populous gets involved terrorists will not get footholds in the first place and they will lose some of the footholds they have...
Posted by: susanc at May 28, 2004 11:16 AMNeighborhood Watch Programs work very well in urban areas of the country. Neighbors looking out for neighbors.
We need a rural equivalent.
Not the government, but the ordinary citizen taking responsibility for their country.
Well isn’t that just scary, I am glad we are hunting these assholes down. it should be A known fact THAT THEY ARE HERE AND THEY ARE PISSED OFF. These bastards will kill you and your family just because you are an American. Its time for all us true Americans to get ready for what is to come and be prepared. OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE AND DONT BE A DUMB ASS AND THINK THAT THEY ARE NOT LIVING NEXT TO YOU. You don’t want to be the person who says after the next terror attack HEY THAT GUY LIVED NEXT TO ME AND HE SEEMED NICE. Lets also get out of this habit of thinking these assholes are stupid. Agreed most of them look like they are inbred and maybe they are, but you can still train and teach an inbred dog to hunt and kill. These Muslim extremists are very well trained to do one thing and one thing only, TO KILL YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES. To close this out I found a great quote in the bible and I wanted to share it with you. O LORD Almighty, you who examine the righteous and probe the heart and mind, LET ME SEE YOUR VENGOUNCE UPON THEM FOR TO YOU I HAVE COMMITTED MY CAUSE.
DEATH TO THE JIHAD
I know this is a serious website...but being Memorial Day, and being an infidel, here I am drinking a beer, so...and I hate to be Howard Stern-like, if that's a word, BUT...does anyone think these jihadis are hateful because they have, uh, well, small members? I mean, look how ugly these guys are...the milky eye, the hooks...I bet these guys are a real hit with the babes...look at their main man, Osama...what a dork...no wonder they cover women in blankets and beat them with sticks and such...probably have some deep seated feelings of rejection from women...and possibly some other psychological problems as a result of staying on the breast too long...well, just maybe its more than the words of a 7th century lunatic that drives the train...maybe its some kind of overall inferiority complex on the part of the Arab male...can anyone name recent contributions to society by Arabs?? After the numerals and algebra, it has pretty much been a downhill slide.
Posted by: kirk at May 28, 2004 5:56 PMKIRK:
The arabs didn't invent anything. All of their medieval 'achievements' were simply the result of appropriating technology from the civilizations they conquered.
'Arabic' numerals is a misnomer. The numerals we use were invented by the Hindu Indians (who also invented the zero) and passed to Europe via the arabs.
Posted by: Crusader Front at May 28, 2004 6:24 PMGeez, no contributions at all??? not only are they penis-challenged, are you telling me that they are really just worthless pieces of camel shit ??...a Persian friend of mine told me that once...I reckon its true. Allah U Ahktooie!
Posted by: kirk at May 28, 2004 6:40 PMI think this guy would have been noticed wandering around rural Oregon...is this the crepiest thing youve ever seen...gak!!...all the years I have spent telling the kids there is no boogeyman and there he is.
I read an article on how they took his hooks away in prison...here comes CAIR...took away this poor mans hooks and now he is humiliated...awwww.
Kirk,
They are not worthless.
In addition to their intrinsic comedic value, they are also good for the military-industrial complex.
DTTJ makes some very good points by advising us to PAY ATTENTION to what is happening all around you.Suicide bombers will soon be doing their thing here on our homeland. In the State Of Ohio where I live we have a carry concealed gun law that I take full advantage of and the first time anyone screams "allah akbar" they will become martyrs in the world of islam. I want to be Judged by twelve not carried by six.
