Iranian official says missiles ready to strike US

From MEMRI, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:

The London Arabic-language daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat reported that "an Iranian intelligence unit has established a center called The Brigades of the Shahids of the Global Islamic Awakening to replace the Iranian Revolutionary Guards' Department of Liberation and Revolutionary Movements, which had been in charge of helping and training revolutionary forces across the world." [1] The article went on to report a speech given by an official of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, threatening the U.S. with suicide and missile attacks at already-selected sensitive targets, and threatening to "take over" Britain. The following is the report: [2]

Iran Stands Ready to Attack the West

"A source close to [Revolutionary Guards] intelligence confirmed that P.R. has been appointed secretary-general of a new office that has begun registering the names of suicide volunteers to be sent to Iraq, Palestine, and Lebanon.

"[The newspaper reported that it had obtained] a tape with a speech by H.A., a [Revolutionary] Guards intelligence theoretician, who teaches at the Revolutionary Guards' Al-Hussein University. [In the tape, H.A.] spoke of Tehran's secret strategy aimed at taking over the Arab and Muslim countries by means of helping revolutionary forces and organizations. H.A. is regarded as one of the advisors of a branch in the organization, and has published a number of works on exporting the [Islamic] revolution and the method of the struggle against the world arrogance [i.e., the U.S.].

"In his speech at a secret conference attended by students who are members of the Ansar Hizbullah movement at Al-Hussein University, [H.A. said]: 'Iraqi oil constitutes 11% of the world oil reserves, and it has fallen into the hands of the U.S. and Britain. The value of the intelligence documents that the U.S. obtained because of its takeover of Iraqi intelligence is greater than $1000 billion. Whereas our [Iran's] Foreign Ministry was expressing willingness to reconstruct the statue of the Buddha [destroyed by the Taliban in 2001] in Afghanistan – that is, to build an idol, which is an act that is against the principles of Islam – the U.S. managed to force its rule on Afghanistan.

"'(President Muhammad) Khatami speaks of the dialogue between civilizations, and I have grave doubts about this. It is a dubious idea. We do not want to take over the British Embassy, since they (the British) have already cleared the embassy of documents; we must take over Britain [itself].'

"After [H.A.] harshly attacked Khatami and the reformists, he said in his speech: 'The West sees us as terrorists, and depicts our strategy as terrorism and repression. Had our youth agreed to Khatami's teachings and interpretations, it would never have fought the arrogance, and would never have defended the holy places – because Khatami speaks always of being conciliatory, of patience, and of rejecting terrorism, while we defend [the line of] toughness and war against the enemies of revolutionary Islam. I take pride in my actions that cause anxiety and fear to the Americans.

"'Haven't the Jews and the Christians achieved their progress by means of toughness and repression? We have a strategy drawn up for the destruction of Anglo-Saxon civilizationand for the uprooting of the Americans and the English.

"'Our missiles are now ready to strike at their civilization, and as soon as the instructions arrive from Leader ['Ali Khamenei], we will launch our missiles at their cities and installations. Our motto during the war (in Iraq) was: Karbala, we are coming, Jerusalem, we are coming. And because of Khatami's policies and dialogue between the civilizations, we have been compelled to freeze our plan to liberate the Islamic cities. And now we are [again] about to carry out the program.'

"In his speech, he added: 'The global infidel front is a front against Allah and the Muslims, and we must make use of everything we have at hand to strike at this front, by means of our suicide operations or by means of our missiles. There are 29 sensitive sites in the U.S. and in the West. We have already spied on these sites and we know how we are going to attack them.'

"In another part of his speech, he emphasized, 'If Israel dares attack the [nuclear] installations at Bushehr, our losses will be very low, because [only] one structure will be destroyed – while we [i.e., Iran] have means of attacking Israel's nuclear facilities and arsenals such that no trace of Israel will remain.'"

Sabre rattling. Or they better hope. If it is not, a lot of people living in structures that don't even come up to the building codes of the 18th Century in Iran (remember last year's quake? Thousands dead) are going to find themselves encased in glass as their homes melt around them.

Somehow I do Not think the UK is going to stand by once attacked. Nor wait for the UN.

It's so hard to fly a fighter jet or a Stealth bomber wearing one of those burnose get-ups. The helmets barely fit over the turban deals. No wonder they have no Air Force.

No wonder we do and how easy it is to take out a missile launch site.

It is sabre rattling. Unfortunately (for them) advanced technology trumps swords every time.

Posted by: whistling dixie at May 29, 2004 7:21 AM

Almost, Whistling. Almost. Unfortunately they got a nice chunk of armaments when they tossed out the Shah (old as those are now). And they got more when Saddam's elite pilots ran in fear for Iranian airspace. I'm sure a few of those at least are still functional- until they get Into the air and find UK jets waiting for them.

Too bad they sink more into weapons tech than housing for their people.

I got this article this morning and even though it's from 4-24-04, it convinced me that it's time to take the gloves off with these muslim @$$holes. It's time to stop mincing words, sidestepping the heart of the matter, and to he** with the fools that say we need to continue to dialogue with islam. I said this to the Detroit Free Press's comment site; I meant it, and I will say it henceforth forevermore.

Here's the link [about the 'call to death' in Hamtramck, MI]>

http://www.detnews.com/2004/editorial/0404/24/d05-132115.htm

Here's my 'forevermore'>

Name: Chris
Topic for discussion: I am anti muslim.
Your comments:
"The strength of America comes from recognizing its different faiths. But religious tolerance shouldn’t be misused to make city services more expensive or support broadcasts that intrude on residents’ privacy. "
Your article should have taken this above commentary one step further. "Religious tolerance' should not include tolerating a religious system whose sworn objective is to destroy America, 'the great satan', which is exactly what islam intends. With the wealth of information available on this fact, only a complete fool could claim otherwise. "Religious tolerance' does not mean allowing for the islamic theocracy to deliberately manipulate our Constitution in America to set itself up in our midst. America is waking up to this fact.

I am anti muslim and anti islamic, and I don't give a squat about being 'tolerant' multiculturally insensitive', and I am NOT afraid of any kind of islamic fatwas either. So, islam- kiss off.

Saber rattling or not this sort of rhetoric is going to reap the Iranians more than they care to deal with....

I wish I were as confident as some that Iran can not deliver the weapons they have....Maybe it is time to Pull an "Israel" on them and bomb the facilities before they bomb us??

The fact that Iran is saying they are using Nuclear technology for "peaceful" purposes is no consolation when one realizes Islam will have no peace until all infidels are slaves or dead...That knowledge sure makes "Peaceful purposes" take on a whole new meaning!

Posted by: susanc at May 29, 2004 7:51 AM

If true, this speech and article shows yet again the true nature of Islam and of Muslims that subscribe to this kaka.
Perhaps we *should* simply wait till just before the next hajj...then make sure these clowns get a niiiicce shiny old nuke to play with....I'd bet the "Abdul factor" would get a few million with buns in the air. (That, or a remote trigger)
Again, and all (hopefull) joking aside; this just shows that you cannot trust these people to have any real moral center or ethics that requires them to speak truthfully, honestly, or act decently with accord to the rest of the world.
Sad, to build a religion around that sort of ethos.
Too bad Mohommed's brother didn't pull a "Cain & Abel" on him. Then we wouldn't even have this problem.

1st Iranian pilots are very good. Jokeing about turbans covers a dangerous competancy that may turn extremely dangerous. That being said, I think we are #1 taking them at their word (not a good idea, get proof).
#2 I worry more about missing WMD, from Lybia as well as Iraq. These people are not stupid, the next time will not be what we think it will be. My deepest fears are living the life of Israelis ie murder of innocents just for its own sake, or chem/bio weapons. One infected suicide nut with a disease that takes 10 days or so to incubate = disaster.

No matter what the reaction in the world, this administration has to do something about Iran's nuclear capability. Iranians in exile -- pace Nicholas Kristof, who always gets everything backwards -- will be delighted, and their cause encouraged, if the Iranian nuclear facilities are destroyed. If, however, those facilities are not destroyed, and the current Iranian regime can proudly announce that it has made Iran a "nuclear power," then that regime will never be dislodged. And no thinking Iranian, in exile or within Iran, can stand that possibility.

If Bush loses the election, he must go ahead, between November and January, and do in Iran what must be done. Eventually even a Kerry administration, one assumes, would come to understand Islam, but the learning-curve is slow, and sentimentalism, as well as the deliberate and nauseating demonization of Rumsfeld and Ashcroft, would delay a proper reaction until too late. This is not something that can be endlessly pondered.

Posted by: Hugh at May 29, 2004 8:53 AM

With all blustering aside, the reality is that the Iranians do not have much to worry about from the US or the West. Consider Afghanistan: not only are they aiding the likes of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar and Ismail Khan but they are also running dozens of TV and other propaganda outlets (some with US permission). Not to mention they have allowed several top Al-Qaeda leaders to cross from Afghanistan to Iran and are now harboring them. (Of course, this is not their first time working with Al-Qaeda)

Then take Iraq, not only are they doing the broadcasts, but they are backing the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq, Da’wah, Al-Sadr, and bribing any number of tribal leaders, clerics, students, and basically anything that moves in Iraq. Then consider their support for Ansar-al-Islam including Zarqawi, who by the way is Al-Qaeda chemical/bio/toxin weapons expert and ran the Al-Qaeda camps nearest the Iranian border in Afghanistan, and who after fleeing to Baghdad from Afghanistan and being set up in Al-Sulaymaniyah by Iraqi Intelligence, then fled into Iran before the war and now crosses with impunity between the two countries.

Throw in for good measure Iran’s support for Hamas, Hizbollah, Islamic Jihad and other terrorist organization who now have set up shop in Iraq, and you have them kicking us in the teeth in both Afghanistan and Iraq and we have done nothing about it.

This unfortunately is nothing new with respect to Iran. After all they were behind the attacks on our embassy and the Marine barracks in Lebanon, Khobar Tower in Saudi Arabia, the taking of hostages, numerous hijackings, and finally prior to 9-11 responsible for more American deaths through acts of terrorism then any other nation in history (estimate by some to be around 2,500).

The reality is that Iran has not had reason to really worry about the US doing anything. This is unfortunate because they are the keystone of international terrorism, and if we were to take them out (i.e. help the 80-90% of the Iranian population who hate their government and love the US/West take back their own country) then it would be a major strategic victory in the war on terror. Not to mention it would go a long way to stabilizing the Middle East/Central Asia as a whole and Afghanistan/Iraq in particular.

Why aren't we seeing more of these threats from the media? Oh, one line here and there maybe, but no big whoop. I guess my blood is really boiling because I read "Arab News," and NEVER see any of this stuff, although they devote pages to denigrating the US. And the adminstration keeps telling us these guys are our friends? And the letters section really pisses me off. Today, you can read Bush and his staff being called "Bush and his Zionist mafia." Every letter is just dripping with contempt and hatred for the US and the Bush administration. And I just LOVE the AMERICANS who write in and call our military and government "despicable animals." I especially appreciated the one that referred to Bush as "laughing all the way to the bank" with his ill-gotten booty. And what booty would that be, pray tell? The last I heard, the American tax payer is funding reconstruction of Iraq to the tune of $180 billion dollars--WHICH WE DON'T HAVE!--plus the cost of maintaining our troops. And gas is $2.50/gallon. Am I missing something here? And of course now comes the predictable accusations of not turning real sovereignty over to Iraq and the establishment of the interim government as being a joke. I am fed up with trying to do anything decent in that part of the world. When will we learn? I'm sorry, but I AM SICK OF THE LIES being told about us, and not one word ANYWHERE of what is really going on. These damned Arabs are so good at propaganda, I swear they are channelling the spirit of Joseph Goebbels. When in the heck is the Western media going to grab a clue? The Arab media is on 150% offensive, attack, attack, attack, and our media can't even bring itself to report the truth, let alone propaganda. And it's so frustrating because there is nothing you can do about it. I started reading Arab News to try to get the Arab perspective and see if I could learn something, but it's just so much BS and all it does is gets my blood pressure up. Grrrrrrrr!

This should aready be an known fact by all Americans. Dont fool yourself into thinking that there are not 1000's of Missles aimed at us at this very second. Not just by the iranians but by countries that me call or allies. This is what the world has come to and its become a scary place. This is a war that will continue for years and years. It will not come down to whos got the best equipment but who has the will to fight and die for there country and what they believe in. The time is here and there are still american unbelievers out there that still dont want to understand or dont want there own childern to understand what is happening in this world. I see the children in muslim countries ranging from age 4 to 17 praying to there so called god for the distruction of this great country (US). Open your eyes people THE TIME IS HERE AND YOU SHOULD LET YOUR CHILDREN KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON AND WHAT THEY WILL HAVE TO SACRIFICE TO SAVE THE USA. INCLUDING THERE OWN LIVES AND THE LIVES OF THERE OWN FAMILIES. I DO NOT FEAR DEATH AT THE HANDS OF THESE MUSLIM EXTREME COUNTRIES AND YOU SHOULD NOT EITHER. BE READY, DO NOT HIDE IN YOUR HOUSE JUST TO SAVE YOURSELF AND YOUR CHILDREN. WHAT DO YOU THINK WHOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF THE 16 MILLION AMERICANS WHO JOINED THE FIGHT DESIDED TO HIDE IN THERE HOUSES DURING WW2. JEREMIAH 20:12

Posted by: DEATHTOTHEJIHAD at May 29, 2004 10:30 AM

Well, they say the way to become smarter is to examine the company that you keep. Apparently the Muslims keep company with many of the wrong intellect. Basically this guy can blow it out his ass, as he must be yelling in the woods, only no one hears him. What an idiot! A pathetic spheel of hatred, fear and stupidity that only marks the desperate extremeists to be even more sighted in for US military target practice.

Wake up Islam, you have nothing to fear but the extremeists and change! You got rich off of our oil technology and from technology to grab the oil underneith you! Fair is fair, now realize that your religion and pathological extremism have kept you in the dark. Either join the civilized world or die in it. It's your choice.

Remember the only way to become wiser is to surround yourself with wise friends. Remeber that Muhammed considered himself to be a prophet and not God himself (He was wise but a little off center to say the least). The Muslims have made him a god, and therefore are in the company of a lesser intellect, and unfortunately follow it as though it is God. First mistake folks. Next stupid ranting and raving please?

Susanc wrote: ". . .Islam will have no peace until all infidels are slaves or dead...That knowledge sure makes "Peaceful purposes" take on a whole new meaning!"

Susan, you got it right--"peace," in Islamic epistemology, means "lack of opposition." If you know that, then you know how long this battle will last, and what we have to do to end it.

Our job is to make sure our policymakers know it too, and that will be the hardest job of all.

Tim said: ". . .this just shows that you cannot trust these people to have any real moral center or ethics that requires them to speak truthfully, honestly, or act decently with accord to the rest of the world."

Tim, you got that right, too. Philosophy has three (or five, depending on how you categorize all of existence) major branches. "Ethics" is the branch that provides us with a moral code, the function of which is to act as a roadmap to guide our thoughts and actions. A "moral code" is based on values we choose for that purpose. (Please note the operative term, "choose.")

In order to choose values for a moral code, we have to have some sort of "standard" of what is good in order to know whether we have chosen the correct values for our moral code. Without deriving the validity of our own "standard of the good" right now, let me just say that it is valid: "human life as appropriate to the nature of human beings."

Any time you have a moral code based on life, your thoughts and behaviors are those that tend to support life--you think, you ask questions, you are productive, you innovate, you cooperate with your neighbors, you are fair, and you act in defense of your life.

Islam has chosen death as it's "standard of the good." Life on this earth is not its primary value. Maintaining Islam, without regard for life as appropriate for a human being, is its only goal; that can be achieved only if there is no regard for life. You may not think, because that could lead to questions; you may not ask questions, because that may lead to innovation; you may not innovate, because that will lead to change; if change is allowed in one part of life, it may lead to change in your belief system. For this reason, thinking, questions, innovation, and change are all sins, and they must not be permitted. In order to have a totally unchanging and predictable world, you must control every aspect of other people's beliefs--they must believe the same thing--and every aspect of their behavior, including the way they cleanse themselves after defecating. In order to have total control, you must be able to justify the destruction and murder of your neighbors, should they disagree.

In order to accomplish all that, you must choose--again, the operative term is "choose"--death as your "standard of the good."

Eneri said: "Iranian pilots are very good."

Eneri, you are right; they are extremely capable and skilled, despite their reluctance to fly upside down. We ought to know they are good, since we trained them.

Hugh has said: "No matter what the reaction in the world, this administration has to do something about Iran's nuclear capability. . .but the learning-curve is slow."

Hugh, this is true, and the time for action was yesterday, when Robert, you, and others began trying to teach us about the nature of the enemy.

Most of us embrace an ethic that ultimately teaches us some version or other of the "Golden Rule"--"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

Such an ethic has, for the most part, chosen "life" as its "standard of the good," and the moral code that results is a reasonable one.

As I told Tim, Islam has chosen "death" as its "standard of the good."

It is our ignorance of both Islam and ethics that has made our "learning curve" so slow and difficult, and which will prolong the war we are now fighting.

Most people around the world no longer study philosophy as the secular discipline it was when given birth in pagan antiquity. Then, it was studied with the same attitude as was mathematics, medicine, astronomy, etc.

When the pagans left the scene, philosophy, especially ethics, was "rolled into" religion, which has become the only exposure most of us ever have to it.

Since most religions have chosen "life" as an ethical consideration, and since most of us have been ignorant of Islam for so long, most of us haven't had a clue about just how evil Islam is. This has made it very difficult with our policymakers, who are largely religious people, to come to grips with the idea that a "religion" could actually be out to get us, to destroy us, to kill us, and that that is the way they intend to dominate the world.

Sure, most forms of Christianity, for example, would like to dominate the world too, but the weapon of choice here is not killing, it is persuasion.

It may take several academic generations to produce a population that can discern the danger of a philosophy of death that happens to disguise itself as a religion but which is nothing more than a wolf in sheep's clothing.

We must start educating the young.

Is this something new for you?
An Islamic Brother Country who is trying to defend himslef and the rest of the Muslim Brothers against agression of zionists and america.
Are you jealous to their abilities?

Mohmoud,
There is not such thing as a Islamic brother country, Whould you say Iran and Iraq were brothers when hundreds of tousands were killed fighting each other. Everyday your muslim brothers kill other muslims or there so called brothers. Just for the hell of it. Thats just what your religion is based on. KILLING PEOPLE regardless of there wisdom, religion or what they believe in. The time is here all you true americans. Educate your children about people like Mohmoud and his so called muslim brother countries. The time is here for all you true americans to stand up for what you believe and FIGHT FOR YOUR COUNTRY (US), There is not to much time remaining for you and your families to get prepared. O lord almighty, you who examine the rightous and probe the heart and mind, LET ME SEE YOUR VENGEANCE ABOUT THEM, FOR TO YOU I HAVE COMMITTED MY CAUSE.

I would take this threat very seriously. Unfortunately, it's almost as if they are daring the U.S. to do something - which would be awful because the Iranian people would suffer for it - and they're the ones who are pro-American and against the regime!

Posted by: Chaya at May 29, 2004 3:26 PM

They get one shot before the U.S. and Israel takes them out. We are allies with Israel. First response comes from them. When we respond, the rest is history. We will not go gentle into that goodnight. We will not cede our lives, liberty, faith, and heritage without a fight. If Iran wants a fight, Iran will get it and rue the day the opened the gates of hell and let loose the dogs of war. If Iran thinks that Iraq is a sample of what we can do, they're sorely mistaken. When we have finished with Iran, the Muslim world will beg for mercy and cry hold. We will not seek a battle with them as we are; as we are, we will not shun it.

i'm so glad i paid a visit to JW today, i will copy this article and circulate it around as many people here in the UK as possible, if you can, imagine people being angry as hell and pissing themselves laughing at the same time, when they read of some pompous, deranged iranian buffoon threatening to take us over ! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! i suppose this dickhead thinks his god is going to catch all our missiles as they rain down on his shit-holey sites ! i have long come to the conclusion that all these creatures are insane in the true sense of the word, but this is one of their best rants yet, keep 'em coming dickheads, every rant counts. Many young Iranians are questioning, even leaving, Islam.

A number of them are calling for an 'ethnic cleansing' of Iran, the elimination of that Tazi influence known as Islam.

Posted by: abad at May 29, 2004 10:50 PM

Yeah I think the Iranian kids are tired of getting beaten up and tortured by hired thugs from Palestine, Lebanon and Syria. They'll get their revenge on the mullahs eventually.

The mad mullahs do not have the respect of their own people. A regime without support is ripe to fall.

Political transformation is essential for world peace. The process has begun in Afghanistan and Iraq. It is no time to back down or just stop trying. To the contray, political transformation must be pushed forward to derail long term planning by nations such as Iran.

The present thinking is that a democratic Iraq will influence Iran into an implossion to be superceded by an Iraqi style democracy. I agree with sentiments here that a more agressive and direct response to the Iranian threat is warrented.

My earlier comments notwithstanding, this is what really worries and disturbs me about the worlds situation today, that someday one or other of these "holy warriors" is going to perpetrate a nuclear or biological/chemical attack of truly horrendous proportions on who knows which "unbelievers". The resulting response to that would be even more horrendous for the recipients. How could it be otherwise, could any western government sit back and bleat about "building bridges" and "UN involvement" if tens of thousands of their citizens were massacred in one outrage? I seriously doubt it, and i am constantly baffled and amazed that so many of the islamic posters on this site are more interested in endless waffle about what allah or mohammed said or didn't say, or who invented this or that, than grabbing their "holy warrior" co-religionists by their collective throats and doing all they can to stop this lunacy NOW before the nightmare scenario i allude to does become a reality.

Posted by: ultach at May 30, 2004 10:18 AM

ultach:

Muslims don't care how many die, on either side. They have said that they value death, not life. Any Muslims killed will go to Paradise (so it's like doing them a favor, as long as it's done as a result of jihad), and they fully expect a cataclysmic world war in order to fulfill the establishment of the Islamic Caliphate. They are indifferent to the number of casualties and the amount of destruction, no matter how horrific, as long as it accomplishes that goal.

Even the so-called "moderate" Muslims who don't actively seek these events have been taught that they are going to happen anyway, it's inevitable, so they'd better be on the "right side" when the time comes. They are powerless to overcome the indoctrination they've had since birth on the "inevitability" of what is to come, consequences be damned. It would be a mistake to look for "reason" from such a community.

Posted by: CGW at May 30, 2004 10:38 AM

CGW - It really is a sad thought isn't it, that so many people can turn their backs on life and all the wonderful things it has to offer to everyone, even with all its problems and hardships that everyone has to face to varying degrees.

I recall a quote from T.S.Elliot that seems so chillingly relevant now, "I did not realise death had undone so many" I believe it's from "The Wasteland", even the title is incredibly apt.

You actually think we can invade Iran just because they develop Nuclear weapons? Give me a break. Thats not how it works.
There is no way they would use them anyway, because they know they would be decimated.
We have no power to stop them from having them, mostly because our idiot President lied that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, when he knew that it didn't have any.
Now the United Nations would pretty much have to try and stop us if we played that card again, even if Iran actually had them.

dear all
hi
first of all that article is not policy of iranian and muslims. I do not know most likely is a fake story. Muslim does not like killing. Acording to Holy Quran every body is free to choose and if you kill an innocent people it means you kill all mankind. So every person love their country and love to defend it. If you love America also we Love our country and right to defend it. We American government attack country then ppl defend their country by any means. After w.WaRII american government attack many country and kill innocent ppl in name of american ppl. We know american ppl are civilised and hate killing but your government kill many in past in your name in Panama, korea, africa, palestine, Elsalvador, somalia, and many. American government gave many weapon to Sadam hussain and he kill many also they gave him chemical weapons to sadam to kill kurdish pppl. It is not just muslim hate some ppl in american Government but non-muslim do hate them. I hope we live in a world with no killing and all mankind love one another regardless of race, religion, nationality.
yours
