I just flew back to the US from another country last Tuesday, and security still seemed lax at the departure point. Of course, the US has no direct control over that, but surely some sort of efforts could be made. Meanwhile, security is, at least according to this report, stepping up efforts stateside. WASHINGTON (AP) - The federal official in charge of the nation's airports said Friday security has been "stepped up a notch" in the face of renewed terror warnings this holiday weekend and said authorities are asking the public to be vigilant."If they see anything unusual, report it - an unattended package, something that just doesn't look right, even odd behavior in the terminal or on the aircraft," FAA Administrator Marion Blakey said on NBC's "Today" show.
She said photographs of seven suspected terrorists released Wednesday by the FBI "are everywhere" and that screeners have been redeployed to some of the busiest airports in anticipation of heavy Memorial Day holiday travel.

I'm not surprised. I travel a bit, and all the federal security people at the airports I saw, seemed relaxed, polite & very aware. Here's hoping it's enough.
Posted by: Tim at May 29, 2004 8:20 AMThis after a report on the local news last week that they are going to cut back on the hours of the screeners at SeaTac. But, they said, this won't inconvenience travelers, at least not until they are blown out of the sky.

I will tell you this, I do not fear death and will not go out without a fight if something does happen, I would be happy to die as a PATRIOT for my country and for what we stand for. DO NOT FEAR DEATH, WHEN YOUR NUMBER IS CALLED DEATH WILL FIND YOU FEARED OR NOT. BRING DEATH TO YOUR EMEMIES AND MAKE THEM FEAR YOU.

I know how you feel. My wedding is in 5 weeks and the Best Man, my family and several relatives are flying into Canada for it. However they are Small planes.... that may still be something these idiots would go for tho. I will continue to be concerned until the end of July- and of course will Always be concerned until this problem is dealt with.

The whole world had to change its traveling plans,financials and schedules because of the muslim fanatics....people are afraid to travel by plane,train,boat,people are afraid to drive through tunnels ,over bridges and next to government buildings,people are afraid to go abroad and they are afraid to stay home,people are afraid to attend public events and they are afraid to practice their religion(if other than islam)...the whole world has been taken hostage by these muslim fanatics...and we still insist on being politically corect,we still call islam a religion of peace,american cities are changing their noise ordinances to allow muslims to call to prayer using loudspeakers,american schools are changing their dress codes to allow muslims to wear their religious gear,american public places have special prayer rooms for muslims,american goverment workers will be able to officially celebrate muslim holidays(in other words muslim holidays will be forced upon us,until they will become part of our heritage and further down the road,will slowly become dominant)...what the hell is wrong with us?!
Does the civilized world have such a suicidal urge that they are willing to allow their deadly enemy to practice sharia law as an alternative to the law of the land?!(Canada)...
While our government is spending billions of dollars to fight these muslim fanatics at home and abroad,our borders are still open for them.
While we have not yet aknowledged that we are in a war with the militant islam and at stake is the very survival of the western world,our schools are teaching islam to our children.
It looks like this is a hopeless battle and by the time we are going to wake up from the current stupor,it will be way too late....we should better start fighting this battle the right way,or get ready to wear shalwars,turbans and burqas,and face Mecca 5 times a day.
