"While many of us will be blessed to live a longer life, few of us will ever live a better one," — John McCain
FORT BRAGG, N.C. (AP) - Former pro football player Pat Tillman was "probably" killed by friendly fire as he led his team of Army Rangers up a hill during a firefight in Afghanistan last month, the U.S. Army said Saturday.
Just as the army that investigated Abu Ghraib way back in January, now they have investigated Tillman's death and issued a public report.
Such transparency conflicts with the fevered imaginings of those who think Bushitler and Ashcroft are rounding up dissenters and dragging them to the Ministry of Love, while shadowy neo-cons fling truth down the memory hole.

I had a strong feeling about this, Its sad that this happened to such a great American at the hands of another American or part of the afgan army, but this is war and great Americans die in wars. It does not change the fact that he died as a PATRIOT FOR MY COUNTRY, HE DID NOT FEAR WHAT HE KNOW COULD HAPPEN TO HIM. thank you pat tillman I will never forget you as an AMERICAN PATRIOT, I WISH EVERY AMERICAN HAS THE MID SET AT THIS GREAT GUY, JEREMIAH 20:12
Posted by: DeathToTheJihad at May 29, 2004 10:38 AMHere's to Pat Tillman... a true American and Patriot. We will not soon forget you.
Posted by: Anonymous at May 29, 2004 11:11 AMIt don't see how this changes a thing. Much more unfortunate? Yeah. Does it diminish what Tillman and everyone else that has died in war has sacrificed? Nope.
I personally feel badly for whomever may have killed him. Can you imagine the kind of hell you'd go through knowing that you inadvertently killed one of your own? That's who receives my pity.
Posted by: Hank Scorpio at May 29, 2004 11:22 AMVery, very sad. Unfortunately, this happens in every war. He will not be forgotten as schools and libraries are named after him.
Posted by: Chaya at May 30, 2004 5:15 AMAlthough you KNOW this patriotic soldier's name, forget not all the thousands of other patriotic young men and women who have given themselves in the defense of man's God-given* inalienable rights.
Just because he turned down a "sweet deal", it doesn't somehow elevate him to a higher status. His sacrifice is no more deserving of our praise; or, in this case, scrutiny, than any other hero.
"All men are created equal", although not all men understand this concept equally. Pat understood! Do you??
*Please be aware - I know the difference between the God of men and the Allah (created by Mohammed in his own image) of the satanists.

YOU ARE 100% CORRECT WITH THIS ONE, LET US NOT FORGET EVERY PATRIOT WHO HAS GIVEN UP THERE LIVES LIKE PAT DID, THEY ARE ALL PATRIOTS WHO GAVE UP MORE THAT MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO DIE FOR YOU AND THIS GREAT COUNTRY, I WISH EVERY AMERICAN THOUGHT THE SAME WAY THESE LADIES AND GENTLEMEN DID,
GOD ALMIGHTY SAVE A SPOT AT YOUR TABLE FOR THESE BRAVE PATRIOTS FOR TO YOU THEY WILL NOW FIGHT AND PROTECT WHAT YOU STAND FOR.
Probably is the key word. It was a firefight, in difficult terrain. There is no way of knowing, unless ballistics tests are done, if available. That would be my only guess as to why they would even come out and make this statement. Nonetheless, Pat was a true patriot. Along with the other 799 soldiers that have lost their lives. I salute each and every one of them!
Posted by: Tango5 at May 30, 2004 6:04 PMPat Tillman was too great of a warrior to be taken out by Taleban types. Only a fluke or mistake could bring him down.
In my life I have heard a lot of trash about how today's pro atheletes do not measure up to say the ones drafted into WWII.
Well Pat Tilman disproves all of that. No WWII era athelete gave up millions of dollars to fight for their country the way he did. Money meant nothing to him when it came to serving the American people. He would not bake down from death either. His life and dedication proved that.
I will always remember Pat Tillman as a Great American Warrior. His spirit will touch us from the other side and inspire us on to crush the evil jihad now upon us. His fight continues with us.
Wesley
pat tillman is a true patriot, who died fighting for his country. even tho he was probably killed by friendly fire, he is still a hero for forfeiting millions of dollars to serve.
thank God that he died fighting bravely in a just war that eliminated a dangerous terrorist cell, ie.afghanistan, rather than in a war that is utterly pointless and costs the lives of american soldiers and iraqi civilians, and serves no purpose, ie.iraq.
i respect and mourn for the soldiers killed in iraq, but their deaths were futile. not since vietnam has america been involved in such a useless war, and the worst thing is that we started it.
also, some people on this thread are apparently very racist against muslims and think that they are satanists, when they are in fact generally good people who worship the same God as Christians and Jews.
r.i.p. pat tillman, and may God bless your soul.
