As can be seen , Pakistan is growing into a more dangerous state by the month. Sadly, the Bush Administrations response to this growing threat is to forgive billions and billions in debt and back them to the fullest with billions in aid and even military assistance. One CANNOT stop a jihad while fully backing and supporting it.

I think you're right, but I'm not sure if anti-depressants are the right choice. Anti-psychotic medication such as Thorazine and Haldol would probably be beneficial in many cases.

Crucial to its destiny, Pakistan’s smack in the middle of a nuclear neighbourhood: India and China are armed with nukes, with US, Russian and Israeli warheads easily within distance of it as well. Iran, next door, is rapidly building up an arsenal of A-bombs and, till a year or so ago, Iraq, in addition, was headed on a path that soon would’ve given it nuclear weapons.

The possession of nukes affords Pakistan a disproportionate voice in the region; the US goes gently with the Pakistani Government because of the fear that should it be replaced by one that’s not friendly with Washington, up to 60 atomic devices - plus the plant to construct many more - will fall into the hands of Jihadis (of whom there are PLENTY in Pakistan).

Therefore, Washington’s been reluctant to publicly accept India as its full Ally in the “War on Terror”, lest it “provoke” these militant Islamists in Pakistan, or to make any big deal out of the lengthy nuclear-proliferation career of Pakistan’s Dr A. Q. Khan.

A further reason for America’s pronounced hesitancy to look critically into Islamabad’s nuclear weapons industry is that it’ll immediately (and embarrassingly) come to the fore that the development of Pakistan’s nuclear arms has been funded to the hilt, for decades, by the House of Saud - the US State Department’s particular darling, for half a century.

What a can of worms! In effect, for ages, Pakistan, Nth Korea, Iran - and once upon a time, Iraq and Libya - (all to differing degrees) were assisting one another to nuclearize, with Russia, China and France providing technical backing and Saudi Arabia financing the main conduit, Pakistan.

If Pakistan’s President, General Pervez Musharaf, is truly the Kemalist he claims to be, then a “peace of mutual deterrence” with India will be formally established, while radical Islamism will be stamped out in Pakistan. If not, the Jihadis will eventually take over his country, seizing its scores of nukes for use in atomic blackmail and terrorism, as they dream of doing.

If I didn't know better, which I hope I do, I would swear that the world has somehow turned into a re-make of Monty Python's Life of Brian, brought up to the year 2004 and re-named the Life of Abdul.

Musharraf is a clean-shaven jihadist. After september 11, he had a 'change of mind' and not a 'change of heart'. Pakistan's institutions are incapable of producing a kemalist (least of all its military or ISI which has groomed Musharraf so carefully). They are suit wearing clean shaven jihadists.
If you think otherwise pray tell me a terrorist that is not holed up in Pakistan or does not have support structures in Pakistan ?

It only remains to be seen who will call off Musharraf's bluff and a marvellous juggling act first - America or Lashkar - e - tayyaba. I will put my money on Lashkar getting rid of Miyan Musharraf first. America will continue to think that a failed Pakistan will somehow become India's problem. Atleast, until all hell breaks loose. How much more failed can Pakistan become before all hell breaks loose ? Till then, it allows a unique opportunity for the rest of world capitals from Beijing to Paris to Washington to chide both India and Pakistan that 'Isnt it better for India and Pakistan to stop fighting' with no reference to Jihad or terrorism.

Pakistanis (atleast Musharraf type of clean shaven jihadists) who think only in terms of muslims and non-muslims will not go beyond targeted terrorism against India lest it damage India's secularism too much. India will not currently go beyond whining about terrorism or brinkmanship (if terrorism becomes unbearable) without a clear end game in sight. The risks are too high.

The game will continue until the prophet length beard sporting jihadists overthrow the clean shaven jihadists after being fed up with trying to be deceptive about their intentions and waiting too long. They will call curtians. Then the real 'Day after tomorrow' will be released. Till then and until then friends let us each continue the sham and let us focus on Iran and Iraq and Syria and North Korea and Cuba and Zimbabwe and ... What else can we do anyway ?
