Iranians sign up as suicide bombers

Why is it so easy to get people to sign up? Why won't American Muslim spokesmen move beyond "the Qur'an forbids suicide" and answer that question? From AFP, with thanks to Twostellas:

TEHRAN: Hundreds of Iranian men and women, even children, declared their willingness to carry out suicide attacks in Iraq and Israel following Friday prayers in Tehran.

The "volunteers" signed their names and gave their telephone numbers to an obscure group calling itself the Committee for the Commemoration of Martyrs of the World Islamic Movement.

A spokesman, Mohammad Yasser Samadi, said the action was to "show our friends in Iraq and all other Muslims that we are ready to give our lives to defend our honor.

"Suicide operations are the best way to fight the oppressors and they have already shown their worth in Lebanon and during the war between Iran and Iraq," he said, referring to the neighbours' bloody 1980-88 conflict.

However, there was no evidence the action was anything more than symbolic, and Samadi said they would renounce suicide operations if asked to by supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

As far as I know, there is no sign that he has asked them to yet.

Good, now we have their names on a LIST. An actual suicide sign-up sheet! It shouldn't be too hard to get a copy of that. Too bad that the REAL terrorists don't do us the same favor.

Everyone:

I'm going to repeat my assertion that most of you are seriously neglecting Dhimmi Watch. There are several good articles today that bear commenting upon (sorry to end with a prepositon, but it sounded even more awkward the other way).

Another proof for your rotted lies.

Our Muslim brothers and sisters in Iran are behind us and they are supporting us whether they can.

Posted by: Mahmoud at May 30, 2004 11:45 AM

Mahmoud -- supporting you for what? Where were all those great Muslim brothers and sisters when Sadaam was murdering hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, jailing, maming and torturing Iraqis... Sitting on there fat Oil-rich asses. That's where. Now instead of being grateful.. all you people can do is say death to America... Tell me, where do you live.... the US or somewhere else. If you are in the US ... and Don't like the US then get out and stay out...

Emily

Supporting them for genocide against non-Muslims. It's us who has to get out of Arabia, or we get our throats slit. But if we don't allow them to build mosques in the West and bellow their prayer calls over PA systems, it's us who are the bigots and racists. Hypocrisy and double-standards are the air they breathe.

"Iranians sign up as suicide bombers"

Suicide bomber? Now there is a career choice that would make your mother proud.

Reza, Mahmoud, and any other of that ilk reading,

I must say, I continue to be inspired by the sterling examples of muslim bravery, leadership & kindness I read about and see examples of. (NOT!)
You and your kind claim you are for peace, and that your religion forbids suicide, murder and whatnot...yet with every disgusting act your brothers & sisters perpetrate, we see the real truth. What you ARE, what you STAND FOR, is so loud, I can't hear your propaganda...
We have TWO examples in the recent past history of our planet, on what works to combat social, judicial and religious intolerance...I refer to Dr. M.L. King, and M. Ghandi. Odd, I've never heard of ANY palestinian, Iraqi or otherwise even attempting a peaceful, concerted, deliberatly non-violent campaign to sieze moral high ground in your conflicts...only cruelty, hate and rage..mostly directed at people who can't defend themselves.
Prove me wrong...boycott Israeli jobs with no violence...refuse to ride Israeli buses...(and stop blowing them up)have sit ins at lunch counters, and REFUSE to strike back when assaulted, let the camera's see that...how long do you think the world would allow unmerited abuse like that...but the kind you defend can't do that...they are too in love with their own cruelty.

Tim - not much chance of that i guess, can you really imagine the world of islamic fundamentalism producing men of the moral character and dignity of such as the Reverend King and Gandhi ?

In the islamic fundamentalists view those two examples of the very best of humanity would be considered as mere unbelievers and infidels, isn't that a shocking thought for any sane person to consider ?

the reason the american muslims do not critizes the suicide operations is very simple; thay believe in them and will not stop the killing of infadel, nonmuslims in any country. nerver trust a muslim.

If it wasnt for the US presence in the balkans there would have been mass genocide and not a single muslim in eastern europe now, the muslims of the world should be kissing your feet not killing your people, ingrateful is what they are, spoilt by the west

Hmmm...I seem to recall the Taliban making a big show of recruiting Jihadists in Pakistan prior to the start of the war in Afghanistan. These recruits made no difference in the outcome of the war as the Taliban was quickly swept from power.
The combination of the rag-tag Northern Alliance, a few hundred US special forces soldiers and 1500 pound bombs proved to be too much for the Jihadists, who were foolish enough to attempt to fight a 21st century war with 14th century tactics. Muslims have an uncanny ability never to be able to learn from the mistakes of the past, but then what else is new.

**I guess you're right there. Apples and Sour Persimmons. Sad that they don't even seem to have a real framework to do so.

**LOL, Yes indeed. Ghandi was killed (Big shock) by a Muslim...and Ghandi forgave him as he lay dying! Only thing I see Muslims doing as they die around others is attempting to harm as many other people as possible...kinda tells you who the real 'boss' is, yes?

Very true! Watch "Behind Enemy Lines." and see a part of the truth...Even better choice is "The Savior" Both good movies, one non-fict, one fiction...
We help them beat the Ruskies, we give aid, we knock down Saddam...but, you are expecting them to act civiized and moral...hell, they're barely out of the pastoral economy, certainly NOT the pastoral mindset. I forget the site, but some agency had good numbers of IQ's and the pervasive drop due to vitamin defecits and malnutrition...not surprisingly, third world countries had some of the worst numbers...is that the problem I wonder? they're just not capable of rational, higher thought?

The invasion of Iraq came just in time for these zombies. Years of diligently slaughtering the indigenous Ba'hai and Zoroastrians has left a chronic shortage of victims in Iran, and the arrival of coalition troops across the border saved them from a spiritual crisis of truly Koranical proportions.

Posted by: Infidel23 at June 1, 2004 3:54 AM

Mahmoud,

could you please explain how Iranians blowing up themselves along with Iraqi civilians, slowing down economic growth and delaying an American exit, qualifies as support for the Iraqi people?

Posted by: Bob Owens at June 1, 2004 11:55 AM

still waiting...

Posted by: Bob Owens at June 1, 2004 2:30 PM

Western world and USA will still give them immigration. As a Pakistani Christian, I think its a big mistake to give muslims immigration, its like having a pet cobra hoping it would not bite knowingly how dangerous it is.

Posted by: Sammy Jabareen at June 1, 2004 3:58 PM

These idiot volunteer Muslims are only a tiny fraction of Iranians who are called Basiji or Pasdar (Islamic militia). Iranians are leaving Islam in thousands everyday. There are many Iranians who campaign for an Iran free from Islam. We don't like to be politically correct and we say that it is ridiculous to call Islam the religion of peace. I hope that people recognize the difference in the West.
