Here are 1.7 metric tons of radioactive material that won't find their way into dirty bombs detonated in New York City. From the BBC, with thanks to Richard:
Along with 1.77 tons of enriched uranium, about 1,000 "highly radioactive sources" were also removed.The material was taken from a former nuclear research facility on 23 June, after being packaged by 20 experts from the US Energy Department's secret laboratories.
It was flown out of the country aboard a military plane in a joint operation with the Department of Defense, and is being stored temporarily at a Department of Energy facility.

I know it is not enriched plutonium, but still, consider the economic Mess it would have made, if someone had ground this stuff up to dust and dumped it from a low-flying airplane. Over crops, over small towns, over water supplies...
If that doesn't count as a WMD, I don't know what would.

I knew we would find this sh-t now if we can get on with Iran before they put thiers in a missle? Heard a guy on fox last week talking about brit intell that says they never opened their airport in may because they had a big spill they cant clean up sounds like the same time that they were bringing those syians back from N.Korea??

According to this link on Glenn Reynold's Instapundit, this stuff is possibly stored in a facility my four-year old could defeat.
That's just we need! Transport it here for them, and store it at a place with less security than the local Circle K.
