This just in from AP, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:
MINNEAPOLIS - A woman was arrested after attempting to board a flight en route to Syria with more than $24,000 in cash hidden in her clothes, officials said Tuesday.Amneh Ahmad Abbas, 49, a Syrian citizen who lives in New Orleans, was charged Monday with trying to evade currency reporting requirements, the U.S. Attorney's office said. She was ordered held without bail.
The U.S. Attorney's office declined to comment on whether Abbas, who has permanent resident status in the United States, is suspected of involvement in terrorist activity. However, the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force was taking part in the investigation.
The United States has imposed trade sanctions on Syria on grounds the Arab state was allegedly supporting terrorism.

Gee, I guess that's why they wear those burlap sacks that they call clothes........it would be tough to stuff $24,000 into a mini-skirt & halter top!

again i ask: just what in hell is a syrian citizen with permanent residency doing in my country?
think of me as a dim bulb for always reciting this refrain, but "WE ARE SOWING THE SEEDS OF OUR OWN DESTRUCTION" by not eliminating muslim immigration.
considering the context of immigration, and our patent inability to stop illegal influx,i believe we need to totally cease all immigration here for at least ten years. we need to assess our citizenry status to a far greater extent than we have to date.
i'm a paranoid at heart, folks, but they're gonna get us and there's nobody with the culyones in government who will stop them.

drisnya you are right to be paranoid. I said on 9/11/01 that we need to do 3 things in this country. Shut down the borders hard, NOBODY gets in. Start drilling for oil in Alaska. Then carpet bomb everything east of Israel. The survival of our society as we know it depends on our ability to eliminate islam. Does anyone have the culyones get it done? I hope so.

Is it not possible that this poor woman was just trying to get a small sum of money to her family in Syria, where the people are suffering cruely under the American "sanctions"? I predict that the corrupt, racist American "justice" system will confiscate all of this poor woman's money and turn her out into the street.
Your grandchildren will be Muslim.

I'm definitely pretty anti-arabist and right-wing... but to be honest (until evidence comes up) I think that this woman was probably just trying to smuggle in money to help her family in syria... as much as I believe the U.S. must burn the regimes in syria and iran the ppl their are generally good... unlike their pro-terror ilk in egypt, saudi arabia and of course the Palestinians... who should be classified by the State Department as a terror group... NOT just the P.A. (which only handles the finances of terror), but rather the "Palestinians" as a whole

So Reza, how did your "poor" woman get $24,000 cash?
And you forgot to blame Israel too for Syria's suffering. Because, of course, Islam with all it's silly rules has never caused any suffering.
My grandchildren will be Catholic.

Hey, what happened to your Islamic Banks! Surely this woman could trust an Islamic Bank run according to Sharia Law?? In answer to REZA'S usual whine, if this Dame is so poor what is she doing with $24,000. Have enough trouble scraping up $2,000 for spending money when I go on holiday...

Idea for that $24,000 aborted from being sent to Syrian (probably to terror causes): Give it to those who lost businesses after 9/11/01. "There ought to be a law!"
That amount would just about pay off my NYC business debts, after 9/11. What say ye all?

Reza wondered helplessly, spinning his mental wheels "Is it not possible that this poor woman was just trying to get a small sum of money to her family in Syria, where the people are suffering cruely under the American "sanctions"? I predict that the corrupt, racist American "justice" system will confiscate all of this poor woman's money and turn her out into the street."
No, not possible. Try to stay with me on this one. Logic would suggest, I know there are concepts alien to the arabic language and this is probably one, but logic means using your brain to figure things out, okay? that if this lovely Syrian deb was just trying to get money to her unfortunate relatives she could have simply wired the $ via Western Union. See, Reza, HIDING IT is the clue that she was doing something illegal. If she was honest and above board, she would have nothing to hide.
I know it's hard, but keep asking the questions and we'll help as we can.
As for the American justice system turning her out on the street, let's compare the small chance of that happening to what the Taliban would have done to her if they found her with such funds. I think a bullet thru her head in front of cheering men in a soccer stadium would probably be more likely.
We're all just here to learn. ;-) Next question?

I agree with Webo.

Let's hope the street this criminal is tossed out into is in Syria, not America. Deport her azz. And yes, the money that we confiscate should go to the families of the 9/11 victims, since it was Muslims that murdered 3000 people on that day.
Muslims are feeling the heat. The game is on, Islamists........The past couple of weeks has been better than anytime in the past year. Criminal Muslims are being rounded up, and our streets are cleaner with a better aroma because of it....Ahhh the sweet smell of success.

I'm sure that there will be a lot of complaint from muslims next time muslim women will be searched a bit more vigorously.
