Muslims in the West seem to lose control of themselves and go on a rampage, killing any infidel the vicinity. From the DC snipers to the man reading a koran on a street bench, suddenly knifing a couple of women passers by, this is a common occurence.

What we have to accept in the reality of today's world is that we all have to pull together, left and right to defeat the Jihad. As daughting and depressing as this may sound to some of you, the jihad CANNOT be defeated with out support of the worlds leftist.

I know the position of the left in general is overall pathetic, but a new poll must arise among it to oppose the jihad. A foundation of such a poll can be found in classical Marxist-materialist philosophy. A concept , it's self since abandoned by the left in favor of political correctness.

George W Bush with his grand vision of America spreading freedom and democracy to the mid-east is ironically , the closest exspression to that concept found in the world of politics today.

The left , and socialist in general , have degenerated into an " anit-ipearlist " critique as pioneered by V.I. Lennin that favors and gives sympathy to the lesser developed nations. But is a clear departure from Marx's critiqe that the developed nations , with it's highy developed working class, is the driving force AND becon of hope of all of mankind.

The materialist concept of history is also the strongest arguement against religious fanaticism. And clearly the jihad falls , more so than any other event in world history as an exspression of religious fanaticism. I find it both odd and shocking that socialist and the left are now supporting the worst exspression of religious fanaticism in the world today!

None the less, the left will return to logic and that will mark the crushing of the jihad. As it now stands George W. Bush is the leading proponet of Karl Marxist materialist conception of history.
That will change in time as leftist rediscover their historic role in advancing human events.

I agree with you that 'left' and 'right' or whatever, is irrelevant, as long as the 'position' (whatever it is, it does not deserve to be called an 'ideology') does not deny our most basic freedoms.

But all the talk about ideas, materialist conceptions of history, policy, philosophy, what does it matter when it comes to what is most dear and important?

I truly believe that only one thing matters: that we share aspiriations for a decent life.

Folks simply do not realize that something that fundamental is at issue, and I think it is a mistake (at least in current circumstances) to raise issues and ideas that can cloud, instinctive, true judgment. Folks must first feel the cornerstone with the soles of their feet.

Forget the politics, the theory, or whatever: simply remember that we wish our children to live, and have choices, and the possibility of a life that they could call their own.

That is all we need to know that we must fight.
