U.S. officials are probing the possibility the al-Qaida terrorist network sought to infiltrate a Texas company in order to contaminate ready-to-eat meals designated for the military.A high-ranking al-Qaida operative provided information leading authorities to nearly a dozen illegal immigrants working for the McAllen, Texas-based Wornick Co., the largest supplier of the meals, according to McAllen's The Monitor newspaper.
The firm that places the workers at Wornick has been charged with conspiring to make and use false employment eligibility verification forms.
U.S. Attorney Michael Shelby explained, "Immediately after the liberation of Afghanistan from the Taliban in 2002, U.S. forces on the ground received specific information that links McAllen, Texas, by name and the Wornick facility by name to information within al-Qaida's possession."
The Texas paper noted the Department of Defense has a $67 million contract with Wornick to produce the meals.
Armed with the al-Qaida operative's information, the FBI was led to an employee-placement firm, Remedy Intelligent Staffing in McAllen, which referred a number of workers to Wornick.
"There had to be an investigation into the possibility that al-Qaida had the intention of infiltrating the Wornick Company for the purposes of contaminating -- possibly -- the MREs produced by the company," Shelby stated, according to The Monitor.
Shelby said no contaminated meals have been found, but 10 temporary employees at Remedy, involved in all aspects of assembling the meals, were convicted in July on charges of stealing Social Security numbers.

Maybe the throngs of talented conspiracy "seers" need to turn their attention to the armies of radical Muslims instead of the rival political party??
Or maybe we have out "evolved" ourselves? Maybe in all our civilized glory we are unable to defend against the ruthless and barbaric?
Maybe History will determine that those with the most depraved minds and a total lack of morals and ethics did win?

This is interesting. We have heard, of course, that a lot of activity was occuring under the radar, as far as interdiction of terrorists attempts. Are they now starting to let us in on some of what has been happening? And will the 'mainstream' media say one single word about it? Or will they continue to keep people uniformed?

Don't want to sound partisan, but it appears to me that the admin may probably be keeping such info secret in order to shield itself from charges that it's using intelligence info as a campaign tool.
I say that's unsound. If security related info needs to get to the public, it must, whether or not there's an election going on.

So they want to poison our soldiers....seems a stupid move for muslims that rely on infidels for their own food, cant grow enough food to feed their masses in their own backward countries....I am certainly not suggesting that we poison them...but maybe a little something to render the cockroaches sterile....after all isnt their biggest accomplishmet that they outbreed the infidels 5 to 1.

Protecting the food and water supply is paramount, but so is protecting the borders. Some illegals come to work with good intentions, and others, even though they may not be Islamists, have evil intentions and can be easily recruited to wreck havoc.
All countries should have knowledge of who is within its borders. In times of war we must put the country's security ahead of personal privacy.
The problem is that most people don't understand that we are at war. The see the "war on terrorism" not as a problem with Islamic jihad, but as construct of partisan politics. In the same light, the "War in Iraq" is both mis-labled and misunderstood by most of us, as it is ONY ONE BATTLE in the greater war against Islamic jihad.

American leaders have to get their heads out of their stodgy behinds and start getting creative.
We can never underestimate purpose-driven, deep pocketed Muslims. And illegal aliens certainly couldn't care less about Americans. They probably recieved an offer $$ they couldn't refuse. Their plan is multi-tiered and layered like a roll of toilet paper.
Imagine the havoc a few well placed individuals in the restaurant, grocer, bottled water, natural food snacks(open barrels), or food (baby food) industry could create? Pay someone enough money and they become intentionally infected with hepatitis or any other contagion.

Bar~ always remember, if you are arguing elsewhere: Never allow the Left to argue that Internment=Concentration. And remind them that quite a few interned the US during WW II were Europeans. We had one such camp in Pennsylvania, mostly all Germans.

As we are human, we can be just as ruthless and barbaric as the Islamic enemy. Earlier today, I was wondering why flame throwers are not being used to eradicate infested structures, reducing casualties on our side. The image of blazing jihadists was not entirely abhorrent.
The difference beween us and them is that we are governed by an un-Islamic moral code that keeps us from being more ruthless than necessary to protect ourselves.
The difference between us and them is that we do not revel in their agonies and death. We do not tear out internal organs, parade with body parts, cut off heads with dull edged implements, mutilate dead bodies in any fashion, celebrate when they die at our hands. We have no joy in their deaths.
That we do not weep when when they die at our hands does not make us unfeeling. When it is either us or them, we must decide who wants to die and take the appropriate action.

A 67 million dollar contract to make and package meals;yet they rely on sleazy employment agencies to provide low wage workers with no benefits(or green cards for that matter). Yet the Ceo and the rest of the shall we say staff rake in the big bucks.I would hope they would audit the books of this fine establishment, levy some heavy duty fines and incarcerate the big guys for their part in such ignorance.

Set pigs on a spit in front of the infestation. Then set several flame throwing vehicles in front of the pigs directed at the buildings. While the pigs are cooking so are the Islamofacist terrorists. After 5 hours at 550 degrees the meal is ready to be served.

What makes me feel a bit uncomfortable is the way that Muslims increasingly involved in catering.
Not just in their kebab shops, balti houses and curry cabins but now in fish and chip shops and pizza joints.
The thing is can you be sure that something isn't being put into our food in some of these places?
Some of those who feel compelled to wage jihad could be adding some slow and irreversable poison such as lead to our meals and takeways.
How can be be sure that there aren't any establishments where this is going on?
I can't prove it but these days I feel more relaxed eating at outlets run by local English people, Chinese or Thai.
Just a thought.

The cases have miltary writing like you would expect: "MEAL, READY-TO-EAT,INDIVIDUAL."
The only problem is there's a huge crescent moon on the otherwise stark military box. There is no explanation.

Why are our borders with Canada and Mexico so vulnerably "porous". Our enemies are pouring in like water through a sieve. It is ridiculous.
If a nation cannot defend its own borders then you get what you get.

How would you secure the borders? Fences don't work. They go through fences all the time on the southern border. Maybe something like the great wall of China would work but there is no way in hell we would ever do that.
IDs, profiling, aggressive inforcement of immigration laws, zero tolerence ... that might help some ... man what can you do?

I would propose the use of the tried and true method of "the sting" operation. The enemy, being the rat like individuals that they are, could be "baited" and then hauled in by the carload. The law abiding citizens should NOT be hassled by govt with id cards and implants and Stalinesque policies. That's bogus. That's just about control.
What we spend "chasing" the vermin could be spent luring them into our traps. Cost effective and would produce lots of vermin.
I say we take our cues from the pest control professionals. They catch a lot of rodents with just a little bit of cheese.
Think about it.
Agents have been begging to implement this type of strategy but Washington won't hear of it. Ever wonder why?
Because the illegals vote. They have been doing so for years now. Both parties need/want the illegal vote to stay in power. As long as the two party system is all about keeping the Whitehouse instead of defending the nation, things are going to get worse before they get better.
