Sunni/Shiite Jihad: Two Blasts Kill at Least 39 in Pakistan

From AP, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm, who notes that Ahmad Ludhianvi says below: "This is the worst kind of terrorism." Asks Mr. Imm: "When Muslims are killed; apparently other types of terrorism not as bad?" Apparently not; we have seen this in the past, most notably with the Saudi bombings, as well.

MULTAN, Pakistan (AP) -- Two bombs planted in a car and motorcycle exploded at a gathering of Sunni Muslim radicals in central Pakistan before dawn Thursday, killing at least 39 people and wounding about 100 others. Police suspected it was a sectarian attack.

About 2,000 angry Sunnis gathered outside a hospital where victims of the explosions in the city of Multan were taken, shouting "Shiites are infidels!" and slogans against the government, witnesses said.

The bombings came less than a week after a suicide attack left 31 dead at a Shiite mosque in an eastern city.

About 3,000 people had gathered in a residential area of Multan to mark the anniversary of the death of the leader of the outlawed Sunni radical group Sipah-e-Sahaba killed in an attack last year.

A car bomb exploded near the venue as people were starting to disperse after the overnight meeting, and two minutes later a second bomb attached to a motorcycle went off, deputy city police chief Arshad Hameed said.

"It seems to be an act of sectarian terrorism, but we are still investigating," he told The Associated Press....

A leader of the group blamed Thursday's bombings on radical Shiite Muslims.

"This is the worst kind of terrorism, and everybody knows who is behind it," said Ahmad Ludhianvi, the head of Sipah-e-Sahaba.

Muslims aren't genetically (memetically?) programmed to accept peace, even when they come to dominate an unfortunate land (as has happened in Pakistan).

Muslims have one simple solution to things and people they dont like - brand them non-muslim or even better, anti-muslim.

This is precisely what happened to the beleagured Ahmediya community who alos profess to worship allah but dont consider mohd. the final prophet. They;ve been hounded and persecuted ever since. The only Nobel laurate of Paki origin to my knowledge - Abdus Sattar - was disowned by pak coz he's Ahmediya.

Then you have the sunnis and the shias taking secret pleasure in bombing each other's mosques and shooting down worshippers who ironically haoppento be praying to the same god (noncapitalized 'g' in God intentional).

And then there are the Mohajirs , migrants from India, who're somehow tainted coz they came from india and are to be discriminated against. Then there are the Shias in the Northern territories, in a constitutional limbo since pak illegally annexed them in 1948....the list goes on but I can't. Shall close here.

But this is just a glimpse into the dynamic of islamic societies and their inherent intolerance to peaceful coexistence. It's not as if peace will reign if islam wins completely, it won't.

This is what I like to see ( no I don't mean muslims getting blown-up, although it does decrease our enemies number), but muslims actually critisizing islamic terrorism, and the muslims doing it. It's a shame it only ever seems to happen, with any degree of sincerity, when muslims are the victims of it.

This article also highlights the split throught the centre of the islamic world : Sunnis and Shi'ites .
It's nice to see a rivalry within their own ranks, and goes a long way in proving how messy the islamic world is. I mean , think about it if muslims did manage to get their wish of the islamic caliphate, there still wouldn't be peace ( I mean apart from the slaughter of apostates, gays, rebelious women, children who refused sex, women who voted, women who were raped ,women who commited adultry, and those that refused to convert to islam), their would be a civil war between sunnis and shi'ites!!! Throw that one back in the face of the next Reza wannabe who is convinced an islamic world would be a better one.

And I really must quote the most classic slogan of the day ; from this article:

"Shiites are infidels!"

....Priceless!!!

Imagine this as a full-scale rivalry in the United State, that between Hamas and the supporters of Israel as well as ALL OF THE OTHER rivalries in the Islamic world! For this reason alone we should halt the progress of Islam in the United States.

Incredible. Why don't we fund each side to destroy one another?

Sorry, please forget last comment. It's late at night, and I wasn't thinking straight.

Voltaire,

Good idea, or supply the nukes to fight each other with!!!

Thanks Rikki. If they only fought each other with them, that would be great.

Compare the differences between christianity and Islam.

With christianity, different interpretations of the bible have brought about splits in christianity.

With Islam, the split is based on who is supposed to be the successor of Mohammed, as though he was the beginning of a dynasty. And why would a prophet need to have a successor anyway?

Posted by: Voltaire [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 7, 2004 9:58 AM

Really nothing new here. The Sunnis, particularly the Whabbhist, really distain the Shiite branch. Literally hundrends of thousands Shiites owe their death to the Whabbist interpretation of the koran. Shrines have been destroyed over this.

In teh short-term, the Sunnis and Shiites will be "united" against the non-Muslim "invader" of Pan-Arab/Islam lands. However, old hatreds arise again.

Many muslim say many things in the conflicts between protestantism and catholicism in France, Holland, England or Germany but we see that Islam is worst, beacuse we have to remember, we are in the XXI century, Islam is killing itself in Pakistan, in Iraq, in Saudi Arabia, in Iran, in Sudan and other countries because the shiites, the blacks or other people are bad muslims,
It´s worst the ahmadis in Bangladesh, very worst.

It’s altogether possible I’ll have to apologize to myself for ignoring a lesson that was handed to me free of charge; a lesson that might illuminate the most important dark corner of the world today.

Years ago, it was common for Americans to chide the British for having no sense of humor. The ongoing joke was; there was a humor appreciation society in London that met every Monday to hear the latest jokes; and then regathered a week later to laugh; slow to get the point, don’t you see?
I’ve missed this particular point for fifteen years, and it’s no joke.
In 1989 the Serbian government invited me to Serbia on a fact-finding mission. That was long before 9/11; long before anyone ever heard of Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda.
They wanted western journalists to hear the Serbian side of the conflict in Kosovo. I truly think I was the only one who wanted to go. This was also before anybody heard of Kosovo. President Clinton’s NATO war against the Serbs because of their persecution of the Albanians in Kosovo came ten years later.
The Serbs consider the southern province of Kosovo the very crucible of their nationhood by virtue of an epic battle fought there in 1389 against the Turks.
The Turks won that battle, but the Serbs made that victory so expensive for the Turks that the battle became their defining national moment, nonetheless.
The Serbs made such a bad case that I came back pro-Albanian. (And that should be a lesson to those snooty journalistic ethicists who fear that a free hotel room, a few free meals, and a car and chauffer and constant guide-interpreter will necessarily sway a journalist’s opinion. Listen to my broadcasts from that era. The Serbs lost big with me.)
The Serbs started by telling me the Albanians were thugs, thieves, perverts, drug dealers, low-lifes, and sadists who tortured their victims by jamming glass bottles up their rectums and breaking them off, leaving the top part of the bottle inside.
Indeed, there was a famous case - famous in Serbia, anyway - of a Serb named Martinovich who allegedly got that awful treatment from his Albanian neighbors and was being treated in a London hospital; his lugubrious progress or lack thereof leading the news every day.
The Serbs accused the Albanians of trying to take over the province by guile. They said the Albanians would approach a Serbian farmer and make him an offer for his farm.
When the Serbian farmer declined, the Albanians would make another offer; one “he couldn’t refuse!” If he still didn’t agree to sell, a few of his animals would be found dead. If his refusal persisted, he and his family were next.
The Serbs took me to an open field in Kosovo where a widow, indeed, appeared by appointment and told such a tale, They then took me to a Serbian Orthodox convent in Kosovo and let me hear the testimony of the frightened nuns detailing all the threats from the surrounding Moslems.
As a cultural slam against the Albanians, admittedly an effective one, they then took me to a “kafeneya,” a huge coffee house in the capital of Pristina, in the mid-afternoon of a work day.
There were no fewer than five hundred Albanian men AND NOT ONE SINGLE ALBANIAN WOMAN! The Albanian culture deploys the women to the fields to do the work while the men debate weightier topics over coffee and cigarettes.
Next they took me to a school yard where about two-hundred and fifty screaming children were playing. Knowing I spoke a little Serbian, my government guide said, “Remember, this is Serbia. Go ahead. See how many of those children are Serbian.”
“Ko govori Srpski?” I yelled. (“Who speaks Serbian?”) Only about five of those children raised their hands.
Okay. The Albanians are taking over Kosovo. The Puerto Ricans took over east Harlem. The Jews took over Miami Beach. The Mexicans are taking over America’s southwest. The Swedes are taking over lush areas in western Finland. So what?
So this!
At dinner in Kosovo a Serbian official, exasperated with my American even-handedness, eventually exploded.
“Don’t you see what’s going on here?” he fairly yelled. “For these Muslems - our Kosovo Albanians and their religious brothers from across the Middle East - THE CRUSADES NEVER ENDED.
They are now trying to worm and weasel their way back into control of all Europe piece by piece, beginning right here in Serbian Kosovo.
“We are Christians,” said my Serbian host. “The rest of the west is supposed to be Christian, too. WHY IN HELL ARE YOU LETTING US FIGHT THIS FIGHT ALONE?“
I can only imagine how that wail loudened and sharpened during the Kosovo campaign when it was no longer “Why are you letting us fight this alone?” but rather, “Why are you dropping bombs on us as a favor to our common enemy?”
At the time my answer to “Why aren’t you helping us?“ was something like, “Because you’re being miserable to the Albanians and your claim that Albanian farm-grabbing represents another round of the Crusades is ludicrous.”
That was fifteen years ago; twelve years before 9/11. Is it possible that those Serbian claims which alternately entertained me and enraged me merit serious review?
When our family moved from the American north to the south I was five years old. It didn’t take more than two years before the southern-born boys my age began to work me over none-too-gently.
I learned I was a “Yankee” and there was a war which my side won; but it didn’t deserve to. “We got so tired of beating you and beating you and beating you we couldn’t fight any more,” one of them told me.
And the boys who were weren’t beating me or teaching me angry history were standing around yelling, “The South shall rise again!“
I didn’t know what they were talking about.
My northern cousins to this day don’t know what they were talking about. The winners in those things forget. The losers smoulder.
Is is possible that the Islamic world remembers the anguish of being pushed out of Europe while the victorious Christians forgot all about it before the end of the 1400s?
Might that possibly explain the mysterious silence of so many tens of millions of peaceful, non-Al Qaeda, non-jihadi Moslems regarding 9/11? (“Yes, it was terrible what Osama did to America, but perhaps it is just. The Crusades and our expulsion from our European lands must be avenged!”)
Forget that America was not yet discovered when Spain defeated the Moslems and was far from the important player when the Turkish Ottomans were defeated in 1918.
The leaders of the Christian West did it to the Moslems back then; so “logically” America, as the leader of the Christian West today, becomes the target for payback; at least to those who go in for that kind of logic!
Boxers and wrestlers can testify that their energy spikes in a fight when they see and feel their opponent weakening. Is it possible that this global Islamic uprising is energized by the sight of the galloping decadence of the West?
One mostly-nude blonde in a beer ad in Europe or America could easily convince those faithful to the ways of Islam that the once formidable “Crusaders” are finally on the ropes gasping for moral breath.
There’s no war as dangerous as one you had no idea you were in; even when angry Serbs with unclean hands try to tell you.

So now we have two groups of Muslims fighting each other because each believe that "THEIR" Allah is the real Allah.
Lets see how Mr.Hooper and CAIR explain away the violence as un-Islamic and it's not "True" Muslims killing each other.

NO ISLAM - KNOW PEACE

Barry Farber's reaction to the Serb's pleading when he went to Serbia in 1989 still prevails.

Except for a few christian organizations (but of course they are biased, since they are christians, right?), that is exactly the attitude of the west with regard to persecution that is going on in Indonesia. I know the frustration of the Serb who yelled at Farber. I feel like yelling too.

O.T., but note the absense of a post from Karl the Pacifist in response to this item. Seems he was at a loss for words regarding yesterday's item on DhimmiWatch that provided a concise analysis of 1400 of Islamic imperialism.

If he were a real troll like Reza, he'd have found something to say. Instead, I think KJ may have come very close to the truth -- ultra conservative christian of the Pat Buchanan mold, except for one thing: I cannot imagine Pat describing himself as a pacifist.

The Sunni-Shi'ah (Shi'at Ali--Party of Ali) has been a feature of Islam since the very first Islamic century. These and the Ibadis, a third sect which is now limited largely to Oman and some North African enclaves, plunged the Islamic world into civil war almost as soon as it was born. Hence, Muslim propaganda about unity and peace is simply propaganda to be swallowed by those ignorant of the history of the Middle East.

Interestingly enough, both Sunni and Shi'ah have numbers of hadith they can point to about who's right and who's wrong in the conflict.

Great Show !
I wanna see more of this. One suggestion, they should use nukes also.

Next time they should capture this on video too.
I'll be the first one to buy a copy of it.

To add to this, if the pigs believe they'll go to jannat by killing the 'infidels', why don't they first go and check whether there is any jannat at all? why don't they go and check whether there really are any virgins in that jannat? they might land up with 72 pigs instead.
But for this they will have to kill themselves. But I guess its worth.
Muhammad (pigs shit upon him) did not provide any insurance cover on this, did he?

I just wonder how long will it take for the sunnis in sipah e sahaba to strike back. All this sickening violence to decide who should have been the fourth caliph 1300 years ago ?
