Apes and pigs? I meant grapes and figs

Canadian Muslim leaders backpedal furiously, but not convincingly. From CBC News; link and headline courtesy Kemaste:

VANCOUVER - Two high-profile Muslim leaders in Canada have been forced to issue clarifications for anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli comments.

In East Vancouver, the head of the Dar al-Madinah Islamic Society came under attack for calling Jews "brothers of monkeys and swine" during a recorded lecture following Israel's killing of Sheik Ahmed Yassin, the spiritual leader of Hamas, last spring.

Now Sheik Younus Kathrada says the comments were taken out of context.

As Ibn Warraq has noted, the "out of context" defense is the last refuge of dishonest politicians everywhere. Kathrada has to hope that his Western audience now will be ignorant of Qur'an 2:62-65, 5:59-60, and 7:166, all of which call Jews apes and pigs.

In a statement posted on the society's website, Kathrada said his comments were aimed at the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, not all Jews.

"Any name-calling has been aimed at those perpetrating crimes and acts of terrorism and showing open aggression towards Muslims," reads Kathrada's statement.

"We do not perceive the entire Jewish population as having these traits or qualities. It is not our belief that Jews are sub-human."

The Canadian Jewish Congress has filed a formal complaint with the hate crimes unit. The RCMP is investigating.

Kathrada came under the scrutiny after media learned a young Vancouver man killed in Chechnya had frequently attended the Dar al-Madinah mosque. Family and friends of Rudwan Khalil Abubaker said he had no interest in Muslim extremism and was headed for Azerbaijan to attend a friend's wedding.

These sorts of explanations would be more convincing if they weren't advanced in every single instance. Yes, Cat Stevens gave money to Palestinians, but he didn't know it was going to Hamas; he meant it to be for building schools and hospitals. Yes, Sami Al-Arian raised money for Islamic Jihad, but he was shocked, shocked, to find out that the group engaged in terrorist acts. Yes, Abdurahman Khadr trained with Al-Qaeda, but that was "just the normal thing to do in Afghanistan." These poor fellows are so woefully uninformed -- they should have been reading Jihad Watch.

Meanwhile, the president of the influential Canadian Islamic Congress, Mohamed Elmasry, also came under attack after a television interview last week, in which he said any Israeli over age 18 was a legitimate target for suicide bombers because adult Israelis were required to do military service.

"They are part of the Israeli army, even if they have civilian clothes," Elmasry argued on the Ontario current affairs show The Michael Coren Show....

"I sincerely regret that my comments were misunderstood and, as a result, caused offence," Elmasry was quoted in a web posting over the weekend.

"Dr. Elmasry, did not, does not, and will not condone the widely held Palestinian view that any form of armed resistance against civilians that includes suicide bombing constitutes a legitimate military operation against the Israeli occupation, and not a terrorist activity," said the posting.

Well, then, why did he say it? Are we simply to believe now that black is white on his word?

Even if he was talking about "zionists", it's still a disgustingly biggoted thing to say (something which wouldn't be tolerated if directed to muslims...even ones hijacking a school and slaughtering hundreds of innocent children). Not to mention that, depending on what view you take, some may argue that it is the Israelis who are oppressed by the entire Islamic population of Arabia, and North Africa.

And it still doesn't alter the fact that the very same insult is directed to ALL jews in the koran. What can this lying gimp possibly say to refute that???

In extension he also insults Christians, as they are a "sect of Judaism" in the minds of many Muslims.

Don't be fooled. All non-Muslims are in held in contempt.

Yep, things are getting worse up here. There were Muslims dancing in the streets of my neighbourhood on 9/11. I was too numb and in shock to do anything then. Since then, they have become increasingly vocal about their desire to harm Jews, and no one up here seems to notice, or care when they do notice. But, is it any better at home nowadays? (Home being the U.S., I'm an American living in Canada).

You know for once its a pleasure to see jerks like this backpedal.

This apology must have been like holding a crucifix to a vampire.

They are so adept at using the laws they transgress against us...they will advance more and more unless the laws they use are not used against them.

Islam exposed again. This son of a hoe is a skunk, and should be maimed on a public street. Wheelchair bound for the rest of his pathetic Islamic racist life.

Ahhh, I feel a bit better now.

You've got to hand it to old Sheik Kathrada for claiming he was quoted out of context. The irony in this case is that the only word that can describe his latest statement is the commonly used Jewish term "chutzpah". Given what is commonly referred to as a shame based culture, these people can lie like a rug.

Posted by: johnb [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 26, 2004 10:23 AM

johnb - "lie like a rug," yes indeed! It's called href="http://www.ci-ce-ct.com/Feature%20articles/02-12-2002.asp">taquiyya and kitman, strategies that have been developed over a thousand years or more.

The standard of the aforementioned apologies falls short of every acceptable norm in rational dialogue. I saw the Michael Coren interview and he gave him no fewer thatn 3 chances to recant his comment. Elmasry stood by what he had said each time. It is not surprising. As someone who monitors arab press and the relevant chat boards, this sentiment is shared by a rather large group of muslims in the arab world and in Europe and North America. It is troubling to me to see muslims in Canada stating that these comments do not represent the feeling sof muslims. The facts speak for themselves. The vast majority of islamic organizations around the world are quite radical. If moderate muslims (and there are of course many) want to make their point, they need to organize their own institutions.

Now Sheik Younus Kathrada says the comments were taken out of context.

Actually he was talking about the Baboonian Razorback, which is a native of the Yukon Territory. Prospectors used them as pack mules during the Gold Rush.

Elmasry has unwittingly/unintentionally done the other side a great service -- something the Canadian media has, up until now failed to do. (Sad to think it had to be the extremely obnoxious Michael Coren to put Elmasry through an informal examination for discovery over Cdn airwaves).

As for Kathrada, seems to me that I read in either today's or yesterday's Globe & Mail that about 20 complaints were filed about his sermons and activities by Muslims in Van over the years.

Unfortunately, it seems to be human nature for things to have to get so wildly out of hand/obviously wrong for people to get jolted out of their seats and into action. It took the dogged efforts of a Holocaust survivor (or daughter of) to get hate laws on the books in Canada and the likes of Ernst Zundel deported to Germany. Let's pray that we won't be waiting too much longer for remedy here.

These Canadian Muslim leaders sound just like the one we're inflicted with here in Oz - Hilaly. When caught saying hateful things while overseas, he started bleating "out of context". When he was confronted about Muslims always coming up with that excuse and wasn't it time they stopped, he had to dig deeper into his lies bag and came up with more excuses. Oh no, the good sheik was speaking in a "figurative sense", using excerpts from poetry, and that it was all "lost in the translation". According to Hilaly's loyal lap-dog mouthpiece (another welfare parasite with a whole mob of taxpayer-supported kids), Hilaly was actually "condemning terrorism". Even though it was quite clear, from two different translations, that he was praising martyrdom operations and that 9/11 was divine will, among other things.

Yeah right! Pull the other one. Lies, lies and more filthy lies spewing from that liar's mouth. They're all the same. Taqiyya and kitman. Smiling away while they lie. And lots of stupid infidels walk away believing it. Well, sorry but not all of us are that gullible.

It's actually good that these liars say what they say, and that their disgusting words are publicized. And even if they backpedal and come up with excuses about "out of context", it exposes their agenda to more and more people. Not everyone will be satisfied with their excuses. It'll get more and more people thinking for themselves, and seeing through the mire of deception.

Your title prompts free-floating fantasy. Cross-question the Iranian mullah on his open threat to destroy "those pigs with missiles" and he will sweetly explain that he was merely discussing how one can't "get figs from thistles."

There is the making of a contest here. The Best Taqiyya for 2004. Make it an annual event. It will get people googling the word "taqiyya" and then "kitman" and every little bit in that direction helps.

One wants these words to be at least as familiar as, say, the recently-invented "Palestinian people" or "Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance" or "the three great abrahamic faiths" or "we all share the same basic beliefs" and so on.

"Taqiyya," "dar al-Islam/dar al-harb," "Treaty of al-Hudaibiyya," Sura 9 for special study, "Jihad," "jizya," "dhimmi" from ahl al-dhimma -- get these words into the newspaper, get them into speeches, use them yourself and force others to ask you what they mean. Words, words, words -- you can do a lot with words. And economize a bit on the missiles and rockets and men, if you know how to use those words properly.

The Muslims know perfectly well that words are weapons: "pen, speech" is often referred to as a weapon of Jihad.

So why don't we, merely trying to defend ourselves, take the same tack?

The slimeball is now puting the blame on the
shows host for misquoting him or taking his comment out of context.

Below is some info from the CIC website if you want to air your views on his version of Islam, and for the record,Elmasry and CAIR Canada both are demending Shariah-Law for Muslims in Canada's courts.
The actual context can be view on Wednesday evening since the host (M.Coren) is re-airing
last Tuesday's show where Mr.Elmasry volunteered
to declare all Israelis over 18 are valid targets for suicide bombers.

Here's the C.I.C. link so you can sent them an op/ed on why killing all Israeli's over 18 is the act of a psychopath that blindly follows orders from false Gods that murder to bring peace and justice.

Don't expect much from the PC yahoo's in the Federal Leberals, today in Parlaiment they refused a request to denounce the Antisemitic slurs by the Vancouver Imam about Jews being the friends of Monkeys and pigs.
Mr.Elmasry seems to be keeping his job at the CIC and the silence from other Muslim leaders is truely deafening. If this is what gets said on local cable networks, just think how bad the sermons are in Mosques when it's only Muslims listening behind closed doors.
These are the same people that were offended when the Police asked Muslims to report any overt racial slurs or preaching of terrorism and Jihad.
Muslims in Canada have the chance to prove they denounce Islamic violence and hate speech from
self-professed leaders. The CIC is supported by Muslims through financial donations,so for the Muslims to claim the CIC President didn't speak for them is an outright lie.
The CIC is believed by some Muslims to be partially funded by the Saudis to promote Whahabbism in Canada and the demand for Shariah-Law.

NO ISLAM - KNOW PEACE

Posted by: ala-sux [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 27, 2004 12:36 AM

"'Any name-calling has been aimed at those perpetrating crimes and acts of terrorism and showing open aggression towards Muslims,' reads Kathrada's statement."

Any defensive actions against Moslem violence by anybody, but especially by Jews, are considered "crimes and acts of terrorism."

" . . . showing open aggression towards Muslims . . ."

That would include anybody, especially Jews, that refuse to let themselves be killed by Moslem jihadists.

The "name-calling" (pigs [or swine] and monkeys) is aimed not at all Jews but only at "Zionists."

"We do not perceive the entire Jewish population as having these traits or qualities." {siblings to pigs and monkeys)

No, only the "Zionists."

"It is not our belief that Jews are sub-human."

Phew, that's a relief! But--wait!--if they are "brothers to pigs and monkeys," then they are not human at all, are they?

The words excreted by the mouths of these spokesmen for the "religion of peace and compassion" echo those of their koran and its outgrowths. Nothing new or conciliatory comes out--at first. When faced with remonstrations and the threat of legal action, the lies and dissimulations that are integral to Islamic warfare flow out to soothe us. Unfortunately, there are still many of our fellow citizens that are unaware of Islamic tactics.

Speaking of Islamic tactics, even such veterans of anti-Islamic warfare as the Israelis ("Zionists" in Islam-speak) were apparently taken in by the ceasefires--the hudnas--that were used by Arab Moslems to regroup and rearm. Unless the Israelis either wanted to appease the US, UN, and EU or their desire and hope for peace was so fervent that they ignored recent history and time and time again "gave peace a chance."

B.C. Muslims protest hate - Take on anti-semitism

Douglas Todd
CanWest News Service
October 25, 2004

VANCOUVER - B.C. Muslims have been trying for at least two years to silence what they call the ''grotesque'' anti-Jewish views of radical Vancouver cleric Sheik Younus Kathrada.

A group of 20 Muslims signed a public letter in August, 2002, denouncing anti-Jewish remarks being spread by Sheik Kathrada's mosque -- calling on him and his followers to apologize for ''the harm you have caused to the Jewish people, Judaism, the Muslim community and the Islamic faith.''

Vancouver residents Rahat Kurd, 34, and her husband Hanif Abdul Karim, 40, helped co-ordinate the letter of protest because they believe the anti-Semitic and anti-Christian views of Kathrada's group are not only intolerable and illegal in Canada, but present Muslims as racists.

''What he and his mosque have been publishing and saying is grotesque to the point of farce,'' Ms. Kurd said in an interview on Friday from her Vancouver home.

''He's been inciting hatred against Jews. It's so egregious. And it's against the law. He's a toxic element in the community and we felt we had to do more than have our silent disagreements; we had a responsibility to confront him.''

Long before it was learned last week that a Vancouver man reportedly killed in Chechnya frequently attended the Dar al-Madinah Islamic Society mosque in East Vancouver, Ms. Kurd and Mr. Karim worried that the Muslim sheik's vitriolic attacks on Jews and Christians would lead to dangerous repercussions for many of Canada's 600,000 Muslims.

''His speech endangers all Muslims,'' said Ms. Kurd.

''We are going to see a backlash happen now. And it's already been going on in the way police-state tactics have been used against Canadian Muslims, and in the way foreign students from Muslim countries have been targeted with more suspicion than others.''

Sheik Kathrada was raised in Canada, but said he studied Islam in Saudi Arabia. Ms. Kurd, a writer, and Mr. Karim, a registered nurse, said they were ''horrified'' in 2002 when they discovered strongly anti-Semitic writings in several 16-page newsletters published by Sheik Kathrada's mosque -- titled the Dar Al-Madinah D'Awah Letter. Such publications, she said, would never be endorsed by the B.C. Muslim Association, the umbrella group for most Sunni Muslims in the province.

The mosque's newsletters contain numerous denunciations of Jewish and Christian clerics, accusing them of ''devouring the wealth of mankind in falsehood'' and keeping people away from the true faith of Islam. The newsletter also criticizes moderate Muslims.

However, the newsletter's strongest attacks are directed at Jews, and Sheik Kathrada has described Jews as ''brothers of the monkeys and the swine'' in a lecture.

''Why do we hate the Jews?'' asks an article in the newsletter. ''We hate them for the sake of our Lord. We hate them for the sake of Allah because they slandered Allah and they killed and slandered his prophets.''

When the 20 Greater Vancouver Muslims wrote to the Dar Al-Madinah Islamic Society and demanded that such ''hate-filled, racist'' statements be retracted, Sheik Kathrada responded in a letter that he and the members of his mosque ''do not feel the D'awah Letter was filled with hate-filled material ... it was filled with truths and realities.''

In his letter of response, Sheik Kathrada also denied the argument of Ms. Kurd and Mr. Karim and the other B.C. Muslims that the views expressed in the mosque's newsletter were contrary to the ''fundamental spirit and ethic of Islam.''

Ms. Kurd, a devout Sunni Muslim, remains outraged that Kathrada and his supporters would cite Mohammed and the Koran, and use the language of ''over-weaning pietism'' to condemn Jews and others.

''I know the majority of Muslims in Canada recoil when they hear this kind of language. Most Muslims in Canada are concerned about bread-and-butter issues, and feel disgust towards these kinds of views.''

Although many Muslims in Canada are angry about the Israeli government's policies towards Palestinians, Ms. Kurd said they appreciate Canada is a pluralistic country and resist being resentful toward all Jews. For one thing, she said, Canadian Muslims know all Jews don't share the views of Israel's current leadership.

Kathrada is closer to telling the truth than are those who attack him. When they claim what he says is contrary to "the fundamental spirit and ethic of Islam" they are engaged in wishful thinking. This is the problem: the "moderate" Muslims who cannot, out of filial piety or embarrassment, dare to come to grips with the teachings, the texts, of their own belief-system. They can be nice, sweet, "moderate" as all get-out, but they cannot either admit certain home truths to themselves, nor to Infidels. Thus they become -- those who are not merely trying to protect their own positions in the West, which is undoubtedly most of them, by covering up, for now, as best they can, what Islam teaches -- handmaidens to the Jihad. The Jihad through demographic conquest, through immigration and relentless efforts at tying the local Infidels in knots by unceasingly making demands for special provisions, special attention, special accommodation that even, in Western Europe, has gone so far as "Islam Awareness Weeks" at The Globe Theatre, and a thousand other places. We are supposed not to notice these demands, this aggressiveness, the utter impossibility of Muslim loyalty being offered to an Infidel nation-state.

The absurd rule that is coming to be is: Don't throw bombs. Don't plot and conspire in cells. Don't pile up false passports and dynamite in mosques. Don't talk like Mr. Kathrada. Presto, magico -- if you refrain from all that, then you are entitled to the epithet "moderate" and we have nothing further to ask of you. You have passed the test.

Not quite.
