More questions of jihadists in the press corps. From News.com.au:
Senior officials described as authentic the claim of responsibility early yesterday by Zarqawi's al-Qaeda Group of Jihad for Monday's car bomb attack, which killed three Iraqi civilians and injured 16 others, including three Australian soldiers.Defence Minister Robert Hill yesterday played down suggestions the attack was specifically aimed at Australian troops, but warned further attacks could occur as insurgents tried to sabotage elections scheduled for January.
Foreign Minister Alexander Downer said Australia was investigating whether some media in Iraq had prior knowledge of the attack that enabled them to turn up at the scene within minutes of the bombing just outside the capital's fortified Green Zone.

The first documentary evidence that Vietnamese communists were directly steering John Kerry's antiwar group Vietnam Veterans Against the War has been discovered in a U.S. archive, according to a researcher who spoke with WorldNetDaily.

Well Look, we are talking the Green Zone. It has been a major target quite a bit recently. Are there other sites in the city to hold the reporter's attentions? I'm sure a few of them are hanging out where those explosives disappeared- days before our troops could even get there to secure them, and 19 months-old news anyway.
At the same time, we are talking about the press. While not from the same country, probably with the same kind of thinking: suppress the good news for the bad. It makes better headlines, especially if you believe in the opposition party back home.

Excellent article, Gary. I thought this passage was particularly poignant:
Applying Patton's thinking to today's situation, we can first recognize the so-called "war on terror" as a misnomer. There has never really been a war against a method other than something like Pompey's crusade against the pirates or the British effort to stifle the slave trade. In fact, we're no more in a war against terror than Patton was fighting against Tiger and Panzer tanks. Patton, who understood the hold of a radically triumphalist Nazism on a previously demoralized German people, would have the intellectual honesty to realize that we are at war with Islamic fascists, mostly from the Middle East, who have played on the frustrations of mostly male, unemployed young people, whose autocratic governments can't provide the conditions for decent employment and family life. A small group of Islamists appeals to the angst of the disaffected through a nostalgic and reactionary turn to a mythical Caliphate, in which religious purity trumps the material advantages of a decadent West and protects Islamic youth from the contamination of foreign gadgetry and pernicious ideas. In some ways, Hitler had created the same pathology in Germany in the 1930s.
There's more, it's worth a read.

Hey, I've got an idea? Let's take the US Constitution out of mothballs and actually use it.
Let's not keep putting men into the White House who have steer foreign policy to their own ends.
The Constitution prohibits using the US military to topple foreign dictators; to invade sovereign nations that have NOT attacked us; to "manage" the natural resources of other nations (oil).
Neither major candidate has ANY intention of abiding by their oath to defend the Constitution.
Neither could pass a 7th grade quiz on the subject.
How long are the American people going to stand for this? We will all find out on Nov 2nd.
Vote for Michael Peroutka.

Is anyone bombarding Dan Blabber with E-mails telling of the documents found where Hanoi was directing Kerry's movements? [I'm sure he would post it on the evening news - - right? 8^) ]
