The intention is to deceive unbelievers about Islam, for the explicit purpose of assuaging doubts and concerns about Islam, and encouraging conversion. Taqiyya underlies the whole gamut of Muslim propaganda which is disseminated in the West, from the claim that Islam promotes equal rights for women, to the attempts at inflating the perceived number of Muslims. All are designed to draw people to Islam, by hook or by crook. The example given before of the Durham imam who went so far as to claim that he would be compelled by his religion to prevent a vandal from destroying the property of a church or synagogue is a typical example of taqiyya. It was said in a public forum for the express purpose of giving an appearance to the Islamic religion which does not reflect reality. Certainly, as has been seen, the historical attitudes of Muslims toward churches and synagogues has NOT been to protect them from vandalism, just the opposite is in fact the case. But, the lie must be told in the public forum so as to present Islam in a positive and tolerant light which will appeal to Westerners, which will cause them to believe that the image of Islam as an intolerant and violent religion are just myths created by Islam's enemies to defame the True Faith.

Al-taqiyya and dissimulation are words used for a practice of Muslims blatantly lying to non-Muslims. All but some of the most fundamental Muslims consider the act of Al-taqiyya or lying to non-Muslims to be a good work. This is very important when one remembers that, in Islam, salvation is determined by good works. This means that a Muslim lying to a non-Muslim is that Muslim doing a good work to earn salvation.

Taqiyya has been used by Muslims since the 7th century to confuse and split 'the enemy’. A favored tactic was ‘deceptive triangulation’; to persuade the enemy that jihad was not aimed at them but at another enemy. Another tactic was to deny that there was jihad at all. A believer can make any statement as long as the ‘heart is comfortable'. The 9/11 terrorists lived and visited in the United States for two years before the 9/11 attacks. How did they acculturate? By the use of taqiyya. Meaning: I hate you but I smile at you-in public. Claiming that Jihad is a subjective and psychological state of personal struggle is taqiyya. In contemporary terms, Jihad means - holy war - against unbelievers and it in this context that Al Qaeda training manuals refer to Jihad as ‘Holy War’.

The principle of sanctioning lying for the cause of Islam bears grave implications in matters relating to the spread of the religion of Islam in the West. Muslim activists employ deceptive tactics in their attempts to polish Islam's image and make it more attractive to prospective converts. They carefully try to avoid, obscure, and omit mentioning any of the negative Islamic texts and teachings.

We should keep hush-hush on things that are still in preparation. To this type of hiding, kitman is the best policy. In this regard, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, says in the hadith: “Seek fulfillment for things you want to finish inkitman.]” He himself gave the best example of such a type in the early days of Islam. When the number of Muslims was still small and the community was still weak, there was a big need for concealment or secret call (kitman).

Australia's Mufti, Taj El-Din El-Hilaly, praises terrorists in Arabic. Then, when his words leak out, the sheik's spokesman, Keysar Trad of the Lebanese Muslim Association, tells us in English how we've again got the peace-loving cleric all wrong.

Islam allows deception in war in order to attain victory. Al-Nawawi said: “The scholars are agreed that it is permissible to deceive the kuffaar in war in any way possible, except if that would mean breaking the terms of a treaty or trust, in which case it is not permitted. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “War is deceit.”

Sheik Omar told us it was just fine with Allah to lie, renege, deceive and cheat as long as it is for the betterment of Islam. The sheik said, "Yes, it was okay to lie in a war." Islam is in a Jihad with the US and its allies. Therefore, Muslims CAN renege on the covenant, lie, deceive and kill--as long as Islam is in Jihad--which they are all the time.

Al-Taqiya, from the verb Ittaqu, means linguistically dodge the threat. Politically it means simulate whatever status you need in order to win the war against the enemy. According to Al-Taqiya, Muslims were granted the Shar'iya (legitimacy) to infiltrate the Dar el-Harb (war zone), infiltrate the enemy's cities and forums and plant the seeds of discord and sedition. These agents were acting on behalf of the Muslim authority at war, and therefore were not considered as lying or denouncing the tenants of Islam. They were "legitimate" mujahedeen, whose mission was to undermine the enemy's resistance and level of mobilization. One of their major objectives was to cause a split among the enemy's camp. In many instances, they convinced their targeted audiences that Jihad is not aimed at them.

It is stated in the English version of the Sudanese Constitution that Islam is the state religion and that other faiths are tolerated. However in the Arab version, there is not a trace of such a guarantee.” The greatest punishment Arabs can inflict is oppression, a sense of falsity. If they can fool you, they do it with will all their might. They are proud of their ability to trick you.

This point is proven by numerous incidences in the life of Mohammed. He often lied and instructed his followers to do the same. He rationalized that the prospect of success in missions to extend Islam’s influence overrode Allah’s initial prohibitions against lying. A good example of sanctioned lying is the account of the assassinations of Kaab Ibn al-Ashrf, and Shaaban Ibn Khalid al-Hazly. Mohammed reportedly allowed his assassins lie to them in order to lure them into a place where they could easily butcher them.

The Quran alleges that Allah sanctions lies and deception:
“Allah will not call you to account for what is futile in your oaths, but He will call you to account for your deliberate oaths: for expiation, feed ten indigent persons, on a scale of the average for the food of your families; or clothe them; or give a slave his freedom. If that is beyond your means, fast for three days. That is the expiation for the oaths ye have sworn. But keep to your oaths. Thus doth Allah make clear to you His signs, that ye may be grateful.” Surah 5:89

“Any one who, after accepting faith in Allah, utters Unbelief, except under compulsion, his heart remaining firm in Faith - but such as open their breast to Unbelief, on them is Wrath from Allah, and theirs will be a dreadful Penalty.” Surah 16: 106

“Let not the believers Take for friends or helpers Unbelievers rather than believers: if any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah: except by way of precaution, that ye may Guard yourselves from them. But Allah cautions you (To remember) Himself; for the final goal is to Allah.” Surah 3: 28

According to this verse it is acceptable for Muslims to use deceptive tactics. In violation to the teachings of Islam, they can pretend to befriend infidels. In situations where real or imagined harm is perceived they are permitted to display adherence with the ideals of those considered as infidels.

When dealing with Muslim leaders it is essential to keep in mind that they can say or do anything that will get them out of trouble. All the while, they are apt to have just the opposite agenda in their hearts. It is imperative that our leaders not be naïve. They must understand that Muslims can use this loophole in their religion to absolve them from any accountability when they revert to deceptive tactics. They can unashamedly do so, as they adhere to Mohammed, the prophet of Islam, who was quoted as saying “War is a deception.” The Allah of Islam is described in the Quran as “the best of deceivers.” Surah 8:30.

There are two separate stages a Muslim community goes through: "The stage of weakness - In it a Muslim community is unable to take charge of its own destiny. In this case - according to his thinking - they must withdraw for the purpose of preparing themselves to be capable of executing the second stage. "The second stage is the Jihad stage, and it will come when the Muslim community has completed its prepardness and is ready to come out of its isolation to take charge, through Jihad. "In this, Abul Aala Almaudoody was making a comparison between the two stages of weakness and Jihad on the one hand, and on the other hand, Mohammed's struggle in Mecca then in Medina." Today, in the West, we are witnessing the Islamic stage of weakness, but lets not be fooled, the stage of Jihad is coming sooner or later.

The Iraqi Information minister quoted Sura 3:54, saying that "Allah was the best of deceivers". What actually is this word? Sura 3:54 says that Allah "makara." The Arabic word makara means to deceive, scheme, or plan. The Arabic Bible in Genesis 3:1 uses the same word for Satan. This word "schemer" (maakir) is a very strong word which Wehr and Abdel-Nour define as "sly, cunning, wily". The Arabic-Arabic unjid defines it with "khuda`a" which means exactly the same thing. The phrase of Allah "being the best deceiver". "kheir ol makarein" is also used of Allah in Suras 8:30; 10:22. The person who is a Makir (Same form as the word Kafir) speaking of
the attribute of a person is one who would outwit someone else to cause them harm. It speaks of one who would reveal the opposite of what he plans to do. The reality is that he is scheming evil for that person. So yes there is the sense of planning and scheming but mostly it means to trick, outwit and deceive for the purpose of overpowering and conquering the other. A Makir is one who devises a secret scheme against someone else. Synonyms would be cheating, defrauding, double-crossing, deceiving, tricking, in all cases Makara has the sense of defeating the one you have tricked.

The response in Canada has been much stronger than I expected - most of the major media have been all over Elmasry calling for his resignation - at least from the CIC and many from his position at the University of Waterloo.

Yesterday, the CBC radio had an excellent program featuring three Muslim guests who were all very critical of Elmasry. They even touched on a few key points including - no one is really responsible for organizations like the CIC. i.e. they purport to speak for Muslims (or even just that organization) but members have no way of censuring people like Elmasry because they control the board.

Other key issues raised were there is no way to remove an imam from a mosque - speaking here of the racist diatribe from the imam of the mosque in Vancouver who called for the killing of Jews. They also called for the elimination of foreign (i.e. Saudi) funding of Canadian mosques. I found this discussion a breath of fresh air unexpected in the media - especially the CBC.

Below are the introductory comments from the program:

"It's been bubbling and brewing for several days now. And the controversy that erupted after two prominent members of Canada's Muslim community were accused of making anti-Semitic and anti-Israel comments, shows no sign of abating.

Mohamed Elmasry, president of the Canadian Islamic Congress, made headlines after an interview on a TV show in which he appeared to suggest that adult Israelis are legitimate targets because they are required to serve in the army.

Yesterday, Mr. Elmasry apologized for the way he expressed himself and offered to step down. But the Congress refused to accept his resignation, saying "one unintentional mistake does not wipe out an exemplary record of more than 30 years."

It remains to be seen whether Mr. Elmasry's apology will be enough to satisfy critics, who were also alarmed by comments made by a Vancouver sheik who described Jewish people as "brothers of monkeys and swine."

Both incidents have raised serious questions about the leadership of Canada's Muslim community and led many to question how widespread these kinds of sentiments are.

To discuss this and give us a sense of how Canada's Muslim and Arab communities are reacting we were joined by Aliyah Hogben, the Executive Director of the Canadian Council of Muslim Women. She was in Kingston, Ontario.

Unfortunately, Canada's rather liberal immigration policies has proven to become a haven for many who share the beliefs of El masri. In fact to tell you the truth, I believe that while many muslims do not share this ideology, quite a large number do. We are starting to understand the impact of the wahaabist madraas and Mosques that exist here in Canada and the US and Europe. Their goals are as much political as they are religious. THeir influence in the muslim communities reached deep. THe problem must be addressed at an institutional level. I personally blieve that Madrass and mosques in Canada need to be put under immendiate sureveillance and that hate speech laws be prosecuted wherever they are found. Hate should not be permitted to hide behind faith (and tax exempt to boot)

Catherine you have no idea....my son has 2 muslim children in his kidnergarten class (and the girl wears a hajib...thought that was supposed to protect their virtue...why would a 5 year old girl need her virtue protected, what kind of sickos would be looking at a 5 year old girl...never mind I already know) The parents of these children tried to get the school not to have any halloween festivities...of course they were told to shove it, but it is starting, they are trying to take away activities in our PUBLIC schools....and workplaces. A good friend of ours is a public trustee for the Canadian Govt, he works in city hall in Toronto and they are not permitted to have anything the mentions specificaly "Christmas, Hanukkah, etc" but are permitted to have "Happy Holidays" banners. I am thinking back to when I was in elementary school in the late 70's....there was NEVER any problem with celebrating Christmas, Easter, Halloween etc...I remember that there were kids that didnt celebrate those things but there were few of them and they simply left the room and did something else (mostly they were jehovas witnesses, they didnt even stay if a childs birthday was being celebrated...the Jewish kids always stayed and perticipated since the celebrations werent religious) The parents of the kids that didnt celebrate did not try to stop the rest of of from doing it...looking at what has happened since then makes me wonder what the state of holidays will be here in 10 more years...will we be forced to celebrate in secret if we are celebrating anything except something islamic?

Ther is an Elmasry in your town or nearby. I suggest that your neighbors and fellow citizens would like to know about that person and the things he says and believes when he's not being interviewed in public, things he later tries to retract. I believe your neighbors and friends would like to see for themselves, if they had the chance, quotations from the Koran, Hadiths, and Sira, the actual words from legitimate texts of Islam.

I propose that we ask Hugh, Catherine, and others so well versed in these area, to select a "topic of the week" that we can cut and paste into a one-page hand-out, a page of ten quotations of two or three lines apiece, covered with an appropriate graphic and a title such as "Islam in its own words," or something bland like that.

If we were to have a store of such fact-sheets on themes, i.e., the story of Aisha, the endless violence of the Koran, et c., we could then share out these pages, copy 50 each, and pick a day and time for all of us across the globe when we would stand and pass out these sheets to those who will be more likely sympathetic than not.

If we pass out 50 copies of a fact-sheet on Islam in a concerted way, with an e-mail contact for further info, I think that would qualify as "strategic" action.

Canada has such men as Elmasry, but so do other States. Your town has someone, I'm sure. Stand out at a common time knowing that all of us are there too in different areas though you might be alone on your corner. In time, as Hugh often asks, we will be noticed by the Press, and that will snowball into greater activity. But let the Moslems speak for themselves. Discuss the issue with those who agree. don't waste your time on those who would waste your time.

Spencer provides endlessly good copy for us to work with, and all it requires on our end is a bit of co-ordination.

Hope this is appealing, and if so, I look forward to the tinkering of details.

just proves that Jihad is allowed within islam and the Quran is above any man-made laws,the CIC and CAIR both are demanding Shariah-law for Muslims in Canada.

I suggest profiling at the US borders and full disclosure by groups sending money to the middle east while claiming Charity-Status to get donation
from Muslims that don't care who is the reciepient
is.

Muslims need to get their lies straight,they can't show support for overt Muslim Bigots while insisting the Quran forbids violence and is about Peace and tolerance.

Just when I thought Muslims couldn't do anymore damage to their image in Canada,I watched a TV show based on the Quran and the host scrambled to excuse away Elmasry's call for the killing of all Israelis over the age of 18.
Not only was there the assertion of non-Muslims
taking antisemitic comments out of context,he didn't condemn Dr.Elmasry but also didn't adamantly reject Elamsry's view.
Seems that killing all Israelis over 18 is going to the extreme,but Israel does have a draft system and the people are part of a State policy to oppress Palestinians. The host said that Muslims are peaceful as long as nobody wages war against them and in that case all Muslim around the world must fight to stop the injistices done by Israelis to Palestinians.
So now the issue is that 1.2 Billion Muslims are at war with Israel,and civilians are those under 18 and don't attack Islam.
That's so comforting to know that as long as I don't question the Quran or Muhammed the Muslims will allow me to live without fear of death as the enemy of Allah. The interview from above by Tarek Fatah was countered by his comments on another show he was on,he put the blame for violence by Muslim on Christians and the crusades that force them to defend themselves.
Funny how Muslims have a selective memory on history,the crusades were to recover the land taken by the Muslim crusaders that tried to exsponge Christians that occupied the MiddleEast long before Islam was created by Muhammed.
As for Palestine,Jews also lived in the area long be Muslims and the 1948 argument for slaughtering Israelis is just a ruse to aid the worlds Muslims to wipe Israel of the map.

Mr.Hooper at CAIR has made it clear he wants America to be claimed for Allah as a Islamic Nation controled by a Muslim majority,as lomg as Muslims live a a state of denial and paranoia their image will never be seen as a benevolent
faith wanting social justice and peace on Earth.
Elmasry also said the resistance to occupation will continue until the bloodshed bring the peace he has wanted for all people,but what he really implied was the peace would come after his side won the war on Jews.

The Canadian authorities have yet to arrest Elamsry for publicly calling for a genocide against all people in Israel over 18 dispite gender and even old-age,Elmasry's big mistake was to steal the limelight on Tv and be so stupid
he didn't think about spewing the same hate he usually recerves for Mosques and private meetings with other Muslims.
The real irony here is Muslims are more concerned at the tarnished image and backlash rather than the overt hateful rant from a person that's the President of a National Islamic Organization.
